Basket of Fun: Combining Dies and Stamps to Create a Scene

by Andrea Shell on Jan 28 2025
Hi there! It's Andrea back to share a colorful Easter card featuring Picket Fence Studios' January release. I just adore those cute bunnies from the Follow that Bunny stamp set! I wanted to combine them with the new Scene Building: A Tisket a Tasket Basket Die and Easter Egg Swag Die for a fun scene. I colored the bunnies with Copics and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I diecut the basket from lavender and yellow cardstocks with the A Tisket a Tasket Basket Die. I trimmed thin strips of lavender cardstock and wove them through the slits of the basket, securing the ends with liquid adhesive. I added shading with Copics to create some dimension. I diecut the eggs from colored cardstock with the Easter Egg Swag Die. Using my scissors, I trimmed the bows from the eggs, backed them with colored cardstock and added shading with Copics. For my background I first diecut white cardstock with the Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die. After masking the outside edges of the diecut, I ink-blended the grass and sky with dye inks and Life Changing Blender Brushes. To create the sun rays, I used the Sun with Rays 6x8 Stencil. After ink-blending, I flicked water across the grass portion and blotted it with a paper towel. Next, I covered the bottom half of the panel and added Opaque Pale Yellow, Opaque Pale Lavender, and Opaque White Paper Splatters to the top. Once the panel was dry, I removed the masks and adhered the background to one of the Lovely Gingham Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts. I arranged my Easter basket, eggs and colored images onto my card, adhering them with a combination of glue and varying heights of foam adhesive. For my focal sentiment, I diecut the Happy Easter Word Die from glitter and white cardstocks and stacked the diecuts on my card. I stamped a supporting sentiment from Follow that Bunny, cut it out with the coordinating die, and popped it up onto my card. Thanks for stopping by! I had so much fun creating this card, and I hope it inspires you to combine dies and stamps to create little scenes on your projects, as well! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Congratulations! You're on the Way Up!

by Colleen Balija on Dec 10 2024
Hi friends! PFS released the most awesome products this month with hot air balloons in all kinds of design elements! I always wanted to take a hot air balloon ride, and today we can via my card! I'll be using On a Cloudy Day stencil, Paper Glaze in Ocean Poppy, You're on the Way Up stamp, and my alcohol markers and die inks. I wanted the 3 balloons from You're on the Way Up to appear to float among the clouds, and I wanted the clouds to be in teal cuz wouldn't that be awesome to have teal clouds! So, the first step was to create the clouds for my balloons. Using shades of teal ink and On a Cloudy Day stencil, I created an ombre look going from lighter to darker with the clouds. I also added a light shade of teal over the entire panel. Then I decided to add texture and shine by applying Ocean Poppy Paper Glaze through the stencil randomly. I didn't cover all the clouds as I wanted this to be an imperfect, mixed media look! Then I set this card panel aside to allow the paste to dry. This paste takes less than 15 minutes to fully dry!  I stamped the 3 balloons onto a piece of white cardstock using permanent black ink. Then I colored each one with my alcohol markers in shades of teal, purple, blue and a pop of coral! I applied foam tape to the back of the 2 larger balloons, lined them up over the cloud card base until I was happy with placement, and adhered them down. The smallest balloon was glued directly onto the card panel, tucked behind the largest one. They look like they are floating at varying height, don't they? And I adore the flowers on these balloons, they add such a special touch!  I finished my card by adding Pearls over 2 of the balloons, glossy accents over the largest balloon's flowers, and black Gel Pen over parts of the balloon for added shine. This might be my favorite card of the month because of that background!  I'm so happy you stopped by today! To shop the items in this post, click on the link to be taken to the PFS shop!

Hi friends!  I have a colorful, shiny, and simple card to share with you today using Hot Air Balloons Sighting stamp, Freckle Friends: Climbing Calliope, On a Cloudy Day stencil, Paper Glaze in Twinkle Lights Silver, blue die inks, and A2 Lots of Thanks die plate set!  First, I die cut a white card panel using the A2 Lots of Thanks die set. I love this set because it includes layering dies in awesome shades and a WONDERFUL Thank You sentiment die that dies 3 unique Thank you sentiments!!! I applied the Paper Glaze Twinkle Lights Silver onto the outer white frame and set it aside to dry. Using the inner part of the die, I applied 3 shades of teal ink over it to create an ombre effect. I applied the darkest ink over everything using the On a Cloudy Day stencil. Then I stamped the image from Hot Air Balloons Sighting over the inked-up panel a few times using permanent black ink. I adhered the stencil back over the card panel and applied Twinkle Lights Silver paper glaze in just a few places to added texture and shine. Can you see it in the photo above?  Once everything was fully dried from the paper glaze (about 15 minutes is all it takes to dry), I adhered the finished card panel and the outer frame onto an A2 sized black card base. Then I stamped a sentiment from Freckled Friends: Climbing Calliope, adhered it over a piece of black cardstock, and added that to the card panel along with 3 birds from that same stamp set!  I really enjoy playing with color, texture, and shine. And this card's got it all! Thanks for joining me today! To shop the products used in this post, click on the description to be taken to the PFS shop!

