Southern Magnolias card

by Silvana Chambon on Jan 03 2025
Hello, friends, and Happy New Year! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia. My first card for 2025 is the first one I´ll send out this year and is dedicated to a beloved friend. I thought the Southern Magnolias stamp designed by the talented Kelly Taylor was perfect because my IG handle is Casa Magnolia, I mean, it was just for me, right? So let´s see how I did it!  As I said, my card features the new Southern Magnolias stamp. It´s a background stamp full of details but perfect for coloring. I decided to leave it in black, so I stamped with black ink and then I stamped again with embossing ink and put some clear embossing powder.   I painted the flower´s background with the new Paper Splatter Opaque Copper which is an amazing color. I love the Paper Splatters because they have a lot of shine in the formula and the look is amazing. After all the background was dried I cut it with the new Beyond Basics: A2 Stamp Cover Plate die with Postmark Dies.Such a fun and versatile die! You need it in your stash, because it´s a true cardmaking basic.  I glued the background over an A2 black cardstock base which gives it a lot of contrast.   I stamped some of the sentiments from the Graceful Magnolias stamp set onto a black cardstock with embossing ink and white embossing powder. I cut them with the coordinating dies and glued them with foam tape.  And that´s my completed card! I love the shine and contrast of it and I hope my friend will love it too.  Thank you so much for stoping by the blog today. Have a fantastic year! See you in my next post, Silvana.

Gray skies bring sunny days card

by Silvana Chambon on Dec 11 2024
Hello, friends! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia. Today, I bring a very sweet card with a message to lift anyone's spirits.  The card features the new Peach and Piper: Bad Weather Friends stamp and coordinating die. The sweetest stamp set! The two friends are sharing an umbrella under a stormy sky. The look of this stormy background was made with a mix of products. For the clouds, I used the new Clouds on the Horizon stamp stamped with a dark blue ink. I blended the same ink with a Life changing blender brush for a softer look. I splattered a few drops of water onto the paper and drops of Paper Splatter Opaque white.  For the grass I used the Tall Grass die.  After the background was done, I cut it with the smallest arch die in the Basic Diecutting Set 1. For the white border, I cut two arch dies together, from the same set. For the blue background I used the A2 Basket Weave Cover Plate die to give it a little more interest.  I Stamped with black ink the sentiment and to finish it up I used some sequins from the new On a midnight dream  Sequin mix.  And that´s my completed card! I hope you like it as much as I did.  Thank you so much for stoping by the blog today.  Have an amazing day. See you in my next post. Silvana.

Soft landings in your future card

by Silvana Chambon on Dec 03 2024
Hello, friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana from Casa Magnolia and today I want to share with you a colorful card made with some of the new products from the last release.  The colorful background was made with the new Heat wave Sun A2 stencil. First I inkblended some Distress Oxides inks and then I applied some Paper Glitz Sparkle over. The result is this colorful and shiny background, where the inks blend again when you put the Paper Glitz, There are no harsh lines in the blending.  The card also features the new Soft Landings stamp set which has these cute hot air balloons that I colored to match the background. I cut them with the coordinating die and added some details with a  white gel pen too.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I stamped it with embossing ink over my favorite black cardstock and put some white detail embossing powder.  And that´s my completed card! I love the shiny colorful background and I have the right person to give it to whom I think is gonna love it!  Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. See you in my next post.  Have a fantastic and crafty day. Silvana

Friend, life is better with you card

by Silvana Chambon on Nov 11 2024
Hello, crafty friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia  and I have a cute card for a friend today with some of the last release's products.  This card features the new Friend Stacked word die which comes with two dies: the word and the "shadow". This kind of dies are great for making a lot of techniques. In this case I used a silver cardstock for the word and vellum for the shadow, This allows to smooth the background but you can still see it through the vellum. To give dimension I cut four times the word friend in white cardstock and stacked them together and glued them behind the vellum.  The background was made with one of the best dies ever. It´s called Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangles and Cover Plates dies and it has rectangles in different sizes that fit perfect in an A2 card. You'll not have to measure again to align your backgrounds! And it also comes with three different cover plates dies that will give you plenty of options to experiment and play. I needed some details for this card and I thought the Animal Critters: Crafty Foxes stamp set would be great for this card. I chose two of those adorable and cute foxes to add and the sentiment comes from the set too. I stamped in black cardstock with embossing ink and put some white embossing powder over it. And that's my completed card for today! I hope you liked it and give it a try!  Thank you for stoping by the blog today and see you in my next post. Have a nice week!   Silvana.

