Happy Easter - Joyful Easter Stamps & Dies

by Brenda Noelke on Jan 17 2025
Hello, fellow crafters and happy Friday!! Brenda here with an Easter card featuring the Joyful Easter Stamp Set and Coordinating Dies, along with the Layers of Embroidery Stamp!! This color scheme just screams SPRING to me, which I am sooooo ready for!! I know, it's only January, but I can wish for spring to come sooner rather than later!! To begin, I stamped the floral bouquet and leaves from the Joyful Easter Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored the images with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen, accented the stamen with a yellow gel pen, then used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out. They were arranged and adhered together using liquid glue, then set aside to work on the background. I white heat embossed the Layers of Embroidery Stamp onto a panel of lilac cardstock. Several of the rectangle dies in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set to create lots of layers in the background. The embossed panel was die-cut with the smallest rectangle in the die set. I used the second smallest die in the same set to cut a mat from white cardstock. The second largest die was cut from a lilac gingham panel in the Lovely Gingham Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Fronts Pack. All the layers were stacked and adhered together using liquid glue, then adhered to an A2 white card base. The basket of blooms was popped up with foam tape. The sentiment, also from the Joyful Easter Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto black cardstock. I cut it out with the Coordinating Die and adhered it with a combination of foam tape and liquid glue. A sprinkling of purple sequins from the Easter Bop Sequin Mix Plus adds a bit of sparkle and finishes off the card. I love how the bright colors in the bouquet pop off of the soft, pastel background!! Thank you so much for dropping by today!! Have a wonderful weekend!! Brenda

Hot Air Ballon Shaker

by Andrea Shell on Nov 19 2024
Hi there! It’s Andrea with you to share a colorful card featuring new goodies from Picket Fence Studios! Isn’t that hot air balloon fun?! I created it with the new Hot Air Balloon Dies, which coordinate perfectly with the new A2 Cloud Peek A Boo Dies that I used for my shaker frame. I started by diecutting white cardstock with the Hot Air Balloon Dies. I placed each piece onto the 4x4 Paper Inking Palette and colored them with dye inks that I applied with the Life Changing Blender Brushes. I assembled the balloon with liquid adhesive and added highlights with a white gel pen. That awesome background is from the Adventures in Hot Air Ballooning Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts. To frame the panel, I diecut white cardstock with the A2 Cloud Peek A Boo Dies. I blended the diecut with pink ink and added splatters of water. I backed the cloud diecut with clear acetate and a layer of foam tape and used the new Carnival Day sequin mix for my shaker. For my sentiment I combined the Swanky Sentiments: Salutations stamp with the Hot Air Balloons Sighting set. I heat-embossed “hello” from the Swanky Sentiments set in gold onto white cardstock and diecut it with the coordinating dies. I white heat-embossed the supporting sentiment from the Hot Air Balloons Sighting set onto pink cardstock and trimmed it down. I popped up the hot air balloon and sentiments with foam adhesive and finished with a few pearls from the Carnival Day mix. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Hello, fellow crafters!! Brenda here with a fun Easter shaker card to share with you today!! I'm sooo ready for Spring and this card just screams "Spring!!" with its soft pastel colors!! I began by stamping the Peter Bunny & Friends Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored the image with Copic markers and fussy cut it out. (There is a Coordinating Die Set available, but it is out of stock right now.) Next, I white heat embossed the Easter Egg Time Stamp Set onto a panel of white cardstock and blended pastel colors of Distress Oxide Inks onto the panel with Life Changing Blender Brushes. I die-cut a circle into the panel with the 3.0 Connected Circles Shaker Creator Dies. I also die-cut a larger circle from a shaker sheet using the same die set and adhered it to the back of the ink-blended panel. I applied foam adhesive to the back of the panel, added Hop and Bunny Honey embellishments, then lined up the circle die-cut and adhered it so the eggs matched seamlessly with the background. The panel was then adhered to a white A2 card base. The Peter Bunny & Friends image was adhered to the front of the card with liquid adhesive. Christmas Countdown: 10 Awesome Facts About Christmas!