New Release - Haunted Ghost House

by Sammi Offield on Jul 25 2023

Hey crafty friends!! Sammi here to share a card featuring the A2 Ghost House from the new release! The new release is so AWESOME! It is such an amazing and huge release - definitely something for everyone!  For this card, the first thing I wanted to do was to create my spooky sky. Using the moon mask from the new Mini Haunted Moon stencil, I masked where I wanted the moon to be and then ink blended the sky using Distress Oxide inks. After I was done, I removed the mask and then stenciled in the rest of the moon using the rest of the moon stencil set. I then created the bats with some Black Pansy Paper Glaze along with the Bat Crazy 6x8 stencil. While the Paper Glaze was drying, I then cut out the Ghost House with black card stock and then glued some yellow card stock in the window openings and where the light from the windows shines on the ground. I then cut another Ghose House out of black glitter card stock and glued it on top of the black piece, adding some white pigment ink to create a shadowy look. I then glued the house onto the card panel. I then added the sentiment from the People are my Favorite, Mummy stamp and die set and then glued the card panel onto a A2 card base.  I absolutely love this set! So many possibilities and so easy to work with! Here is what you need from the new release to make this card: Bat Crazy 6x8 Stencil – Picket Fence Studios (pfstamps.com) Mini Haunted Blending Stencil – Picket Fence Studios (pfstamps.com) A2 Ghost House Cover Plate Die – Picket Fence Studios (pfstamps.com) People are my Favorite, Mummy – Picket Fence Studios (pfstamps.com) People are my Favorite, Mummy Coordinating Die – Picket Fence Studios (pfstamps.com) Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! June New Release Day! - Espresso Bar Table Dies

by Sammi Offield on Jun 14 2023
Happy New Release Day crafty friends! Sammi here to share a card made with the AMAZING new Scene Building: Espresso Bar Table Dies! I absolutely love this die set! I love the retro feel of the colors red and teal, so I went with that color scheme for my scene and I LOVE it! Here is how I made this card: First, I wanted a wood grained background for my wood wall, so I used the A2 Against the Grain Cover Plate die and then ink blended it with Distress inks. I edged the corners and edges with darker Distress inks to make it looked a little more aged. I then cut out the pieces in the Espresso Bar Table dies - I cut out the table, espresso machine, flower/vase, row of cups, 3 individual cups, and then the bread, donut, bananas, oranges, apple and pear. I then cut out the tier basket out of silver metallic cardstock. I then colored the smaller pieces with Copic markers and edged the espresso machine with Distress inks to make it look vintage. I then ink blended the table with Distress inks and ink edged it too. After that, I placed the table onto the card panel with some foam tape. I then started adding the espresso machine, flower/vase and cups using glue and foam tape. I then glued the fruit and breads into the tier basket and then added it to the table with glue and foam tape.  I then decided I wanted to make a poster for the wall from the new Our Finest Selection background stamp so I picked out a image from the background stamp and then cut it down to a square and matted it with some teal cardstock. I then glued it onto the background wall.  I then stamped the sentiment from the new Espresso Yourself stamp set with teal ink and then cut it down to size and added it to the card panel with foam tape and then added some bling from the All About the Teals Sequin Mix. After the card panel was complete, I glued it onto a A2 card base. Happy Friday! Eugy here and I’m so excited to share with you a lovely shaker card I made using the new Purr-fect for Me stamp and coordinating die from our May release. Can't get over how adorable these designs are! I started by stamping the images and then added color with my Copic Markers. And for the background, I used the Scene Building: Grass Tufts Dies, which added a perfect spring-summer vibe to my card. The grass was brought to life by some blending using the Rainbow Paper Pouncers. Then I cut shaker window out using the Matching Misshapen Stitched Circle Dies. And guess what went inside? The Sequin Mix Plus - Strawberry Daquiri! It gives a cute, sparkly effect that is just irresistible. Now, I have some exciting news for you! Don't forget that we have our Memorial Day Sale this weekend. It's the perfect opportunity to snag some products at amazing prices. So mark your calendars, it's going to be an exciting weekend! Plant Happy Thoughts

