Your Friendship Is A Blessing - Million Little Things

by Brenda Noelke on May 17 2023
Hello, Picket Fence friends!! Brenda here sharing a card created with one of my favorite sets from the May release!! I stamped the stunning floral image from the Million Little Things Stamp Set onto white cardstock with no-line coloring ink. I colored it with Copics, then used the Coordinating Die to cut it out. I used a yellow gel pen to add some color back in to the stamen that I lost when coloring with my Copics. For the background, I die-cut the Slim Line Pierced Blanket Cover Plate Die from white cardstock and adhered it to a slimline white card base. The floral die-cut was popped up onto the background with foam adhesive. The sentiment is also from the Million Little Things Stamp Set. It was stamped with PFS Black Hybrid Ink and cut out with the Coordinating Die. It was adhered with a combination of foam tape and liquid adhesive. A combination of Butterfly Bush, All About the Pinks and All About the Purples embellishments perfectly match the colors in the floral arrangement. That’ll do it for me today!! Be sure to check our the entire May release…it’s SOOOOOO GOOD!! Have a great Wednesday!! Brenda

Butterfly Slim Line Shaker

Hello, fellow crafters and happy Thursday!! I hope your week is going well!! I have a fun slim line shaker card to share with you today!! I LOVE butterflies!! They can be used for so many different occasions!! I began with my background panel, so it would have adequte time to dry (although it dries really quickly). I applied Snowdrop White Paper Glaze onto a panel of white cardstock through the Slim Line A Whole Lot of Polka Dots Stencil with a palette knife. While that was drying, I stamped the sentiment, from the Baby Butterfly Beauties Stamp Set, onto white cardstock with Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Ink. I stamped some butterflies from the same set with Shaded Lilac, Kitsch Flamingo and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Inks, then die-cut the sentiment and butterflies with the Coordinating Dies. I LOVE the sentiments in this stamp set...they are so uplifting and positive!! I also die-cut the second largest die in the Nesting Ring Die Set from pink cardstock.  Next, the stenciled background panel was die-cut with the smaller rectangle die in the Slim Line Die-Cutting System Set. The Monarch Butterfly Slim Line Die-Cutting System Insert was cut from the center of the panel. I adhered acetate behind the butterfly, then added foam tape to the back of the panel. A combination of All About the Pinks, All About the Yellows and All About the Purples sequin mixes were added for the shaker bits. I adhered a small piece of white cardstock behind the opening and then adhered the panel to a slimline panel of pink cardstock that was cut from the largest Slim Line Nested Rectangles Die. The Nesting Ring Die was adhered with liquid glue, while the sentiment and butterfly die-cuts were popped up with foam tape, for even more dimension. Whew!! I know that was a long one, but shaker cards are a little more involved and take more time to explain!! Thanks for hanging in there with me!! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by today!! Have a wonderful Thursday!! Brenda

Thank You

by Lisa Tilson on Feb 16 2022
Hello there! Lisa here with you today to share a fun retro slimline card featuring the new Misshapen Stitched Circle Dies. This is a really cool set of dies, and as soon as I saw them, I thought it would be fun to embrace the misshapenness (is that even a word?!) and create a card with a funky vibe. So I picked out a palette of colours from my stash of cardstock that I thought would play well together and set about cutting them with the dies. You get eight dies to play with and I used them all for this card. The good thing is that I also have plenty left over for another card. Next I cut a 3.25" x 8.25" Neenah Solar White 80lb panel using a rectangle die from the Slim Line Die Cutting System set and started arranging the circles across the card. It took me a while to settle on a final design but once I had, I then just adhered them down using wet adhesive and trimmed off the excess from the sides. This panel was then matted onto some black cardstock and then onto a side folding slimline note card. To finish the card I took the Thank You sentiment stamp and stamped it onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I love how this pops against the other colours not only because it is black and white, but also because it is a large sentiment. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. It was then trimmed to size and added onto my panel using foam tape. Aren't the misshapen circles fun? Lots of possibilities for these as you can use them with images and on their own. Cut out of Paper Glitz panels they would be great fun! Don't forget that you can catch Nicole this evening (16th Feb) at 6.00 PM CT as she is doing a live over on the Picket Fence Community Facebook page. See you next time and happy crafting!

