Dance to the rhythm of the sea card

by Silvana Chambon on May 08 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! I´m Silvana and today I´d like to share an inspiration card for you made with some of the last release´s products.  This card features the new Dear Summer Loving stamp. It´s super cute and fits perfectly in an A2 card. I colored with some Copic markers and cut it with the coordinating die. The last thing I did was putting little white gel pen details to highlight some parts.  For the background I made some ink smooshing with Distress Oxide inks over a watercolour paper. I let it dry and then I used the Inner Glow A2 Stencil with the new Sea Glass Blue Paper Glaze Glass. The colour is subtle and translucient but adds some shine and helps to emphasize how much fun she is having in the sea, don't you think? When I first saw the stamp set, I inmediately thought that she was dancing in the sea with her inflatable flamingo. So, I decided to use one of the sentiments from the new Signature Quotes: the Sea that fitted perfectly. I stamped it onto a black cardstock with Versamrk ink and some white embossing powder and heated it. I cut it with the coordinating die anf put some black foam tape under to give some dimension. And that´s it!  I think this card turned out very well and it´s perfect for any sea lover who enjoys a good day in the beach.  Thank you so much for being here and read the blog post. I leave you at the end the supply list for easy reaching.  I hope you have an amazing day! See you on my next post. Silvana.

Find me by the sea slimline infinity shaker

by Silvana Chambon on Apr 30 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here and today I´m sharing with you an infinity slimline shaker card with some of the last release products. As you may know, an infinity shaker it´s an edge to edge shaker card or a full panel shaker. So let´s see how to make it! Let´s start by the background. I used the Slimline scene Building: Seashore Cover Plate Die  to make with but I cut it three times with the different shades of the Fabulous Foiling Toner Cardstock Ocean Breeze Blues to make the water. I used a recycled paper cardstock that had some speckles that ressembles sand for the last piece. In a closer photo you will see that I made some "foam" in the lighter shade of blue cardstock. I used Paper Glaze Luxe Arctic Fox and apllied it with my finger for that.  I glued the different pieces onto a slimline size panel. After that I cut a piece of Shaker sheets half an inch bigger than the background and glued it on the back leaving one side open to pour the shaker fill which was the new Sequin Mix Island Blues.  I love the iridiscent colors and the perfect mix of sequins. It was perfect for this shaker.  I glued the last part of the shaker sheet to seal and put all the background over a slimine size card base.  For the sentiment I used the new Find me by the sea Word Die Set made this way: for the SEA I put some of the new Paper Glaze Glass Sea Glass Coral onto a light weight cardstock and waited until It was completely dry. This new Paper Glaze has a translucent look, but over a white cardstock looks amazing. For the rest of the sentiment I foiled a piece of the Fabulous Foiling cardstock with Fabulous Toner Foil in Metallic Silver  and cut it. I arranged the sentiment on the left side of the card so this will let the background and the sequins show.  And that´s it! Despite using many products, the card is easy to  make and looks great. I hope you can give it a try and let me know if you like it.  You can follow me on my IG: @casamagnolia_nh where I post the majority of my cards or you can find me on my website, where I write english/ spanish posts.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  See you on my next post! Have a happy week and happy creations! Silvana.

You are so extra... 3 cards session!

