Life Is Better With A Friend

by Brenda Noelke on Dec 16 2024
Hello, crafty friends and happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Brenda here today sharing a card featuring the adorable pup in the You Hold My Heart In Your Paw Stamp Set from Saturday's December release!! I began by stamping the pup from the You Hold My Heart In Your Paw Stamp Set onto white cardstock with Momento Espresso Truffle ink. I colored it with Copic markers, then fussy cut it out. I used a white gel pen to brighten the white highlights on the eyes and nose. For the background, I stenciled the Fetch Stencil Set onto a panel of white cardstock. Cream Puff Paper Glaze Glass from the Felines Sampler was applied through the bones layer and Chocolate Frosting Paper Glaze Luxe from the Canines Sampler was used with the paw print stencil. Once dry, the panel was die-cut with the third largest deckle edge die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Vintage Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set. A panel of burnt orange cardstock was die-cut with the largest die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set. I used the largest rectangle die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Stamp Cover Plate with Postmarks Dies to cut the bottom layer from brown cardstock. All the layers were layered and adhered together using liquid glue. The pup was also adhered with liquid glue, letting the ear hang off the top of the card. The sentiment, from the Life Is Better With A Furry Friend Stamp Set, was stamped onto white cardstock with yellow and orange dye ink. It was die-cut with the second largest oval die in the Basic Die Cutting Die Set 1 and popped up with foam tape. A trio of hearts from the Pick Me Sequin Mix finishes off the card. That does it for me today!! Be sure to check out the rest of the December release in the shop!! Have a great week!! Brenda

Friend - A Peony of Contrast

by Brenda Noelke on Oct 22 2024
Hello, friends and happy Tuesday!! Brenda here with a friendship card featuring the stunning A Peony of Contrast Stamp Set!! This is definitely one of my faves from the October release!! I began by stamping the A Peony of Contrast Stamp Set onto white cardstock with pale tan ink for some no-line coloring. I colored it with Copic markers and colored pencils, then fussy cut it out. For the background, I spread Huckleberry Blue Paper Glaze onto a panel of navy cardstock through the Frame of Mind 6x8 Stencil with a palette knife. (I turned the stencil at an angle slightly for a little more interest.) Once it was totally dry, it was die-cut with the largest die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set. The peony was adhered with liquid glue. I also spread the Huckleberry Blue Paper Glaze onto a small piece of navy cardstock. Once that was dry, "friend" was die-cut from it using the Cheers My Friend Word Die Set, along with three more layers from navy cardstock. They were stacked and adhered together with liquid glue, then added to the front of the card. I decided to forgo any sequins or gems and let the beautiful bloom shine. I can't wait to color this stamp set with all the mediums!! Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Have a wonderful week!! Brenda

Hello, crafty friends and happy new week!! Brenda here with a mini slimline Christmas card to share featuring the adorable Reindeer at Play Stamps & Coordinating Dies, as well as several other goodies from Saturday's September Release!! I began by stamping the reindeer from the darling Reindeer at Play Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored them with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen, then cut them out with the Coordinating Dies. For the background, I spread Holly Leaf Green Paper Glaze Luxe through the Tree Farm Stencil onto a panel of white cardstock with a palette knife. Once it was dry, I trimmed the panel slightly smaller than mini slimline size and adhered it to a slimline panel of red cardstock.  The "Christmastime" sentiment was die-cut from red cardstock one time and heavyweight white cardstock twice using the Christmastime He's the Reason for the Season Word Die Set. The layers were adhered together using liquid glue. The sub-sentiment is from the Reindeer at Play Stamp Set. It was stamped onto white cardstock with red ink and cut out with the Coordinating Die. All the die-cuts were arranged and adhered to the background with liquid glue. A couple of candy clay pieces from the Oh, What Fun Sequin Mix Plus added to each side of the sub-sentiment finishes off the card. How sweet are those little reindeer?!? Soooooo cute!! A Yummy Treat For Someone So Sweet

