I Dream In Salt Water

Hello there! Today I have a card for you featuring Pisces Girl, which was released last month. She is the latest in the Horoscope Girls range and I had to ink her up as I have a birthday in February and am therefore a Pisces girl! All the Horoscope girls are fun to colour. They have amazing hair and in Pisces Girl you can see she has lots of little fish in her hair - so cute! I began by stamping her onto white cardstock using Black Hybrid Ink. I coloured her with Copics and cut her out with the coordinating die. The Copic numbers are listed below if you are interested. For my background I took a panel of white cardstock and the Taylored Expressions Rectangle Masking Stencil. I secured the stencil to my panel from behind using Frog Tape. In the A2 Tall Grass And Waves With Tile & Wood Floors stamp set, there is a wave stamp which I thought would fit well on my card today. So I took that and stamped it onto my panel, from top to bottom, using Versamark Ink. I removed the stencil, applied HA White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I reattached the stencil once more and then using Life Changing Blender Brushes I blended Distress Oxides from top down. I used Chipped Sapphire, Prize Ribbon, Mermaid Lagoon and Salvaged Patina. I deliberately didn't blend the ink all the way to the bottom as I wanted the area under the sentiment to be clear but you can still see the waves which I like. The embossed waves resist the ink and this is always a fun technique. Once I finished the blending, I removed the stencil and then cleaned off any excess ink from the waves using a soft towel. The wave panel was adhered flat onto a base card and Pisces Girl was popped up with foam tape. I then took a sentiment from Merpeople Of The Sea and stamped it onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white detail embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out to fit the width of my panel. This was also added with foam tape. Even though there is quite a lot going on on this card, I do think that it still has a CAS feel to it and I loved how it came together. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have a good day. Sending Sympathy with Rachelle

Hello there - it's Rachelle with you today and unfortunately, I needed several sympathy cards during this past Christmas holiday. I made multiples of the same design and I'd like to share this layout. This is a mini-slimline design that started with an ink-blended background using the Slim Line Lots of Blossoms Stencil and a selection of blue Distress Oxide Inks. This panel was die cut using the larger rectangle from the Mini Slim Line Double Stitched Rectangles Die Cutting System. The Slim Line Oversized With Sympathy Word Die was cut from navy card stock, glued onto the stencil panel and the overhang was trimmed from the back side. This panel was attached to a piece of pearlized aqua card stock and then adhered to a slim line card base. The card was finished up with a scattering of the beautiful pearly gray gems from the Moon Shadow Gem Mix. Thanks so much for joining me today! Hugs - Rachelle

Hello shaker card with Michelle

I used the Hello die insert along with the slimline double stitched rectangle die to create a shaker card. Hello there, Lisa here today for 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration. Christmas isn't too far away now, but maybe you are still creating the odd card here and there for close family and friends. Today I am sharing a card using two of the cutest woodland bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey and I thought I would pair them with an older background stamp. It's called On An Autumn Countyside and I love it. I think it can be used just as easily for Christmas cards as well as Autumn cards especially when you white heat emboss as it looks perfectly frosty. We all like to stretch our stamps don't we?! I started by stamping the tree onto some white cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set and then set to work with my Distress Oxide Inks. Using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade from top to bottom. I trimmed the panel down and matted it onto some navy cardstock which i then added onto a top folding white 110lb notecard. Not a very traditional colour scheme but I love Seedless Preserves and wanted to use it today, and we can do whatever we want in cardmaking can't we! The two bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey were stamped using Black Hybrid Ink and coloured with Copics (numbers listed a little later). They were then cut out with the coordinating dies and popped onto the panel using foam tape. To finish the card I stamped a greeting from Lots Of Christmas Cheer onto navy cardstock using Versamark Ink. Again, I applied white embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out into a little banner shape. I added some white gel pen stitching onto it and then added it to the panel with foam tape. Iconic Beauty Kiara - Masked Ink Blending with Rachelle