by Silvana Chambon on Apr 10 2024
Hello, everyone! Welcome to the Picket Fence Studios´ blog! It´s Silvana here and today I bring you a fun, mixed media style 3x1 session of cardmaking. I love when I can make multiple cards in one session and also gives me the opportunity to play with a lot of products.  First of all I want to say there´s a reel on my Instagram where you can see the process that I´m going to explain, if you are a more visual learner.  Let´s start for the background. I used two A2 pieces of watercolor paper. Over the paper I put two colors of Paper Splatter Watercolor: Liquid Turquoise Blue and Liquid Pink Blossoms.  I used a plastic bag to make the look: tied a knot on the end of the bag, put the knot in the inside, put some air on the bag, like a balloon, and tie the other end. Put some Paper splatter over a surface, tap the the part with the first knot, which is wrinkled and you will get those marks over the paper with the paper splatter. Repeat over the two pieces, and change colors.  When the pieces were dried, I used one of them and put some little details with the Polka Dot Scarf 6x8 Stencil with some black ink. After that, I looked for a piece of black cardstock and gave it some shine with the Paper Splatter: Liquid white Snowflake applied with a brayer. After that I cut it with the extra alphabet die in the new Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die . I chose some letters and glued them over the background.  I cut the background with the shadow die of the You are so extra word die. I cut that piece with the inner part of the die, the actual phrase "you are so extra". I made the same process with a piece of black cardstock:  I cut the two pieces together, centered so I obtained the phrase and the thin extra shadow. I also cut an extra piece of black cardstock with the shadow die.  Now I started to assemble the first two cards. I glued the background onto an A2 card base, then, in the shadow´s "hollow" I glued the thin black shadow, and then the word made with the background.  For the second card, I glued the thin shadow piece left from the background over the extra piece made withbthe black cardstock. Then I glued the word with black cardstock in place. I put some foam tape under the word and tape it onto an A2 card base.  I added a word and some sequins from the All about the galaxy Sequin mix.  The bonus card was made with all the leftovers: I glued the second piece of paper with the Paper Splatters on a card base and then glued the alphabet piece made with the black cardstock and white paper splatter. I put the letters in their places and chose two numbers to make a 23th birthday card. Simple but with a lot of color, contrast and shine.  I hope you enjoyed (and understood!) the process and the result!  Thanks for stopping by today. See you on my next blog post. Have a fantastic week.  Silvana

Pink gerbera for an amazing friend

by Silvana Chambon on Apr 02 2024
Hello, everybody! I´m Silvana and today I´m bringing an inspiration card for you with some of the newest products from Picket Fence Studios.   The main focus is the pink gerbera stamp from the Brighter Days Gerbera Daisy stamp set. This beautifu set was designed by Kelly Taylor and it´s gorgeous. It comes with diferent sentiments to choose from and you can find the coordinating die too.  The background was made with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink over a watercolor paper and cut with the new Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate die. The contrast between the magenta and yellow makes this card pop with color and bright. I also made some white details over the gerbera flower to make it pop even more. To finish the card I added a sentiment from the same stamp set. I stamped it over black cardstock with embossing ink and white embossing powder.  I hope this card brings joy and light up the day for a really good friend.  And if you read all this I hope you like it too!  Thank you so much for stopping by. See you in my next blog post. Have a fantastic week. Silvana.

LAYERING FLOWERS CARD

by Silvana Chambon on Mar 07 2024
Hello and welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana here and today I´m sharing with you this easy but lovely card made with some of the new products from the February release. Let´s start by the background! It´s made with the A2 Fancy Flourish Cover Plate die. I made an impression with it. Just check the instructions of your diecutting machine to do this; you´ll probably need a rubber or silicone mat in your sandwich.  This card features the new Layering Flora: Sweet Cherry Blossoms die set. I cut a bunch of flowers from a pink cardstock and arrange them over the background. There are three types of flowers with different sizes which allows you to make layers and give some dimension. I also cut some leaves with the same die set from a green cardstock.    The Hey word is from the Hi, Hey, Hello, Howdy Word dies. I cut it three times in white cardstock and stack them together, and the layer on top with a silver cardstock.  The heat embossed sentiment is from the Animals Crackers: Sow much stamp set. I cut it with its coordinating die.  To finish it up I added some gems from the Gem Mix: Reflections. Love the iridescent color of them, I chose the pink ones but, depending on the light, they change color!  I hope you enjoyed this post and the card inspires you to make your own creations! Thank you so much for stopping by and reading. Have a fantastic week. See you in my next blog post,  Silvana.