by Jen Kray on Dec 23 2022

Hi friends and welcome to the penultimate blog post for our Christmas Countdown! With only TWO days left until Christmas Day I hope that all your presents are gift-wrapped, and the feast is about to get lit up!  I adore everything about Christmas, and the quality time spent with family is the absolute best! For my post today I have a lovely card but before that, let's share 10  awesome facts about Christmas. 1. 'kurisumasu ni wa kentakkii!' or 'Kentucky for Christmas!'  KFC has been the ultimate Japanese Christmas food since December 1974, just four years after the first KFC store arrived in Japan. So how did it all begin? Okawara went to a Christmas party dressed as Santa Claus, and when the kids loved it, he was inspired to create the KFC Christmas specials. Today, millions of people in Japan visit KFC on Christmas Day. 2. 'Jingle Bells' was the first song played in space On the 16 December 1965, the song 'Jingle Bells' made history by becoming the first song to be played in space during NASA’s Gemini 6A space flight.  3. The Christmas Tree Tradition started in Germany It is believed Germany began the tradition of the Christmas tree. Additionally, tinsel, which was once made of actual silver, is traced to 1610 in Germany. 4. Thomas Nast is responsible for the modern Santa Clause The Coca-Cola company is often credited with creating the red coated modern image of Santa Claus we know and love today but this isn’t true. Most of his modern image was put together by Thomas Nast in the 1870s. 5. Yule Lads In Iceland, Yule Lads visit children on the 13 lights leading up to Christmas Day. The children will leave shoes under the window for 13 these mischievous trolls. If the child has been good, they’ll find sweets in their shoe but if they’ve been bad, the Yule lads will leave them a rotten potato! 6. The Christmas Wreath The Christmas wreath is representative of the crown of thorns that Jesus wore. Eventually, the colours of Christmas – red, green, and gold were added. Red is said to represent the blood of Jesus, green is supposed to symbolise life, and gold stands for royalty and light. And the evergreen foliage used to make Christmas wreaths symbolises the continuity of life and nature even in the darkest days of winters. 7. The term 'Xmas' simply means Christmas  The use of the term ‘Xmas’ dates back to the 16th century. The ‘X’ in the word Xmas comes from the ancient Greek language. In Greek, Christ begins with the letter X. So, Xmas simply means Christmas. 8. Boxing Day Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated after Christmas Day, occurring on the second day of Christmastide (26 December), and originated as a holiday to give gifts to the poor. 9. Midnight Mass  The practice of Midnight Mass has been a tradition followed for a long time by the Roman Catholic Church.Significance of this custom lies in the ‘personal importance of forgiving’. The Midnight Mass is a vigil mass that involves waiting joyfully for the arrival of the Savior, Jesus. Families get together to celebrate this joyous occasion every year. 10. Christmas Stockings Hanging stockings out comes from the Dutch custom of leaving shoes packed with food for St Nicholas’s donkeys. He would leave small gifts in return. Did you enjoy those fun facts? I love books, and acquiring knowledge in general but who doesn't want to learn cool things about one of the biggest holiday of the year.  A2 Card - Welcome Winter Today, I have a card, which is a beautifully traditional wreath. The wreath is my favorite Christmas image and I hope that I've done it justice for you today.  First, I stamped out the wreath onto an A2 piece of smooth white alcohol friendly card and colored with Copic Markers. Next, I stamped out two Cardinals and colored them with Copic Markers. Either fussy cut or die cut the Cardinals, and set aside. Stamp 'welcome winter' using gold embossing powder. Stamp out the second sentiment onto navy card, and gold heat emboss. Trim to size. Trim the card panel 5.25" x 4" and mount onto a nay card base. Assemble the Cardinals and sentiment, then add sequins to the front of the card to finish.  Thank you so much for joining me today on the PFS Blog and I hope to see you soon.  Have a wonderful Christmas, and a very happy New Year!  Lots of love and hugs, Jen  SHOPPING BASKET Some links I use are affiliated. This means that I make a small commission when you shop through them. But don't worry, this doesn't affect the cost to you. Thank you for support me as a small creator and as part of the PFS Design Team.