Hello, Eugy here! I have always had a love for indoor plants. They bring a fresh, vibrant energy to any room and are a great way to reconnect with nature. However, despite my best efforts, I seem to struggle to keep them alive for very long, unlike the ones on the cards 😂. Today I would like to share this card with you. It's very easy to make! First, I blended light inks using the Life Changing Blending Brushes. Then I chose a stamp from the Plant Happy Thoughts set and applied various colored inks to it. Before stamping, I blended them with the new Paper Pouncers. To finish up my card, I used my absolute favorite sentiment from this set. Well, that's it, just a couple of simple steps and the card is ready! And finally, just a quick reminder that there will be an Easter sale on the website from Friday, April 7 to Monday, April 10, stay tuned. Happy crafting and have a wonderful weekend! Eugy

One stamp set, two different styles. Featuring Rockin' around the Christmas Tree stamp set.

by Evgeniya Ishbul’dina on Nov 10 2022
Hi there! Eugy here and today I’m sharing two Christmas card ideas using Rockin' around the Christmas Tree stamp and coordinating die from the October release.   I wanted my first card to be a clean and simple, so I used the masking tape technique. I stamped the scene I had on my mind and simply colored it with copic markers.   This is a very fun technique, it helps you create a lot of different compositions and scenes. Guess which of the characters I stamped first? My second card is completely different, it’s bright and bold 🤪😁 After I stamped and colored all little critters, I started thinking about the background. And it seemed to me that a non-Christmas stencil would be perfect here. Or rather, Tropical Leaves A2 Stencil! A great versatile design that suits any season! And as a finishing touch, I used a glitter sentiment on a vellum backing. Hope you liked this card ideas! Happy crafting and have a great weekend! Eugy

Joyeux Noel Nutcracker

by Michelle Bala on Nov 07 2022
Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a non traditional take on a Nutcracker. while scrolling through Google images, I came across some pastel water colored images I wanted to recreate.  This A2 Tall Nutcracker Die, is my FAVORITE new product!!! I used pink, gold, white and black cardstock to dress up the nutcracker. I backed him on vellum cardstock. I dressed up his hat with a holly sprig from Santa's Hot Cocoa Mug Die and used the snowflake die for the background. I inked up the background with distress oxide inks in shades broken china and stormy sky. I added some splashes of water and than some paint splatters. I scattered some Vintage Bulbs Sequin Mix to the background. The sentiment is from the stamp set, Swanky Christmas Sentiments and the coordinating Die. Thanks for stopping by for a peek! Hope you have a great week! Michelle

Falling Snowflakes Shaker Card by Theary Chea

by Theary Chea on Oct 24 2022
Hello there everyone! It's Theary here, back on the blog again. Today, I wanted to share a fun shaker card that I created using fantastic products from the shop. If you haven't checked out the latest release, you can do so here: October 2022 Release. The background of this shaker card is just beautiful. And the best part is that it was super easy to make. It's so hard to capture the colors and sparkle on camera. But I can assure you that it's a showstopper! I used Falling Snowflakes Stencil on top of white cardstock and my Life Changing Blender Brushes to blend a couple of shades of pink and purple ink. After I removed the stencil, I went in with the ink leftover on my brushes and blended it around the cardstock to create some interest. I wanted the perfect sentiment for this shaker card, so I heat embossed in gold the Merry Christmas from the To All A Goodnight stamp set onto a heat-resistant acetate. Be sure to use a heat-resistant acetate, as a regular acetate will warp and burn. This sentiment is perfect to have in your holiday cardmaking stash. It's so whimsical, and the size is just perfect for any size card front. I used a rectangle stitched frame in my stash to create the frame of my shaker card. You can pretty much use anything that you have on hand. I went ahead and ran that through my die-cutting machine a few times out of white cardstock and layered it with the heat-embossed acetate in between using liquid adhesive. This will create the shaker well for our shaker card. Before I assembled the shaker card, I went ahead and cut the Snowflake Prism out of vellum. I adhered the vellum snowflake onto the center of the ink-blended background. Then, I added Snowflakes Sequins Clay and Embellishments and attached the acetate panel to the ink-blended panel. I then adhered everything to a white top folding card base. And, that's it! I hope you found some inspiration and get crafty in your craft space! Until next time! Have a wonderfully blessed day, Theary Chea (@cloudycoraldesigns)

Rainbow Christmas

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Oct 06 2022
Hello! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia. Today I´m sharing this card showing a non traditional coloring for Christmas: rainbow! Because there are more colors than green and red, right? I started by making the background with a light blending of rainbow colors. the best tools to make the perfect soft coloring are the Life changing Blender brushes that you can purchase individually or in 2, 4 or 6 pack in the PFS web.  With the Slimline Christmas Tree Lot Stencil I colored over the background with a generous and heavy amount of ink, to make the contrast.  The Scene builder Brick wall stamp it´s perfect to use with the Animal Crackers Christmas wishes stamp because the animals are hanging off the wall. I also used the coordinated die for this cute stamp.  To finish the card, I added the sentiment from the An animal Crackers Christmas Hello stamp set cut with the coordinated die.  I hope you like it and try to put a little color into your Christmas cards! Thank you so much for stopping by. Silvana.

