Basket of Fun: Combining Dies and Stamps to Create a Scene

by Andrea Shell on Jan 28 2025
Hi there! It's Andrea back to share a colorful Easter card featuring Picket Fence Studios' January release. I just adore those cute bunnies from the Follow that Bunny stamp set! I wanted to combine them with the new Scene Building: A Tisket a Tasket Basket Die and Easter Egg Swag Die for a fun scene. I colored the bunnies with Copics and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I diecut the basket from lavender and yellow cardstocks with the A Tisket a Tasket Basket Die. I trimmed thin strips of lavender cardstock and wove them through the slits of the basket, securing the ends with liquid adhesive. I added shading with Copics to create some dimension. I diecut the eggs from colored cardstock with the Easter Egg Swag Die. Using my scissors, I trimmed the bows from the eggs, backed them with colored cardstock and added shading with Copics. For my background I first diecut white cardstock with the Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die. After masking the outside edges of the diecut, I ink-blended the grass and sky with dye inks and Life Changing Blender Brushes. To create the sun rays, I used the Sun with Rays 6x8 Stencil. After ink-blending, I flicked water across the grass portion and blotted it with a paper towel. Next, I covered the bottom half of the panel and added Opaque Pale Yellow, Opaque Pale Lavender, and Opaque White Paper Splatters to the top. Once the panel was dry, I removed the masks and adhered the background to one of the Lovely Gingham Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts. I arranged my Easter basket, eggs and colored images onto my card, adhering them with a combination of glue and varying heights of foam adhesive. For my focal sentiment, I diecut the Happy Easter Word Die from glitter and white cardstocks and stacked the diecuts on my card. I stamped a supporting sentiment from Follow that Bunny, cut it out with the coordinating die, and popped it up onto my card. Thanks for stopping by! I had so much fun creating this card, and I hope it inspires you to combine dies and stamps to create little scenes on your projects, as well! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

On This Special Day card

by Evgeniya Ishbul’dina on Mar 17 2023
Hello there! It's Eugy here, and today I'm sharing this bright birthday card I made using the fun sentiment die set called "On This Special Day Word Die." I've been wanting to use this word die set for quite some time now to make a special card for someone's birthday, and I'm so excited to finally share how it turned out. I love how the large, blocky font of this die cut sentiment contrasts with the fun, whimsical patterns on the patterned paper I created for the card base. Here I paired the Tree Bark 6×8 Stencil and the Presents for All Seasons stamp. This was the first time I tried brand new tool: Paper Pouncers. The stencil and pouncers are versatile tools that can be used in many different ways to create a wide array of beautiful patterns and textures. I look forward to experimenting further with these products to achieve additional unique effects and backgrounds in the future. I accented the card with some gold foil cardstock for some fun texture and finished it off with a few gemstones from the Ghost House Gem Mix. Overall I'm really pleased with how this birthday card turned out. I hope it inspires you in your own crafting and card making adventures! Have a great weekend! Eugy

Under the sea scene card

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Jan 18 2023
Hello, everyone! Happy New year! It´s Silvana here with another inspiration card featuring some of the new products from the January release.  This card has a background story. I live in the southern hemisphere and here we´re in summer, with very high temperatures, the ideal climate to go to the beach. One day, as I was  walking in the shore, the Atlantic Ocean was so clear and blue that inspired me to create the sea for this card.  But, I didn´t have any ocean themed stamps, so I just kept my photo of the ocean in my phone just in case. When I received the DT package and saw all the products of January release, I realize that this card was meant to be made. The new release not only has these beautiful stamp set called Even more of a fishy Lot with the coordinating die, but has a lot of fishy themed products! It was amazing and incredible.  This release also have a lot of stencils that goes perfectly with the ocean themed. I use the Sun with Rays 6x8 stencil to make the sunset sky. It´s a very special time, the sunset in our beaches. When the sun goes down over the sea, and dissapears completely, we applaude to say thanks for another beautiful summer day. It´s a special time to be in the beach. Of course, I couldn´t make this beautiful background without the help of my favourite tool for inkblending: the Life Changing Blender Brushes.  Our beaches are special, and we can have the opportunity to see some whales in a few specific months. We´re blessed with their visits. So, as I said, this is a unique and special card for me. I hope you enjoyed the story and give this products a try.  Thanks for reading.  Silvana.

