Video Post - Creating an Ink Blended Birthday Card with a Die Cut Focal Point

by Daniel West on Jan 04 2022
Hello there! Daniel West, here, with a fun ink-blended birthday card featuring the HB2U Word Die as a focal point. Today, I shared a video on how to make this card on the Picket Fence YouTube channel. You can check it out here. To create this card, I first laid down a rainbow of inks through the Flowers Stencil.

Hello shaker card with Michelle

by Michelle Lupton on Dec 31 2021
While it is the last day of the year (and it's a year than many of us might want to forget), I prefer to look forward and say a bright, rainbow hello to the new year. I used the Hello die insert along with the slimline double stitched rectangle die to create a shaker card. I decorated the shaker with the Lots of Blossoms stencil, Distress oxide inks and lots of the new Crystalline Diamonds. Thanks for visiting :)

Rainbow of Thanks

by Sara Sherlock on Dec 21 2021
Hello!  It's Sara, from Much Love, Sara. I'm back again today, because I have a  Thank You card to share with you.  This card was actually super fun to put together, and you can create a whole set of Thanks cards with the colored die cuts (a fun, last minute gift idea, or stocking stuffer?).  I began with the background for this card.  I used the Slim Line Clouds Stencil, and a Life Changing Blender Brush, to blend a blue-gray ink, onto white card stock.

Hello!  It's Sara, from Much Love, Sara. Welcome to the final day of our 25 Days of Christmas Inspiration!  I have one last holiday card to share with you today.  I loved the mental break I got making this card, as the watercoloring process was very calming.   I began by stamping, and white heat embossing, the beautiful Christmas Poinsettia Star Stamp (this large Poinsettia image is one of my all-time favorite Christmas stamps), onto watercolor paper.

Hello there, Lisa here today for 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration. Christmas isn't too far away now, but maybe you are still creating the odd card here and there for close family and friends. Today I am sharing a card using two of the cutest woodland bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey and I thought I would pair them with an older background stamp. It's called On An Autumn Countyside and I love it. I think it can be used just as easily for Christmas cards as well as Autumn cards especially when you white heat emboss as it looks perfectly frosty. We all like to stretch our stamps don't we?! I started by stamping the tree onto some white cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set and then set to work with my Distress Oxide Inks. Using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade from top to bottom. I trimmed the panel down and matted it onto some navy cardstock which i then added onto a top folding white 110lb notecard. Not a very traditional colour scheme but I love Seedless Preserves and wanted to use it today, and we can do whatever we want in cardmaking can't we! The two bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey were stamped using Black Hybrid Ink and coloured with Copics (numbers listed a little later). They were then cut out with the coordinating dies and popped onto the panel using foam tape. To finish the card I stamped a greeting from Lots Of Christmas Cheer onto navy cardstock using Versamark Ink. Again, I applied white embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out into a little banner shape. I added some white gel pen stitching onto it and then added it to the panel with foam tape. And that finished the card for today! Copics used: E59, E57, E55, E53, E51, E50. Thank you for joining me here today on the blog and I wish you a wonderful day!

Texture and Glitz for quick and easy cards with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Dec 15 2021
Hi guys!  Welcome back to another day of 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration.  As we are getting down to the wire with getting your holiday cards done and out the door, I have come up with a clean design that is easy to adapt to what you have at home and in your stash.  Personally, I love snowflakes so I grabbed the Lydia Snowflake die. To add a little bit of interest, on top of these I have dabbed some Paper Glaze, Paper Glaze Lux and Paper Glitz with a cheap, stiff paintbrush.  On top of white card bases I have stamped up sentiments from the Joyeux Noel stamp set, with both Black Hybrid ink and colour matched to the Paper Glaze/Lux/Glitz on the snowflakes.  I have also added the brand new Crystalline Diamonds in Opal, Diamond and Aquamarine! If you are mailing these, you can use flat sequins instead.  I hope you found some inspiration here with me today, and have a lovely rest of the week!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