A thank you note for a friend

by Silvana Chambon on Oct 30 2024
Hello, friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! I´m Silvana from Casa Magnolia and today I´ve got a simple but yet beautiful thank you card for a friend.  The october release brought many notebook-related products, and I thought it could be fun to make a card like the notes we used to pass secretly in school. The card features the new A2 Marble Notebook Cover Stamp on the background which I stamped with the Black Hybrid ink pad twice and a third time with embossing ink and clear embossing powder. I wanted that extra shine the embossing powder gives for my background.  The "piece of paper" of my note is a new die called A2 Ripped Notebook Cover plate die which I loved because it has the page details, like the torn edge or the embossed writing lines.  For the caps letters in the note, I used the Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die which comes with an alphabet die. I cut the letters in white cardstock and for the coloring I placed them on a Paper Inking Palette and used Distress Oxide inks with Paper pouncers. The easiest way to have the colors you want without using colored cardstock.  The "my friend" and "thank you" stamps come from the new Beauty found in a vase stamp set stamped with the same black ink.  And that´s my completed card! I know exactly who I’m going to give this card to, which is what always helps me when creating cards: thinking about who the recipient might be.  I hope you liked it and inspires you to send a secret note to a friend too.  Thank you so much for stoping by the blog today.  See you in my next post. Have a fantastic week! Silvana.

Graceful Magnolias Card

by Silvana Chambon on Oct 22 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios´blog! It´s Silvana here and today I want to share with you a very special card to me.  As you may know my Instagram handle is Casa Magnolia because I live in a house with a big Magnolia tree on the front that blooms in spring with this pinkish flowers so beautiful. So, everytime a company comes with a magnolia stamp, I buy it because it fills me with joy trying to reproduce the color in the flowers all year round. When I saw the lovely and beautiful Graceful Magnolias stamp set from PFS and designed by Kelly Taylor I was thrilled! I knew that I had to have it and make a lovely card with it. To color the flowers I used Distress oxide inks; the same colors I used in the blended backgroound. It was a mix of Tattered Rose, Victorian Velvet and Kitsch Flamingo. For the leaves, I used some watercolor pencils.  As I mentioned before, I used the same Distress Oxide colors to ink blend a part of an A2 panel. In the other background part I used the new A2 Basket Weave Cover Plate Die. Very versatile die for backgrounds. To give more interest I put some Opaque white Paper Splatter.  I used one of the sentiments the stamp set comes with. I heat embossing it over black cardstock and cut it with the coordinating die.  The finishing touch were the gems from the new Thunderstorm Gem mix.  And that completes my card. I hope you like it as much as I did. This stamp set really filled me with gratitude and joy.  Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. Have an amazing day and happy crafting! Silvana.

Winter Blooms Shaker Card

by Silvana Chambon on Oct 09 2024
Hello, friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! I´m Silvana from Casa Magnolia and today I have a shaker card to share with you with some of September´s new products.  This cards features the new Winter Blooms stamp set and coordinating die. It´s a beautiful stamp, with this flowery frame and an additional bouquet. You can also purchase it in bundle. I decided to color it in traditional red and green, to give it the festive look.  For the background, I chose a cover plate to give some interest to it. I used the A2 Pierced Blanket cover plate die .  I added a piece of acetate to the frame and then put some Extra wide foam to give the height for the shaker. Then, I used the new Oh, What Fun sequin mix for the filling.  The coordinating die has a lot of word dies. I chose the traditional "Happy Holidays" in black cardstock for the sentiment. I think this card screams Christmas and it turned out so well. The stamp design is from the amazing Kelly Taylor and I think it´s gorgeous, like all she does!  I hope you enjoyed the post today. Thank you so much for stopping by.  Have an amazing day and happy crafting! Silvana.

