Christmas Poinsettia Star with Ceal

by Ceal Pritchett on Dec 23 2020
Hello Everyone! It's Ceal, here. Today I am sharing a card made using one of my all time favorite Christmas stamps, Christmas Poinsettia Star.  I love this large poinsettia image. It's so versatile as to how you can color it or you don't even have to color it. It's gorgeous when embossed in gold, makes such an elegant  Christmas card.  To create this card I chose to use the Watercolor Wednesday Challenge at Splitcoaststampers last week, watercolor resist technique. I stamped the image in embossing ink and embossed it with white embossing powder and then added some  Infusions watercolor powder by Paper Artsy and spritzed with water.  To finish the card I added a sentiment from the Fancy Christmas Greetings set  that is embossed with Metalline Himalayan Musk by WOW  and cut it out with the Coordinating Die.

Burst Of Sun Stencil Fun with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Dec 22 2020
Hi guys!  It's Erica back on the Picket Fence Studios blog for the last time of 2020. It's been an absolutely dreadful year, and this month has been extra testing for my family, as we lost our matriarch, my mother-in-law, at the beginning of it.  Rather than dwell on all the misery, I'm going to try and bring some cheer with the Burst Of Sun Stencil with lots of colour and shimmer.  My first card was done by ink blending a panel with the Burst Of Sun Stencil and an array of Life Changing Blender Brushes and Distress Oxide inks, in a rainbow look. In the middle, I stamped up the HB2U from Do Good Recklessly with Black Hybrid Ink. I also added LOTS of bling from the Gin & Tonic sequin mix, and I adhered these to the card with Glossy Accent.  The second card is done in a quite dramatic look. Golden Rose Paper Glaze on black card stock using the Burst Of Sun Stencil! Ooooooh, I love the drama of this!  Apart from the drying of the Paper Glaze, which admittedly doesn't take long either, this is a relatively quick card. It's finished off with the big mic and a sentiment from the Do Good Recklessly stamp set. Both are heat embossed in gold, the sentiment on black card stock and the microphone on grey card stock.  The final card is a labour of love for sure, and is a twist of the first card, only using Paper Glazes instead of inks over the Burst Of Sun Stencil!  I used the first card as a colour reference wheel and mixed a few in order to achieve the colours to match as close as possible. The colours I used are Daffodil Yellow, Marigold Orange, Peony Pink, Agapantha Purple, Cornflower Blue, Jade Vine, Succulent Green and Leaf Green. In order to make the extra colours, I mixed Daffodil Yellow and Leaf Green to make the Twisted Citron part. To get the Wild Honey part I used Daffodil Yellow and a little bit of Peony Pink. To make the Carved Pumpkin look I used Daffodil Yellow and Marigold Orange. Cornflower Blue and Agapantha Purple were mixed to create the Blueprint Sketch look.  When this Burst Of Sun background was dry, it was finished with the same HB2U sentiment, only heat embossed in white on black card stock. I cut this out using a circle from the Slim Line Diecutting System, as well as another 4, layered these up and adhered to the card.  Well, that is it from me for today and this year! I hope you loved these cards and got inspired to get crafty today.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Evergreens Stencil with Judy

Today I am excited to show one of my favorite stencils: Evergreens. I love the shape and height of the trees - perfect for a snowy winter scene! I used my Blender Brushes and my MAKE ART STAY-tion (Wendy Vecchi) to blend my colors around the trees. I chose three colors of Distress Oxides for my background: Spun Sugar, Dusty Concord and Salty Ocean. I then spritzed with a fine mist sprayer for some snow effect in the background. I pounced Versamark ink along the bottom with a sponge, and embossed with Vanilla Ice Embossing Powder (Sparkle N Sprinkle - retired) to give the effect of snow. The sentiment (VersaFine Clair Nocturne) is from Baby It's Cold Outside stamp set. I added a few sequins from the Gin and Tonic Collection for additional sparkle. Thanks for stopping by today! I have a pretty-in-pink card to share today! I used the Slimline Diecutting system to create the card base and the pink panel, then I added some pink stenciling to the pink panel. I stamped and cut out a heap of flowers and leaves, coloured them with pink, purple and pale green Copic markers, and arranged them onto the card front. I then picked them all up with some Press And Seal to make adhering them in the right places easier. I finished with some sequins and a white embossed sentiment on a scrap of purple cardstock.   Thanks for visiting :)

