Happy Father’s Day - Let the Good Times Roll

by Brenda Noelke on Jun 07 2023
Hello, fellow crafters and happy Wednesday!! Brenda here with a Father’s Day card for dad featuring several goodies from the latest release!!  I began by stamping the A Nice Cold One Stamp Set onto a panel of kraft cardstock with brown ink. I splattered it with diluted white gouache and a paint brush. Once it was dry, I trimmed it down, adhered a strip of black cardstock to each side, then adhered it to an A2 white card base.   The Happy Father’s Day Word Die was die-cut once from black cardstock and three times from heavyweight white cardstock. They were stacked and adhered together with the black layer slightly offset. It was then adhered to the front of the card. The supporting sentiment, from the Make It Dirty Stamp Set, was stamped onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. It was cut out with the Coordinating Die and popped up toward the bottom of the card with foam adhesive. I know my dad would love a nice cold one for Father’s Day!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great day!! Brenda

Clean And Simple, And FAST, Holiday Cards with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Dec 04 2021
HI guys! It's Erica with you today for your daily dose of 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration!  If, like me, you are not that great at getting your Christmas cards done early, you might be looking at a classic design that's easy to mass-produce. The cards I'm sharing today are perfect for just this!  I have used the gorgeous Christmas Poinsettia Star stamp and heat embossed it with gold on white card stock. This was then trimmed down a little bit and adhered to a white card base.  The sentiment is also heat embossed, in gold of course, and this is from the For The Holidays stamp set.  Easy Peasy, and mass-produce-able in a jiffy!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

A Christmas Flower

by Sandi MacIver on Nov 12 2021
Hey cardmaking friends, welcome back.  It's Sandi MacIver here.  Today I have a GRUNGE CHRISTMAS card for you created with Picket Fence Studios A Christmas Flower Stamp Set.  I decided to stencil a bit of a messy "grungy" background just to change it up a bit.  Grunge is a technique I do enjoy, but I have never tried it on a Christmas Card before and I kind of like it.     How to create the Grunge Christmas Card Start by using the Misti to stamp the A Christmas Flower onto Hammermill cardstock using Picket Fence Studios Black Hybrid Ink (copic friendly). Next Use copic Markers to color the image in. Pinks:  RV55, RV17, RV17, Yellow:  Y17,  Greens:  G21, G24, G28 Finally, die cut the image out with the coordinating die.   Creating the Grunge Background: This is a soft Grunge with really only two layers. Start with a black card base 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 and secure it to a protected work surface. Spray the Flower Stencil with Pixie Spray and lay it over the cardstock. Use a palette knife to add Snowdrop White paper Glaze through the stencil randomly - don't fill it in completely. Remove the stencil and wash immediately.   While you are waiting for the paper glaze to dry, cut the Snowflake Alice twice from white card stock and once from Simon Glitter White. Stack the snowflakes with the glitter one on top and glue it to the top of the card front. Attach the card front to a top folding A2 White card base. Mix some Gold Gansai Tambi ink and splatter the front of the card. Stamp and cut out the sentiment from the Fancy Christmas Sentiments and coordinating die set. Use foam squares to attach the flower and sentiment to the card front. Embellish with 1950's Sequins.          used for the Picket Fence Studios Grunge Christmas Card: Here are the products I used today.  Compensated affiliate links used  where available at no cost to you. Let's Pucker Up No-line colouring!

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Aug 10 2021

Hi guys!  It's Erica, in full summer mode, on the blog today! As it's full-on summer here in Spain, and it's hot, hot, hot, I´m really into limonada (Spanish lemonade) to cool me down. It's so refreshing and zesty. I love it!  I'm incorporating my love for limonada in today's post by making a card with the Pucker Up stamp set, that is a couple of lemons hanging from a branch. I decided to do some no-line colouring with Copics, so I stamped it up with Fadeout Ink from Ink On 3 and my Mini MISTI, to make sure I got a solid print with the ink.  The Copics are yellows for the citruses, greens for the leaves and browns for the branches. It probably took about half an hour to colour this, thanks to the no-line colouring way of doing it. It will take less time if you stamp it up with Black Hybrid ink and just coloured in the images. I wanted to use the Seeing Double Alpha dies and spell out ´zest´ but I wanted sparkly card stock, so I grabbed the Lime Christmas Green paper glitz and spread some on a piece of card stock. This I set aside to dry thoroughly before doing anything else with it. In the Pucker Up stamp set there is a sentiment that says ´sweet with a little sass´ and I customised it to say ´sweet with a little zest´ by cutting out the letters and puzzling the sentiment together. That's one of the fab ways of stretching your sentiments that you already have, with the help of an alphabet die set, so this is a must have in your stash.  That's it from me for today, but I hope you like the card!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Cats Are Family with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Jun 08 2021
Hi guys!  It's Erica back on the Picket Fence blog with a card I made with the darling Cats Are Family stamp and whilst I didn't use it, it has a coordinating die set. It's purr-fect, if you ask me.  I stamped up the biggest image in the set with Black Hybrid Ink on Copic friendly ink, on Neenah card stock.  Naturally I went with a rainbow theme for the books the cat is perched on. I mean, duh, right? LOL.  The cat was coloured grey as I have a stray cat living with me, who's grey and I call him Carlos The Cat. He's very cheeky and likes to perch on top of our gate post, taunting The Cheeky Chicas (my dogs)  The final thing I added was a shadow from the books and the cat, as we live in sunny Spain and I love sunshine. Oh, and the sentiment in the top right corner was stamped with Black Hybrid ink. I almost added sequins, because cats love bling and round things, right? But I managed to resist!  That's it from me for today but thanks for stopping by! If you would like a colouring tutorial for this, let me know in the comments and I will start working on it.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

