More leaves Card by Laura

Hello everyone!! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this fall card that I hope will inspire you! To start I used the "More Maple Leaves", "More Oak Leaves" and "More Ash Leaves" dies that i cut on gold and black cardboard. Next I prepared the background: for this I cut the outside of the leaf dies and used them as a stencil. Then I randomly placed them in the background and painted them with Distress Oxide inks in earth tones. Then I was pasting the leaves on top, but with a little offset to give it a different touch. For the sentiment i cut the "Good day to you word" die on gold cardboard and placed it in the center of the card. And this is how the result was! Birthday girl card by Laura

Hello everyone!! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this birthday card that I hope will inspire you! To start I used the "Birthday Girl Dear" stamps that I stamped with the "Black Hybrid Ink Pad" and then painted with alcohol markers. Then I cut a red and a black cardstock with the "Happy Day Word Topper Die" and glued one on top of the other to make a shadow. Then I prepared the background: for this I used a white cardboard where I used the "Tile Montage 6x6 stencil" to which I applied green, yellow and red tones in combination with the stamps Finally I prepared the composition, glued all the pieces and added some "Gems Mixes Fire" and "Gems Mixes Oceans of Green" to give it a more glamorous touch. Throwback to Penguins

I'm sharing two cards with a throwback to some previously released stamps and dies...Penguins Wanna Have Fun Stamps and Coordinating Dies, and Glacier Scenery Stamps and Coordinating Dies. It's no secret, I love the Mini Slim Line Double Stitched Rectangles Dies. I combined it with the stamp set More of the Best Hugs Ever. For this card I used the tiny stamps from the stamp set Penguins Wanna Have Fun and created a fun background. I colored the images with Copic Markers and added lots of stickles glitter glue. Iconic Beauty Scarlett card

Hello everyone!! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to make my first post on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this Mix Media card that I hope will inspire you! First I started stamping the "Iconic Beauty Scarlett" stamp with the "Black hybrid ink pad" which has a great definition!! Next I painted the girl with alcohol markers, and then I used a fine black marker and a white marker to highlight the details. Now we will prepare the background: for this I used a beige cardboard to which I added the "Grunge wall 6x6 stencil" with distress oxide Fired Brick ink. I also added the "Iconic Beauty Scarlett" stamp sentiment and "Slimline hexagon Randomness" to the background using the "Black hybrid ink pad" again.Finally, I cut the "Thank You Word Topper Die" out of gold cardboard and prepared the composition by gluing all the pieces together. To finish I added some decorations with the "Gems mix fire" and the "Sequin mix Heart Breaker" to give it a more Chik touch. Beautiful Heart

Hello there! Michelle here, so happy to share this card with you today! I used the Swirly heart A2 Stencil as my focal point. I inked it up with distress oxide inks in shades tattered rose, worn lipstick and aged mahogany. I masked up the perimeter of the stenciled heart and stamped the twine bow from the stamp set, Handmade Twine Bows. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set, Fancy Daily Sentiments. I stamped the bow and sentiment several times with black ink using the one and only MISTI! I created the frame using Double Stitched Rectangle Dies and propped it up with the most amazing Foam Tape. For a finishing touch, I added a pair of Kaleidoscope Butterflies. I a hope you check out the products highlighted today!!! Can't wait to see what you create! Michelle

Gemini Girl with Michelle

I used the A2 rose lines stencil with Distress Oxide ink in the background, and then coloured the gemini girl image with copic markers, adding some gold gel pen highlights to her hair clips and earring. Somebunny Loves You

Hi friends, its Amanda, I am so excited to share with you this fun card I created using this this adorable stamp set form this month's new release Somebunny Loves You along with the Coordinating die Somebunny Loves You Coordinating Die. I used Distress Oxide inks Tattered Rose, Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord, And Chipped Sapphire for the sky and Rustic Wilderness and Pine Needles for the ground I used my Life Changing Blending Brushes To create this fun little scene by first ink blending the background and then using Chipped Sapphire for Rainbow of Hearts Stencil behind these adorable little critters! Copic markers used: Gray Bears C1, C3, C5, C7, Bunny E50, E51, E31, Brown Bear E23, E57 E35 They are so cute in this little scene. Ok well that's all from me today thanks for stopping by!

Sending Sympathy with Rachelle

Hello there - it's Rachelle with you today and unfortunately, I needed several sympathy cards during this past Christmas holiday. I made multiples of the same design and I'd like to share this layout. This is a mini-slimline design that started with an ink-blended background using the Slim Line Lots of Blossoms Stencil and a selection of blue Distress Oxide Inks. This panel was die cut using the larger rectangle from the Mini Slim Line Double Stitched Rectangles Die Cutting System. The Slim Line Oversized With Sympathy Word Die was cut from navy card stock, glued onto the stencil panel and the overhang was trimmed from the back side. This panel was attached to a piece of pearlized aqua card stock and then adhered to a slim line card base. The card was finished up with a scattering of the beautiful pearly gray gems from the Moon Shadow Gem Mix. Thanks so much for joining me today! Hugs - Rachelle

Hello shaker card with Michelle

FaLaLaLaaaa!