Bright and Colorful Scene Cards with Larisa

Hello!  Larisa here and today, I have two very bright and very colorful scene cards to share with you!  For my first card, I paired A Walk in the Park with Bugville.  I stamped out my park scene and masked it off.  Then I stamped Bugville in the background.  I colored up the scene with copics and trimmed it to fit my A2 size card.  Then I stenciled in my sun with distress inks.  A very vibrant way to say, "hello!" For my second card, I used the Slimline Die cutting system and cut 2 birch tree panel from the center.  Then I stenciled in some clouds and stamped my grass on a separate piece of paper.  I trimmed that to fit behind my card panel and adhered the two pieces together.  Then I mounted that on a piece of teal card stock.  I stamped out my flower and leaf images on Copic-friendly card stock and colored them up.  Then I die cut them out using the coordinating dies and popped them on top of my card front.  The "happy birthday" sentiment across the top finishes it off.   Products Used: A Walk in the Park Clear Stamp A Walk in the Park Coordinating Die Corner Sun Stencil  Slimline Cloud Coverage Stencil Black Hybrid Ink Life Changing Blender Brushes Slim Line Die Cutting System Bugville Clear Stamp Set A2 Tall Grass and Waves with Tiles and Wood Floors Leaves for Flowers Clear Stamp Set Leaves for Flowers Coordinating Dies Beautiful Girl Flowers Beautiful Girl Flowers Coordinating Die Gin and Tonic Sequin Mix Do Good Recklessly Clear Stamp Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Happy Happy Monday! And happy release day for our fun December products! Before you start your shopping though, I wanted to share with you my favorite stamp set from this release. It's called Do Good Recklessly and here is a look: You see, I retired from the radio business, so when I saw this microphone, I gasped and knew immediately I would be using this set. And those sentiments! Swoon!! I had to use a bunch of them for this happy birthday card. I used the Slim Line Waves stencil to create my colorful background and then put everything together using the Slim Line Die Cutting System. I've linked below the products I used today as well as the entire release...so happy shopping! Susie Created 4 Creativity

Hello, everyone!  I hope you had a great week and now it's time to celebrate Friday!  I think Alice is delighted that it's Friday and she has started celebrating by listening to her favorite mix!  I created an interesting background with the Geo Squares Stencil and LC Blender Brushes.  I colored Alice then I used her Coordinating Die to cut her out.  Next, I stamped a flower and leaves from Beautiful Girl Flowers and die cut them with Coordinating Dies.  I really like PFS Coordinating dies because they save me so much time when creating cards AND they are sold already separated, no metal cutters required!  You know, I love PFS Sequins so I sprinkled a bit of Razzle Dazzle and that was it!  Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you feel inspired to create something this weekend! Slimlines and Gel Press with Ceal

by Ceal Pritchett on Dec 02 2020
Hey Y'all! It's Ceal and today I am sharing some slimline cards that uses the Slim Line Die Cutting System along with the Gel Press. Can you believe that it is December already? I have to get moving on my Christmas cards so I made 4 using this technique that I learned from Lydia.  To create these cards, I cut out some of the snowflakes from the Winter Snowflakes die set, the Lydia snowflake die and the LaWanda snowflake dies out of copy paper. I places some acrylic paint on the Gel Press and brayered over it. Next I placed the snowflakes down on top of the paint and placed the sheet of copy paper over it and gently rubbed over the entire Gel Press. I lifted the copy paper for the print and then removed the snowflakes so I could reuse them.  The paint colors I used on the blue were Peacock, Sky and Turquoise all by Dina Wakley.  The paint colors I used on the green card were Peacock and Lemon and when I ran the brayer over them it became green. The last two cards I used the holy trinity as lydia refers to it, Magenta, Lemon and Turquoise.  On every card I used the large and smaller rectangle die from the Slim Line Die Cutting System. I love how using your dies as stencils and masks as I have on my cards, stretches your dies.    I hope you have enjoyed this post and if you don't have a Gel Press, that you would invest in one. they are so fun!    Below you will find links to the products used. Paper Glaze Extravaganza with Erica!

