Happy Easter - Peach & Piper: Easter Adventures

by Brenda Noelke on Jan 31 2025
Happy Friday, fellow card makers!! I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend!! Brenda here with a sweet Easter card featuring the adorable Peach & Piper: Easter Adventures Stamps & Coordinating Dies, along with a few other goodies from the January release!! I began by stamping the images from the Peach & Piper: Easter Adventures Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored them with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen, then used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out. (Save 10% when you purchase the stamps & dies together here.) I used a black gel pen to darken the eyes and noses of the critters. Next, I blended Tumbled Glass Distress Ink onto a panel of white cardstock using Life Changing Blender Brushes. I blended Mowed Lawn Distress Ink onto the bottom of the panel using the grass stencil in the Scene Building A2 Stencil Set: Layers of Adventure. The clouds, from the same stencil set, were added to the sky using Incandescent Paper Glaze. The panel was die-cut with the third largest die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangles and Cover Plate Die Set. It was adhered with liquid glue to a pink panel of cardstock that was die-cut with the largest die in the same die set. The darling Peach & Piper die-cuts were adhered with liquid glue. For the sentiment, I spread a thin layer of the lightest shade of pink glaze in the Pink Ombre Haze Paper Glaze Sampler onto a panel of white cardstock. Once it was dry, I die-cut it, along with two more layers from heavyweight white cardstock, using the Happy Easter Word Die. The layers were stacked and adhered together using liquid glue, then added to the bottom of the panel. Bunny shaped embellishments from the Bunny Bop Sequin Mix Plus Mix and small iridescent sequins from the Blissful Beauties Sequin Mix Plus Mix were the perfect finishing touch. These bunnies and chicks are having so much fun at the Easter egg hunt!! That does it for me today!! Thank you so much for stopping by!! Have a terrific weekend!! Brenda

A sweet Halloween card

by Silvana Chambon on Aug 12 2024
Hello, friends! It´s Silvana from Casa Magnolia here and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios´ blog! Today I want to share with you a Halloween card made with a sweet die from the last release. It´s called Nibbles the Candy ghost die and it´s so cute!!! The die is like a cover die where you have all the pieces in one plate die. So, you can die cut once and color every piece with ink and the Pint sized paper Pouncers for example, but I decided I was going to use Paper Glaze for extra color and shine. So I cut four pieces of lightweight cardstock and spread over every piece a light and even amount of Paper Glaze in Marigold Orange, Agapanthus Purple and Daffodil Yellow colors. The remaining piece was made with Paper Glaze Luxe: Twinkle Lights . After all the pieces were dried, I cut them and put them aside as I started working on the background. For the bakground I used the new Flowing 6x8 stencil with a grey ink and some drops of the new Paper Splatter Opaque Black. I cut the background in a piece of 3"x4 1/4" and glued it in the middle of a top folding card base. I put a thin strip of black cardstock in both ends to add contrast and a little detail. Then I started to assemble the little ghost and the rest from the different color pieces that I´ve already made.  For the sentiment I cut extra layers of a white cardstock and stack and glued them together for dimension. There are some details made with black cardstock, like the bats, the eyes and the hat base.    And that´s my little sweet ghost card! I´m very pleased with the result, specially with the colors that the Paper Glazes give to the card, bright and shiny.  I hope you liked it and try your own version.  Thank you so much for stopping by. See you in my next post. Have a wonderful day! Silvana.

