Life Is Better With A Friend

by Brenda Noelke on Dec 16 2024
Hello, crafty friends and happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Brenda here today sharing a card featuring the adorable pup in the You Hold My Heart In Your Paw Stamp Set from Saturday's December release!! I began by stamping the pup from the You Hold My Heart In Your Paw Stamp Set onto white cardstock with Momento Espresso Truffle ink. I colored it with Copic markers, then fussy cut it out. I used a white gel pen to brighten the white highlights on the eyes and nose. For the background, I stenciled the Fetch Stencil Set onto a panel of white cardstock. Cream Puff Paper Glaze Glass from the Felines Sampler was applied through the bones layer and Chocolate Frosting Paper Glaze Luxe from the Canines Sampler was used with the paw print stencil. Once dry, the panel was die-cut with the third largest deckle edge die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Vintage Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set. A panel of burnt orange cardstock was die-cut with the largest die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set. I used the largest rectangle die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Stamp Cover Plate with Postmarks Dies to cut the bottom layer from brown cardstock. All the layers were layered and adhered together using liquid glue. The pup was also adhered with liquid glue, letting the ear hang off the top of the card. The sentiment, from the Life Is Better With A Furry Friend Stamp Set, was stamped onto white cardstock with yellow and orange dye ink. It was die-cut with the second largest oval die in the Basic Die Cutting Die Set 1 and popped up with foam tape. A trio of hearts from the Pick Me Sequin Mix finishes off the card. That does it for me today!! Be sure to check out the rest of the December release in the shop!! Have a great week!! Brenda

Friend - A Peony of Contrast

by Brenda Noelke on Oct 22 2024
Hello, friends and happy Tuesday!! Brenda here with a friendship card featuring the stunning A Peony of Contrast Stamp Set!! This is definitely one of my faves from the October release!! I began by stamping the A Peony of Contrast Stamp Set onto white cardstock with pale tan ink for some no-line coloring. I colored it with Copic markers and colored pencils, then fussy cut it out. For the background, I spread Huckleberry Blue Paper Glaze onto a panel of navy cardstock through the Frame of Mind 6x8 Stencil with a palette knife. (I turned the stencil at an angle slightly for a little more interest.) Once it was totally dry, it was die-cut with the largest die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set. The peony was adhered with liquid glue. I also spread the Huckleberry Blue Paper Glaze onto a small piece of navy cardstock. Once that was dry, "friend" was die-cut from it using the Cheers My Friend Word Die Set, along with three more layers from navy cardstock. They were stacked and adhered together with liquid glue, then added to the front of the card. I decided to forgo any sequins or gems and let the beautiful bloom shine. I can't wait to color this stamp set with all the mediums!! Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Have a wonderful week!! Brenda

Blow out the candles interactive card

by Silvana Chambon on Jul 01 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia and today I want to share with you a fun and interactive card made with some of the new products from the June release.  This card has a little story behind: this year I'm turning 40, and I have a group of childhood friends who will also turn 40, so I found myself needing to start creating several cards to have. This is a special age milestone and I thought It could be fun to make special cards for this.  Let´s talk about the card! It has a birthday gift box on the front but behind are the candles hidden. On the top you can see a tab that when you pull it, you´ll reveal the candles.  For the background I cut a light pink color cardstock in an A2 size panel and used the Sprinkles 6x8 Layering Stencil set changing colors in each layer. The present box is from the lovely Surprise! It´s your day stamp set designed by Kelly Taylor. I stamped it over the background to have it as a guide, and I stamped it again over a piece of paper, colored it and cut it in two: the inside and back of the card and the front. I glued the back piece over the stamped box on the background and cut a slit where the pull mechanism will be.  The 40 candles are from the new set Blow out the candles which has a coordinating die too. I stamped with embossing ink and put gold embossing powder over and set it. With some acetate I made the piece that holds the candles and glued them with some double sided tape. The front of the box was poped up with foam tape giving the candles room to slide under.  I put the pull tab under the background and put some foam tape all over the background (not over the tab´s space) and glued it onto an A2 card base.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and also was made with the embossing technique.  To finish it up, I added some sequins from the Iridiscent Moonshine Sequin Mix. And that´s it! You can visit my Instagram post to see the card in action, if you like. I know there are some good tutorials on Youtube to make this kind of cards, so you can find some of them there.  I hope you liked this card and it inspires you to make one for a special ocassion. Have a fantastic week and happy crafting! See you on my next blog post.  Silvana.

