A (Colourful) City In The World with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Jan 02 2020
Hi guys!  Erica back on the Picket Fence Studios blog after some technology-mishaps/vicious vendetta issues. I swear it's not me, it's IT.  Today's card is using the A City In The World stamp and is inspired by the many cute villages around where I live. My husband and I moved to Valencia, Spain less than three months ago and I'm completely obsessed with the architecture, the gates and wrought iron that's so prominent here. I love it!  I stamped it up with Black Hybrid ink on water colour paper. The colouring is done with Atelier re-inkers from Inkon3 and although it doesn't show up that well in the photos, the houses are all shimmery. My jug of water had some gold shimmer at the bottom and I didn't think it mattered but oh boy, when it was dry, it was so noticeable! I'm chalking this one up to a happy accident as I actually love how it turned out. While the colouring was drying, I stamped up the City image again on masking paper and fussy cut that out. This I placed over the coloured image to protect it while I ink blended the background.  I've used some yellows, orange and dark currant coloured inks to create a really dramatic sky. The ink blending itself is of course done with the Life Changing Blender Brushes.  Because I'm a weirdo, I haven't added a sentiment to this card. I have this thing where I don't like covering up my colouring... I can't explain why, I simply don't like it, so I left this as it is. Leaving it free to be a whatever card! Or maybe Happy New Home? That could be something.  That's it from me for today, thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

I Love You The Mostest, Ink Blending

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Dec 31 2019
Hi guys!  Do you have a favourite technique that you come back to again and again, or reach for when you feel low on mojo? I absolutely LOVE ink blending myself. I have always loved the look of it but man, did I have to work hard for it before the Life Changing Blender Brushes came into my life...!  Now I get the most incredible blend and smooth results, it's almost hard to think back to a time I found it so difficult. These brushes have spoilt me!  Today I am going to blog a card I have already shown, while I was having some commitment issues with the switch over from the old blog to the new. I was locked out and couldn't get back in, no matter what I tried. But all sorted now, thankfully!  I used a new to me stencil, the 3 1/2" Blending Stencil, for this card but it's not available at the moment. There is a slightly smaller one called 2 1/2" Blending Stencil that can be used in the same way.  First of all I heat embossed 'I Love You The Mostest' in gold embossing powder, directly onto a card base. Then I placed the stencil right over it, so the sentiment was right in the middle of the circle. Using my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry in a gradient way.  For those of you good at CAS/Clean And Simple cards, you probably would have stopped at one circle. I on the other hand, am not so good at those kinds of cards so I kept moving the stencil and adding a pattern.  You'd think I would stop there, right? Well.... no, not me. I went ahead and added a generous splattering of gold all over it as well. Since that forced me to stop doing stuff to it while it was drying, I made myself stop there but I was thinking a few sequins or other kind of embellishments might have looked nice. I know, I am a menace... Once I'm on a roll, it's get out of the way or get glitter bombed, basically, lol!  I have had so many lovely comments on this card, and people have pointed out it's easy enough to change up the colours and sentiments to fit all sorts of occasions. Which is all very true. I'd love to see what you would come up with using this as a basic inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you found some inspiration here with me.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Let's Decorate with Judy Rozema

by Judy Rozema on Dec 30 2019
Hello everyone! It's the last Monday of the decade! Wow! And it's almost time for a party. How about cake for New Year's Eve? Add in a sale, and it's a REAL celebration! Today I am sharing two cards using the newly released LET'S DECORATE and CHEAT DAY. I used the 2 1/2" Blending Circle and my Life Changing Brushes to make my circles with Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Inks. I stamped the sentiment from CHEAT DAY with VersaFine Clair Nocturne, and then backed the main panel with Silver Glitter cardstock. My main cake images from LET'S DECORATE were then stamped and colored with Copics. I cut them out with the coordinating dies, and popped them up with foam tape. A few baubles for fun, and it's all done! My second card uses the same black ink, Copics, and Abandoned Coral for the cake and stenciling. I used just the corners of the new QUATREFOIL BOUQUET stencil. Some patterned paper for an added layer, and this second card is a peachy beauty! And to clean my stamps? Well --- have you seen the NEW Stamp Scrubber? Because of its unique texture, it removes inks from crevices and cleans your stamp surface beautifully! Be sure to check it out and grab yours today! There's a sale you know! Be sure to take advantage of the 20% off sale through the beginning of the year -- and that's SOON! Thanks for stopping by today. You can find more of my projects at Joy in a JAR on Facebook, @joy_in_a_jar on Instagram, and on my blog!