DIAGONAL GATEFOLD CARD

by Silvana Chambon on Feb 28 2024
Hello, crafters and welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana here and on this new post I´m sharing a creative fold card: a diagonal gatefold card that will allow you to make two cards with this closing form out of one sheet. I´m using some of the new products from the amazing February release. Let´s see how the finished card looks: The card opens to the left and to the top, with the diagonal cut. To make this, you have to start with a piece of heavy cardstock and make two score lines on the half on both edges of the cardstock, that means at 4 1/4" inches on the 8 1/2" side and at 5 1/2" on the 11". After that you will have to cut the cardstock diagonally meeting the left bottom point with the right top angle. I made a scheme for you just in case: After this you will have two diagonal gatefold base cards. Just press the score marks very well with your bone folder in order to get the flaps flat.  Now, the fun part! I started by making an impression with the I bee home 6x8 stencil in the left flap, making sure that the stencil covered all the card first, but leaving the upper flat out of the plates.  After that, put the upper flap down and, making sure that the pattern aligned correctly in the embossed area, I covered it with a paper and started to apply the new Paper Glaze Bee Sting.    I colored and cut some images from the Wreath Building: Greetings from our hive stamp set and arranged them in the embossed area.  To finish the card and to make the flaps down, I created a shape in form an hexagon in black heavy cardstock and cut it three times. I heated embossed the sentiment form the same stamp set in one and glue the three forms together making a strong heavy piece to go in the middle of the card, but just glued on the top flap.  I added some white details to the stamped images and that´s the end!  I really like how this card turned out with the creative fold. And I hope you like it too!  Many thanks for stopping by and read my post for today. Have a great day and happy creations!  Silvana.

St. Patrick´s Day Card

by Silvana Chambon on Feb 07 2024
Hello, crafters! Welcome to a new blog post. It´s Silvana again and in this opportunity I´m sharing with you a card for St. Patrick´s Day. I loooove this day so much, so cheerful and happy and full of the Irish traditions! And in the last release you can find the perfect stamp set to celebrate this holiday.  This is my inspiration card for the Wreath Building: St. Patrick´s Day stamp set.  This card has a lot of stamping, because the set has a lot of small stamps and I wanted to use them all! I started by making a 5x7" mask with some masking tape. You can use  masking paper if you prefer. Then I made two cuts to make the "pathway" for the stamps. I put the two tape pieces over the corners of a 5x7" piece of cardstock leaving the central tape piece aside. I stamped all the images with Black Hybrid ink and copic colored them.  After all the stamping and coloring was done, I removed the masks from the corners and put the central piece to cover all the stamping, trying to match the edges.  After that, I put some green ink, in this case is the Lucky Clover Distress Oxide. Over the inked parts, I used some Lime Tart Paper Glitz through the A whole polka dot 6x8 stencil. This mixed media paste has the right amount of shine that St. Patrick´s deserve! To finish it up, I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder over a black cardstock and cut it with the 2.0" Connected Circles Shaker Creator die.  I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I did.  Thank you so much for stopping by the PFS blog and taking time to read the post. I leave you the  supplys list at the end of the post, but you can hover over the product name and then click on the link.  Happy creations and Sláinte! Silvana

Birthday Dance Confetti Card

by Silvana Chambon on Jan 30 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here with another inspiration card. This time I´m showing you some of the new products from the latest release, specially the new Birthday Dance Confetti Stamp. It´s a 6" x 6" seamless stamp from the Building backgrounds collection.  I started by stamping 6x6" stamp with Versamark ink and applying white embossing powder. After I heat embossed it I started to apply the different inks with the help of the Pint sized Paper Pouncers and the Paper Inking palette to hold the paper. I trimmed the background in a A2 size and cut the new Hooray Die from it. It´s a big die that fits perfectly in an A2 card.   To make the shadow effect I cut the Hooray die from 80 lb cardstock four times. Then I glued the background on a card base, glued every Hooray in the place, stacking them, and on top I glued the first Hooray from the background.  For the stamped sentiment I used one of the phrases in the The Bakery stamp set, stamped with Versamark ink and embossing powder too.   I hope you enjoyed this colorful card and I wish that the process were useful.  Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful week.  Silvana.