One stamp set, two different styles. Featuring Rockin' around the Christmas Tree stamp set.

by Evgeniya Ishbul’dina on Nov 10 2022
Hi there! Eugy here and today I’m sharing two Christmas card ideas using Rockin' around the Christmas Tree stamp and coordinating die from the October release.   I wanted my first card to be a clean and simple, so I used the masking tape technique. I stamped the scene I had on my mind and simply colored it with copic markers.   This is a very fun technique, it helps you create a lot of different compositions and scenes. Guess which of the characters I stamped first? My second card is completely different, it’s bright and bold 🤪😁 After I stamped and colored all little critters, I started thinking about the background. And it seemed to me that a non-Christmas stencil would be perfect here. Or rather, Tropical Leaves A2 Stencil! A great versatile design that suits any season! And as a finishing touch, I used a glitter sentiment on a vellum backing. Hope you liked this card ideas! Happy crafting and have a great weekend! Eugy

Falling Snowflakes Shaker Card by Theary Chea

by Theary Chea on Oct 24 2022
Hello there everyone! It's Theary here, back on the blog again. Today, I wanted to share a fun shaker card that I created using fantastic products from the shop. If you haven't checked out the latest release, you can do so here: October 2022 Release. The background of this shaker card is just beautiful. And the best part is that it was super easy to make. It's so hard to capture the colors and sparkle on camera. But I can assure you that it's a showstopper! I used Falling Snowflakes Stencil on top of white cardstock and my Life Changing Blender Brushes to blend a couple of shades of pink and purple ink. After I removed the stencil, I went in with the ink leftover on my brushes and blended it around the cardstock to create some interest. I wanted the perfect sentiment for this shaker card, so I heat embossed in gold the Merry Christmas from the To All A Goodnight stamp set onto a heat-resistant acetate. Be sure to use a heat-resistant acetate, as a regular acetate will warp and burn. This sentiment is perfect to have in your holiday cardmaking stash. It's so whimsical, and the size is just perfect for any size card front. I used a rectangle stitched frame in my stash to create the frame of my shaker card. You can pretty much use anything that you have on hand. I went ahead and ran that through my die-cutting machine a few times out of white cardstock and layered it with the heat-embossed acetate in between using liquid adhesive. This will create the shaker well for our shaker card. Before I assembled the shaker card, I went ahead and cut the Snowflake Prism out of vellum. I adhered the vellum snowflake onto the center of the ink-blended background. Then, I added Snowflakes Sequins Clay and Embellishments and attached the acetate panel to the ink-blended panel. I then adhered everything to a white top folding card base. And, that's it! I hope you found some inspiration and get crafty in your craft space! Until next time! Have a wonderfully blessed day, Theary Chea (@cloudycoraldesigns)

Rainbow Christmas

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Oct 06 2022
Hello! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia. Today I´m sharing this card showing a non traditional coloring for Christmas: rainbow! Because there are more colors than green and red, right? I started by making the background with a light blending of rainbow colors. the best tools to make the perfect soft coloring are the Life changing Blender brushes that you can purchase individually or in 2, 4 or 6 pack in the PFS web.  With the Slimline Christmas Tree Lot Stencil I colored over the background with a generous and heavy amount of ink, to make the contrast.  The Scene builder Brick wall stamp it´s perfect to use with the Animal Crackers Christmas wishes stamp because the animals are hanging off the wall. I also used the coordinated die for this cute stamp.  To finish the card, I added the sentiment from the An animal Crackers Christmas Hello stamp set cut with the coordinated die.  I hope you like it and try to put a little color into your Christmas cards! Thank you so much for stopping by. Silvana.

A Polar Bear Winter Celebration scene card

by Evgeniya Ishbul’dina on Sep 30 2022
Happy Friday, friends! Eugy here! Today I’m sharing a quick New Year themed card featuring stamp set called A Polar Bear Winter Celebration from the September release! After I prepared a blended background using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I created some light accent using the Winter Rings 6x6 Stencil and some darker inks.  Then I made a shaker and filled it with gorgeous A Classic Christmas Sequin Mix.  After that I stamped, die-cutted and colored these two cuties from stamp set. I love how this new year celebration scene turned out, soo cute!  Happy crafting and have a great weekend! Eugy

Build a Halloween Scene Using a Christmas Stamp

by Theary Chea on Sep 12 2022
Hello dear friends! I hope that you're having a wonderful week. Today, I want to share some inspiration to stretch your crafting supplies. This might sound crazy, but I used a Christmas stamp to create a Halloween card for this project. Yup, you heard that correctly. It's so fun to find a different use for your holiday-themed stamps, and it makes it that much more worth it when you're able to stretch it to work with two separate holidays. This card used the masking technique heavily. If you know anything about me, I love to mask and color. Creating a one-layered card can be challenging, but using the masking method makes it that much easier. I used the Build a Gingerbread House stamp set to create a spooky house on my card front. Instead of using traditional Christmas colors, I opted for a darker palette to portray a creepy Halloween house. I used alcohol markers to color the scene as well as ink blending. To add to the scene, I used the Slim Line Welcome to the Graveyard Blending Stencil and the A2 Claudron of Bats stencil. These stencils are excellent because there are so many different elements that you can use to build a Halloween scene. To give some of the images more dimension and texture, I applied a layer of Paper Velvet onto the stencil using my Mix Media Spatula. I heat embossed onto black cardstock using white embossing powder, a sentiment from the Here For The Boo stamp set. And I added a black frame using the 5x7 Stitched Rectangle die. To finish off the card, I wanted to add some embellishments. The Scaredy Cat Sequin mix is perfect for the scene I was building. The mix includes little black cats that I adhered to the card front and added white details on it to create more interest. I hope you found some inspiration to mix and match the stamp sets that you already have to create something unexpected. Until next time!Have a wonderfully blessed day!Theary Chea