Cheerful Winter Gnomes card set

by Silvana Chambon on Sep 30 2024
Hello, friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia and today I wanted to share with you the cards from one playful session with a lot of the new products from the last release. I had so much fun with these cards, specially making the background. But let´s see the cards finished:  Both cards have these bright and very colorful backgrounds which I loved. They were made with Paper Splatter Watercolors and flat brushes. Just put two drops of liquid watercolor per color. Be careful when blending one color with another, so you don't saturate the lighter color with the darker one. I used watercolor paper for these backgrounds.  For this background I used Liquid Pecan Tart Brown, Liquid Cranberry Red and Liquid Candy Cane red Paper Splatters Watercolors. The paper Splatters have this shine in it that makes them beautiful and gives them a holiday look. To add more interest to it, I dry embossed the new A Snowy Breeze 6x8 stencil and used some Liquid Gold Paper Splatter watercolor with a fan brush. For the other card I used the Liquid Holly Leaf green and Liquid Candy Cane red Paper Splatters Watercolors. The color that appears when these two meet it´s a deep violet shade. You need to be extra careful here, as what you're aiming for is for the green and red to prevail over the third color that appears.  For this background I opted to used the Chistmas Tree Farm 6x8 Stencil with  Arctic Fox Paper Glaze Luxe. This card has a more traditional color scheme so I thought the trees were perfect.  Let´s talk about these cute gnomes. This is the Cheerful Winter Gnomes stamp set. You can also find the coordinating die or purchase it in bundle. I stamped with Black Hybrid ink and then added a layer of embossing ink and clear embossing powder. I used the same Paper Splatter Watercolors of the background to color each gnome. For the beard and nose I chose Copic markers colors.  To finish the cards I stamped the different sentiments that come with the stamp set with embossing ink and white embossing powder over a black cardstock.  I had some much fun with this two cards! I hope you enjoyed the blog post and give these cards a try!   Thanks for stopping by. Have a fantastic week.  Silvana

Reindeer at Play Interactive card

by Silvana Chambon on Sep 23 2024
Hello, friends, and welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana here and today I want to share with you an interactive card made with some of the new stamps from the September release.  Here´s the completed card: The card shows a slimline scene made with the new Reindeer at play stamp set. I used some older stamps sets like the Scene building: Winter Wonderland trees for the pines and Frolicking winter friends for the snow. Also, I used some Paper splatter for the snow in the sky: the Opaque White and the Liquid White Snowflake .  But the scene is "hidden" so you have to pull out the little tab on the right to see it in full like the photo. You can watch a short video in my Instagram page.  It´s a tricky mechanism which I learned in a scrapbook class meant to be in an album page, but I thought inmediately in a card with it. And I think it works very well! I used the Slimline Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles and Alpha Diecutting system  to make the card background and also the card base: I used the biggest scalloped rectangle and folded it at the middle. The result is an 4 1/4 x 3 1/2" card base. To make the mechanism I used the Happy Gingham Fabulously Glossy Cardstock.  To finish the card I stamped one of the sentiments on black cardstock with embossing ink and white embossing powder. I put a baker´s twine to add an extra detail.  This card has a lot of work and planning: you need to measure exactly and plan where to stamp the images so they don´t get cut in the middle. I did a lot of masking for the scene too that turned out very well.  I hope you liked this card and it inspires you to seek for new alternatives for your interactive cards.  Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. See you in my next post. Have a fantastic week! Silvana

Be my Boo? Shaker Elements

by Silvana Chambon on Sep 11 2024
Hi, friends! Welcome to the Picket Fence Studios´ blog! I´m Silvana from Casa Magnolia and today I bring you a fun "partial" shaker card for this Halloween season.  I used a lot of the last release products, but also others from previous ones. The result is a very interesting and fun card, with a lot of details to look for. So let´s get started! The card features the new Bee my boo? stamp set. It has a lot of cute ghost images, and I chose a few to color and set aside to decide which ones I´ll use later. Other new product you can find here is the Haunted Halloween Gingham Fabulously glossy cardstock.  I diecut it with the A2 saying Hello Cover plate die. This die cuts the little rectangles from the inside too, but I decided that I wanted to make some of them like mini shakers, so I didn´t use them all.  The reason for this was that the gingham pattern didn’t allow the sequin mix to be seen properly. So I made a background with white cardstock, on which I put some Opaque Black Paper Splatter in some areas and used the Spider Menagerie 6x8 stencil in others, taking into account that those areas would be visible through the rectangles. Then I made the shakers: I put acetate in some of the rectangles and then put some foam tape under all the front piece. I filled the little shakers with the Hi, Boo! Sequin mix  and glued the white background with the splatter.  After that I started to assemble the last pieces. I glued some of the gingham rectangles in three places. I put the ghosts over the gingham and the stenciled areas. I cut some bats form the Trick or Treat Halloween word set die  with a foiled black paper and added them in some areas. I leave the center for the sentiment which I made from the same stamp set with white embossing powder over a black cardstock.  I finished the card by making some details with a white gel pen, in this case the Karin Decogel Pen. And that´s it! It´s a card with a little bit of work, but totally worth it! The little shakers add extra fun to the ghosts stamp.  I hope you enjoyed it and try your own "partial" shakers! See you in my next post. Have a fantastic day! Silvana.