Inappropriate Christmas shaker

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Sep 26 2023
Hello, everyone! It´s Silvana here and today I´m sharing with you a fun shaker card made with some products of the September release.  For the background I used one of the new sets of Fabulous Foiling Toner Card Fronts: Christmas Goodies. I chose the one with little gingerbread cookies and foiled it with the new Fabulous Toner Foil in Poinsettia Red color. After I peeled away the foil from the card front, I put the negative foil piece (the piece you obtain after, the one that normally ends in the trash) over a piece of Fabulous Toner Foil Cardstock in Christmas Berries Reds. And that´s how I obtained this shinny and gorgeous background. I saved the first piece for other background. It´s a two for one!  I assemble the Martini shaker die and filled it with the new Sequin Mix Plus Santa´s Cookies. To finish the card I added a sentiment from the new More Inappropriate Christmas sentiments stamp set which I heat embossed in white over black cardstock.  To assemble the card, I used Extra Wide Foam White Rectangles to add dimension to the shiny background. The little snowflake detail was made with a die from the Santa´s Hot Cocoa Mug Die.  I hope you like this card and give a funny and inappropriate Christmas a chance!  Thanks for stoping by.  See you in my next post. Silvana.

Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here and today I´m sharing a fun Halloween card made with some new products from the July release. You can see all the collection here.  In the background, I used the new Mini Hot Flashes Stencil with different tones of Distress Oxides inks imitating the colors of the fire. Then, I used the Mini Haunted Moon Blending Stencil in the top of the card. Over the moon, I needed a flying witch so I used the one in the Slim Line Welcome to the Graveyard Blending Stencil. This malefic witch set on fire the woods of the A Nightly Sky stamp set.  To finish the scene, I heat embossed with white embossing powder a sentiment from the new Inappropriate Halloween stamp set.  The final result is a very fun card appropriate for that special witch friend.  I hope you like it and encourages you to use your stencils! Have a fantastic week. I´ll leave you the products list below with my affiliates links. Thank you so much for your support! Silvana.

You deserved to be spoiled slimline shaker card

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on May 10 2023
Hello, everyone! It´s Silvana here and today I want to share with you a slimline shaker card featuring some products from PFS. The new product here and the star in the card is the Oval fence Slim line diecutting system insert which cuts that lovely fence you can create a lot of scenes with.  The cute animals are from the Animal Crackers: You deserved to be spoiled stamp set. I used the coordinating die too. This set comes with a lot of small images to stamp and cut and I used them all to fill the shaker! The images are perfect for that. The sentiment is from that stamp set too.  For the shaker I also used The Sequin mix Iridescent Moonshine.  The clouds in the back ground were made with the Slimline Cloud Coverage stencil.  I loved how the card turned out! I hope you give it a try to this oval shaker. Thanks for stop by and read.  See you in my next post. Silvana.

Three parts background idea with March release.

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Mar 22 2023
Hello, everyone! It´s Silvana here. Welcome to the PFS blog! Today I´m sharing a creative idea to use a lot of supplies of the new March release. But you can use whatever supplies that you already have in your stash!  Let´s talk about the card. It has a composition of three parts that fit together because the products that I use have the same "theme" (almost, but I made it happen lol). On the bottom of the card I used the new 6x8 Tree Bark Stencil which remind me of the peacock´s feathers so I decided to ink it in this beautiful bird´s colors. Yes, the stencil it´s made to resemble wood texture, but I thought of the pattern in the feathers... To apply the ink, I used a combination of the tools that Picket Fence Studios has: the Life Changing Blender Brushes for the soft hand, and the new (and amazing) Paper Pouncers for the heavy hand. The pouncers help to apply a lot of ink in an easy and comfortable way, so I´m in love with them.  On the right you can see the peacock from the new Illuminating Peacock stamp set and the sentiment is from the set too. I used two colors of ink here to make the peacock pop.  The top part of the card is my favorite one and has some work, but totally worth it. I started by creating a mask with the Fanciful Feathers Die cut in some kind of masking paper or wide temporary tape. I put them in the remaining space and then applied some ink with a heavy hand. After that, I put a thin layer of Paper Glitz Sparkle and waited to completely dry. I removed the feathers masks and the result was incredible! Shiny and different from the other two.  To finish the card I added some sequins from the new Sequin Mix Peacock tails. This card is a 5x7 one, so I cut the background 1/4 inch from each side and tape it with foam tape over the card base. The sentiment is also tape with dimensional tape.  I hope you like this idea and give it a try! Maybe you can search in your PFS products and find some that combines and make your own version.  Thank you so much for reading.  See you in my next post. Have a wonderful day! Silvana.

