Love and Joy: Copic-colored Diecuts

Hello there! It's Andrea with you sharing a Christmas card created with fun dies from Picket Fence Studios. I just love Picket Fence Studios' line of Nibbles Dies! Today, I'm featuring the Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus Dies. Aren't they adorable?! I diecut the elements for Santa and Mrs. Claus from white, red and gold cardstocks. I colored the white and red diecuts with Copics, assembled the characters with liquid adhesive, and added highlights with a white gel pen. That cheerful background panel is from the Happy Gingham Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts. To soften it a bit, I applied white gesso in the center (white acrylic paint would also work; I just had the gesso at hand). Once the gesso was dry, I trimmed down the panel and adhered it to a white cardbase. With the Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles and Alpha Dies, I diecut two scalloped circles from white cardstock. I adhered the circles to my card with foam squares and popped up Santa and Mrs. Claus. Using the Layering Flora: Leaves & Twigs Dies, I diecut the foliage from two colors of green cardstock. I tucked the foliage under my characters and circles and added red clay beads for berries. For my sentiment I combined words from the Peaceful Christmas Flowers set with the "and" word die from the Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles Dies. I gold heat-embossed the stamped sentiments and diecut them with the coordinating dies. I diecut "and" once from gold cardstock and three times from white and stacked the diecuts. I attached the embossed sentiments with foam tape and finished with a scattering of gold pearls. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Ghostly Greetings

by Andrea Shell on Sep 05 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea with you to share a fun card featuring the new Be My Boo? stamp set and October 31st Word Dies. These ghosts from the Be My Boo? stamp set are so cute! I colored them with Copics, fussy-cut them, and added white highlights with a gel pen. To create my background, I blended a white panel with the following colors of distress oxides: Salvaged Patina, Unchartered Mariner, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot. I flicked Opaque White Paper Splatter over the panel to represent stars. For my moon, I diecut a white circle with the 2.0" Connected Circles Shaker Dies. I blended the circle with gray ink and stamped a sentiment from the Freckle Friends: Bella Boo stamp set. I glued the circle to my background and attached the panel to a white cardbase. I diecut "October" with the October 31st Word Dies twice - once from black glitter cardstock and once from white cardstock. I trimmed the spider webs from the black diecut before gluing it onto the white one. I popped up the diecut with bits of foam and attached the ghosts with thinner foam adhesive. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Christmas Shaker Card: Copic-Colored Diecuts

by Andrea Shell on Aug 26 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea back to share a fun shaker card featuring new dies from Picket Fence Studios. Have you seen the Nibbles line of dies from Picket Fence Studios? They are so adorable! I'm featuring two of the newest Nibbles dies on this card: The Brave Bear and Santa. I love them! I diecut the various elements from white and colored cardstocks. Before assembling the characters, I added Copics to the pieces to create a bit of dimension. To keep the diecuts in place while I colored them, I used the 4"x4" Paper Inking Palette. For the shaker I diecut gray cardstock with the A2 Saying Hello Cover Plate Die. I backed the panel with clear acetate and strips cut from Extra Wide Foam (The extra thickness is perfect for shakers!). I created the polka dot background by stenciling white cardstock with the A Whole Lot of Polka Dots 6"x8" Stencil. I used a Pint-Sized Paper Pouncer to apply red ink through the stencil. The shaker pieces are from the Hi Santa! It's Me! mix. After placing the sequins onto my polka dot panel, I sealed them with the diecut panel. I attached my bear and Santa with foam squares and finished with a sentiment from the Peaceful Christmas Flowers stamp set, which I diecut with the coordinating dies. A Spooky Flight!

by Colleen Balija on Aug 02 2024
Hi friends! It's Colleen here, and I'm going to share a spooktacular Halloween card with you today! For my card, I'll be using the new A Spooky Flight stamp and die set, Liquid Paper Splatters in Kiwi Lime, and Falling Brick Wall die plate.  This card was perhaps the most fun one of the month! I'm going to give this one to my 10-year-old granddaughter - she loves Halloween, and she loves purple! And it's not a scary card, it's cute! First, I stamped the butterfly / bats (they look like a bat and a butterfly got together and had a baby!) and heat embossed them with a deep purple embossing powder. Then I colored them in with my Copic markers in V04 and RV17 (I mixed the 2 together to get a unique color). Then I die cut each of them out with the coordinating dies.  Already I was LOVING the look of this card! Next, I wanted to create a dark background for the butterfly / bats (do these really exist?). To add texture to a black background panel, I die cut Falling Brick Wall die, added the purple embossing powder, and adhered it over the black cardstock. Then, I stamped the sentiment words from this set that say "Spooky", "Fun", Halloween" and "Night" in the purple embossing powder all over the background panel. I added foam tape to my butterfly / bats and placed them over the background panel, deliberately placing a few off the side of the card panel and then trimming them. I finished with Liquid Paper Splatters in Kiwi Lime all over the card panel! I am thrilled with how this turned out, spooky and playful all at the same time! And I still want to know if butterfly / bats actually do exist! The Kiwi Lime Splatters were actually added as an afterthought, and I love how it looks on this card!!! Know You Are Surrounded By Love