Seasonal Christmas Flowers Poinsettia Cards

by Brenda Noelke on Sep 22 2022
Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda here with my first blog post as a member of the talented & amazing design team!! I’m super excited to be able to share some of my creations with Picket Fence products!! I’ve always been a huge fan!! I’ve really been enjoying creating with the latest September release!! One of the first sets that caught my eye was the stunning Seasonal Christmas Flowers Stamp Set!! The poinsettia is such an iconic holiday symbol and I couldn’t wait to color these!! I began by stamping all of the images in the Seasonal Christmas Flowers Stamp Set with Black Hybrid Ink. After coloring them with Copic markers, I cut them out with the Coordinating Die Set. I’ve always loved the contrast of black with bright red poinsettias, so I trimmed a panel of black cardstock to 4” x 5.25”. I adhered the leaves and holly with liquid glue and popped the poinsettias up with foam tape. I diluted some Snowdrop White Glaze with water and splattered it over the panel and poinsettias with a paint brush.   Once that was dry, I adhered it to a panel of white cardstock, then an A2 panel of red cardstock, before adhering it to my card base. The sentiments, from the Swanky Christmas Sentiment Set, were white heat embossed onto black cardstock, then cut out with the Coordinating Dies. I love these fonts!! They were also popped up with foam tape. For the finishing touches, I dotted some Golden Sparkle Paper Glitz onto the centers of the poinsettias with a stylus and added a combination of Dancing Reindeer & A Classic Christmas sequin mixes.   Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me!! Have a great Thursday and I’ll see you soon!! Brenda

Jack O Lantern Coloured Pencils Card with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Jul 28 2020

BOO! Or hi, rather.  It's Erica on the blog today with a spooktacular card, using the new Jack O Lantern stamp. I've tried my hand at coloured pencils on black card stock, but I was really rusty so it's not as blended or as crisp as I imagined it in my head.  I stamped the Jack O Lantern stamp up on black card stock, with the help of my MISTI. This is done with the Embossing Pad from WOW! Embossing and heat embossed with Clear Gloss embossing powder. What I should have done here is stamped it up with a pigment ink, coloured it in and then heat embossed on top. You do get much cleaner lines that way. Oh well, another memo for self for another time.  As the card stock is black, I laid down a layer of Cream first. The pencils I have used are Prismacolour.  To get some highlights on the pumpkins, I next added a yellow layer. At this stage it looks a real mess, I will confess, however as with most colouring, it's key to be patient.  Next, I have gone in with my darkest colour. This is actually a reddish colour, Light Cadmium Red. To blend this dark colour into the lighter parts, I've used a more orange pencil, Orange Glaze. I didn't go all the way down onto the yellow parts yet, though. That's for the next step.   The last colour I added was Cadmium Orange. This was my bridge between the yellow parts and the red-orange parts. I probably spent the most time with this colour too, to make the blend as smooth as possible. When you are finished with this, move on to your next pumpkin and keep doing the steps until you are happy. I didn't do every single one, just a flowy pattern of them.  To finish off the card I have heat embossed a sentiment from Favorite Notifications, in white on black card stock. This is then trimmed down with scissors around the text to make it as small as possible. I have also cut out the word BOO using Tall Type Alphabet Dies from Concord & 9th. To keep to the Halloween theme, I used some alcohol inks on Yupo paper and then cut the letters out of this.  These bits and pieces were then adhered to the card with some liquid glue, and the whole card was adhered to a card base. Hocus pocus, all done!  That's it from me for today, but thank you for stopping by! I hope you found some inspiration here with me.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