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Dec 01 2020
Hi guys! Today's blog post is a bit of an epic, I'm not gonna lie. I'm showing a technique that I like to call Paper Glaze Printing. It's sort of like Gel Printing but with paper, stencils and Paper Glaze... I'll explain it, or you could hop on over to the Picket Fence Studios YouTube channel and have a look when the video goes up instead. I created a video for this blog post as well, so you can actually see the technique in action.  You start out by making sure you have plenty of card stock on hand, as you need to work quickly with Paper Glaze. Plenty of tools and kitchen roll are good to have too.  Start by adding your choice of colours through a stencil as you normally would. Before removing the stencil, you place a piece of card stock on top of it and press down firmly, whilst taking care to not move the card stock too much. Then remove the card stock, and then swiftly remove the stencil you have used too. Ta-da! Two for one! If you use the length of the stencil, 4"x10" you will have plenty of area to choose which bit to cut out with the Slim Line Diecutting System for your cards. With some of these prints, they are not going to be perfect or maybe even that pretty, but don't throw them away! Here is a close up on one of the prints made with the Slim Line Broken Fence Stencil and Paper Glaze in Snowdrop White, Jade Vine and Black Pansy. I love that there is three different textures on this one panel!  It's great to have some of these for when you use diecuts and want a bit of texture or colour on them. Like I've done here, and used the Snowflake Lydia on some of the ones from the photo with the three panels.  That colour and texture really take your projects up a notch, and the best part is that every single one is going to be totally unique.  I used three of the snowflake dies for a wintery card. First, I made a background by smearing Snowdrop White Paper Glaze on white card stock. When that was dry, I used the smallest rectangle from the Slim Line Diecutting System to cut it out. This I added to a white card base and then I glued down the snowflakes with some glittery Nuvo Drops. I used the same Nuvo Drops to create lots of snow flurries around the snowflakes. Clearly this card didn't have enough shimmer and sparkle already, right?  It was finished off with a very slim banner, stamped with 'It's the most wonderful time of the year' in Black Hybrid Ink, This sentiment is from Believe In The Magic. While I had all my Paper Glazes and stencils prepped with Pixie Spray, I kept playing. Why just make one or two when you can make fifty eight, lol! Well, not quite 58 but quite a few. The next couple of panels are made with Black Pansy and Cornflower Blue. Mixed together these two made the most incredible navy blue! I used the Slim Line Broken Fence Stencil for these as well.  I did the same printing technique, and I'm swooning over these results!  This one I haven't used for anything yet, but look at that texture and colour. Isn't it gorgeous?? The printed side came out stunning too, and it looks super shimmery! It seems that when the Paper Glaze is smooshed down, like when it's "printed", it goes even more shimmery than normal.  This is the one I decided to use for my next card, so I got the Slim Line Diecutting System out again and used the smaller rectangle on it. The bigger rectable I used on black card stock and then I layered these up. I decided to use the BFF Elise stamp set and the biggest dog in the Pet All Of The Dogs stamp set. Both of these are coloured in with water colours, but I only got a picture of Elise before I assembled the card. I'm loving the fact that there are coordinated diecuts for these sets. You can find the ones for Pet All Of The Dogs here.  You might notice that I coloured Elise in with a very coordinated colour scheme to the background panel. I was a bit worried at first that she was going to melt into the background but I think it works.  The dog is also very colour coordinated. Maybe she got dressed to match her dog? Let's go with that, rather than the fact I'm mad as a hatter, lol! This card was finished off with a sentiment from Pet All Of The Dogs, again stamped up with Black Hybrid Ink on white card stock.  Now, you didn't think I'd pass up the opportunity to make a rainbow, did you? I am a rainbow-oholic (and I don't want to go to rehab, no, no no!) after all. The OBVIOUS thing to do what to use the Slim Line Rainbow stencil, with... wait for it... a rainbow of Paper Glaze!  I did the same printing thing with this one as well, but you can see that the yellow had dried a bit too much to get a good print. Oh well, it's still gorgeous and I ended up using the printed panel for my last card.  The colours used are, from top to bottom, Leaf Green, Jade Vine, Cornflower Blue, Agapantha purple, Peony Pink and Daffodil Yellow. The texture on those rainbows is incredible, if I may say so myself.  For this card I used an image I had already coloured, You Or Wifi. I did this one with no-line water colouring and then used the coordinating diecut to cut it out.  To cover up the botched yellow part on the background, I adhered it over this and then trimmed off the sides. It didn't go all the way to the bottom so instead of covering up the Paper Glaze background, I stamped up one of the sentiments from the You Or Wifi set on white card stock, and adhered this right along the bottom.  There have been several #Iwishwelivedonadesertedisland kind of days this year, hasn't it? I figured this card could be sent to literally anyone who has experienced 2020.  Well, with that, I am (finally) done for the day. Lots of backgrounds made and three finished cards. All very different but with one common thing: Paper Glaze! I love that stuff. Just in case it wasn't super obvious already, lol! If you do watch the YouTube video, I have another couple of backgrounds done with a SUPER neat trick to create a bit of a Norther Lights look!  Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed this post and got inspired to try this Paper Glaze Printing technique for yourself!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

It's Snowing!