Halloween scene card

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Aug 18 2022

Hello there! It´s Silvana here and I´m so glad to be here again in the Picket Fence Studios. Today I´m sharing an interactive Halloween scene card featuring some new products of the new release. The first product I used was the A2 Spooky Tree die which I cut in a textured black cardstock and panel the little houses with vellum paper. This card has lights behind the house that turnoson when you press the Halloween word. I ink blended the background to make the night scene with the moon. With the Life changing Blender Brushes the transitions between colors are smooth and well integrated.  Then I used then new A2 Cauldron of Bats stencil with the new Paper Glaze Velvet in Blackboard color.  The word Halloween is heat embossed with white embossing powder and it comes from the new Cat plays Fiddle to the Silver Moon stamp set.  I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it! If you want to see the lights in action, be sure to check the post in my Ig account. Thanks for stopping by. See you in my next post, Silvana.

Clean and Simple five-minute cards

Happy Friday! Eugy here, today I’m sharing some Clean and Simple card ideas using the Fancy Life Events Sentiments stamp set (it has coordinating dies!) and other gorgeous products from the July release. All of my cards were super easy to make! But first, just a little reminder that we have a Flash Sale on site (exclude the July release). I made my first card using heart stamp from Ink Swatching stamp set. I was so excited to try this new stamp and I found it’s super fun and easy to use - I already created swatches for all my “inks for stamping”! After I stamped my background, I added a sentiment and some glitter cardstock. Voila, my card is ready! To get beautifully blended two-tone gradient impressions, I used Life Changing Blender Brushes to blend ink before stamping. And the best thing about Fancy Life Events Sentiments stamp set is that it has coordinating dies! For my second card, I prepared the card base by coloring it using ink pad technique. After that, I simply diecutted a white card panel with new gorgeous Opulent Negative Strip Die and mounted it on my pre-colored card base using 3d foam squares. The sentiment stamped in black ink seemed too bright to me, and I muted it with some pearl embossing powder. For my last card, I wanted something not usual, maybe some dry embossing effect. So I embossed white A2 panel with new Opulent Negative Strip Die (I use a standard sandwich for Cuttlebug), added colorful sentiment and some crystals for an extra sparkle. As you can see, all those cards can be done in five minutes! Go check out the entire July release or Flash Sale! Happy crafting and have a great weekend! Eugy

Done Adulting for The Day Shaker Card by Theary Chea

by Theary Chea on Jul 11 2022
Hello PFS family!I am happy to be back on the blog, sharing another card with you all today. I have been dreaming about a tropical getaway, and that very feeling inspired this card. I inked and blended a few shades of hybrid inks onto white cardstock using my wonderful PFS Life Changing Blender Brushes. If you haven't tried using these brushes yet, you should pick up a few because they're so soft and make blending effortless. After blending the background, I taped down the Tropical Leaves Stencil and spread a thin layer of Paper Glaze Luxe in Arctic Fox and Spanish Moss using my Mixed Media Spatulas. And, guys! These colors are so beautiful in person; the camera doesn't capture the incredible shine. If you're not aware, the finish of the Paper Glaze Luxe is actually quite different from the other Paper Glaze line. The Luxe line is fortify with a mixture of mica and glitter resulting in an luscious shine and shimmer. It's absolutely beautiful in person.  Then using a basic oval die from my stash, I die-cut the center of the stencil out using my die-cutting machine to create a shaker window. Before I adhered the acetate sheet to the back of the stenciled panel, I heat-embossed one of the sentiments in black embossing powder onto the acetate sheet. After that, I adhered it to the stenciled panel and applied foam tape on the back to create a shaker well. I used Sandy Toes Sequins Mix to add to the shaker well for the shaker elements. I felt that the color palette of this particular mix was spot on with the whole tropical beach vibe theme. From there, I placed that onto a piece of cardstock that I inked blended with an area of light beige ink only to the area seen through the shaker window. I stamped out the image from the Done Adulting For The Day set in our alcohol-friendly Hybrid Black Ink and colored it in with alcohol-markers. When starting out with my coloring journey, I didn't realized how important it was to have the correct type of ink pads and paper for different types of project. Good thing is, our Hybrid Black Ink works well with a lot of different types of medium. My favorite paper to use with alcohol-markers is a smooth-thick cardstock. After coloring in the image, I then used the coordinating dies to cut it out and adhered it to the front of the card front with foam squares.  Finally, I adhered the entire piece to a side folding card base. So, that's it! I love the dimension of the Paper Glaze Luxe. It's such a great texture on a card front to create just enough drama. I hope you enjoy this tutorial, and I look forward to chatting with you all soon. Have a wonderfully blessed day!Theary CheaPicket Fence Studios Products Used:Done Adulting For The Day Sandy Toes Sequin Mix Tropical Leaves Stencil Paper Glaze Luxe Spanish Moss Paper Glaze Luxe Arctic Fox Life Changing  Blender Brushes  Hybrid Black Ink Pad