by Brenda Noelke on May 15 2024
Happy Wednesday, fellow crafters!! This week sure is flying by!! Brenda here with an encouragement card featuring goodies from yesterday's release!! I started by white heat embossing the flowers from the Sweet Summer Bellflowers Stamp Set onto Bristol smooth cardstock. I watercolored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, then cut them out with their Coordinating Dies. For the background, I stamped the She Endured Background Stamp onto a panel of Bristol cardstock by coloring on the stamp with the same markers that I used on the flowers, spritzing it with water, then stamping it onto the panel. It was die-cut with the largest arched die in the Basic Die-cutting Die Set 1. I used the two largest arched dies in the same set to cut a frame from plum cardstock, then I cut the second largest arched die from vellum. The largest die in the A2 Rectangle Layering Die Set was cut from blue cardstock and the She Endured Background Stamp was stamped onto it with blue ink. All of the layers were adhered together with liquid glue and the flowers were adhered across the front of the panel.  The sentiment, from the Swanky Sentiments: Sympathy Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto plum cardstock. It was cut out with its Coordinating Die and popped up with foam tape.  That does it for me today!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope the rest of your week goes well!! Brenda

You are so extra... 3 cards session!

by Silvana Chambon on Apr 10 2024
Hello, everyone! Welcome to the Picket Fence Studios´ blog! It´s Silvana here and today I bring you a fun, mixed media style 3x1 session of cardmaking. I love when I can make multiple cards in one session and also gives me the opportunity to play with a lot of products.  First of all I want to say there´s a reel on my Instagram where you can see the process that I´m going to explain, if you are a more visual learner.  Let´s start for the background. I used two A2 pieces of watercolor paper. Over the paper I put two colors of Paper Splatter Watercolor: Liquid Turquoise Blue and Liquid Pink Blossoms.  I used a plastic bag to make the look: tied a knot on the end of the bag, put the knot in the inside, put some air on the bag, like a balloon, and tie the other end. Put some Paper splatter over a surface, tap the the part with the first knot, which is wrinkled and you will get those marks over the paper with the paper splatter. Repeat over the two pieces, and change colors.  When the pieces were dried, I used one of them and put some little details with the Polka Dot Scarf 6x8 Stencil with some black ink. After that, I looked for a piece of black cardstock and gave it some shine with the Paper Splatter: Liquid white Snowflake applied with a brayer. After that I cut it with the extra alphabet die in the new Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die . I chose some letters and glued them over the background.  I cut the background with the shadow die of the You are so extra word die. I cut that piece with the inner part of the die, the actual phrase "you are so extra". I made the same process with a piece of black cardstock:  I cut the two pieces together, centered so I obtained the phrase and the thin extra shadow. I also cut an extra piece of black cardstock with the shadow die.  Now I started to assemble the first two cards. I glued the background onto an A2 card base, then, in the shadow´s "hollow" I glued the thin black shadow, and then the word made with the background.  For the second card, I glued the thin shadow piece left from the background over the extra piece made withbthe black cardstock. Then I glued the word with black cardstock in place. I put some foam tape under the word and tape it onto an A2 card base.  I added a word and some sequins from the All about the galaxy Sequin mix.  The bonus card was made with all the leftovers: I glued the second piece of paper with the Paper Splatters on a card base and then glued the alphabet piece made with the black cardstock and white paper splatter. I put the letters in their places and chose two numbers to make a 23th birthday card. Simple but with a lot of color, contrast and shine.  I hope you enjoyed (and understood!) the process and the result!  Thanks for stopping by today. See you on my next blog post. Have a fantastic week.  Silvana
Creating a Cozy Window Scene