Hello everyone! It's Rachelle with you today and I've got some ink blending & masking tips for you! I created several masks, which I used to color in this NEW "Iconic Beauty Kiara" image and it's all done with the small, fine "Life Changing Blender Brushes" and Distress Oxide Inks! I first inked up the "Kiara" image on a piece of scrap paper using my MISTI to create my main template. I then drew in the basic shape of her face and some of the main shadow plains/contours to get an idea how I was going to shape her face. After I was happy with the sketch, I copied this onto a piece of tracing paper, redrew the lines on the backside and then transferred the images onto different pieces of paper. I needed these images: 1) a full mask for the entire figure 2) the face 3) the shirt. Here's a picture of what these masks looked like: I hand cut omits for the face & shirt using my craft knife and fussy cut the full-image mask using small scissors. I stamped the Kiara image onto an A2 panel and placed the full-image mask on top. I used Salty Ocean as an overall background color and then ink blended Prize Ribbon and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Inks through the "Flowers" Stencil to create my background pattern. The shirt was blended using one of the small round brushes with "Kitsch Flamingo" DOI and then I colored the face with several additional Distress Oxide Inks. I did paint a very fine line of eye shadow ("Salty Ocean") along her lid line but that was the only brushwork on this piece. To deepen the image post ink blending, I placed her back into my MISTI and re-stamped to sharpen the edges. That's a real advantage when using a MISTI! I trimmed the image down to 4" x 5.25" and adhered it to a top-folding A2 card front. The heat-embossed sentiment strip was glued to the top panel and I added a couple of gems from the NEW "Celebration Gem Mix" to finish up the card. She is such a beautiful image and I love how all of the Design Team Members found different ways/techniques to color her! Aquarius Girl with Michelle

Hello! I am continuing my series of cards using the Zodiac Girl stamps. This month's release is Aquarius girl, and it you look closely at her hair, it seemed obvious to me what colour it had to be! The card base is acetate, so I cut 4 pieces of cardstock with the coordinating die - one (#1) to stamp and colour in to go on the front of the card, one (#2) to go inside the front of the card to hid the adhesive from the front of the card, one (#3) for inside the card to write a message on, and one (#4) on the back of the card to hid the adhesive from the 3rd piece. Color Your Stress Away

Hello there, Lisa here to share a card with you today. It's no secret that I love to colour the Beautiful Girl stamps and so today's card features Beautiful Girl Sydnee and the Glass Window Rainbow Die. Both of these are slightly older products, but it's always nice to see them used in a different way. To start my card, I stamped Sydnee Girl onto some 80lb white cardstock using Black Hybrid Ink and I coloured her with Copics. The numbers are listed below if you would like to see them. She was then cut out with the coordinating die and set to one side. I created my background by blending Distress Oxide inks onto some white cardstock using an oval masking stencil. Taking my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I applied Cracked Pistachio, Salvaged Patina and Kitsch Flamingo across the panel from top left to bottom right. I then took another panel of 80lb white cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine with the Glass Window Rainbow Die. So, all my pieces were pretty much ready to assemble. All I needed to do was to create my front window panel. Taking another panel of white card, I die cut an oval into the front and then I adhered the stained glass window die cut behind it. I then took two oval dies which were close in size and die cut a frame which I glued to the front just to add a bit more interest. It reminds me a little bit of a cameo brooch/picture! The ink blended panel was added to a top folding A2 note card and then the window panel and Sydnee were popped up with foam tape over the top. The sentiment is from Crafty Lifestyle and it was stamped onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white detail embossing powder and heat set. It was trimmed out and added with foam tape and a little glue. For a bit of sparkle I added a few gems from Oceans Of Green Gem Mix. Copics used: Skin (E53, E21, E00, E000, R20), Lips (R22), Pink Flowers (R22, R21, R20), Eyeshadow (G12, G40), Green Flowers (G12), Hair (E55, E53, E51)

Oh Happy Day!

