Strelitzia card by Michelle

Hello! When I'm not making cards, I'm a bona fide science nerd, so this Bird of Paradise (otherwise known as Strelitzia) stamp brings out the botany nerd in me. This flower is not a flower - it is an inflorescence, which is a bunch of flowers. In this case, the individual flowers bloom one after the other in a series. They are pollinated by birds, who stand on the blue part of the flower, exposing the sticky pollen that coats their feet and that then gets carried to the next inflorescence.  If you're not bored yet, I made this card by stamping the main image and colouring it with Copic markers. I used a dark blue card base, inked with the Flowers Stencil and white pigment ink. Thanks for visiting :)

I'm obsessed, y'all

by Michelle Lupton on Jan 08 2021
I have a bright and happy card to share today, using alcohol inks, pink foil and an awesome word die from Picket Fence Studios. I made a panel of yupo with pink alcohol ink and pink foil, and cut it with the Slimline diecutting system. I cut the y'all die from pink, black and white cardstock, and layered them offset to create a drop shadow.  I then stamped and white embossed the rest of the sentiment onto another piece of pink cardstock and layered it over the top. Relatively simple, but the large word die packs a punch! Thanks for visiting :)

I have a pretty-in-pink card to share today! I used the Slimline Diecutting system to create the card base and the pink panel, then I added some pink stenciling to the pink panel. I stamped and cut out a heap of flowers and leaves, coloured them with pink, purple and pale green Copic markers, and arranged them onto the card front. I then picked them all up with some Press And Seal to make adhering them in the right places easier. I finished with some sequins and a white embossed sentiment on a scrap of purple cardstock.   Thanks for visiting :)

Slimline baby card

by Michelle Lupton on Nov 27 2020
I have a baby card to share today using products from the November release at Picket Fence Studios. I started by creating a background with the slimline flowers stencil and my Life Changing Blender Brushes and Distress Oxide inks. I coloured the cute little baby image with a mixture of copic markers and Derwent pencils to give the pale, no-line colouring look. I cut the squares out of a panel of white cardstock to fit over the slimline card base (I made them wonky, mainly because I need practice lining them up nice and straight!) and finished with a little sentiment that I tucked into the bottom edge of one of the square windows. Thanks for visiting :)

Hello! It's Michelle here today, and I'm sharing my very first attempt at a new technique (well, new to me!) I added the kaleidoscope stencil over my gel press, and  then added two colours of alcohol ink and one colour of alcohol pearls. I brayered them over the stencil, then removed the stencil and allowed them to dry. I then brayered a thin layer of  white acrylic gouache over the top and took a print from the gel press. I finished the card with the Thankyou for being you sentiment stamp and some Gin and Tonic sequins. Thanks for visiting :)

Today, I'm sharing a card using the Slimline leaf stencil on a standard sized card  I placed the stencil on my card front so that the pointy end was in the centre, and added some Distress Oxide ink with my Life Changing Blender Brushes. I repeated this with a rainbow of inks. The stencil is shaped so that you can place it six times in a circle and you will get a hexagonal share in the centre - so satisfying! I finished with a sentiment from the Dragon Fruit stamp set, and some Gin and Tonic Sequins. Thanks for visiting :)

Hello! It's Michelle here today, and I'm sharing a card using the no-line colouring technique.    I stamped the rose image in very pale ink, then coloured it with Derwent pencils. I fussy cut around the left edge of the rose and adhered it to a pink card base with a strip of red cardstock. I stamped and white embossed the sentiment from Fancy Sentiments onto matching red cardstock, and added it to the front of the card, along with some Gin and Tonic sequins.  IMPORTANT NEWS!!!   Click HERE to shop the sale! August Release with Michelle

by Michelle Lupton on Aug 14 2020

Hello! It's Michelle here today, and it's release day for Picket Fence Studios! I have an eclectic bunch of cards for you today, using a variety of stamps and stencils from the August release. This first card is a simple, one layer card - I used an older circle stencil to create a spotlight in the centre of the card to highlight the beautiful songbird and the sentiment. My next card is one I will share with a friend who is a breast cancer survivor. I white embossed the Hope Ribbons stamp multiple times onto some pick cardstock (lining up the image so that is a continuous image on the card) and white embossed the image. I cut the panel and added it to a white card base, then added a layered "love ya" sentiment. I finished with a scattering of sequins. This next card is a little outside my comfort zone! I started with a piece of black cardstock and added the Evergreens stencil to add paper glazes using a foam ink blending tool. (There was some glitter stuck on my pink foam in blending tool, which added a little certain something to my card!) I added green, blue and pink to mimic the Aurora Australis (or Borealis, depending on where you live!). I finished with a white embossed sentiment. There is a video of how I made this card on the Picket Fence Studios YouTube channel! All of the products in the new release are linked below - it's a great release with such a great variety of images! I know you're going to love it! Thanks for visiting :)

Watercolour Tulips

Hello - it's Michelle here today, and I have a card to share today using the Early Tulip Bouquet stamp set.   I started by ink smooshing some Distress Oxide inks onto a piece of watercolour paper. I then stamped the main image from Early Tulip Bouquet in Picket Fence Studios Black hybrid ink, and coloured the image using Copic markers in colours to match the Distress Oxide inks.  I then stamped the Hello from Fancy Sentiments, but I masked off part of the flourishes on the word so that it would fit a bit better on the card. Have you heard? Picket Fence Studios is the Brand of the Month at Simon Says Stamp! Thanks for visiting :)

I have a bold floral card to share today, using stamps from the May release. I white embossed the image from "A Rose" in the top left and bottom right of a piece of Canson watercolour paper. I painted the image using Distress Oxide inks in a variety of blue, pink and red colours. I added a sentiment from the Bird of Paradise Flowers stamp set white embossed onto a scrap of black cardstock. I finished with some sequins from the Gin and Tonic sequin mix.   Did you know? Mixing Paper Glaze

by Michelle Lupton on Jun 12 2020
Hello - it's Michelle here today to share this card that I made a little while ago by mixing Agapantha purple and Cornflower Blue paper glazes to create a new colour. I love using a gradient of colour over a stencil - I usually do this with ink and Life Changing Blender Brushes, but you can do it with Paper Glazes and a palette knife, too!  They mix beautifully, and spread over the stencil just like cake frosting - so satisfying! I called my new colour Royal Blue. I used the Mermaid Scales stencil and a sentiment from Fancy Sentiments on this card. Thanks for visiting :)

Hello! It's Michelle here today to share a watercolour emboss resist card I made using the Early Tulips Bouquet stamp set from Picket Fence Studios. I stamped the floral image onto watercolour cardstock with Versamark ink and white embossed it. I then added scribbles of red, orange, emerald green and olive green watercolour markers (I used Zig markers) and then sprayed the panel with water. I dried the panel with a heat tool before adding more colour and repeating the process. When I came to the background, I added the deep blue and the aqua colour, but I used a waterbrush to spread the colour instead of spraying with water, beecause I didn't want to risk the colours bleeding where I didn't want them to and ending up with a murky brown mess! German Braids with ribbons

by Michelle Lupton on Dec 27 2019
Hello, crafty friends! Michelle here to share a card I created using the German Braids stamp from Picket Fence Studios. I stamped the German Braids image using Versafine sepia ink, and cut her out with the coordinating die.  I then took some ribbon from my stash and made some bows to go around her braids. I used the Quatrefoil Bouquet Stencil to create the background using Distress Oxide inks and my Life Changing Blender Brushes. I then added the sentiment from I Freaking Love You, also stamped in Versafine ink. Thanks for visiting :)