Hi all friends, I am happy to be here on the blog with a new inspiration. In the June release came out this fantastic stamp..... A Hummingbird's Song  and as soon as I saw it I had the idea how to make my own card. I created the background by mixing 6 different shades of ink, then stamped with black embossing powder. I really like the silhouette effect and I think this stamp is perfect for this technique. To embellish, I used Sequin Mix Plus Day of RaimbowHave a great week!!! Claudia

Stay Strong

by Lisa Tilson on May 25 2022
Hello there, Lisa here with you today. I hope that you are all well! Today I have a card to share with you using the new Speedy Recovery stamp set, along with the A2 Blooming Iris stencil which was released last month. I didn't get a chance to use the stencil last month and as soon as I saw the Speedy Recovery set, I knew that I would pair them up. I love the way, in real life, iris's stand tall and strong and that's why I thought they would go well together.   I began by spraying Pixie Spray onto the back of the stencil and letting it sit for a minute or so. I then secured it to a panel of 80lb white cardstock. Using Life Changing Blender Brushes I blended Altenew Inks through the stencil. For the stems I used Moss and Olive; the flowers were inked with Lavender Fields and Deep Iris and the centres with Warm Sunshine. I did mask off areas as I went so that I got a crisp image without too much contamination of colour in other areas. I then did a little bit of pencil colouring over the inks to deepen some of the areas and I used Faber Castell Polychromos Olive Green Yellowish (173) and Mauve (249) for that. Next, I smooshed some Black Soot Distress Ink onto my glass mat, spritzed it with a little bit of water and then flicked some splatter over the panel. I left it to dry and then I popped it into the MISTI.  Using Black Hybrid Ink, I double stamped the Stay Strong sentiment from Speedy Recovery. To finish the card I adhered a few Iridescent Moonshine Sequins using wet adhesive and then added the panel onto a top folding A2 heavyweight note card. That brings me to the end of the card. I always enjoy using stencils whatever the medium. I hope that you get some time to craft today and maybe ink up a stencil or two yourselves. Until next time, have a great day!

Love Ya!

by Lisa Tilson on Mar 23 2022
Hello there, Lisa here with you today to share a mini slim line card featuring the beautiful Slim Line Rose Lines stencil. This stencil is so pretty, very delicate and intricate. I couldn't wait to ink it up! I began by taking a panel of 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock and placing the stencil down over the top. I secured it from behind using low tack tape. Using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks through the stencil. I used Seedless Preserves at both ends, followed by Picked Raspberry at both ends. Worn Lipstick is the central colour. I always repeat the blending several times to make sure I get a good transition of colour between each ink. Next, I die cut the panel using one of the scalloped dies from Mini Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles. Next I took the Love Ya word dies included in the same slim line die set and die cut them three times from 110lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. They were adhered together to form a small stack. I then adhered this stack onto my ink blended panel and this in turn was added onto a top folding horizontal base card. To finish the card I added some of the new Pink Bottlecap Flowers Sequins. It's a bit difficult to see them on the card but I have them arranged around the word die. I really love this stencil and it also comes in a 6 x 6 version so you have lots of options for creating different sized cards with them.  Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a great week!

Love, this card is for you

by Claudia Cubas on Feb 01 2022
Hello dear friends, Valentine's Day is approaching and I created the card that I will give to my husband.  It's not always easy to create cards for men, but I believe that men have kind souls too, especially him who loves animals. That's why I added these little bunnies. All in shades of blue that he loves. To create it I prepared the background using the stencil Slim Line Raimbow of Hearts with my Life Changing Blender Brush  I then prepared the paper for the word Love from the set  Mini Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles  applying it in this gorgeous blue Paper Gliz Navy Wingtips, let it dry well and die cut it. I then die cut Love in black and white to give depth to the wording. And here is my finished card, a couple of half pearls  Gradient Flatback Pearls Navy Blu and Charcoal Gray  to give shine. I'm happy with the result and I think my love will like it too!!! Claudia