Hello! It's Rachelle with you today and I've got a rich floral card to share featuring the NEW "Watercolor Roses" Stamp Set! This set has already become a favorite and can be used for so many different occasions! I began by heat embossing the rose bouquet image with gold powder onto heavy (130#) white card stock and I watercolored/die cut the floral with the matching die. I LOVE Art Nouveau design and was so excited to see the NEW Slim Line Changes Stencil! The curved line work on this design is absolutely beautiful and is a special addition to my Picket Fence Studios' stencil collection! I placed the slim line stencil down the middle of an A2 card base and applied "Peacock Feathers" Distress Ink onto the teal card stock with my "Life Changing Blender Brush." I really like the framing effect this slim line pattern gives to this A2-sized panel! I left the stencil in place and flecked gold watercolor paint on top so that the speckle would only be visible within the stenciled pattern. Once the panel was dry, I glued it to a top-folding A2 card base and heat embossed one of the wonderful sentiments from this stamp set with the same gold powder onto the finished teal background. I added a couple of drops of my "Peacock Feathers" Reinker to a plastic palette and carefully painted around the edge of the white die cut margin so that the floral would blend into the teal background. This keeps the color on the roses bright and clean (with white highlights) but removes the harsh contrast of the white edge against the dark card stock. I popped the roses up with foam tape for a bit of dimension and added a mixture of embellishments in coordinating colors: "Iridescent Moonshine" Sequins, "Sands Of Time" Gem Mix, and the matte gold circle sequins from the "Pumpkin Cookies Sequin Mix Plus." If You've Got It, Haunt It Tag

Hello! Larisa here and today, I'm sharing a fun little tag I made using the If You've Got It Haunt It (currently on sale!) and Triple Trouble Stamp Sets! To create my tag, I die cut the smallest scalloped rectangle in deep purple card stock. Then I trimmed a piece of white card stock to fit inside. I stamped out my sentiments and my bats. Then I stamped and colored my witch image. After cutting her out, I added her to the center of the tag along with some gold thread. At the top of the tag, I punched a hole and added some orange ribbon. This tag is quick and easy to make and perfect for added a fun and whimsical touch to your Halloween Treats! With Sympathy - The Cards We Never Want To Make

Hello there, Lisa here today to share a sympathy card with you. These are the cards that we never want to make. I actually find it easier to have a few ready on hand to send out, then at least I am not struggling to do it when the need arises. For sympathy cards, I often keep my colours muted, or at last keep the card really simple. I never feel it's the time for a lot of clutter or "noise" on a card. I started by taking a panel of 80lb white cardstock and securing the Slim Line Changes Stencil to it (from behind) with low tack tape. Then, using Life Changing Blending Brushes, I blended Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxides randomly through the stencil. I removed the stencil and cleaned it off. Next I took the Slim Line Oversized With Sympathy Word Die and die cut it from Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock. The shadow was die cut from vellum. I adhered the die cut sentiment to the vellum using tiny dabs of wet adhesive so that they wouldn't be visible and then I set it aside to dry. I put an acrylic block on it to make sure it was really stuck down tightly. You could even add extra layers of the word die if you want, to give the card a little bit more dimension. Next, for a bit of extra interest, I took the Leaves For Flowers stamp set and stamped a selection of the leaves onto vellum using Versamark Ink. I then applied white detail embossing powder before heat setting. They were then cut out with the coordinating dies. I trimmed the stencilled panel down slightly and adhered it to an A2 top folding horizontal base card using wet adhesive. I then added tiny bits of adhesive onto the back of the vellum and adhered that down over the centre. I put some glue onto the little leaves and placed those around the sentiment. It is definitely possible to use this slim line word die on an A2 card. I just trimmed off the excess from the sides and I like how it was the focal point. I hope that this gives you some inspiration for a clean and simple sympathy card. Until next time, happy crafting!

Thinking of You Shaker Card with Karen Reategui

Hello crafty friends! Today I'm sharing the shaker card featuring the Torch Ginger Tropical Flower Stamp and Die, More Fancy Sentiments Stamp and Dies, Center Flower 6x6 Stencil, Silver Bells Paper Glitz and Iridescent Moonshine Sequin Mix. Let's begin! I started by placing the Flower 6x6 Stencil on top of an A2 panel and applied Silver Bells Paper Glitz using the Mixed Media Spatulas. I removed the stencil and let this panel dry for about 20 minutes. Once the panel was dry, I added a card base at the back using glue. Next, I die cut a frame using two rectangles dies out of peach cardstock. Additionally, I die cut a piece of acetate and adhered it to the back of the frame using double sided tape. This way I created the window for the shaker. Next, I poured the Iridescent Moonshine Sequin Mix on top of the background created with the Silver Bells Paper Glitz. I also adhered foam tape around the window of the shaker, removed the backing paper and placed it on top of the background to close the shaker window. Torch Ginger Tropical Flower Stamp was stamped using Gingerbread Wood Hybrid ink from Scrapbook.com and I colored the image using Copic markers. I die cut this image using the matching die and placed it on top of the shaker background. Finally, my sentiment from More Fancy Sentiments Stamp was stamped using Black Hybrid ink pad and then it was die cut using the coordinating die. One Set, Two Ways!