January 2022 Release

by Sandi MacIver on Jan 14 2022
Hey makers, welcome back, it's Sandi here and it's RELEASE DAY at Picket Fence Studios.  There are so many fabulous new products being released today and I have linked them all at the end of this post for you.I have 5 card inspirations to share with you using many of the new products.  So let's jump right in and check them out.   Picket Fence Studios NEW Release - Card #1 I combined a couple of new products for this one. Stamp the background repeatedly with the new Leaves in a Stream stamp and then create a shaker card base with it. Next, I ink blended a rainbow and stamped the new Butterfly Beauties over it.  Cut them out with the coordinating dies and added them to the top of the shaker card. Inside the shaker card I have the Spring Fling Sequin Mix mixed with the NEW Shaker Garnish in clear and soft green. Card #2 was so fun to create. Start with the New Rainbow of hearts stencil and ink blend a rainbow of colors through it.  I used Distress Oxides:  Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feather and Villainous Portion. Next, I colored this adorable teddy bear from the NEW Somebunny Loves You stamp and die combination. Card #3 - More Books & Friends This fabulous new More Books & Friends Stamp and Die Combo is so fun to create scenes with.  Great pieces to create a living room scene which I colored with my Copics. Additionally,  use the Books are Friends die to create a Library background in your reading space. I also combined the Tall Grass & Waves With Tile and Wood Floors stamp set to stamp and color my floor Finally, I used the new Flowers & Polka Dots Stencil to create the wallpaper. Card #4 - Picket Fence Studios NEW Release. The BFF girls are back.  This new BFF Girls Find Your Tribe stamp set has 4 girls, in a smaller format that previous releases, and a great selection of sentiments. Create the background by ink blending through the new Stencil and Flowers Polka Dot Stencil and overlay the NEW A2 Lattice Oval and Trimmings Dies. I added an extra bit of bling with the Celebration Sequin Mix. Card #5 - SLIMLINE WOODS I'm pretty sure this is my new favorite Slimline Die from this collection. Slimline Woods cuts out all those fabulous trees.  I cut mine from Simon's Fog cardstock. Next, ink blend the background in Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers. I decided on a afternoon light silhouette scene, so did my images in Kraft card instead of black. Finally, the sentiment is from the Fancy Daily Sentiments stamp and die set from the April 2021 release. I hope you enjoyed today's cards and links to the entire new product line are below for you.     Card Making Supplies used for the Picket Fence Studios NEW Release Cards: Here are the NEW RELEASE products.  Compensated affiliate links used  where available at no cost to you. Happy Fall Y'all

by Sandi MacIver on Aug 20 2021
Happy Fall Y'all, it's Sandi MacIver here and today I'm sharing two cards created with more new products from Picket Fence Studios August Release.  Fall is sneaking up on us quickly, too quickly it seems, which prompted me to create these two cards. So let's talk backgrounds.  In creating today's cards, I decided to focus on some fun backgrounds and two different ways to create them. Sometimes when you want to create a quick and easy card, it can look a little naked with just a couple of die cuts attached to the front right? By simply adding a tone on tone stamped background, you create depth and interest solving that problem.   Happy Fall Y'all - Slimline Card To add some "background noise" as I like to call it, I used the A Medley of Fall Collage repeating stamp. Stamp tone on tone to create this background using either a VersaMark stamp that will create a watermark look.  Or you can use a similar color ink as your background cardstock.  i.e.  in my image above, Kraft Ink on Kraft cardstock. Next, use the Misti Stamping Tool to align the repeating stamp to stamp the entire front of your slimline piece. This is a quick and easy way to add a beautiful coordinating background to your card. Cut the Prayers Word Topper Die in Mirror Gold paper and attach to card front. Finally, die cut leaves from watercolor paper, add a quick watercolor wash in fall colors and attach. To embellish, I added some Pumpkin Cookies Sequin Mix for a little bling and to frame my art pieces.  The gold sequins match my sentiment, and I love the little pumpkin images in these sequins, so fun. Cardmaking Background Idea #2 The second background idea is also easy, just not quite so quick. Take the beautiful leaf dies from Picket Fence Studios: Maple Leaves Dies Ash Leaves Dies Oak Leaves Dies Die cut them out of the same card stock as the base card. Next, glue them all over the front of the card base.   Die cut the Happy Fall Y'all Word Topper Die from Mirror Gold (love this die so much and it cut's beautifully). Again, die cut more leaves from watercolor paper, and add a quick watercolor wash in fall colors. Attach both to the card front. Finally, I'm over the moon for the Autumn Leaves Gem Mix.  These gems have many faucets cut in them and are super sparkly in beautiful colors. So, I glued them all over the front of this card in between all my background leaves.  Talk about bling, so fun.   There you go, two quick and easy ways to add depth and interest to your die cut cards.  I hope you will give both ideas a try.          used for the Picket Fence Studios Happy Fall Y'all Cards: Here are the products I used today.  Compensated affiliate links used  where available at no cost to you. Let’s Catch Up with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Jun 30 2021