Hello there, Lisa here today for 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration. Christmas isn't too far away now, but maybe you are still creating the odd card here and there for close family and friends. Today I am sharing a card using two of the cutest woodland bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey and I thought I would pair them with an older background stamp. It's called On An Autumn Countyside and I love it. I think it can be used just as easily for Christmas cards as well as Autumn cards especially when you white heat emboss as it looks perfectly frosty. We all like to stretch our stamps don't we?! I started by stamping the tree onto some white cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set and then set to work with my Distress Oxide Inks. Using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade from top to bottom. I trimmed the panel down and matted it onto some navy cardstock which i then added onto a top folding white 110lb notecard. Not a very traditional colour scheme but I love Seedless Preserves and wanted to use it today, and we can do whatever we want in cardmaking can't we! The two bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey were stamped using Black Hybrid Ink and coloured with Copics (numbers listed a little later). They were then cut out with the coordinating dies and popped onto the panel using foam tape. To finish the card I stamped a greeting from Lots Of Christmas Cheer onto navy cardstock using Versamark Ink. Again, I applied white embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out into a little banner shape. I added some white gel pen stitching onto it and then added it to the panel with foam tape. No-Line Watercolor Wreath with Rachelle

Hello and thank you for stopping by as we continue our 25 Days of Christmas Inspiration! It's Rachelle, from Red Cre8s, and I'm so glad you've joined me today! I've got some great tips for a special no-line watercolor painting of the gorgeous image, "A Wreath For All Seasons"! I began with a piece of 110# Cougar Opaque White card stock - this is a bright white stock (cleaner than Neenah Solar White) and can absorb a lot of paint without pilling! I placed this large stamp into my MISTI and lightly brushed the surface with my kneaded eraser. This 'preps' the surface of the stamp and allows the ink to be applied evenly and completely. I don't always do this but this image has a lot of coverage and I wanted to be sure that it stamped correctly! I stamped it with "Antique Linen" Distress Oxide Ink a couple of times to get a good impression. When painting an image like this one, it's best to start with the areas in the background and work your way to the front. This allows you to cover up all of the areas from the previous layer with your most recent application. So I began with the peach buds, then the green leaves, and the magenta/ruby petals, etc. In areas where you want to play light against dark, start with the light (as in the ruby petals) and then paint the darker color value on top. I painted each tiny section of the magenta first, overlapping the shape and then carefully painted the dark ruby around it. I continued with the blues, olive green and gold until I ended up in the center. Using the Distress Oxide Ink allows you to cover all of the image lines - the ink reacts to the paint and in effect, blends right into the background. After all the watercolor painting was complete (about 4 hours) I outlined the entire image with gold metallic paint using a very tiny 000-sized brush! You can see that detailing in the photo below! I trimmed the panel down to 4" x 5.25" and mounted it to a magenta card front. Since the image was the star of the show, I simply added the one-word die cut from the "Slim Line Oversized Joy To The World Die" to finish up the card. Aquarius Girl with Michelle

Hello! I am continuing my series of cards using the Zodiac Girl stamps. This month's release is Aquarius girl, and it you look closely at her hair, it seemed obvious to me what colour it had to be! The card base is acetate, so I cut 4 pieces of cardstock with the coordinating die - one (#1) to stamp and colour in to go on the front of the card, one (#2) to go inside the front of the card to hid the adhesive from the front of the card, one (#3) for inside the card to write a message on, and one (#4) on the back of the card to hid the adhesive from the 3rd piece. Color Your Stress Away

Hello there, Lisa here to share a card with you today. It's no secret that I love to colour the Beautiful Girl stamps and so today's card features Beautiful Girl Sydnee and the Glass Window Rainbow Die. Both of these are slightly older products, but it's always nice to see them used in a different way. To start my card, I stamped Sydnee Girl onto some 80lb white cardstock using Black Hybrid Ink and I coloured her with Copics. The numbers are listed below if you would like to see them. She was then cut out with the coordinating die and set to one side. I created my background by blending Distress Oxide inks onto some white cardstock using an oval masking stencil. Taking my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I applied Cracked Pistachio, Salvaged Patina and Kitsch Flamingo across the panel from top left to bottom right. I then took another panel of 80lb white cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine with the Glass Window Rainbow Die. So, all my pieces were pretty much ready to assemble. All I needed to do was to create my front window panel. Taking another panel of white card, I die cut an oval into the front and then I adhered the stained glass window die cut behind it. I then took two oval dies which were close in size and die cut a frame which I glued to the front just to add a bit more interest. It reminds me a little bit of a cameo brooch/picture! The ink blended panel was added to a top folding A2 note card and then the window panel and Sydnee were popped up with foam tape over the top. The sentiment is from Crafty Lifestyle and it was stamped onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white detail embossing powder and heat set. It was trimmed out and added with foam tape and a little glue. For a bit of sparkle I added a few gems from Oceans Of Green Gem Mix. Copics used: Skin (E53, E21, E00, E000, R20), Lips (R22), Pink Flowers (R22, R21, R20), Eyeshadow (G12, G40), Green Flowers (G12), Hair (E55, E53, E51)