Thank You - Blooming Trumpet Flowers

by Brenda Noelke on Jun 05 2024
Hello, crafty friends!! I hope you are all doing well!! Brenda here with a thank you card featuring the gorgeous Blooming Trumpet Flowers Stamp Set, along with a few other goodies from the latest May release!! I began by stamping the flower and leaves from the Blooming Trumpet Flowers Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored them with Copic markers, added dots to the stamen with a yellow gel pen, then cut them out with the Coordinating Dies. Next, I die-cut a panel of white cardstock with the smallest die in the A2 Rectangle Layering Die Set. I stenciled Paper Glaze Luxe: Twinkle Lights - Purple onto the panel through the You Make the World Shimmer A2 Stencil with a palette knife. Once dry, it was adhered to a panel of purple gingham cardstock from the Sweet Gingham Fabulous Glossy Cardstock Pack. The sentiment, also from the Blooming Trumpet Flowers Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto black cardstock. The sentiment, flowers and leaves were all popped up with foam tape. Sequins from the Razzle Dazzle and All About the Purple sequin mixes finish off the card. Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Have a fabulous Wednesday!! Brenda

DIAGONAL GATEFOLD CARD

DIAGONAL GATEFOLD CARD

by Silvana Chambon on Feb 28 2024
Hello, crafters and welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana here and on this new post I´m sharing a creative fold card: a diagonal gatefold card that will allow you to make two cards with this closing form out of one sheet. I´m using some of the new products from the amazing February release. Let´s see how the finished card looks: The card opens to the left and to the top, with the diagonal cut. To make this, you have to start with a piece of heavy cardstock and make two score lines on the half on both edges of the cardstock, that means at 4 1/4" inches on the 8 1/2" side and at 5 1/2" on the 11". After that you will have to cut the cardstock diagonally meeting the left bottom point with the right top angle. I made a scheme for you just in case: After this you will have two diagonal gatefold base cards. Just press the score marks very well with your bone folder in order to get the flaps flat.  Now, the fun part! I started by making an impression with the I bee home 6x8 stencil in the left flap, making sure that the stencil covered all the card first, but leaving the upper flat out of the plates.  After that, put the upper flap down and, making sure that the pattern aligned correctly in the embossed area, I covered it with a paper and started to apply the new Paper Glaze Bee Sting.    I colored and cut some images from the Wreath Building: Greetings from our hive stamp set and arranged them in the embossed area.  To finish the card and to make the flaps down, I created a shape in form an hexagon in black heavy cardstock and cut it three times. I heated embossed the sentiment form the same stamp set in one and glue the three forms together making a strong heavy piece to go in the middle of the card, but just glued on the top flap.  I added some white details to the stamped images and that´s the end!  I really like how this card turned out with the creative fold. And I hope you like it too!  Many thanks for stopping by and read my post for today. Have a great day and happy creations!  Silvana.

Sparkly Playful Sara Girl - with Paper Glaze Luxe

by Colleen Balija on Feb 26 2024
HI friends! I've got a fun and sparkly card to share with you today using the new Sara Girl stamp and Paper Glaze Luxe in Lime Soda! Also, I'll be using the existing Framed Leaves stencil!  I fell in love with Sara Girl just as soon as I saw her, so I've used her a few times this month! First, I stamped her in permanent black ink. Next, I colored her hair and face. The hair is colored with alcohol inks n shades of pink, giving her a funky and modern look! I applied Paper Splatters Watercolor in Kiwi Lime over the pennant on her necklace. Then I die cut her and a piece of black and white cardstock in 3 rectangle sizes and glued them together. I think that makes a nice frame for Sara!  Next, I focused on the background. Starting with 5.5x4.25 piece of black cardstock, I placed the cardstock on the PFS Paper Inking Palette sized 5x6 and then placed the stencil over the paper and the palette. These palettes are incredible because they have a sticky surface, making it perfect for stenciling or ink blending! They come in a variety of sizes too! Once I had the stencil and cardstock in place, I applied the Lime Soda Paper Glaze Luxe through the stencil with a palette knife and then immediately removed the stencil. I set the card panel aside to dry. The glaze dries very quickly!!!  Once the glaze was dried, you could see the lime shimmer through the black cardstock, and I loved the contrast of black against lime! In person it is much, much more shimmery! I adhered Sara Girl over the background panel. NOTE: Sometimes glue doesn't adhere well to a surface like the glaze, so I used a strong adhesive and that did the trick. Also, I thought about adding a sentiment, but this card panel was so lovely that I didn't want to add to it, so I'll put one on the inside of the card for my recipient!  This card was so easy to put together because of the paper glaze and the details in the Sara Girl stamp! I'm so glad you stopped by today! You can find the products I've used for today's card by hovering over the item name and then clicking on it. That will take you to the PFS shop!