by Brenda Noelke on Jan 15 2024
Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda here with you on this frigid Monday!! I hope you are staying safe and warm!! My goodness, is it cold outside!! It's the perfect weather to stay inside and do some baking, unless one of your resolutions is to cut back on sweets. In that case, I have the perfect solution...paper cookies!! Ha!! The newest January Release is chock-full of yummy cakes, cookies and treats to make your cards absolutely delicious!! I began by die-cutting the cookies and frosting bags in the Scene Building: Cookie Making Die Set from cream, white, red and pink cardstock. This set is so versatile!! There are so many dies to customize your cookies for different occasions!! The cookie sheet was cut from frosted silver cardstock. I added a bit of blending around the outside the cookies with brown ink and a Life Changing Blender Brush. I adhered all of the elements together and adhered the cookies to the pan with liquid glue, then added highlights with a white gel pen. For the background, I blended red and pink dye inks onto the first four layers of the Sprinkles 6x8 Layering Stencil Set with Life Changing Blender Brushes. I spread pink glaze in the Paper Glaze Velvet Soft Pastel Sampler Set onto the final layer with a palette knife. Once dry, I trimmed it slightly and adhered it to an A2 panel of red cardstock. The cookie sheet was adhered with liquid glue and the frosting bags were adhered with a combination of liquid glue at the tip and foam tape toward the opening of each bag. I trimmed the excess from the right side. The sentiment, from the Lick the Bowl Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto pink cardstock and trimmed into a narrow strip. It was popped up toward the bottom of the card with foam adhesive to finish it off. Be sure to check out the entire January Release in the shop!! It will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth!! Thank you so much for spending a bit of your Monday with me!! I appreciate your time!! Brenda

HiHeyHello - Longneck Family Kit

by Sammi Offield on Jun 09 2023
Hey crafty friends! Sammi here to share a card made with the AMAZING Longneck Family kit! This kit is FULL of so many goodies to play with! There are stamps, dies, glazes, sequins, a stencil, paper, twine and more! Today I am sharing a card made with the Hi Hey Hello, Giraffe stamp and the Long Neck Family kit Paper Glaze. This glaze is amazing! Here is how I made this card! Fist I stamped the giraffe with the PFS Black Hybrid Ink Pad and colored him with Copic markers. I then fussy cut out him out and then edged the edges with brown distress inks.  I really love the vintage piece of paper that comes with the kit. It is bigger than a A2 sized card, so I tore it down to size and then edged it with Distress inks to make it look aged. I then took the stencil and stenciled the piece with the Long Neck Family kit Paper Glaze and let it dry. After it was dry, I then curled in the edges in various spots to make it look more aged and added some more Distress ink.  In the kit are many colors of cardstock. I chose to use the darker hunter green color and I cut a piece down to a A2 size. In the kit is a small little sander. I love it! I took the sander and sanded the edges of the green piece of cardstock and then added some Distress ink to make it looked aged. I then cut a sentiment piece and repeated the same process. I then embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder.  I then glued the stenciled piece of paper onto the green card panel, then I glued the sentiment onto the card panel. I then added the giraffe with some foam tape and then glued the card panel onto a A2 card base. To finish the look, I added some sequins that come with the kit.  Here is what you need to make this card: Long Neck Family Exclusive Kit – Picket Fence Studios (pfstamps.com) Black Hybrid Ink Pad – Picket Fence Studios (pfstamps.com) I love how this card came out! It looks so safari! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Hello, crafty friends and happy Wednesday!! I hope you’re having a great week!! I have a monochromatic slimline card to share with you today featuring goodies from the latest April Release!! I started by stamping the amazing flamingo and sentiment from the Fabulous Flamingos Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. Once it was dry, I die cut it, along with a panel of white cardstock using dies from the Slim Line Nested Rectangles Die Set. Both panels were adhered to a white slimline card base. Three parts background idea with March release.