It's New Release Day

by Sandi MacIver on Dec 14 2021

Hey cardmaking friends.  Sandi MacIver here and today I'm sharing Christmas Cardmaking in GOLD.  Today is the Picket Fence Studio December Release - WHOO HOO.  So many fun new products, but I used just ONE of the new products in today's card. The NEW, Lots of Blossoms Stencil and I'm going to share with you how I created this beautiful card using just one stencil. It's super simple, fast and easy and you can use this technique on any type of card for any celebration. Check the end of the post for clickable thumbnail images for the entire new release that goes live today. I had so much fun creating this card, but my OCD kicked in, and I had to exactly line up those crazy petals, LOL.  It's a simple hinge technique so let's get started.   How to create my Christmas Cardmaking in GOLD Card: Start by using the Lots of Blossoms 6 x 6 stencil to dry emboss the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 mirror gold background. Place that down on your grid paper and trace around it with a pencil. Lay the stencil over it, line up the blossoms, and then tape the stencil to the grid paper on one side with some washi tape - creating a hinge. Next, take a piece of black cardstock also 4-1/4 x 5-1/2, place a small amount of adhesive on the back, and attach it inside the outline you traced. Flip the stencil back over the cardstock and secure it on all sides. Use a Picket Fence Studios Spatula to add Paper Glaze Ombre - Santa's Favorite Colors 2, through the stencil onto the black cardstock. Remove the stencil and clean it immediately and let the Paper Glaze dry. Flip the piece over, and using your grid paper, draw pencil lines where you want to cut the tree.  I took an inch from each side, up to the center at the top.  if you want a wider tree, take less than an inch on each side. Cut on the lines, flip the tree back over and use foam squares to attach it to your card, lining up the florals. Adding the Sentiment to your card: Use the Picket Fence Studios Fancy Christmas Sentiments and Dies to Gold emboss a sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock and then cut it out with the coordinating die. Attach it across the tree, near the bottom with Foam Squares. Finally, embellish the tree with Sands of Time Gem Mix.   Here is the entire December Picket Fence Studios Release: Here is today's entire new release .  Compensated affiliate links used  where available at no cost to you. When you click on a thumbnail link and shop you are supporting my website allowing me to continue bringing you new projects and videos.  Thank you. Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you enjoyed my card share.

No-Line Watercolor Wreath with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Dec 12 2021
Hello and thank you for stopping by as we continue our 25 Days of Christmas Inspiration! It's Rachelle, from Red Cre8s, and I'm so glad you've joined me today! I've got some great tips for a special no-line watercolor painting of the gorgeous image, "A Wreath For All Seasons"!   I began with a piece of 110# Cougar Opaque White card stock - this is a bright white stock (cleaner than Neenah Solar White) and can absorb a lot of paint without pilling! I placed this large stamp into my MISTI and lightly brushed the surface with my kneaded eraser. This 'preps' the surface of the stamp and allows the ink to be applied evenly and completely. I don't always do this but this image has a lot of coverage and I wanted to be sure that it stamped correctly! I stamped it with "Antique Linen" Distress Oxide Ink a couple of times to get a good impression. When painting an image like this one, it's best to start with the areas in the background and work your way to the front. This allows you to cover up all of the areas from the previous layer with your most recent application. So I began with the peach buds, then the green leaves, and the magenta/ruby petals, etc. In areas where you want to play light against dark, start with the light (as in the ruby petals) and then paint the darker color value on top. I painted each tiny section of the magenta first, overlapping the shape and then carefully painted the dark ruby around it. I continued with the blues, olive green and gold until I ended up in the center. Using the Distress Oxide Ink allows you to cover all of the image lines - the ink reacts to the paint and in effect, blends right into the background. After all the watercolor painting was complete (about 4 hours) I outlined the entire image with gold metallic paint using a very tiny 000-sized brush! You can see that detailing in the photo below! I trimmed the panel down to 4" x 5.25" and mounted it to a magenta card front. Since the image was the star of the show, I simply added the one-word die cut from the "Slim Line Oversized Joy To The World Die" to finish up the card.  I hope this has inspired you to try this watercolor technique! Be sure to visit the blog for more Christmas crafting inspiration tomorrow! Happy Crafting - Rachelle