Mixed Media Stencil Inspiration

by Andrea Shell on Jun 06 2024
Hello, again! It's Andrea back with a pair of ocean-themed cards featuring two stencils from Picket Fence Studios' latest release. The inspiration for these cards came directly from the stencils I used, which were Make the World Shimmer A2 Stencil and Rainbow Dreams 6"x8" Stencil. The swirls in the Rainbow Dreams Stencil (card on the right) reminded me of waves, and the theme for these cards was born. Let's start with the easier card, shall we? I don't think I have ever stenciled over patterned paper before, but I love how this card turned out! That beautiful background is from the Magical Seas Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts pack. To my chosen patterned paper, I applied Paper Glaze Luxe: Twinkle Lights Gold through the Make the World Shimmer A2 Stencil. Once that was dry, I trimmed down the panel slightly and adhered it to a white card. That large "you" is from the Hello to You Word Dies. First, I created the teal paper by applying Paper Glaze Velvet: Ocean Odyssey Tropical Cocktail to white cardstock. Once the glaze was dry, I diecut "you" from the teal paper once and from white cardstock three times. I stacked the diecuts, offsetting the teal layer to create a highlight, and glued the diecuts to my card. I finished with a sub-sentiment from the Animal Crackers: You Deserve to be Spoiled stamp set. My second card features the Rainbow Dreams 6"x8" Stencil combined with the Seahorses of the Sea stamp set. Does the stencil remind you of waves, too? First, I diecut a panel of white cardstock with the Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die and masked the edges with low-tack tape. After placing the Rainbow Dreams Stencil over the panel, I applied a couple shades of distess oxides with the Life Changing Blender Brushes. I removed the stencil and went over the panel with the same inks for a softer look. Next, I added Paper Splatter in the colors of Liquid Forest Green and White Snowflake to the panel and removed the masks. For my focal point, I chose the large seahorse from the Seahorses of the Sea stamp set. I colored him with Copics, added some white highlights, and cut him out with the coordinating dies. I painted white cardstock with the Liquid Forest Green Paper Splatter and diecut some foliage with the Layering Flora: Leaves and Twigs Dies. I attached the seahorse to my card with foam tape and tucked in the foliage. I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Swanky Sentiments: Sympathy stamp set, diecut it with the coordinating dies, and popped it up with a strip of foam tape. Finally, I added some teal sequins from the Tropical Breeze sequin mix. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Thank You - Blooming Trumpet Flowers

by Brenda Noelke on Jun 05 2024
Hello, crafty friends!! I hope you are all doing well!! Brenda here with a thank you card featuring the gorgeous Blooming Trumpet Flowers Stamp Set, along with a few other goodies from the latest May release!! I began by stamping the flower and leaves from the Blooming Trumpet Flowers Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored them with Copic markers, added dots to the stamen with a yellow gel pen, then cut them out with the Coordinating Dies. Next, I die-cut a panel of white cardstock with the smallest die in the A2 Rectangle Layering Die Set. I stenciled Paper Glaze Luxe: Twinkle Lights - Purple onto the panel through the You Make the World Shimmer A2 Stencil with a palette knife. Once dry, it was adhered to a panel of purple gingham cardstock from the Sweet Gingham Fabulous Glossy Cardstock Pack. The sentiment, also from the Blooming Trumpet Flowers Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto black cardstock. The sentiment, flowers and leaves were all popped up with foam tape. Sequins from the Razzle Dazzle and All About the Purple sequin mixes finish off the card. Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Have a fabulous Wednesday!! Brenda

Hello There! - Paper Glaze Luxe and Liquid Splatters

by Colleen Balija on May 07 2024
Hi there, it's Colleen here and I'm excited to share this mixed media card!! I got to play with the new Paper Glaze Luxe from the April release! For my card today, I'll be using Paper Glaze Luxe in Clementine Preserves and Tropical Cocktail, Oversized Tropical Leaf die, Liquid Watercolor Splatters in Yellow, Salutations sentiments stamp, and from a previous release Liquid Watercolors in Purple Lilac, Pierced Blanket cover die plate, A2 Rectangles for Card Layering dies, and Polka Dot Palooza Foiling card panel.  First, I added a thin layer of the new Paper Glaze Luxe in both colors to 2 sheets of heavy weight cardstock. I used heavyweight cardstock because it holds the paper glaze well. When it was dried (maybe 1/2 hour later), I die cut the oversize tropical leaf using the Tropical Cocktail paste and the lattice design die cut using the Clementine Preserves paste. It came out SO beautiful! I set those aside and focused on the backdrop.  Starting with a foiled design from Polka Dot Palooza, I ink blended over it in shades of teal. The foiling resists the ink, so you still see that lovely shine! Then I adhered the lattice die that was created using Paper Glaze in Clementine Preserves over the background and finished with splatters using the liquid watercolor splatters.  Next, I splattered the oversized leaf that I had die cut earlier over the Paper Glaze in Tropical Cocktail and adhered it over the lattice background at an angle so that the background peeked out from behind the leaf! At the last minute, I decided to add gold paste to the edges of the leaf to help it pop a bit more. Then I finished with a sentiment from the Salutations stamp set.  In the photo above, you can see all the detail from the splatters and the lovely colors of the new Paper Glaze Luxe!  TIP: You can make a ton of backgrounds in advance by adding a thin layer of Paper Glaze in your favorite color over heavyweight cardstock. Then pull it out when you need it! The paper may curl up a bit, but if you run it through your die cut machine, it will flatten out!  To shop all of the products in this post, click on the description of each product in the first paragraph of this post. Mixed Media Flowers - Sweet Cherry Blossoms