CAS Maple Leaves with Judy

The October Picket Fence Studios release is here and it's one of my favorites! Have you had a chance to check it out? Today I am sharing a trio of cards made with the new Maple Leaves Dies. All of my cards today are using the same color scheme and style - clean and simple, along with inchies! You can find the entire release HERE. Happy Shopping! All of the leaves were made with a "brayer cleaning sheet" from my Gel Press printmaking days awhile back. I love how they turned out. I like the touch of pink with the fall orange, red, and gold. First up is a card using the larger of the dies, and a sentiment from Dad's Day. My second card uses the smaller of the Maple Leaves Die, and a sentiment from Weathering the Storm Together.  Here is the brayer sheet as I started cutting: And finally, the third of the trio uses the new Thank You for Being You stamp set, as well as the larger die. There are two other new leaf dies as well, that are just as fabulous, so be sure to check them out too!

Stencilling Madness with Erica!

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Apr 16 2020
Hi guys!  Erica back on the PF Blog today and I've got quite a few cards for you!  All the cards in this post are made with stencils one way or another, or a third. I do love them and it's so great that there are new ones in each release. For these cards I have used Flowers and Stars. My first two cards are very simple and fun, as well as quick. I have used the Flowers stencil for these. With the help of some Life Changing Blender Brushes and Atelier inks I ink blended the inks directly onto card bases. The stencils have all had a good spray of Pixie Spray on them to keep them in place. It's such a must have for those intricate stencil. It's almost impossible to get clean, crisp lines without it.  For these two I started with a light blend of Bee Sting Yellow ink in the middle of the Flowers stencil and worked my way out towards the edges. Then to create some contrast and depth, I added some Marigold Orange on one and Marilyn Red on the other.  To finish these off I cut out the Hey You in black and white card stock. The background piece I cut out four times and layered up to raise the whole thing up. On the next card I've used the same Flowers stencil but stead of ink blending, I've used Paper Glazes to create a rainbow.  The colours I used, from left to right, are Agapantha Purple, Peony Pink, Marigold Orange, Golden Rose, Daffodil Yellow, Leaf Green and Ocean Poppy.  Make sure you clean off your stencils and tools quickly after you have used Paper Glazes as they do dry fast. I have an old kitchen sponge and tooth brush I use to clean off mine. DO NOT use your Stamp Scrubber on Paper Glaze. I repeat: DO NOT use your Stamp Scrubber to clean off Paper Glaze! It will ruin it!  The sentiment is from Never Faked A Sarcasm and I stamped it with Black Hybrid ink on white card stock, trimmed it down and adhered it to the card right in the middle.  My next card is also very simple, although it took a lot longer to create the background for this one. It's done with Copics and it is done as a dark night sky. The stencil used on it is called Stars and I used Black Pansy Paper Glaze with a palette knife. I thought maybe it would look too dark but it's gorgeous!  To make it look more like a galaxy, I added some details with a white Posca pen. I don't have much luck with white gel pens but the Posca pen works quite well for me. If you want splatters, the Snowdrop White Paper Glaze might work a treat, seeing as it's shimmery too.  The Love Ya word die is cut out of matte black card stock and silver mirror card stock. It's adhered to the card with foam tape cut to shape using the die to cut it.  Well, that's it from me for today but I hope you like the cards and found some inspiration here!  Thanks for stopping by, stay safe and stay home if you can! MAD props to those of you keeping our societies going, I am so proud of you and so grateful to you!  BIG (germ free) HUGS from Erica

Face The Sun with Ceal Pritchett

by Ceal Pritchett on Apr 15 2020
Hello Friends! It's Ceal, here to share a card with you today using our new release set Face The Sun. Y'all this stamp set is Gorgeous! and fun to color I might add. I colored it using the Karin markers which blend so nicely on Bristol paper. If you haven't tried these markers they are dreamy.  To create my card I started with a white heavy weight card base, a black panel for the mat and a Bristol panel to stamp the image. I stamped the sunflower using our Black Hybrid ink and then colored it with the Karin markers. After I got it all colored I added some soft clouds in the background using the Layers of Clouds stencil.  To finish the card I added the sentiment from the same set, Face The Sun.  Also don't forget the entire store is 20% off  and free US Shipping until further notice