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Mar 22 2023
Hello, everyone! It´s Silvana here. Welcome to the PFS blog! Today I´m sharing a creative idea to use a lot of supplies of the new March release. But you can use whatever supplies that you already have in your stash!  Let´s talk about the card. It has a composition of three parts that fit together because the products that I use have the same "theme" (almost, but I made it happen lol). On the bottom of the card I used the new 6x8 Tree Bark Stencil which remind me of the peacock´s feathers so I decided to ink it in this beautiful bird´s colors. Yes, the stencil it´s made to resemble wood texture, but I thought of the pattern in the feathers... To apply the ink, I used a combination of the tools that Picket Fence Studios has: the Life Changing Blender Brushes for the soft hand, and the new (and amazing) Paper Pouncers for the heavy hand. The pouncers help to apply a lot of ink in an easy and comfortable way, so I´m in love with them.  On the right you can see the peacock from the new Illuminating Peacock stamp set and the sentiment is from the set too. I used two colors of ink here to make the peacock pop.  The top part of the card is my favorite one and has some work, but totally worth it. I started by creating a mask with the Fanciful Feathers Die cut in some kind of masking paper or wide temporary tape. I put them in the remaining space and then applied some ink with a heavy hand. After that, I put a thin layer of Paper Glitz Sparkle and waited to completely dry. I removed the feathers masks and the result was incredible! Shiny and different from the other two.  To finish the card I added some sequins from the new Sequin Mix Peacock tails. This card is a 5x7 one, so I cut the background 1/4 inch from each side and tape it with foam tape over the card base. The sentiment is also tape with dimensional tape.  I hope you like this idea and give it a try! Maybe you can search in your PFS products and find some that combines and make your own version.  Thank you so much for reading.  See you in my next post. Have a wonderful day! Silvana.

Hello everyone dear PFS friends, today we start the week and I want to bring you my inspiration. It is a card that opens on the front and you can insert a photo or a message, I find it very versatile and simple. To make it I chose the set  Soar Butterfly Die with this beautiful butterfly that I shaded with purple, fuchsia and green. I then applied  Paper Glaze Luxe - Wandering Gypsy  with a brush to give shine to the center of the butterfly and the  Paper Glaze - Raw Kale on the outside of the wings.  For the base of my card, I first shaded with purple, fuchsia, apple green and yellow, and decorated with the stencil Sea Scales 6x6 Stencil  and Paper Glaze Velvet - Duckling Fuzz deluxe. For the sentiment I chose the set  A Little Note Word DieI hope you like my inspiration today, see you next time!Claudia

Under the sea scene card

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Jan 18 2023
Hello, everyone! Happy New year! It´s Silvana here with another inspiration card featuring some of the new products from the January release.  This card has a background story. I live in the southern hemisphere and here we´re in summer, with very high temperatures, the ideal climate to go to the beach. One day, as I was  walking in the shore, the Atlantic Ocean was so clear and blue that inspired me to create the sea for this card.  But, I didn´t have any ocean themed stamps, so I just kept my photo of the ocean in my phone just in case. When I received the DT package and saw all the products of January release, I realize that this card was meant to be made. The new release not only has these beautiful stamp set called Even more of a fishy Lot with the coordinating die, but has a lot of fishy themed products! It was amazing and incredible.  This release also have a lot of stencils that goes perfectly with the ocean themed. I use the Sun with Rays 6x8 stencil to make the sunset sky. It´s a very special time, the sunset in our beaches. When the sun goes down over the sea, and dissapears completely, we applaude to say thanks for another beautiful summer day. It´s a special time to be in the beach. Of course, I couldn´t make this beautiful background without the help of my favourite tool for inkblending: the Life Changing Blender Brushes.  Our beaches are special, and we can have the opportunity to see some whales in a few specific months. We´re blessed with their visits. So, as I said, this is a unique and special card for me. I hope you enjoyed the story and give this products a try.  Thanks for reading.  Silvana.