by Colleen Balija on Mar 06 2024
Hi friends! I've got a treat for you today; I got inky making a fun mixed media card! I'll be using the new Sweet Cherry Blossoms die, Polka Dot Scarf stencil, and Paper Splatters watercolor in Kiwi Lime. Also, I'll be using the existing Paper Glaze Luxe in Golden Ring, Swanky Friendship stamp, Falling Brick Wall die, Coffee Understands Again, and Gradient Flatback Pearls in Navy Blue and Charcoal Grey.  First, for you mixed media lovers, Picket Fence Studios has a plethora of design elements that can be used on your surfaces! I'm using just a sampling of it! Now, onto my card!  First step was to build the background. I applied various shades of blue and teal ink, via ink schmooshing, onto a white piece of watercolor paper. Ink schmooshing is the process of applying ink onto a glass surface, spraying it with water, and then tapping the watercolor panel into the ink. Continue this process until you've achieved the look that you want. You can see what it looks like in the photo below. For this technique, you'll want to use colors that play nice together so that you don't create "mud". Once I was finished with ink schmooshing, I added splatters of the ink over the panel, including the liquid watercolor splatters in Kiwi Lime. Then I stenciled over the surface using the Polka Dot Scarf stencil, and then stamped the scribbly heart from Coffee Understands Me Again. I kept a light touch so that you could see the images, but they also blended into the background color. Once I was finished, I trimmed the panel using my deckled paper trimmer and applied gold paste around the edges for interest. Then I adhered it to a slightly larger piece of black cardstock and adhered both to a 5.5x4.25 white card base.  Next, I worked on the Sweet Cherry Blossom dies. These are the perfect size flowers to stand alone or use with other elements! I die cut the layers for several flowers onto watercolor paper, and then applied color using the same technique as I did with the background card panel, only I went much darker in color so that the flowers popped! When the layers dried, I adhered them together and fluffed the top layers a bit to give the flowers depth.  I wanted to create a layer between the background and the flowers so that the flowers wouldn't get lost in that busy background, so I die cut Falling Brick Wall die in white cardstock and then applied Golden Ring Paper Glaze Luxe over the die. Once it was dried, I adhered it over the card base and then added the flowers and leaves over it. I added gold paste to the flowers and leaves as well. I finished with a sentiment from Swanky Friendship and several Flatback Pearls in Navy and Charcoal Grey.  Mixed media is most successful when you limit the color palette. You can play with all sorts of elements such as the paper glaze, liquid watercolor splatters, reactive inks, and various dies and stencils! It is just SO much fun to play like this, I hope you will grab your stash and give it a try!  You can find the products I've used for this card by hovering over the item name and then clicking on it. That iwll bring you to the Picket Fence Studios shop!

Sparkly Playful Sara Girl - with Paper Glaze Luxe

by Colleen Balija on Feb 26 2024
HI friends! I've got a fun and sparkly card to share with you today using the new Sara Girl stamp and Paper Glaze Luxe in Lime Soda! Also, I'll be using the existing Framed Leaves stencil!  I fell in love with Sara Girl just as soon as I saw her, so I've used her a few times this month! First, I stamped her in permanent black ink. Next, I colored her hair and face. The hair is colored with alcohol inks n shades of pink, giving her a funky and modern look! I applied Paper Splatters Watercolor in Kiwi Lime over the pennant on her necklace. Then I die cut her and a piece of black and white cardstock in 3 rectangle sizes and glued them together. I think that makes a nice frame for Sara!  Next, I focused on the background. Starting with 5.5x4.25 piece of black cardstock, I placed the cardstock on the PFS Paper Inking Palette sized 5x6 and then placed the stencil over the paper and the palette. These palettes are incredible because they have a sticky surface, making it perfect for stenciling or ink blending! They come in a variety of sizes too! Once I had the stencil and cardstock in place, I applied the Lime Soda Paper Glaze Luxe through the stencil with a palette knife and then immediately removed the stencil. I set the card panel aside to dry. The glaze dries very quickly!!!  Once the glaze was dried, you could see the lime shimmer through the black cardstock, and I loved the contrast of black against lime! In person it is much, much more shimmery! I adhered Sara Girl over the background panel. NOTE: Sometimes glue doesn't adhere well to a surface like the glaze, so I used a strong adhesive and that did the trick. Also, I thought about adding a sentiment, but this card panel was so lovely that I didn't want to add to it, so I'll put one on the inside of the card for my recipient!  This card was so easy to put together because of the paper glaze and the details in the Sara Girl stamp! I'm so glad you stopped by today! You can find the products I've used for today's card by hovering over the item name and then clicking on it. That will take you to the PFS shop!