Billy the Gnome for 25 Days of Christmas

by Daniel West on Dec 08 2021
Billy the Gnome Dies A Gnome Christmas Stamp Set Arctic Winter Stencil Paper Glaze Ombre Pumpkin Spices PFS Mixed Media Spatulas Sands of Time Gem Mix First, I die cut the Billy the Gnome image out and color the pieces in with Copic Markers. Then, I added a bit of the Arctic Winter Stencil in red on the cap. Next, I adhered all the pieces of the gnome together with Bearly Art Glue. After that, I stenciled the Paper Glaze Ombre Pumpkin Spices over the Arctic Winter Stencil to some white cardstock with a spatula and let it dry. Then, I trimmed down that panel an inch on all sides and popped it up over a card base of sand cardstock. Next, I created a sentiment strip using a stamp from the A Gnome Christmas Stamp Set. I stamped it in Versamark Ink over black cardstock and melted it with a heat tool. Then I trimmed it down with a guillotine trimmer and adhered it to the front of my card with glue. To finish off the project, I glued down some Sands of Time Gem Mix to the front. Thank you for spending some time with me on the blog today! I hope you are enjoying the holiday season! Daniel

HI guys! It's Erica with you today for your daily dose of 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration!  If, like me, you are not that great at getting your Christmas cards done early, you might be looking at a classic design that's easy to mass-produce. The cards I'm sharing today are perfect for just this!  I have used the gorgeous Christmas Poinsettia Star stamp and heat embossed it with gold on white card stock. This was then trimmed down a little bit and adhered to a white card base.  The sentiment is also heat embossed, in gold of course, and this is from the For The Holidays stamp set.  Easy Peasy, and mass-produce-able in a jiffy!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Holly Jolly Slim Line Christmas

by Sandi MacIver on Dec 03 2021
Hey cardmaking friends and welcome back.  It's Sandi here with another card in the Christmas Card Extravaganza here at Picket Fence Studios. Today it's a Slimline Holly Jolly Christmas.  I combined all my favorites on this card so it's packed with interest, layers and bling.  I hope you like it.     Yes, all the things on one card, haha. How to create the Slimline Holly Christmas card: Start with a 3-1/4 x 8-1/4 piece of white, cut with the Slim Line Die Cutting System. Lay the Slim Line Basket Petals Stencil over it and use the Life Changing Brushes to add Distress Oxides through the stencil.  I used Salvage Patina, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles and Black Soot. Next, Use the Misti and the Black Hybrid Ink to stamp the holly stamp into hammermill white cardstock. Color with Copic Markers: Greens:  Bg11, BG34, G19, G28 Pinks:  RV34, RV17, RV19, RV69 Use the coordinating die to cut out the holly and set aside.   For the Sentiment: Die cut the Slim Line Merry Christmas Word Die in mirror gold, and two of the Blue spruce cardstock, stack them together. Finally, Use the Sky Blue Paper Glaze Ombre, spread it across a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of white card and let it dry. Cut the Snowflake Lydia from it. Assembling the card:  Layer the card front to a 3-3/8 x 8-3/8 mat in Blue Spruce (from Spellbinders) and then to a 4 x 9-1/2 white card base. Use the Bearly White Glue with the fine tip to attach the paper glaze snowflake. Next, over that, add the holly. Finally, use the Bearly White Glue again to attach the sentiment. Embellish with Oceans of Green Gem Mix.            used for the Picket Fence Studios Slim Line Holly Christmas card: Here are the products I used today.  Compensated affiliate links used  where available at no cost to you. Merry Christmas!

by Lisa Tilson on Dec 01 2021
Hello there, Lisa here today for the 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration. I hope you are all well and getting into the Christmas spirit! We have lots of cards to share with you over the coming weeks, so if you are still looking for some ideas to create last minute cards, keep checking back to see what we have to help you on your way! So this is the card that I created for today. I took some dark navy cardstock and the Slim Line Double Tree Stencil and using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended some Black Soot Distress Ink to form the trees. Next I put a little Paper Glitz Sparkle onto my mat, added some water to dilute it and then spattered it over the panel. This adds the most gorgeous semi opaque snowfall! You might also be inclined to think that it is a starry sky? Either way, it works and I love to add the sparkle onto my projects. The santa and reindeer are from the Slim Line Our Town Cover Plate Die set and they were cut four times from white cardstock. I adhered them all together in a little stack for some dimension. I also die cut the Merry Christmas Word Topper Die once from white cardstock and a second time from a light green cardstock. To assemble the card, I trimmed the background panel slightly and matted it onto a top folding horizontal A2 base card using wet adhesive. I then added the two Merry Christmas strips along the bottom, trimming off the excess from the sides. The santa and reindeer were added to complete the card. I hope that you like the card and I wish you all a wonderful day. See you next time!