Hello There-Current of Fish

by Heejung Hunsberger on May 13 2022
Hello Friends, Today I have a card to share with you using the Current of Fish Stencil and Gold Rose Glaze. I colored three different blue colors of water coloring on the watercolor paper first, and dry it completely. This current of fish stencil is 6 x 6 size, taped the stencil from behind of water-colored paper. Using a mixed media spatula, I applied a paper Glaze Gold Rose. I removed the stencil, cleaned it and the spatula and set the panel aside to dry.    I guess it might be not easy to color with water color for the beginner. but it is very easy to do stencil. I want to have some dimension to the word die-cut,I would have die cut the hello there die a third on white card stock and added it on top. I think having a bit of dimension really helps to make it stand out.   I hope enjoyed this project, Thank you for stopping by! I will be a card with new release next month! Happy Crafting!   Supplies

I'll Always Pick You

by Lisa Tilson on May 04 2022
Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using a stencil that was released last month. I love a stencil, you can do so much with them and today I decided to play with some Paper Glaze. The stencil that I am using today is Momma And Baby Giraffes A2. It's a lovely stencil and because of it's subject, I thought I would use some colours that you might see in an African sunset. I started by taking the stencil and a piece of black cardstock and I taped the stencil from behind. Using a Mixed Media Spatula I applied all three colours from Paper Glaze Ombre Pumpkin Spices through it. I tried them on a separate panel with a more random spread of colour but I preferred the tiered look that I got on this card panel that you see today. So, I applied the gold at the top, followed by the brown and then the beautiful red at the bottom. I removed the stencil, cleaned it and the spatula and set the panel aside to dry. Once it was dry, I trimmed it down and added it to a black top folding A2 card base using black Extra Wide Foam Tape. The sentiment is from I'll Always Pick You and it was stamped using Versamark Ink onto black cardstock. I applied Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set before trimming it out and adding it onto the panel, also with black Extra Wide Foam Tape. A very quick and easy card to make but I love the pretty colours against the black cardstock. The gold in particular is stunning but always difficult to photograph! Thank you for joining me today, I hope that you have a wonderful day and I will be back soon with another card for you. Happy crafting!

Sending Sympathy with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Jan 05 2022
Hello there - it's Rachelle with you today and unfortunately, I needed several sympathy cards during this past Christmas holiday. I made multiples of the same design and I'd like to share this layout. This is a mini-slimline design that started with an ink-blended background using the Slim Line Lots of Blossoms Stencil and a selection of blue Distress Oxide Inks. This panel was die cut using the larger rectangle from the Mini Slim Line Double Stitched Rectangles Die Cutting System. The Slim Line Oversized With Sympathy Word Die was cut from navy card stock, glued onto the stencil panel and the overhang was trimmed from the back side.  This panel was attached to a piece of pearlized aqua card stock and then adhered to a slim line card base. The card was finished up with a scattering of the beautiful pearly gray gems from the Moon Shadow Gem Mix. Thanks so much for joining me today! Hugs - Rachelle