Waterlilies from Layering Fauna Butterfly Dies

by Andrea Shell on Feb 21 2024

Hello there! It's Andrea back with you, and today I'm sharing an unexpected way to use the new Layering Fauna Butterfly Dies. When I first saw these dies, I thought of waterlilies and couldn't get that image out of my mind. I diecut the butterfly dies separately from pale pink cardstock: one solid butterfly and one with the lily shape. I taped the negative and postive pieces together on the back of the second butterfly. I placed the diecuts onto the 5"x6" Paper Inking Palette and, using the Bright Rainbow Pint-sized Paper Pouncers, applied pink dye ink to the diecuts. Once I was happy with the ink-blending, I added White Snowflake Paper Splatter to the diecuts with the Fan Brush. I trimmed the solid butterfly apart to create two solid bases and adhered the negative pieces from the second butterfly to the solid shapes with tiny pieces of foam tape.  Because of the size of my "waterlilies", I decided to make a 5"x7" card. I blended a panel of white cardstock with a couple shades of teal ink using the Life Changing Blender Brushes. The 6"x8" Tree Bark Stencil reminded me of water ripples. After placing the stencil over my ink-blended panel, I spread Twilight Lights - Seas Paper Gaze Luxe over the panel. Once the glaze was dry, I trimmed down my panel and affixed it to a cardbase with double-sided adhesive. I adhered my lilies with double-sided adhesive, popping up the foreground lily with thin 3D foam squares. I diecut the letters to spell "friend" twice from white cardstock using the Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles and Alpha Diecutting System. I applied the same ink used on the waterlilies to one of the diecuts and then glued the layers together for stability. I stamped a supporting sentiment from the Animal Crackers You Deserve to Be Spoiled stamp set with Black Hybrid Ink and diecut it with the coordinating dies. I glued "friend" to my card and popped up the supporting sentiment with foam tape. To finish the card, I glued some of the tiny sequins from the Iridescent Moonshine Sequin mix to the waterlilies. Sweet Birthday card featuring Wreath Building Cupcakes for You stamp

by Andrea Shell on Jan 22 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea here sharing my first project for Picket Fence Studios featuring products from their January release. This release has so many wonderful products for creating birthday cards, which I'm sure we as cardmakers need alot of! Those adorable cupcakes are from the Wreath Building Cupcakes for You stamp set. I stamped them with Black Hybrid Ink, starting with the middle cupcake first and then masking it to add the cupcakes on each side. Next, I colored the images with Copics and added highlights with a white gel pen. I stamped a sentiment from the set under my cupcakes and diecut the panel with the 2.0" Connected Squares Shaker Creator Dies. I cut the red, scalloped mat with the Slimline Stiched and Scalloped Rectangles and Alpha Die Cutting System and attached my stamped square on top with foam tape. For that colorful background, I used the new 6"x8" Sprinkles Layering Stencils. Looking at my card, I obviously had some of the stencils turned incorrectly as the set is designed to have perfectly spaced sprinkles with no overlap. However, you really can't go wrong with these stencils! To create my background, I placed an A2 panel of white cardstock onto the 5"x6" Paper Inking Palette and applied dye inks with the Bright Rainbow Pint-sized Paper Pouncers. For the fifth and final stencil, I used a palette knife to apply Chocolate Frosting Paper Glaze Luxe. I love the texture and bit of sparkle the glaze gives! Once the panel was dry, I adhered it to a white card and affixed my layered squares with foam tape. Thanks for stopping by! If you haven't already, be sure to check out the January release. There are bundles available at a great price! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Hello, fellow crafters!! Brenda here with a holiday card featuring several products from the latest release!! The A Christmas Hello Stamp Set is one of my faves!! I started by stamping the A Christmas Hello Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I knew that I wanted to use one of the papers from the Holiday Traditions Foiling Toner Cardstock Pack for my background, so I colored the bird with neutral colors of Copics, then fussy cut it out. For the background, I trimmed a piece of paper from the Holiday Traditions Foiling Toner Cardstock Pack slightly smaller than A2. Although this toner paper is made to be used with foil, I loved it as the background for this beautiful bird. I spread Arctic Fox Paper Glaze Luxe onto a panel of white cardstock with a palette knife. Once it was dry, I die-cut the More Winter Snowflakes Dies from it and adhered them to the background panel. I trimmed the excess from the edges, then adhered it to an A2 card base. The bird was then adhered with liquid adhesive. The sentiment is from the Mistletoe Kisses Stamp Set. I stamped it onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink, fussy cut it out and popped it up with foam tape. I chose some iridescent snowflakes from the Christmas Flurries Sequin Mix and adhered those to the background to complete the card. This card has so much sparkle and shine, between the iridescent sequins and the paper glaze, it really packs a punch!! Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Have a great Tuesday!! Brenda