Trick or treat Hallowen card

by Silvana Chambon on Aug 29 2024
Hello, friends! Welcome to Picket Fence Studios´blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia  and today I want to share with you a fun and easy Halloween card made with some of the new products from the last release.   The card features the new Trick or Treat Halloween word die set which has the phrase "trick or treat" "Halloween" word and three different sized bats. I cut two times the phrase with white heavy cardstock and stack them together. For the top layer, I foiled a piece of Solid Black Fabulous Foiling Toner Cardstock  with the Silver Strobe Lights Fabulous Foiling Toner . I cut the bats in black cardstock and set all aside.  I made the background with alcohol inks and yupo paper. I stamped the new Cheers, witches stamp with embossing ink and black embossing powder.  I know that yupo is not supposed to be heated, because it can curl if you over heat it because it´s plastic, but you can heat embossing over it. You need to be careful and not leave the heat gun in the same spot for too long or get it too close to the paper. It will get more time but it´s doable.  I assembled the card over an A2 card base, adding some black sequins for embellish. It´s a simple card but the alcohol ink background and the sparkle of the foiling make it stands and make it a fun halloween card.  I hope you like it and gives you an idea to your next Halloween card.  See you in my next blog post.  Have a fantastic day! Silvana.

A sweet Halloween card

by Silvana Chambon on Aug 12 2024
Hello, friends! It´s Silvana from Casa Magnolia here and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios´ blog! Today I want to share with you a Halloween card made with a sweet die from the last release. It´s called Nibbles the Candy ghost die and it´s so cute!!! The die is like a cover die where you have all the pieces in one plate die. So, you can die cut once and color every piece with ink and the Pint sized paper Pouncers for example, but I decided I was going to use Paper Glaze for extra color and shine. So I cut four pieces of lightweight cardstock and spread over every piece a light and even amount of Paper Glaze in Marigold Orange, Agapanthus Purple and Daffodil Yellow colors. The remaining piece was made with Paper Glaze Luxe: Twinkle Lights . After all the pieces were dried, I cut them and put them aside as I started working on the background. For the bakground I used the new Flowing 6x8 stencil with a grey ink and some drops of the new Paper Splatter Opaque Black. I cut the background in a piece of 3"x4 1/4" and glued it in the middle of a top folding card base. I put a thin strip of black cardstock in both ends to add contrast and a little detail. Then I started to assemble the little ghost and the rest from the different color pieces that I´ve already made.  For the sentiment I cut extra layers of a white cardstock and stack and glued them together for dimension. There are some details made with black cardstock, like the bats, the eyes and the hat base.    And that´s my little sweet ghost card! I´m very pleased with the result, specially with the colors that the Paper Glazes give to the card, bright and shiny.  I hope you liked it and try your own version.  Thank you so much for stopping by. See you in my next post. Have a wonderful day! Silvana.

ICE CREAM AND POPSICLES CARDS

by Silvana Chambon on Jul 15 2024
Hi, everyone! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia  and I´m so happy to be in the Picket Fence Studios´ blog today.  Summertime has arrived and that means it´s ice cream season! I know that for those of us who love ice cream, all year round is ice cream season. But on hot summer days, they are much more enjoyable, don´t you agree? And, as the sentiment says, "Ice cream makes everything better".  I created two cards in different colors but with the same design:  I made the background with the new Wreath building: Ice cream you scream stamp set. I used the Stampwheel to create a repetitive pattern. For the pink card I used a black pigment ink and used an embossing powder with pink speckles, that dries clear but leaves the color. For the lilac card I stamped everytime with a different ink.  I thought it would be fun to make a popsicle for the sentiment. So, I used an oval die from the Basic Die cutting Set 1 with a pink cardstock and cut the bottom part, so the shape ressembles a popsicle. I stamped the sentiment from the Ice cream set with embossing ink and put over some white embossing powder.  I found a popsicle wooden stick and cut it in half to use it on the two cards. I glued it behind my popsicle shape.  To assemble the card I cut the background 3/8" smaller than an A2 card, put a mat slightly bigger behind with the same pink cardstock and tape it over a light kraft cardstock card base with foam tape. I glued the popsicle sentiment over. To finish it up I added some embellishments from the Bee My Friend sequin mix plus.  And that´s my card! The lilac one doesn´t have the embellishments, but the process was the same.  I hope you like these cards and that you find the opportunity to create your own and give it to an ice cream lover. I leave you at the bottom the list of products in case you need some of them.  Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today and I hope you´re enjoying the summertime.  Se you in my next post.  Silvana.