Holly Jolly Christmas

by Sandi MacIver on Nov 26 2021

Hey cardmaking friends and welcome back.  It's Sandi MacIver here and today I have A Holly Jolly Christmas Card to share with you created with fun products from Picket Fence Studios. In creating this card, I've added a smooth silky textured background for interest and depth.  Paper Glaze and Paper Glitz are used in white which is striking but doesn't take away from the pretty holly art piece.  The gold mirror sentiment adds just the perfect amount of bling to the card.   How to create the A Holly Christmas Card. Start with a 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 piece of Hammermill White Cardstock.  Place the Triple Weave Stencil over it and add Snowdrop White Paper Glaze through it with a spatula, going up about 3/4 of the way. Next, cover a another piece of white cardstock 4-1/4 x 5-1/2, with a thin coat of Paper Glitz Sparkle and set that aside to dry. Using a Misti, stamp the Holly Jolly Christmas Stamp in copic friendly  Black ink and color with copic markers.  Cut it out with the coordinating die. COPICS USED: Green:  BG11, BG34, G19, G28 Pinks:  RV34, RV17, RV19 RV69 For the Sentiment: Use the Merry Christmas Word Topper Die over a piece of Mirror Gold card stock. Next, once the Paper Glaze is dry, glue the word topper across the bottom of the card front.  Flip it over and trim the ends before security it to a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Spellbinders Blue Spruce cardstock. Finally, trim to fit and then add the piece to a top folding A2 sized white card base. Die Cutting the Snowflake On the piece of cardstock with the Paper Glitz Sparkle, add the Snowflake Alice and die cut it out.  Cut two more in white cardstock. Next, use the fine tip on the Bearly Art Glue to glue the snowflakes together with the shiny one on top and then glue it to the top of the card. Finally, add the Holly piece with foam squares and you are done.            used for the Picket Fence Studios A Holly Christmas Card: Here are the products I used today.  Compensated affiliate links used  where available at no cost to you. Capricorn Girl cards with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Sep 21 2021
Hi guys!  It's Erica back on the Picket Fence Studios blog with a couple of cards, using the new Capricorn Girl stamp and diecut. There are currently four girls in the Horoscope girl range and the idea is to have all of the star signs eventually. I'm waiting for the Taurus Girl, as a May birthday gal. Hint, hint, lol!    I have stamped the Capricorn Girl with Black Hybrid Ink on Copic friendly paper, with the help of a MISTI. I have then coloured them both up with LOADS of Copics, to get a couple of different looks. One girl got a silver hair look, and the other girl got turquoise hair.  Skin and makeup wise, they ended up quite similar. I'm experimenting a little with skin and makeup colouring, and currently I'm quite into contouring to bring the face to life. Sometimes it's a bit over the top, and other times it's more subtle. I definitely need to practice more though, so please be kind.  When the colouring was done, I used the coordinating diecut on the images and put those aside while I worked on the rest of the cards. Directly on a card base I have ink blended a background in a rainbow look, through the Details Of A Wing stencil. I've used a range of Life Changing Blender Brushes and a light hand to get a soft look. This card was turned into a birthday card with the help of the Happy Birthday Word Topper die, and I stamped up 'I hope you have a a fantastic day' with Black Hybrid ink on top. This is from the Word Topper Subtitles stamp set.  For the second card, I experimented with the new Paper Glitz over the Details Of A Wing stencil and Centre Flower stencil. On a blue card stock panel, I used the Details Of A Wing stencil with the Navy Wingtip Paper Glitz.  With Silver Bells Paper Glaze and the Centre Flower stencil, I used them on white card stock, and it looks AHHH-mazing! That mica and glitter are so gorgeous. It came through so perfect, and you don't need much! Don't go nuts, and slap on half a jar. You only need a little bit as it's so opaque.  When these were dry I puzzled a little back and forth, and the Silver Bells piece was trimmed down a little and I tried it with a black card base. That looked so good, and I also stamped up the sentiment from the Capricorn Girl on a strip of card stock, added that and a few Moon Shade gems. This colour combo made her eyes pop like crazy and I love that!  I used the same pieces on the blue background, and this made her hair kind of glow, which was unexpected. I love this with card making. You have a plan, you execute that plan (usually with a few detours, if you craft like I do) and then things do not end up like you think, but better! Never stop experimenting with your Cardmaking and crafting, you never know what you might end up with.  So, full disclosure, I didn't glue these pieces together, because I still wasn't sure I was ready to. I puzzled them together back and forth, took pictures and then fiddled some more. They still are not fully put together, but who knows, maybe soon I will find that bit that makes it all click into place.  The rainbow one was easy peasy, that one was done in like an hour. NO hesitation at all, I knew exactly how I wanted that one. Funny that, isn't it?  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and the card, as well as the photos of the puzzled together ones. If you aren't sure what you want for your card, don't commit by glueing anything down. Walk away for a bit and come back with fresh eyes another day. Sometimes all you need is a break from looking at the same thing, and it will look differently the next day.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
