Let’s dive into today’s creative journey together!
Hey, friends! Justin Adkins here from Just a Note by Justin, and today I am sharing some fun giraffe inspiration using products from the June 2024 Release! This card has a bunch of different textures going on, and it all comes together for a wild birthday card!
Below is a list of Picket Fence Studios products that I used to put this card together:
Let's go on an adventure for how we put this card together!
This card had a lot of prep-work that went into it with the various Paper Glazes that I used. First, I grabbed a few pieces of mixed media cardstock and spread out a solid layer of each of the colors from the Paper Glaze Colors of Herb Sampler Set: Marigold Orange, Daffodil Yellow, and Fern Green. I set these layers aside to dry.
Next, I took a panel of mixed media paper, trimmed it down to 4" x 5.25" using the A2 Rectangles or Card Layering Die Set and splattered it with the Paper Splatter Watercolor- Liquid Fire Orange. When the Paper Splatter had fully dried, I placed the You Make the World Shimmer A2 Stencil over the panel and spread a solid layer of the Paper Glaze Brass Doorknob. I removed the stencil immediately, placed my panel aside to dry and washed my stencil. When I returned to my desk, I took a piece of mixed media cardstock that I trimmed down to 4.125" x 5.375" using the A2 Rectangles or Card Layering Die Set. and applied a solid layer of Paper Glaze Brass Doorknob to the edges. Once this panel was fully dried, I adhered it to an A2-size panel of orange cardstock, and then adhered my dried You Make the World Shimmer stenciled panel on top.
I used the Long Neck Family Dies and die cut each of the shapes from one of the Herb Sampler set papers I prepared earlier. I also stamped out the sentiment "you get the first piece of cake today" from the Swanky Sentiments: Birthday Stamp Set on to kraft cardstock in black ink, die cut it with the Coordinating Die Set, and began layering my giraffes onto my card. Once I had my images into place, I adhered them with liquid adhesive, and followed that by adhering my sentiment unit with foam tape.
I finished my card off by adhering the panel to an A2-sized card base and then adhering a few sequins from the Friends in Tall Places Sequin Mix! My card was completed!