Hello! Larisa here and today, I'm sharing two very different cards using the same stamp set: Winter Has Come To Town. I love to stretch my supplies and come up with creative ways to use them! Today, I'm showing you how to use one set two ways! For my first card, I stamped out the village scene using black ink. Then I colored it up using Copics. For the sky, I added some distress inks and then popped up my sentiment with foam tape. A pretty simple card that packs a colorful punch! For my second card, I stamped the village scene again, but this time, I used light grey ink. Then I stamped out my sentiment using red ink and used a black pen to add some shadows. I paired the NEW Winter Scene Building People to my scene and colored them up with Copics. A bit of foam tape, helps them stand out in the scene. Then I layered the whole thing on some dark green card stock. I just love that both of the cards use the same stamp set, but look so different! Thanks so much for stopping by! Capricorn Girl cards with Erica

Hi guys! It's Erica back on the Picket Fence Studios blog with a couple of cards, using the new Capricorn Girl stamp and diecut. There are currently four girls in the Horoscope girl range and the idea is to have all of the star signs eventually. I'm waiting for the Taurus Girl, as a May birthday gal. Hint, hint, lol! I have stamped the Capricorn Girl with Black Hybrid Ink on Copic friendly paper, with the help of a MISTI. I have then coloured them both up with LOADS of Copics, to get a couple of different looks. One girl got a silver hair look, and the other girl got turquoise hair. Skin and makeup wise, they ended up quite similar. I'm experimenting a little with skin and makeup colouring, and currently I'm quite into contouring to bring the face to life. Sometimes it's a bit over the top, and other times it's more subtle. I definitely need to practice more though, so please be kind. When the colouring was done, I used the coordinating diecut on the images and put those aside while I worked on the rest of the cards. Directly on a card base I have ink blended a background in a rainbow look, through the Details Of A Wing stencil. I've used a range of Life Changing Blender Brushes and a light hand to get a soft look. This card was turned into a birthday card with the help of the Happy Birthday Word Topper die, and I stamped up 'I hope you have a a fantastic day' with Black Hybrid ink on top. This is from the Word Topper Subtitles stamp set. For the second card, I experimented with the new Paper Glitz over the Details Of A Wing stencil and Centre Flower stencil. On a blue card stock panel, I used the Details Of A Wing stencil with the Navy Wingtip Paper Glitz. With Silver Bells Paper Glaze and the Centre Flower stencil, I used them on white card stock, and it looks AHHH-mazing! That mica and glitter are so gorgeous. It came through so perfect, and you don't need much! Don't go nuts, and slap on half a jar. You only need a little bit as it's so opaque. When these were dry I puzzled a little back and forth, and the Silver Bells piece was trimmed down a little and I tried it with a black card base. That looked so good, and I also stamped up the sentiment from the Capricorn Girl on a strip of card stock, added that and a few Moon Shade gems. This colour combo made her eyes pop like crazy and I love that! I used the same pieces on the blue background, and this made her hair kind of glow, which was unexpected. I love this with card making. You have a plan, you execute that plan (usually with a few detours, if you craft like I do) and then things do not end up like you think, but better! Never stop experimenting with your Cardmaking and crafting, you never know what you might end up with. So, full disclosure, I didn't glue these pieces together, because I still wasn't sure I was ready to. I puzzled them together back and forth, took pictures and then fiddled some more. They still are not fully put together, but who knows, maybe soon I will find that bit that makes it all click into place. The rainbow one was easy peasy, that one was done in like an hour. NO hesitation at all, I knew exactly how I wanted that one. Funny that, isn't it? Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and the card, as well as the photos of the puzzled together ones. If you aren't sure what you want for your card, don't commit by glueing anything down. Walk away for a bit and come back with fresh eyes another day. I decided she needed a little pizazz, so I added some of the new Silver Bells Paper Glitz to her horns, her eyelids and her earrings. I also mixed some with water and splattered it in the background. Scene Cards with Larisa