by Judy Rozema on Nov 30 2020
Today I am sharing a very special snowflake - Lydia! Can you all guess who that is named after? It's a beautiful large die, and I had a ton of fun creating with it. The Snowflake Lydia Die is about 4 inches square and perfect to fill up an A2 sized card. For my first card, I chose a Gel Press print that I have had for a long time that I wasn't happy with. It just was, in my opinion, kind of ugly. But as my gel printing mentor, LYDIA, has told me, never throw them away, because you might find a use for it in a way you don't expect. And that's exactly what happened. Here is a photo of the 6x6 print (in bad lighting, of course). I know.....right?  And here is what it looks like as a snowflake. I love it! I used the negative die and paired it with one of the sentiments from Fancy Christmas Sentiments. I added some pretty Purple People Eater Sequins. It looks frosty cool! Next up is the same snowflake - with the addition of the beautiful Winter Snowflakes Dies. I used the Slim Line Die Cutting System to cut my layers, and then centered the evergreen tree die in the center. I cut many snowflakes out of white and kraft cardstock, and layered them up on my main panel, along with the Snowflake Lydia Die.  When I was happy with the arrangement, I added my background sky that I had made from a large panel of Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I ADORE these powders. Think Brushos with an incredible amount of shine. I used Atlantis Burst and Golden Sparkler. I have a Boomerang video on my Instagram account, where you can see the shine. (And I am a handful followers away from 1000! I would love to have you follow me there to get to my goal!). My sentiment ("Christmas Magic is Real") is from Inside Quotes: Christmas. I added my favorite Irish Coffee Sequins for a festive look. Finally, I used just the Winter Snowflakes to create this frosty card of pinks, blues and purples. I used the negative dies as STENCILS (!) and lightly blended different colors of DOX inks with my Life Changing Blender Brushes. I added die cut snowflakes on top out of shimmery cardstock for a winter blizzard, and a sentiment from Inside Quotes: Christmas to complete the look - with of course sparkly sequins: Gin and Tonic! I hope you have checked out the entire November release (because December is coming soon!), and find LOTS to play with! Today is the last day for the 20% Off Sale - don't miss out on all those deals! ESPECIALLY the stamps with free dies and the irregular brushes - a steal! Links to the products I have used today are below. Thanks for stopping by!

Slimline baby card

by Michelle Lupton on Nov 27 2020
I have a baby card to share today using products from the November release at Picket Fence Studios. I started by creating a background with the slimline flowers stencil and my Life Changing Blender Brushes and Distress Oxide inks. I coloured the cute little baby image with a mixture of copic markers and Derwent pencils to give the pale, no-line colouring look. I cut the squares out of a panel of white cardstock to fit over the slimline card base (I made them wonky, mainly because I need practice lining them up nice and straight!) and finished with a little sentiment that I tucked into the bottom edge of one of the square windows. Thanks for visiting :)

Hello crafty friends! Today I’m over Picket Fence Studios blog sharing these two Christmas cards. I’m featuring Baker’s Twine and HO HO HO Stamp set. Also Gin & Tonic and Moonshine Sequin Mixes. Let’s begin! For the first card I started by applying distress oxide inks with the Life Changing Blender Brushes to a panel. I used Aged Mahogany, Festive Berries and Abandoned Coral. Once my panel was dry, I trimmed down the edges and adhered a white folded note card at the back. Then, I stamped this large sentiment from Ho Ho Ho Stamp and I heat embossed it with WOW! Red Glitz Embossing Glitter. I repeated this step three times to get a bit more of dimension on my sentiment. Finally, I stamped the images from the Baker’s Twine Stamp and heat embossed them with WOW! Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder. With a red gel pen I filled in the empty spaces of the twine and lastly, I added a few sequins from Gin & Tonic Sequin Mix. For the second card I also applied distress oxide inks with the Life Changing Blender Brushes to another panel. I used Black Soot, Lucky Clover and Cracked Pistachio. When my panel was dry, I trimmed down the edges and adhered a white folded note card at the back using glue. Next, I stamped the sentiment from Ho Ho Ho Stamp and I heat embossed it with WOW! Red Glitz Embossing Glitter. I repeated this step three times to get a bit more of dimension on my sentiment. Last, I stamped the images from the Baker’s Twine Stamp and heat embossed them with WOW! Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder. I filled in the empty spaces of the twine with a red gel pen and finally, I added a few sequins from Gin & Tonic Sequin Mix and this card was finished. Thank you so much crafty friends for stopping by and I hope you like these cards and get some inspiration. Please have a wonderful rest of the week. Blessings, Karen

It's Friday, let's enjoy today!   My card features the ever so sweet Songbirds Stamp set.  Now the set is even more fun to use because the Songbird Coordinating Dies set is in the store!  I used a super cool background that I created at Lydia's Virtual Retreat. Next, I die cut the hole in the tree using the circle die from the Slimline Die Cutting System.  The individual dies in the Slimline System make this die set a great value as it can be used to create any size card you wish!  Here I use the stitched circle for an A2 card. Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope that your weekend is fabulous!