Creating a Cozy Window Scene

by Colleen Balija on Apr 08 2024
Hi friends!  I admire cordmakers that can create an amazing scene on their card, but I have never been able to acquire that knack. So today I want to share my way of creating a scene card that doesn't make me want to pull my hair out! Let's get started! The products that I'll be using for my card are the Floating Dreams stamp, The Right Pair of Boots stamp, Simple Plaid stencil, Basic Die Cutting Set 1, and Swanky Friendship sentiment stamp.  First, I wanted to create a wallpaper scene that you'd find in a home, so I stamped Floating Dreams stamp in black ink onto a white 5.5x4.25 card panel. Then I inked the panel in shades of yellow, moving from light in the center to darker at the edge of the card panel. I felt like the yellow resembled soft lighting reflecting from a window at dusk.  Next, I focused on the window frame using Basic Die Cutting Set 1.  I die cut the set onto a white and black card panel. I used the white card panel for the windowpanes and the black panel for the frame around the panes. The black represents the outside of the house, so to make it look a bit more realistic, I stenciled white ink onto the black panel using Simple Plaid stencil. I adhered both pieces over the wallpaper panel created earlier. I had intended to add clear acetate behind the paned windows to represent glass, but I forgot. Oh well!  The final step was to create a cozy flower box beneath the window! I stamped a sentiment from Swanky Friendships onto the white window box die and then adhered it onto the card panel with foam tape. Then I stamped, colored, and die cut several flowers from The Right Pair of Boots stamp (they were the perfect size) and tucked them in behind the flower box! I finished with glossy accents over the flower stamins!  It was so easy to create this cozy scene, and it works to bring us to a place of warmth and fondness! Grab your Picket Fence goodies and see what you can come up with for a good scene!!! Thanks for stopping by today!  To shop the products I've used, click on the product description.

Mixed Media Flowers - Sweet Cherry Blossoms

by Colleen Balija on Mar 06 2024
Hi friends! I've got a treat for you today; I got inky making a fun mixed media card! I'll be using the new Sweet Cherry Blossoms die, Polka Dot Scarf stencil, and Paper Splatters watercolor in Kiwi Lime. Also, I'll be using the existing Paper Glaze Luxe in Golden Ring, Swanky Friendship stamp, Falling Brick Wall die, Coffee Understands Again, and Gradient Flatback Pearls in Navy Blue and Charcoal Grey.  First, for you mixed media lovers, Picket Fence Studios has a plethora of design elements that can be used on your surfaces! I'm using just a sampling of it! Now, onto my card!  First step was to build the background. I applied various shades of blue and teal ink, via ink schmooshing, onto a white piece of watercolor paper. Ink schmooshing is the process of applying ink onto a glass surface, spraying it with water, and then tapping the watercolor panel into the ink. Continue this process until you've achieved the look that you want. You can see what it looks like in the photo below. For this technique, you'll want to use colors that play nice together so that you don't create "mud". Once I was finished with ink schmooshing, I added splatters of the ink over the panel, including the liquid watercolor splatters in Kiwi Lime. Then I stenciled over the surface using the Polka Dot Scarf stencil, and then stamped the scribbly heart from Coffee Understands Me Again. I kept a light touch so that you could see the images, but they also blended into the background color. Once I was finished, I trimmed the panel using my deckled paper trimmer and applied gold paste around the edges for interest. Then I adhered it to a slightly larger piece of black cardstock and adhered both to a 5.5x4.25 white card base.  Next, I worked on the Sweet Cherry Blossom dies. These are the perfect size flowers to stand alone or use with other elements! I die cut the layers for several flowers onto watercolor paper, and then applied color using the same technique as I did with the background card panel, only I went much darker in color so that the flowers popped! When the layers dried, I adhered them together and fluffed the top layers a bit to give the flowers depth.  I wanted to create a layer between the background and the flowers so that the flowers wouldn't get lost in that busy background, so I die cut Falling Brick Wall die in white cardstock and then applied Golden Ring Paper Glaze Luxe over the die. Once it was dried, I adhered it over the card base and then added the flowers and leaves over it. I added gold paste to the flowers and leaves as well. I finished with a sentiment from Swanky Friendship and several Flatback Pearls in Navy and Charcoal Grey.  Mixed media is most successful when you limit the color palette. You can play with all sorts of elements such as the paper glaze, liquid watercolor splatters, reactive inks, and various dies and stencils! It is just SO much fun to play like this, I hope you will grab your stash and give it a try!  You can find the products I've used for this card by hovering over the item name and then clicking on it. That iwll bring you to the Picket Fence Studios shop!

Hello everyone! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this Halloween card that I hope will inspire you!  To start I used the "A Magical Lot Stamps” which I stamped with the “Black Hybrid ink pad” and then painted with alcohol markers. Then to give the stamps more relief, I used the white Gelly Roll in the areas where I wanted to give shine and the black Micron Pigma in the areas where I wanted to give more depth. Below I used the “A Magical Lot Coordinating dies” to cut them out, but you can also carefully cut them out with scissors. For the background I used the “A2 Ghost House Cover Plate Die” that I cut in black cardboard and then I prepared a sunset with distress oxide inks in very typical Halloween colors. And for the sentiment I used a phrase from the “A Magical Lot Stamps” that i stamped with the “Black Hybrid ink pad”. Finally I prepared the composition, glued all the pieces and this is how the result was! I hope you like it and that it inspires you, I remember that you can find all these products and many others in the Picket Fence Studios store. A huge kiss and until next time!