I began by stamping the amazing Jolly Christmas Gnome Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored him with Copic markers, then used the Coordinating Die to cut him out. For the background, I die-cut the Slimline Rectangle Tree Cover Plate Die from dark brown cardstock. I trimmed a panel of white cardstock for the snow, added some shading with Copics, then adhered it to an A2 panel of light blue cardstock. The tree was adhered to the background and the excess was trimmed from the edges. I added some Winter Snowfall Paper Glaze Velvet with a paintbrush and sprinkled on some clear glitter while it was still wet. I splattered some diluted white gouache onto the background for the snowfall in my winter scene. The sentiment is also from the Jolly Christmas Gnome Stamp Set. It was white heat embossed onto black cardstock, then cut out with the Coordinating Die. The gnome and sentiment were both popped up with foam adhesive. I added some snow to the gnome with a white gel pen and my scene was finished!!   This Jolly Christmas Gnome has sooooo much character!! I just LOVE him!! Thanks so much for dropping in today!! It's New Release Day

by Sandi MacIver on Dec 14 2021

Hey cardmaking friends.  Sandi MacIver here and today I'm sharing Christmas Cardmaking in GOLD.  Today is the Picket Fence Studio December Release - WHOO HOO.  So many fun new products, but I used just ONE of the new products in today's card. The NEW, Lots of Blossoms Stencil and I'm going to share with you how I created this beautiful card using just one stencil. It's super simple, fast and easy and you can use this technique on any type of card for any celebration. Check the end of the post for clickable thumbnail images for the entire new release that goes live today. I had so much fun creating this card, but my OCD kicked in, and I had to exactly line up those crazy petals, LOL.  It's a simple hinge technique so let's get started.   How to create my Christmas Cardmaking in GOLD Card: Start by using the Lots of Blossoms 6 x 6 stencil to dry emboss the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 mirror gold background. Place that down on your grid paper and trace around it with a pencil. Lay the stencil over it, line up the blossoms, and then tape the stencil to the grid paper on one side with some washi tape - creating a hinge. Next, take a piece of black cardstock also 4-1/4 x 5-1/2, place a small amount of adhesive on the back, and attach it inside the outline you traced. Flip the stencil back over the cardstock and secure it on all sides. Use a Picket Fence Studios Spatula to add Paper Glaze Ombre - Santa's Favorite Colors 2, through the stencil onto the black cardstock. Remove the stencil and clean it immediately and let the Paper Glaze dry. Flip the piece over, and using your grid paper, draw pencil lines where you want to cut the tree.  I took an inch from each side, up to the center at the top.  if you want a wider tree, take less than an inch on each side. Cut on the lines, flip the tree back over and use foam squares to attach it to your card, lining up the florals. Adding the Sentiment to your card: Use the Picket Fence Studios Fancy Christmas Sentiments and Dies to Gold emboss a sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock and then cut it out with the coordinating die. Attach it across the tree, near the bottom with Foam Squares. Finally, embellish the tree with Sands of Time Gem Mix.   Here is the entire December Picket Fence Studios Release: Here is today's entire new release .  Compensated affiliate links used  where available at no cost to you. When you click on a thumbnail link and shop you are supporting my website allowing me to continue bringing you new projects and videos.  Thank you. Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you enjoyed my card share.

