Hugs from Afar Scenic Card

by Sara Sherlock on Apr 01 2022
Hello!Β  It's Sara, fromΒ Much Love, Sara.Β  I have a fun slim line card to share with you today.Β  This card features two ink blended backgrounds, with some of the adorable critters fromΒ The Best Hugs Ever Stamp Set.Β Β  Β  I started by stamping the critters inΒ Black Hybrid Ink, and quickly colored them in with my Polychromos pencils.Β  Then I die cut them out with theΒ coordinating dies.Β  While my die cutting machine was out, I also die cut theΒ Slim Line Hugs from Afar Word Topper DieΒ from black card stock.Β  To change the layout of the die, I laid it on a strip of 8.5" card stock, with the words in the center, then left the left edge hanging off of the bottom plate, so the edge would not cut.Β  Then I could use my trimmer to cut the rest of the strip out.Β  Β I did not add a subtitle to this strip, however, wanted a small detail, so I stamped and white heat embossed the small hearts from the stamp set.Β Β  Β  Β  To create the backgrounds for my critters, I used theΒ Water Coloring Scene Building Stencil, turned so the stencil was horizontal.Β  I used a small bit of painters tape to create the "hill".Β  Then I ink blended some Distress Oxide Inks, using myΒ Life Changing Blender Brushes.Β  For the icy scene, I used Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot.Β  Β Before removing the stencil, I splattered water on the background.Β Β  Β  To create the warmer savannah background, I used Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Inks.Β  I sprayed water onto a wadded up paper towel, and dabbed that over the sky area to create soft clouds.Β Β  Once the ink blended panel was dry, I assembled the card, and adhered it to a white card base. Β Β  I hope you enjoyed today's project.Β Β Find more cards using products from the recentΒ FebruaryΒ ReleaseΒ over on my blog.Β  Have a fantastic Tuesday!Β  Much Love,Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  SaraΒ Β Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  Β