Under the sea scene card

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Jan 18 2023
Hello, everyone! Happy New year! It´s Silvana here with another inspiration card featuring some of the new products from the January release.  This card has a background story. I live in the southern hemisphere and here we´re in summer, with very high temperatures, the ideal climate to go to the beach. One day, as I was  walking in the shore, the Atlantic Ocean was so clear and blue that inspired me to create the sea for this card.  But, I didn´t have any ocean themed stamps, so I just kept my photo of the ocean in my phone just in case. When I received the DT package and saw all the products of January release, I realize that this card was meant to be made. The new release not only has these beautiful stamp set called Even more of a fishy Lot with the coordinating die, but has a lot of fishy themed products! It was amazing and incredible.  This release also have a lot of stencils that goes perfectly with the ocean themed. I use the Sun with Rays 6x8 stencil to make the sunset sky. It´s a very special time, the sunset in our beaches. When the sun goes down over the sea, and dissapears completely, we applaude to say thanks for another beautiful summer day. It´s a special time to be in the beach. Of course, I couldn´t make this beautiful background without the help of my favourite tool for inkblending: the Life Changing Blender Brushes.  Our beaches are special, and we can have the opportunity to see some whales in a few specific months. We´re blessed with their visits. So, as I said, this is a unique and special card for me. I hope you enjoyed the story and give this products a try.  Thanks for reading.  Silvana.

Halloween banner with dies!

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Sep 08 2022
Hello! It´s Silvana here with another inspiration post.  Is it too early to start thinking about Halloween decor...? Never! The spooky season is around the corner and we need to be prepared. Last release inspired meto make a banner just with dies. Yes! The dies are the most versatile and durable product that we can purchase and we can stretch the use of them in creative ways.  For the banner base I used the A2 Haunted Lair Cover Plate die woth a hevy weight black cardstock.  The funny ghosts are the Three Ghastly friends die that are perfect for this! In the middle, I put the ghost over the A2 Spooky tree die just to make it more spooky.  The Happy Halloween word die was cut three times in different colors made with the incredibles Paper Glaze velvet in Bonfire, Split pea soup and Sea urchin colors.  I hope you enjoyed this idea and give it a try! See you soon with more inspiration.  Silvana.

A Mum shaker card

by Silvana Chambon Scarenzio on Jul 28 2022
Hi, everyone! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia and I´m so happy to be for the first time in the Picket Fence Studios blog. Today I´m sharing a shaker card made with some new products of the July release and previous products. Picket Fence has this amazing A2 Full Front Shaker die to make shaker cards that makes it so easy! Just cut the acetate and you´ll have the perfect A2 size piece and the marks to fold and paste the flaps. Acetate can be tricky to fold but this die help us very much with that. For the back panel of the card I dry emboss an A2 size piece of cardstock with the new stencil Shadow of leaves. Then, I paste the diecut acetate panel and filled the shaker with the new Sequin Mix Yellow Bottlecap Flowers. The beautiful flower stamp is called A mum which I die cut with the coordinating die. I colored the stamp with Copic markers to combine with the sequin mix. The sentiment is from the new stamp set Fancy Life Events sentiments and its coordinating die. I heat emboss it with white embossing powder on black cardstock. Even though the card has some fall vibes, we can use it for any ocassion. It can be given with a wedding present or on a birthday party. I hope you like it! See you in my next post. Virtual hugs, Silvana.