Ombre Paper Glaze Video and card samples

by Sandi MacIver on Oct 01 2021

Hey paper crafters, welcome back.  It's Sandi MacIver here and today I have a New Video Paper Glaze Ombre.  It's over on the Picket Fence Studios YouTube channel (link below for you). In the video I share a few different ways I like to use and blend these awesome Paper Glazes, and then I switch over and show you all the finished cards I made with the backgrounds created in the first portion. Yes, it's a long video, but its fast paced with lots of card inspiration.  I know by the end of it you will want to give Paper Glaze a go, LOL....I can't be the only one who enjoys messing with this stuff and it creates the best backgrounds. I'm also playing with a variety of different stencils and stamps all from Picket Fence Studios.   What is Picket Fence Studios Paper Glaze? It's a jar full of smooth creamy medium used to create texture and shimmer in your paper crafting. You can mix it with Paper Glitz for more glimmer and/or Paper Glaze Enhancer to thicken it a bit and lighten the color. You can blend the colors together to make new colors The latest Paper Glaze Lux Ombre - Nutcracker Ballet already has glitz added to it.  With it's heavy body of mica and glitter infusion, it is beyond spectacular.  Adding depth and hues to your backgrounds. The Paper Glaze Ombre line is specially formulated and colored for perfect blending and Ombre effect.   How is Paper Glaze Applied: Paper Glaze is applied with palette knives, usually through a stencil to create a design. It can be applied randomly across cardstock for a splash of color. Or in gradient order to create the Ombre. It's spectacular on dark cardstock such as Navy or Black. Picket Fence Studios has a great selection of palette knives. What does the finished product look like? Once dry, Paper Glaze is very pliable, you can bend and cut the piece as you wish. You can also die cut card stock that has been Paper Glazed - however, an additional shim may be required. The Mica and colored Glitter included in the glaze is permanently attached to the cardstock and will not shed like glimmer paper does. While it adds beauty to your card backgrounds, it doesn't add extra weight. The beautiful sheen provides a professional finish for your cards.   How Long does Paper Glaze need to dry? In my experience about 20 - 25 minutes, but this will depend on a few things. How thick you apply the glaze: - You only need a very thin coat to create beautiful backgrounds. Note: in my video, at the end of each application, I turn my palette knife on edge, and scrape back to collect any excess sitting up on the stencil. The humidity where you live: I live in a very dry climate so mine dries quickly.  If you live in a higher humidity climate, you may find it takes a bit longer. Here are some of the finished cards created with the backgrounds I made in the video.  I also share these in the video and the supplies I used to create them.   Paper Glaze Ombre - Sunset Purples Paper Glaze Sunset Purples was added over the Framed Leaves Stencil in abstract, onto a piece of light purple card stock.  This combination creates this fun and interesting background for BFF Livi Girl. Next, Livi was colored with Copic Markers and then die cut out with the coordinating die. Two center panels were cut to add and highlight the sentiment. Livi was added with foam squares to add further dimension to the card. Finally, the card was embellished with purple gems from the Purple Side of a Rainbow Gem Mix.  There are also very nice purple sequins in the Frankie Comes to Town Sequin Mix.   Paper Glaze Ombre - Sky Blue Paper Glaze Ombre Sky Blue was added again through the Framed Leaves Stencil onto pale blue cardstock to create this background. This time a true Ombre effect was created by starting at the bottom with the darkest color and adding the lighter colors in order. The Lots of Christmas Cheer image was copic colored in similar hues.  Die cut with the coordinating dies and added to the card. The center panel was added with the sentiment, and to cover any glaze that got into the center of the stencil. Finally, the card was embellished with the pretty white 3/d snowflakes from the Icicles Sequin Mix. Paper Glaze Ombre - Sky blue with the Touch Ginger Tropical Flower: The same random application of card #1 was used for this background onto pale blue cardstock. Next the Touch Ginger Tropical flower was colored with copic markers, cut out with the coordinating die and added to the card. The sentiment was die cut 3 times and stacked before being attached to the card. Finally, the card was embellished with green gems from the Ocean of Green Gem Mix. Paper Glaze Ombre - Pumpkin Spice - Masculine Birthday Card The Pumpkin Spice glazes were added over the fabulous Slim Line Reverse Leaf Stencil onto white card to create this spectacular card front (not just for backgrounds my friends). Over that, the Happy Birthday Word Topper Die was cut in black and added to the card. Next, a strip of black was cut and added the entire length of the card, covering the bottom of the die cut. Finally, the card was embellished with the Autumn Leaves Gem Mix. Here is a second card done as above but in portrait orientation. The Pumpkin Spice Paper Glaze was added through the same Slimline Reverse Leaf Stencil onto Kraft colored card stock to add a more muted background for the art. Matting the art piece in a coordinating color really makes the red pop. The same Word Topper Die was used, this time trimmed down to fit the Slimline Card width. Paper Glaze Ombre - Fall Fashion - On Black Cardstock Try adding the Paper Glaze onto black cardstock for a very dramatic card. The Paper Glazes are Opaque so show up beautiful on light or dark card. The sentiment overlay for this one is the Happy Fall Y'all word topper die and then over stamped with the Word Topper Sub Titles Stamp Set. Finally, the card is embellished with the  Moon shad Gem Mix to add just a little more bling to an already fabulous card. Whooo Are You two ways and VIDEO!