Happy Friday! Eugy here, and I’m thrilled to share with you my latest creation using new products from the June release.I’ve created a newborn card using two new products: the Another Rainbow for all Seasons Die and the Glamourous Embellishment Jar. To begin with, I made a vibrant background for the card using inks and Bright Rainbow Paper Pouncers. Next, I cut out a window for the shaker from this panel using the shadow die of the rainbow dies. On the piece that served as the background, I stamped some florals using brown inks and the Million Little Things stamp. The fun part followed - filling the shaker with the Glamourous Embellishment Jar! To add depth to my creation, I cut out rainbow elements from white and silver glitter cardstock, and affixed them on the card using dimensional To finish, I stamped a sentiment from the Animal Crackers: Kind Messages set. The result is a pretty and cute card I’m absolutely in love with! I can’t wait to hear what you all think of this new release and my creative journey in making this piece.Happy crafting and have a great weekend!Eugy

June New Release Day! - Espresso Bar Table Dies

by Sammi Offield on Jun 14 2023
Happy New Release Day crafty friends! Sammi here to share a card made with the AMAZING new Scene Building: Espresso Bar Table Dies! I absolutely love this die set! I love the retro feel of the colors red and teal, so I went with that color scheme for my scene and I LOVE it! Here is how I made this card: First, I wanted a wood grained background for my wood wall, so I used the A2 Against the Grain Cover Plate die and then ink blended it with Distress inks. I edged the corners and edges with darker Distress inks to make it looked a little more aged. I then cut out the pieces in the Espresso Bar Table dies - I cut out the table, espresso machine, flower/vase, row of cups, 3 individual cups, and then the bread, donut, bananas, oranges, apple and pear. I then cut out the tier basket out of silver metallic cardstock. I then colored the smaller pieces with Copic markers and edged the espresso machine with Distress inks to make it look vintage. I then ink blended the table with Distress inks and ink edged it too. After that, I placed the table onto the card panel with some foam tape. I then started adding the espresso machine, flower/vase and cups using glue and foam tape. I then glued the fruit and breads into the tier basket and then added it to the table with glue and foam tape.  I then decided I wanted to make a poster for the wall from the new Our Finest Selection background stamp so I picked out a image from the background stamp and then cut it down to a square and matted it with some teal cardstock. I then glued it onto the background wall.  I then stamped the sentiment from the new Espresso Yourself stamp set with teal ink and then cut it down to size and added it to the card panel with foam tape and then added some bling from the All About the Teals Sequin Mix. After the card panel was complete, I glued it onto a A2 card base. Hello, fellow crafters and happy Wednesday!! Brenda here with a Father’s Day card for dad featuring several goodies from the latest release!!  I began by stamping the A Nice Cold One Stamp Set onto a panel of kraft cardstock with brown ink. I splattered it with diluted white gouache and a paint brush. Once it was dry, I trimmed it down, adhered a strip of black cardstock to each side, then adhered it to an A2 white card base.   The Happy Father’s Day Word Die was die-cut once from black cardstock and three times from heavyweight white cardstock. They were stacked and adhered together with the black layer slightly offset. It was then adhered to the front of the card. The supporting sentiment, from the Make It Dirty Stamp Set, was stamped onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. It was cut out with the Coordinating Die and popped up toward the bottom of the card with foam adhesive. I know my dad would love a nice cold one for Father’s Day!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Hello, Picket Fence friends!! Brenda here sharing a card created with one of my favorite sets from the May release!! I stamped the stunning floral image from the Million Little Things Stamp Set onto white cardstock with no-line coloring ink. I colored it with Copics, then used the Coordinating Die to cut it out. I used a yellow gel pen to add some color back in to the stamen that I lost when coloring with my Copics. For the background, I die-cut the Slim Line Pierced Blanket Cover Plate Die from white cardstock and adhered it to a slimline white card base. The floral die-cut was popped up onto the background with foam adhesive. The sentiment is also from the Million Little Things Stamp Set. It was stamped with PFS Black Hybrid Ink and cut out with the Coordinating Die. It was adhered with a combination of foam tape and liquid adhesive. A combination of Butterfly Bush, All About the Pinks and All About the Purples embellishments perfectly match the colors in the floral arrangement. That’ll do it for me today!! Be sure to check our the entire May release…it’s SOOOOOO GOOD!! Have a great Wednesday!! Brenda

Then I cut a white cardboard for one of the feathers and painted it with distress oxide inks in blue and green tones. For the background I also used the same tones, first I painted the cardboard and then I used darker colors with the "Tree bark 6x6" stencil. I did it diagonally to give the card some movement.  Finally I placed a gold strip to separate the two sides of the card. For the sentiment I used the word "Celebrate" that comes on the "A2 Full Front Shaker" die set. Finally I prepared the composition, glued all the pieces and this is how the result was! I hope you like it and that it inspires you, I remember that you can find all these products and many others in the Picket Fence Studios store. A huge kiss and until next time! Laura