German Braids with ribbons

by Michelle Lupton on Dec 27 2019
Hello, crafty friends! Michelle here to share a card I created using the German Braids stamp from Picket Fence Studios. I stamped the German Braids image using Versafine sepia ink, and cut her out with the coordinating die.  I then took some ribbon from my stash and made some bows to go around her braids. I used the Quatrefoil Bouquet Stencil to create the background using Distress Oxide inks and my Life Changing Blender Brushes. I then added the sentiment from I Freaking Love You, also stamped in Versafine ink. Thanks for visiting :)

Distress Oxide Spray Background with Mindy Eggen

by Mindy Eggen on Dec 25 2019
Welcome back everyone and Merry Christmas! Mindy Eggen here with you today and I'm sharing a card that has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas but is colorful and fun! I'm working with products from the Picket Fence Studios December release. I'm starting with Charles the Chameleon. I stamp the image in Versafine ink onto Bristol Smooth card stock using my Misti tool. Then I sprinkle on clear embossing powder and heat emboss. Next, I color my image with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I am using the colors No. 020 Red, No. 070 Orange, No. 050 Yellow, No. 004 Green, No. 031 Cobalt Blue, and No. 082 Purple. Then I use the coordinating die to cut out the image. For my background, I sprayed my Points of Interest stencil with Pixie Spray. Then I attached the stencil to a piece of Meadow card stock and spritzed with Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Spray. I removed the stencil and once dry, I trimmed the panel down to 3" x 4" and attached to a piece of white card stock. I added a strip of brown card stock and added my panel to an A2 notecard made from Sea Salt card stock. I finished off the card by adding a sentiment I heat embossed in Gold onto Pitch Black card stock. The sentiment and Chameleon are added to the card front with foam squares. Here's a look at the stamp set and stencil that I used. All supplies will be listed below. Points of Interest Stencil SUPPLIES Below you will find links to the products used. May All Your Wishes Be Merry and Bright with Susie Moore

by Susie Moore on Dec 23 2019
Hello Monday Friends! Here we are just a few days before Christmas. And while this card is meant to be a Christmas card, the focal image which is called A City in the World can be used any time during the year. It is a full background which can be just stamped or embossed or totally colored in. Can you just imagine all the ways you could create using it? Here I used part of the image and then masked it to create my blended background. I colored my stamped image using Copic markers and then stamped my sentiment from the Christmas Wishes stamp set using black ink. I added some white and gold splatters and just a few sequins to finish the card. I hope you are ready to spend some wonderful holiday time with friends and family. I have so enjoyed getting to know you this past year! Susie Created4Creativity

A City In The World Stamp with Karen Reategui

by Karen Reategui on Dec 19 2019
Hello friends! Today I’m sharing this picturesque watercolor card over Picket Fence Studios Blog featuring A City In The World and Leave As A Friend Stamp Sets for my sentiment.     Let’s begin! I stamped the image onto watercolors paper using Black Hybrid Ink and then I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to apply color.   Once the panel was dry, I die cut it using a rectangular die frame. Next, I adhered a white card base at the back of the panel using double sided tape. Finally, I stamped my sentiment from Leave As A Friend Stamp Set using Black Hybrid Ink from Picket Fence Studios, added it to the background my card was finished. Have wonderful day and stay warm! The Mostest

by Lisa Henke on Dec 18 2019
Hey, hey! It's Lisa Henke here, taking a quick break from the holiday hustle to share a simple and sweet card. This sentiment. It is perfect, and so is the price. It's called I Love You The Mostest.  It's one of those stamps that just makes sense to add to your order. Simple and sweet and great for any occasion, especially those "just because" cards. The December Release happened last week and we are just giddy about all the new products for you. I combined four of them on today's card. A bold sentiment with this stunning new updo girl, German Braids, just makes sense too. I think she is my favorite. I know some of you may be intimidated by the idea of coloring her hair. Don't be! The detail on this stamp makes it easy to color and make it look good. I used four different shades of brown Copic markers (E09, E18, E33, and E29) to give here a reddish brown crown.   I love a great subtle background, and the new A city in the World stamp was a great fit for the job. I chose to stamp it in Stone ink onto Polar white card stock. This stamp looks great colored up, too, I just chose to let the girl shine. I used the German Braids die to cut her out and then added some dimension with foam dots. I finished the card off with a strip of some Champagne Glitter paper. Wishing you all the best. Have a great week! Hugs, Lisa https://linkdeli.com/widget.js?1559654439292

Stand Out Among the Chameleons in Your Life

by Ilina Crouse on Dec 18 2019
Hi everyone! Ilina here! If you haven't checked the new release now is the time to do so! And today I am sharing a card using the new set Charles the Chameleon, along with the coordinating die set and an awesome new stencil called Points of Interest! To make my card start by stamping Charles onto watercolor paper and emboss in clear embossing powder. Color him using your color medium of choice (I used Karin watercolor markers), then die cut him. Next stamp sentiment onto black card stock and emboss in white. Trim to size. Use stencil adhesive to adhere the stencil onto white card stock panel, then using the Life Changing Blender brushes apply some light aqua ink. Remove the stencil and assembled your panel then adhere to black top folding note card. Add black enamel dots to finish it off!