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Aug 30 2021
Hi guys,  it's Erica back on the Picket Fence Studio blog AND the YouTube channel today! I have two cards to show you, and as mentioned, there is a video for it too, so I'd love it if you'd check that out as well.  I have used the Whooo Are You stamp and coordinating die set for these two cards.  Now, I will admit that when I first saw this guy I was a bit like 'hmm, I don't think this is going to be my fave' but once I started colouring him, I fell in love!! Oh, my, he's so fun to colour!!  I stamped him up both with Black Hybrid ink, as well as with Fadeout Ink from Inkon3, with my MISTI, so I could do one no-line-colouring. They both turned out fab, if I may say so myself. So fun to colour! (I know I already said that but it's true) and major plus point for having a coordinating diecut!  For the backgrounds I wanted to show two different techniques, and two of my faves include ink blending with the Life Changing Blender Brushes and the other is using my beloved Paper Glazes. I can not understate how obsessed I am with Paper Glazes, they are so amazing and give such fun results! I used Paper Glazes for both the lives I did in the Picket Fence Studios Community Facebook group, where we host fun lives and classes sometimes. You should definitely join us there if you haven't already!  In the video you will see me ink blending another background, which I didn't end up using, and off-camera I ink blended the one I actually used. As we are heading towards fall and the owl is a night time creature, I felt the ominous orangey-red one was a better choice. It also matched the eyes on the owl a bit better.  On the Paper Glaze background I ended up reusing(/re-purposing?) a scrap piece that I had scraped off some excess Paper Glaze from another play session. It wasn't long enough for the slim line card I was planning on making with it, so I added more Paper Glaze in Black Pansy, Lime Zinnia, Daffodil Yellow and Ocean Poppy.  Armed with lots of black card stock, I ran both the A2 Tree Silhouette cover die, the Slim line Tree Silhouette Cover die and the Spider Web cover dies through my diecutting machine, and set these aside while I worked on my sentiments.  I had a super cheesy idea for this, but bear with me. As the owl is a predator, I wanted to use the 'I love your face' word topper die, and then add 'yum' by cutting out the letter with the Seeing Double Alpha dies. See what I mean? So cheesy, lol!  Oh, by the way, that YUM was cut out of homemade glitter card stock made with Black Rainbow Paper Glitz!  The second sentiment is also done with a word topper, only this time the Hello one. This time I cut it out of white card stock, which might have been a bit of a mistake, I should have done it in black card stock again but oh well.  For this sentiment I also went cheesy. Of course. So while I had the Hello word topper, my die cutting machine and the card stock out, I cut out some extra O's to make the Hello into a Hellooooo. I didn't like it white so I blended a little bit of the black and blue ink left on my brushes over it.  The final part of the sentiment was the 'whooo are you?' from the stamp set, which I stamped on white card stock and cut out with the coordinating diecut.  To assemble these, I used liquid glue to make sure I could adjust all the pieces and line them up perfectly. Especially the A2 card as I layered up the tree silhouette piece on top of the spider web diecut. The owls were tucked into the Tree Silhouette pieces on each card and then the sentiments were added and we were done!  Over on the Picket Fence Studios YouTube channel you can catch the video for these two cards as well!  Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really hope you like the cards and found some inspiration here with me.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

My Heart is Always by the Sea

by Sara Sherlock on Apr 13 2021
Hello!  It's Sara, from Much Love, Sara.   I used the new Paper Glaze Enhancer  on today's card.  The Enhancer makes the Glaze super silky, along with making the pearlized finish of the Glaze more matte.  It allows for a really smooth application as well.  I had the idea of playing with the change in finish to create a fun background, and today's card was the result.

Follow your Path

by Ceal Pritchett on Apr 07 2021
Hey Y'all! It's Ceal here. Today I am sharing a couple slimline cards using some of the amazing March products . First up, I created this shaker card using the Fish for Infinity Slimline stencil, some distress inks, sequins and diecuts.  I started by creating a background using distress inks in Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers.  I used the SLDCS to cut a frame for the shaker. I placed the Fish for Infinity stencil down on the base using Pixie Spray and blended Blueprint Sketch distress ink over it. Next I stamped the  sentiment from the Follow Your Path set which happens to be at a great price right now on the background I had created and added it to the front. Next I created the confetti for the shaker, to do this I die cut several of the whales from the Mermaids of the Sea die set in holographic papers and then added some of the Sharkbite Sequin Mix and the Oceans of Green Gem Mix. For my next card I used the Whales & Mermaids Slimline Stencil and some paper glazes.  For this card I started with a background I created using Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch distress inks. After the background was dry I placed the Whales & Mermaids Slimline Stencil down with Pixie Spray. I mixed some of the new Paper Glaze Enhancer with Mint Hydrangea Paper Glaze and spread it across the whale part of the stencil, I also watered down some Artemisia Silver Paper Glaze and added it on top to get the blueish gray color. For underneath I mixed some Artemisia Silver with some glitter.