Blow out the candles interactive card

by Silvana Chambon on Jul 01 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia and today I want to share with you a fun and interactive card made with some of the new products from the June release.  This card has a little story behind: this year I'm turning 40, and I have a group of childhood friends who will also turn 40, so I found myself needing to start creating several cards to have. This is a special age milestone and I thought It could be fun to make special cards for this.  Let´s talk about the card! It has a birthday gift box on the front but behind are the candles hidden. On the top you can see a tab that when you pull it, you´ll reveal the candles.  For the background I cut a light pink color cardstock in an A2 size panel and used the Sprinkles 6x8 Layering Stencil set changing colors in each layer. The present box is from the lovely Surprise! It´s your day stamp set designed by Kelly Taylor. I stamped it over the background to have it as a guide, and I stamped it again over a piece of paper, colored it and cut it in two: the inside and back of the card and the front. I glued the back piece over the stamped box on the background and cut a slit where the pull mechanism will be.  The 40 candles are from the new set Blow out the candles which has a coordinating die too. I stamped with embossing ink and put gold embossing powder over and set it. With some acetate I made the piece that holds the candles and glued them with some double sided tape. The front of the box was poped up with foam tape giving the candles room to slide under.  I put the pull tab under the background and put some foam tape all over the background (not over the tab´s space) and glued it onto an A2 card base.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and also was made with the embossing technique.  To finish it up, I added some sequins from the Iridiscent Moonshine Sequin Mix. And that´s it! You can visit my Instagram post to see the card in action, if you like. I know there are some good tutorials on Youtube to make this kind of cards, so you can find some of them there.  I hope you liked this card and it inspires you to make one for a special ocassion. Have a fantastic week and happy crafting! See you on my next blog post.  Silvana.

Dance to the rhythm of the sea card

by Silvana Chambon on May 08 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! I´m Silvana and today I´d like to share an inspiration card for you made with some of the last release´s products.  This card features the new Dear Summer Loving stamp. It´s super cute and fits perfectly in an A2 card. I colored with some Copic markers and cut it with the coordinating die. The last thing I did was putting little white gel pen details to highlight some parts.  For the background I made some ink smooshing with Distress Oxide inks over a watercolour paper. I let it dry and then I used the Inner Glow A2 Stencil with the new Sea Glass Blue Paper Glaze Glass. The colour is subtle and translucient but adds some shine and helps to emphasize how much fun she is having in the sea, don't you think? When I first saw the stamp set, I inmediately thought that she was dancing in the sea with her inflatable flamingo. So, I decided to use one of the sentiments from the new Signature Quotes: the Sea that fitted perfectly. I stamped it onto a black cardstock with Versamrk ink and some white embossing powder and heated it. I cut it with the coordinating die anf put some black foam tape under to give some dimension. And that´s it!  I think this card turned out very well and it´s perfect for any sea lover who enjoys a good day in the beach.  Thank you so much for being here and read the blog post. I leave you at the end the supply list for easy reaching.  I hope you have an amazing day! See you on my next post. Silvana.

Find me by the sea slimline infinity shaker

by Silvana Chambon on Apr 30 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here and today I´m sharing with you an infinity slimline shaker card with some of the last release products. As you may know, an infinity shaker it´s an edge to edge shaker card or a full panel shaker. So let´s see how to make it! Let´s start by the background. I used the Slimline scene Building: Seashore Cover Plate Die  to make with but I cut it three times with the different shades of the Fabulous Foiling Toner Cardstock Ocean Breeze Blues to make the water. I used a recycled paper cardstock that had some speckles that ressembles sand for the last piece. In a closer photo you will see that I made some "foam" in the lighter shade of blue cardstock. I used Paper Glaze Luxe Arctic Fox and apllied it with my finger for that.  I glued the different pieces onto a slimline size panel. After that I cut a piece of Shaker sheets half an inch bigger than the background and glued it on the back leaving one side open to pour the shaker fill which was the new Sequin Mix Island Blues.  I love the iridiscent colors and the perfect mix of sequins. It was perfect for this shaker.  I glued the last part of the shaker sheet to seal and put all the background over a slimine size card base.  For the sentiment I used the new Find me by the sea Word Die Set made this way: for the SEA I put some of the new Paper Glaze Glass Sea Glass Coral onto a light weight cardstock and waited until It was completely dry. This new Paper Glaze has a translucent look, but over a white cardstock looks amazing. For the rest of the sentiment I foiled a piece of the Fabulous Foiling cardstock with Fabulous Toner Foil in Metallic Silver  and cut it. I arranged the sentiment on the left side of the card so this will let the background and the sequins show.  And that´s it! Despite using many products, the card is easy to  make and looks great. I hope you can give it a try and let me know if you like it.  You can follow me on my IG: @casamagnolia_nh where I post the majority of my cards or you can find me on my website, where I write english/ spanish posts.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  See you on my next post! Have a happy week and happy creations! Silvana.