With Sympathy - The Cards We Never Want To Make

Hello there, Lisa here today to share a sympathy card with you. These are the cards that we never want to make. I actually find it easier to have a few ready on hand to send out, then at least I am not struggling to do it when the need arises. For sympathy cards, I often keep my colours muted, or at last keep the card really simple. I never feel it's the time for a lot of clutter or "noise" on a card. I started by taking a panel of 80lb white cardstock and securing the Slim Line Changes Stencil to it (from behind) with low tack tape. Then, using Life Changing Blending Brushes, I blended Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxides randomly through the stencil. I removed the stencil and cleaned it off. Next I took the Slim Line Oversized With Sympathy Word Die and die cut it from Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock. The shadow was die cut from vellum. I adhered the die cut sentiment to the vellum using tiny dabs of wet adhesive so that they wouldn't be visible and then I set it aside to dry. I put an acrylic block on it to make sure it was really stuck down tightly. You could even add extra layers of the word die if you want, to give the card a little bit more dimension. Next, for a bit of extra interest, I took the Leaves For Flowers stamp set and stamped a selection of the leaves onto vellum using Versamark Ink. I then applied white detail embossing powder before heat setting. They were then cut out with the coordinating dies. I trimmed the stencilled panel down slightly and adhered it to an A2 top folding horizontal base card using wet adhesive. I then added tiny bits of adhesive onto the back of the vellum and adhered that down over the centre. I put some glue onto the little leaves and placed those around the sentiment. It is definitely possible to use this slim line word die on an A2 card. I just trimmed off the excess from the sides and I like how it was the focal point. I hope that this gives you some inspiration for a clean and simple sympathy card. Until next time, happy crafting!

One Set, Two Ways!

Hello! Larisa here and today, I'm sharing two very different cards using the same stamp set: Winter Has Come To Town. I love to stretch my supplies and come up with creative ways to use them! Today, I'm showing you how to use one set two ways! For my first card, I stamped out the village scene using black ink. Then I colored it up using Copics. For the sky, I added some distress inks and then popped up my sentiment with foam tape. A pretty simple card that packs a colorful punch! For my second card, I stamped the village scene again, but this time, I used light grey ink. Then I stamped out my sentiment using red ink and used a black pen to add some shadows. I paired the NEW Winter Scene Building People to my scene and colored them up with Copics. A bit of foam tape, helps them stand out in the scene. Then I layered the whole thing on some dark green card stock. I just love that both of the cards use the same stamp set, but look so different! Thanks so much for stopping by! Capricorn Girl with Michelle

I decided she needed a little pizazz, so I added some of the new Silver Bells Paper Glitz to her horns, her eyelids and her earrings. I also mixed some with water and splattered it in the background. Scene Cards with Larisa

Hello, Larisa here and today I'm sharing a couple of scene cards featuring the New Release! For my first card, I paired the NEW Lots of Christmas Cheer Stamp Set with the NEW Slim Line Our Town Cover Plate Die. To begin, I started with the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System and used it to cut a piece of white card stock and a red scalloped piece to mat behind it. Using my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I added some blue distress ink to the background. Then I die cut a piece of black card stock with the Our Town Cover Plate Die. I adhered that to the center of my background piece. Then I tore a piece of white card stock and added that just under the town to mimic the look of snow. I stamped out the grouped animal image, colored it using Copic Markers and cut it out using the coordinating die. Using foam tape, I added it to the right side of the card. On the left side, I stamped my sentiment in black ink. For the final touch, I added several tiny snowflakes from the NEW Santa Is Here Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert. My next card is a fun little back-to-school scene that features two of the little cuties from the NEW Your Next Book Dear Stamp Set. To create this card, I stamped out the NEW Medley of Fall Collage Stamp in red ink on orange paper. Then I trimmed that into a square. Across the bottom, I added a skinny piece of grey card stock. On top of that some die cut grass. Then I stamped out my images, colored them up with Copics, and cut them out using the coordinating dies.