Elegant cards with Paper Glaze Enhancer by Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Apr 06 2021

Hi guys!  It's Erica back on the Picket Fence Studios blog today, with a couple of elegant celebration cards.  Have you heard about the Paper Glaze Enhancer? It's a super cool new thing, that will take your Paper Glazes to a whole new level and give you so many more options to use them. It works by taking down the shine of the Paper Glaze, and it goes kind of matte, which is a fab look. Plus, depending on how much Paper Glaze Enhancer you add, it will stretch your stock of Paper Glaze even further.  For these two cards I have mixed 50/50 Paper Glaze Enhancer with Golden Rose. I have also used the same stencil, and both backgrounds were basically made at the same time by using a, if I may say so myself, awesome technique that I have been working on for a while now. It's a simple concept, but gives you two backgrounds in one go basically. You start by adding your Paper Glaze, with or without the enhancer, to a background through your choice of stencil. For these cards I have used the Floral 6x6 stencil. Then either place another piece of card stock on top of all of this, without removing the stencil first, and "print" by firmly pressing the card stock down.  That's your first print! After removing this, you can either take off the stencil and leave the Paper Glaze textured, or use a spatula to smooth it all out again, before removing the stencil. For these I have actually gotten a third print done, by placing yet another piece of card stock on top of the stencil and printing the negative print by picking up the leftover Paper Glaze from that! Cool, huh?? I know, I don't get out much these days so it doesn't take much to excite me, lol!  When these were completely dry, I cut them down with a scalloped rectangle die to add some interest around the edges, before adhering them to a white card base each.  As these are so simple, yet elegant, I decided to use the Fancy Congratulations Sentiments, with their coordinating dies, to finish them off. I heat embossed a couple of the sentiments in Rich Gold and Rose Gold, before cutting them out and adhering them on top of the cards.  I was contemplating bling, I'm not going to lie... However, at the time of making these I managed to resist the temptation. Although, before I send these out, who knows, a few Fire Gems might make their way onto these!  That's it from me for today, thank you so much for stopping by!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Live Today

Hi everyone, Lisa here today to share how I made this slim line shaker using lots of lovely goodies from the fabulous March release. I began by taking the largest of the two rectangle dies from the Slim Line Die Cutting System (8.5" x 3.5") and I die cut a panel of white cardstock. I took the Slim Line Fish For Infinity Stencil and secured it from behind. To the side I laid down a bit of Mint Hydrangea, Succulent Green and Ocean Poppy Paper Glazes onto a glass mat, and then added equal amounts of Paper Glaze Enhancer into each. This turns the Paper Glaze into much for of a matt/textured finish and I love how it looks. I then applied all three of these through the stencil using a spatula from the Mixed Media Spatulas to create an ombre look. These glazes - so so pretty - with our without the enhancer! Hopefully you can see the texture in the picture below. I set it aside to dry and then took two dies from the Slim Line Nested Rectangles Die set and cut a stitched frame from white cardstock. Using double sided tape, I then added some acetate to the back, followed by thin strips of foam tape. The nested rectangles die set works in conjunction with the slim line die cutting system and gives you even more options for creating your cards - the sky is the limit! Once the fish panel was dry, I used double sided tape to adhere it to a base card after stamping a sentiment from BFF Favorite Hello in the top right circular area. For my shaker mix I used the new mix called Aqua Seas and Spring Fling from a few months back - they go beautifully together. I carefully placed a whole bunch of them down over the panel and then removed the backing from the foam tape, placed the acetate panel over the top, securing the sequins inside. I just love the noise that a shaker makes and I adore the paper glazes so this card was really fun to make. I hope that you'll give the Paper Glaze Enhancer a try - it is so fun to stretch the use of the Paper Glaze and create a different look to your card. See you next time!

Stay Wild Ocean Child

by Ilina Crouse on Mar 22 2021
Hi everyone! Ilina here. I hope you have been enjoying all the inspiration with the new release. And if you haven't checked it out it's worth doing so.  For my card today I used the Whales and Mermaids slim line stencil.  To make the card I started with a piece of white card stock little larger than slimline card front and ink blended green and blues distress oxide inks. One dried I used the Slim Line Rising Sun stencil and Unicorn White ink to add some detail on top of the distress oxides. Next I die cut the panel using the new Slim Line Nested rectangles dies. Next I mixed 1 to 1 ratio of Paper Glaze Enhancer (I LOVE this stuff) and Cornflower Blue Paper Glaze. Secured the stencil on top (masked around the whale) and applied the Paper Glaze/Enhancer mix. Let it dry. Once dry I stamped the sentiment in black and adhered the panel to a slim line white note card.