Another Rainbow for all Seasons by Laura

by Laura Nistal on Jul 11 2023
Hello everyone! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this card that I hope will inspire you!  To start I used the "Tweet Tweet Friends Stamps” which I stamped with the “Black Hybrid ink pad” and then painted with alcohol markers. Then to give the stamps more relief, I used the white Gelly Roll in the areas where I wanted to give shine and the black Micron Pigma in the areas where I wanted to give more depth. Below I used the “Tweet Tweet Friends Coordinating dies” to cut them out, but you can also carefully cut them out with scissors. Next I prepared the rainbow with the “Another Rainbow for All Seasons Die” that I cut in different colors. I also cut the clouds out of the "Slimline Curvy Rainbow Die” to support the rainbow. For the background I used the “Slimline Cloud Coverage Stencil” to simulate a sky and I painted it with distress inks. And for the sentiment I used a phrase from the “Tweet Tweet Friebds Stamps” that i stamped with the “Black Hybrid ink pad”. Finally I prepared the composition, glued all the pieces and this is how the result was! I hope you like it and that it inspires you, I remember that you can find all these products and many others in the Picket Fence Studios store. A huge kiss and until next time!

On This Special Day card

by Evgeniya Ishbul’dina on Mar 17 2023
Hello there! It's Eugy here, and today I'm sharing this bright birthday card I made using the fun sentiment die set called "On This Special Day Word Die." I've been wanting to use this word die set for quite some time now to make a special card for someone's birthday, and I'm so excited to finally share how it turned out. I love how the large, blocky font of this die cut sentiment contrasts with the fun, whimsical patterns on the patterned paper I created for the card base. Here I paired the Tree Bark 6×8 Stencil and the Presents for All Seasons stamp. This was the first time I tried brand new tool: Paper Pouncers. The stencil and pouncers are versatile tools that can be used in many different ways to create a wide array of beautiful patterns and textures. I look forward to experimenting further with these products to achieve additional unique effects and backgrounds in the future. I accented the card with some gold foil cardstock for some fun texture and finished it off with a few gemstones from the Ghost House Gem Mix. Overall I'm really pleased with how this birthday card turned out. I hope it inspires you in your own crafting and card making adventures! Have a great weekend! Eugy

Under the sea scene card

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Jan 18 2023
Hello, everyone! Happy New year! It´s Silvana here with another inspiration card featuring some of the new products from the January release.  This card has a background story. I live in the southern hemisphere and here we´re in summer, with very high temperatures, the ideal climate to go to the beach. One day, as I was  walking in the shore, the Atlantic Ocean was so clear and blue that inspired me to create the sea for this card.  But, I didn´t have any ocean themed stamps, so I just kept my photo of the ocean in my phone just in case. When I received the DT package and saw all the products of January release, I realize that this card was meant to be made. The new release not only has these beautiful stamp set called Even more of a fishy Lot with the coordinating die, but has a lot of fishy themed products! It was amazing and incredible.  This release also have a lot of stencils that goes perfectly with the ocean themed. I use the Sun with Rays 6x8 stencil to make the sunset sky. It´s a very special time, the sunset in our beaches. When the sun goes down over the sea, and dissapears completely, we applaude to say thanks for another beautiful summer day. It´s a special time to be in the beach. Of course, I couldn´t make this beautiful background without the help of my favourite tool for inkblending: the Life Changing Blender Brushes.  Our beaches are special, and we can have the opportunity to see some whales in a few specific months. We´re blessed with their visits. So, as I said, this is a unique and special card for me. I hope you enjoyed the story and give this products a try.  Thanks for reading.  Silvana.

Falling Snowflakes Shaker Card by Theary Chea

by Theary Chea on Oct 24 2022
Hello there everyone! It's Theary here, back on the blog again. Today, I wanted to share a fun shaker card that I created using fantastic products from the shop. If you haven't checked out the latest release, you can do so here: October 2022 Release. The background of this shaker card is just beautiful. And the best part is that it was super easy to make. It's so hard to capture the colors and sparkle on camera. But I can assure you that it's a showstopper! I used Falling Snowflakes Stencil on top of white cardstock and my Life Changing Blender Brushes to blend a couple of shades of pink and purple ink. After I removed the stencil, I went in with the ink leftover on my brushes and blended it around the cardstock to create some interest. I wanted the perfect sentiment for this shaker card, so I heat embossed in gold the Merry Christmas from the To All A Goodnight stamp set onto a heat-resistant acetate. Be sure to use a heat-resistant acetate, as a regular acetate will warp and burn. This sentiment is perfect to have in your holiday cardmaking stash. It's so whimsical, and the size is just perfect for any size card front. I used a rectangle stitched frame in my stash to create the frame of my shaker card. You can pretty much use anything that you have on hand. I went ahead and ran that through my die-cutting machine a few times out of white cardstock and layered it with the heat-embossed acetate in between using liquid adhesive. This will create the shaker well for our shaker card. Before I assembled the shaker card, I went ahead and cut the Snowflake Prism out of vellum. I adhered the vellum snowflake onto the center of the ink-blended background. Then, I added Snowflakes Sequins Clay and Embellishments and attached the acetate panel to the ink-blended panel. I then adhered everything to a white top folding card base. And, that's it! I hope you found some inspiration and get crafty in your craft space! Until next time! Have a wonderfully blessed day, Theary Chea (@cloudycoraldesigns)
