Blow out the candles interactive card

by Silvana Chambon on Jul 01 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia and today I want to share with you a fun and interactive card made with some of the new products from the June release.  This card has a little story behind: this year I'm turning 40, and I have a group of childhood friends who will also turn 40, so I found myself needing to start creating several cards to have. This is a special age milestone and I thought It could be fun to make special cards for this.  Let´s talk about the card! It has a birthday gift box on the front but behind are the candles hidden. On the top you can see a tab that when you pull it, you´ll reveal the candles.  For the background I cut a light pink color cardstock in an A2 size panel and used the Sprinkles 6x8 Layering Stencil set changing colors in each layer. The present box is from the lovely Surprise! It´s your day stamp set designed by Kelly Taylor. I stamped it over the background to have it as a guide, and I stamped it again over a piece of paper, colored it and cut it in two: the inside and back of the card and the front. I glued the back piece over the stamped box on the background and cut a slit where the pull mechanism will be.  The 40 candles are from the new set Blow out the candles which has a coordinating die too. I stamped with embossing ink and put gold embossing powder over and set it. With some acetate I made the piece that holds the candles and glued them with some double sided tape. The front of the box was poped up with foam tape giving the candles room to slide under.  I put the pull tab under the background and put some foam tape all over the background (not over the tab´s space) and glued it onto an A2 card base.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and also was made with the embossing technique.  To finish it up, I added some sequins from the Iridiscent Moonshine Sequin Mix. And that´s it! You can visit my Instagram post to see the card in action, if you like. I know there are some good tutorials on Youtube to make this kind of cards, so you can find some of them there.  I hope you liked this card and it inspires you to make one for a special ocassion. Have a fantastic week and happy crafting! See you on my next blog post.  Silvana.

Happy 12th Birthday

by Brenda Noelke on Jun 17 2024
Hello, fellow crafters!! Brenda here with you today!! I hope you had a great weekend!! I'm sharing a card today featuring a few goodies from the new June release combined with several older products!! My niece will be 12 in December and she loves purple, so this will be prefect for her!! I started by stamping the cupcake from the Sweet Holiday Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored it with Copic markers, added dots to the stamen with a white gel pen, then cut it out with the Coordinating Die. I also stamped the "12" candles from the Blow Out the Candles Stamp Set onto white cardstock with purple die ink and cut them out with the Coordinating Dies. For the background, I stenciled the Sprinkles 6x8 Layering Stencils onto white cardstock using dye inks and blender brushes, then die-cut it with the middle sized arched die in the Basic Die-cutting Die Set 1. I die-cut a frame from pink cardstock using the smallest and middle dies from the same die set. The sprinkled panel and frame were adhered to a card front from the Birthday Bash Fabulous Foiling A2 Card Fronts pack. The cupcake and candles were adhered with liquid glue. For the sentiment, I die-cut "birthday" three times from white cardstock and once from black cardstock using the Happy Birthday Word Die Set. I used a Pint-size Paper Pouncer to pounce one of the white layers with purple dye ink. All of the layers were adhered together with liquid glue, slightly offsetting the black layer, then adhered across the cupcake liner. "Happy" is also from the Sweet Holiday Stamp Set. It was stamped onto white cardstock with purple ink and cut out with the Coordinating Die. Another layer was die-cut from black ink. They were adhered together with the black layer offset and popped up with black foam tape. Sound Waves Gems were adhered to the top of the candles and around the sentiment to finish off the card. Thanks so much for spending a bit of your Monday with me!! Have a great week!! Brenda