Hello, Larisa here and today I'm sharing a couple of scene cards featuring the New Release! For my first card, I paired the NEW Lots of Christmas Cheer Stamp Set with the NEW Slim Line Our Town Cover Plate Die. To begin, I started with the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System and used it to cut a piece of white card stock and a red scalloped piece to mat behind it. Using my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I added some blue distress ink to the background. Then I die cut a piece of black card stock with the Our Town Cover Plate Die. I adhered that to the center of my background piece. Then I tore a piece of white card stock and added that just under the town to mimic the look of snow. I stamped out the grouped animal image, colored it using Copic Markers and cut it out using the coordinating die. Using foam tape, I added it to the right side of the card. On the left side, I stamped my sentiment in black ink. For the final touch, I added several tiny snowflakes from the NEW Santa Is Here Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert. My next card is a fun little back-to-school scene that features two of the little cuties from the NEW Your Next Book Dear Stamp Set. To create this card, I stamped out the NEW Medley of Fall Collage Stamp in red ink on orange paper. Then I trimmed that into a square. Across the bottom, I added a skinny piece of grey card stock. On top of that some die cut grass. Then I stamped out my images, colored them up with Copics, and cut them out using the coordinating dies. Rainbow Christmas card with Michelle

Eiko Girl

Hello! Larisa here and today, I'm bringing you a bright and colorful card featuring the Beautiful Girl Eiko Girl Clear Stamp Set! To create my card, I started with some colorful patterned paper in my stash and trimmed it to fit the front of my A2 sized card panel. Then I stamped out the BUZZ 4x4 Seamless Stamp, colored it with Copics, and die cut it using a large circle die in my stash. I layered that on top of a bright blue doily and adhered them both to the center of my card. Next, I stamped out the Eiko Girl image, colored her with Copics, and cut her out using the coordinating die. Using foam tape, I added her to the center of the card and layered up some patterned paper strips behind her. A big bold sentiment across the center finished it off. I thought I'd drop by to say Croak with Karen

Hello crafty friends! Today I'm sharing this slimline card featuring the new Cattails Die, Pond Scenery Stamp and dies, Drop by to Say Bye Croak Stamp and dies and Slimline Trees Silhouette Cover Plate Die. Let's start this tutorial! I die cut a piece of cardstock using the Slim Line Die Cutting System and applied ink using the Life Changing Blender Brushes and once it was dry I adhered a slimline folded card base at the back. Then, I stamped the images from Drop by to Say Bye Croak Stamp and Pond Scenery Stamps using Gingerbread hybrid ink from Scrapbook.com and I colored them with Copic markers. I die cut these images using the coordinating dies. Additionally, I die cut the Cattails Die out of white cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. Next, I stamped the sentiment using Black hybrid ink from Picket Fence Studios on my background panel. Also, I placed the Cattails and the Pond Scenery image die cuts previously colored on the panel as well using glue. Finally, I die cut the Trees Silhouette Cover Plate three times to create more dimension and glued them one on top of each other. I applied inks to the cover plate using the Life Changing Blender Brushes and placed it on top of my background panel, then I added the frogs around and this slimline card was finished. Libra Girl with Larisa

Hello! Today, I'm sharing a fun zodiac card! This is Libra Girl. As a libra myself, I knew I can to create a card with her. To begin, I started with a piece of white card stock and trimmed it to fit my A2 sized card. Then I used the middle tone of the NEW Paper Glaze Ombre Sky Blues to create a beautiful stenciled design across the paper. I let that dry for an hour or so and worked on my stamped image. I colored her up with Copics, and die cut the image using a large circle die in my stash. Then I placed it on top of my stenciled design and added a stamped sentiment across the bottom.