Magical Christmas Shaker!

by Sasha Omoniala on Sep 15 2022
Hello Lovely Crafty Friends, I am Sasha and I am so very honoured to be bringing you this blog post. This is my first time on the blog so please bare with me. I am OBSESSED with shaker cards, honestly I can’t get enough of them!I am equally obsessed with the Picket Fence Studios sequin mixes so a card that features both is perfect! Make sure to check out the reel on the PFS Instagram to get a better idea of this   I like to call this type of shaker a floating edge shaker because it is fully transparent, let me know in the comments if you think it should be called something else.I started off by taking a DL plastic card/poly bag. The bag measures 10.5’ long x 4.5’ wide. I cut the card bag down to 6’ long, the width remains the same. I then cut a 6’ long x 4.5’ wide piece of acetate which will go inside the poly bag to add stability. TIP: if the acetate piece doesn’t fit inside the bag, just cut a sliver of it off. I splattered the acetate with white acrylic paint then I stuck down a few sequins from the gorgeous plum pudding mix. Whilst that dried, I took a 5’ x 7’ card base and used the A2 Evergreens on a Hill cover plate to cut the card base down to about 4’ long. I then cut out 4 other die cuts of this cover plate. I ink blended 2 of the die cuts with some Prize ribbon and Wilted Violet distress oxides to create some snowy To assemble the card, I put the acetate into the poly bag then added a bit of the plum pudding sequins before sealing it with double sided tape. I then stuck it down to the  inside of the back part of the card base. To cover the tape,  I stuck down one of the 4 cover plate panels over the taped area. To the front of the card I took a Santa’s Sleigh Ride snow globe die cut and cut it up so that the sleigh was separate from the houses. I stuck the houses down on the bottom part of the card, in front of the white trees then I propped up the ink blended panel on some foam tape and stuck that over I finished the card off with the ink blended greetings die cut on the front the snowy trees and the ink blended sleigh over the acetate. I think this is a fun way to create a shaker card. It’s so super light and not bulky at all but most importantly it is magical with all those beautiful sequins! There will be a reel over on the PFS Instagram showing another example of an edge shaker and a Full Video Tutorial on my YouTube channel LOVE BUIlDS UP CRAFTS on Friday. Hope to see you there!  Crafty hugs, Sasha x

Build a Halloween Scene Using a Christmas Stamp

by Theary Chea on Sep 12 2022
Hello dear friends! I hope that you're having a wonderful week. Today, I want to share some inspiration to stretch your crafting supplies. This might sound crazy, but I used a Christmas stamp to create a Halloween card for this project. Yup, you heard that correctly. It's so fun to find a different use for your holiday-themed stamps, and it makes it that much more worth it when you're able to stretch it to work with two separate holidays. This card used the masking technique heavily. If you know anything about me, I love to mask and color. Creating a one-layered card can be challenging, but using the masking method makes it that much easier. I used the Build a Gingerbread House stamp set to create a spooky house on my card front. Instead of using traditional Christmas colors, I opted for a darker palette to portray a creepy Halloween house. I used alcohol markers to color the scene as well as ink blending. To add to the scene, I used the Slim Line Welcome to the Graveyard Blending Stencil and the A2 Claudron of Bats stencil. These stencils are excellent because there are so many different elements that you can use to build a Halloween scene. To give some of the images more dimension and texture, I applied a layer of Paper Velvet onto the stencil using my Mix Media Spatula. I heat embossed onto black cardstock using white embossing powder, a sentiment from the Here For The Boo stamp set. And I added a black frame using the 5x7 Stitched Rectangle die. To finish off the card, I wanted to add some embellishments. The Scaredy Cat Sequin mix is perfect for the scene I was building. The mix includes little black cats that I adhered to the card front and added white details on it to create more interest. I hope you found some inspiration to mix and match the stamp sets that you already have to create something unexpected. Until next time!Have a wonderfully blessed day!Theary Chea