Early Tulip Bouquet Cards Two Ways with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Mar 24 2020
Hi everyone!  It’s Erica here on the PFS blog today, with two spring-feel cards, using the lovely Early Tulip Bouquet stamp.  The first one is a simple sympathy card, with the image part coloured with water colours and lots of white space.  I stamped up the Tulips along the right hand bottom corner, using the Black Hybrid Ink. On this card I kept it horizontally. This is Ranger water colour paper and I used the smooth side. After setting the ink with a heat tool, I used some purple tape and taped the panel down. I placed the tape over the image, along the edges, to keep those parts covered.  The colours I have used are Daniel Smith water colours and I did the tulips in spring like colours. When it was dry, I stamped up the sentiment in the top left corner with Black Hybrid ink and with that the first card was done.  For the second card I used Kraft card stock and stamped up the Tulips with Inkon3 Fadeout ink. To switch things up a little, I did it vertically for this one. I used coloured pencils to colour it in and whilst it takes a long time, it’s so worth it!  To finish off this card I stamped up the Tulips with the Fadeout Ink in the top left corner. Mainly just to fill the space a little. On top of this I heat embossed the sentiment ‘You Are Lovely’ in Metallic Rich Gold embossing powder from WOW! Embossing.  Whilst this one took a lot longer than the first one, it’s lovely to see how different the outcome is using different mediums and card stock. Even such a little thing as switching up the way you stamp the image on your card stock can make a big difference.  That’s it from me for today, thanks for stopping by and I hope you found some inspiration in this post!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Picket Fence Has So Many Fun Words!

by Becky Roberts on Mar 13 2020
Hi Stamping Friends, Becky Roberts from Inking Idaho here today posting to the Picket Fence blog. I really love the sentiments sets that Picket Fence Studios carries, so today I decided to pair them up with some of the stand alone word dies to create cards with sayings that probably weren't meant to go together but sure are fun! Seriously OMG. NO. JUST NO. Seriously Word Die Always be you the world can adjust Always Word Die Love Ya really. truly. absolutely. Love Ya Word Die Coffee you make my heart skip a beat Coffee Word Die The sentiment sets I used are It's Peopley Out There, Favorite Notification and Seriously, Absolutely, Always     Seriously, Absolutely, Always and Favorite Notification It's Peopley Out There Look how fun these words are!   The background for all of these is A City in the World. I started with a stencil background for each of them, but when I added the words, it felt kind of plain, so I stamped the background over the top. Thanks for reading today! Sassy BFF Maggie Mae cards with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Jan 21 2020
Hi guys!  Welcome back to the Picket Fence Studios Blog, it’s Erica here with a couple of very CAS cards. These are not my forte at all, but I am working on it and they are coming *slightly* easier these days. I still feel like they are a bit naked and need something but basically sit on my hands to stop myself from adding more stuff to them. It’s weird but it works, lol! On water colour paper I stamped up BFF Maggie Mae with the Hybrid Black ink and set it with my heat tool a little bit. I do this especially when I am going to use lighter water colours or Copics. For this card I have used Daniel Smith water colours.  The colouring itself of Maggie Mae is pretty easy breezy, and not to detailed. I added light colours and in the areas where I wanted more contrast and details, I have added more of the same colour or a slightly darker one. I didn’t want to go too vivid for this one.  When she was all done and dry, I used the coordinating diecut to cut her out and set her aside while I stamped up a card base. I wanted to use the sentiments from Seriously, Literally, Always because they are so sassy and funny.  Using the Hybrid Black ink again, I stamped them up directly onto the card base. I was only going to make one but while I had my Mini MISTI out and card bases ready, I decided to do one more. This is the SUPER Clean And Simple one. I am in two minds about it. It’s funny and to the point but I do think it needs a bit of colour or something more.  The BFF Maggie Mae image I glued down directly onto one of the card bases and with that the cards were done. So easy but how funny is that?  I love how it turned out with the softer colours on Maggie Mae too. Maybe I will try one with more vivid colours next time though. Just to compare. As long as it’s fun, why not, right?  Well, that’s it from me for today. Thanks for stopping by and spending this time with me, I hope this post inspired you.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Be Creative!

by Mindy Eggen on Jan 15 2020
Welcome back everyone! It's Mindy Eggen here with you today! I love when a stamp set comes along that has images of products I play with. For instance, the I Work for Watercolor stamp set from Picket Fence Studios. This has a ton of crafting images and sentiments on it. While I do not consider myself that good at watercoloring, I am certainly fascinated by it and continue to experiment with it. I stamped the image of the watercolor set in Black ink and colored with copic markers. Then used the coordinating die to cut it out with my Spellbinders Platinum 6 Machine. Keeping this card pretty clean and simple, I stamped a sentiment onto the front a white A2 size card base with Black ink using my Misti tool. Then attached my watercolor set with a dot runner. I really love having the larger sentiment and a small one underneath. The large sentiment also has an artistic look to it which matches perfectly with the theme of this stamp set. I hope this has inspired you! While I love getting inky and creating crazy backgrounds, you can never go wrong with clean and simple. SUPPLIES Below you will find links to the products used.