Hi guys!  It’s Erica back on the PFS blog today with a card using a mix of the releases from this year. Can you believe it’s nearly July already?? Time is just absolutely flying by.  I never actually got my May release stuff in time to take part of the release day fun, that package decided to go on a holiday at the UPS facility here in Spain. It only arrived this week, if you can believe it!! The first set I wanted to use was the Nice Seeing You set, it’s so fun with the little selfies and the nod to social media, the internet and how we have been connecting this past year and a half.  With the help of my MISTI, I stamped up the image with the people with Black Hybrid ink as I wanted to do some Copic colouring. Once happy with the stamping, I left the stamp on the door of the MISTI and used the fab Stamp Scrubber to clean it. All you need is water, which is great for me because strong smells give me a headache. I am a bit rusty with skin tones though, and that showed with this card. I will keep working on it with practice, practice, practice!    Of course I coloured the clothes in a rainbow fashion, it had to be done, lol! And I used SO MANY markers for this small image! Just check out the video on the Picket Fence Studios YouTube channel if you want to see.  Below you can see the darkest of each colour I used, then I blended with lighter shades.   With the colouring done, I trimmed it down and set aside while I worked on the other bits for the card. I had originally thought to make this a bookmark, as the cellphones in the image could be kindles, you know the e-readers? Recently I’ve been going back to actually books and I need a bookmark, but that will have to be the next one of these I colour.    I had a ready made background I decided to use for the card, it’s made with the Slim Line Plaid one stencil, some Distress Oxide inks and Life Changing Blender Brushes. This stencil is so lovely and I can see myself using it for loads of projects! To add some fun interest to it, I cut it out using the smallest of the scalloped frames in the SDCS Scallop Frame set.    For the sentiment, I decided to make one with letters cut using the Seeing Double Alpha die set. This set is genius, you basically get THREE in one! You can leave the letters intact, poke out the skinny inside or use the bold outline. So cool!  I spelled out ‘Let’s catch up’ and adhered these to the card above where the coloured image was adhered. The last thing to do was to add the whole shebang to a white card base and the card was done!    If you get a chance, pop over to the YouTube channel and check out the video! If you aren’t a subscriber yet, make sure to subscribe and click that bell button so you get notifications when new videos arrive!  That’s it from me for today, thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you like the card!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Hello crafty friends! Today I'm sharing this slimline card featuring the new Cattails Die, Pond Scenery Stamp and dies, Drop by to Say Bye Croak Stamp and dies and Slimline Trees Silhouette Cover Plate Die. Let's start this tutorial! I die cut a piece of cardstock using the Slim Line Die Cutting System and applied ink using the Life Changing Blender Brushes and once it was dry I adhered a slimline folded card base at the back.  Then, I stamped the images from Drop by to Say Bye Croak Stamp and Pond Scenery Stamps using Gingerbread hybrid ink from Scrapbook.com and I colored them with Copic markers. I die cut these images using the coordinating dies.  Additionally, I die cut the  Cattails Die out of white cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. Next, I stamped the sentiment using Black hybrid ink from Picket Fence Studios on my background panel. Also, I placed the Cattails and the Pond Scenery image die cuts previously colored on the panel as well using glue. Finally, I die cut the Trees Silhouette Cover Plate three times to create more dimension and glued them one on top of each other. I applied inks to the cover plate using the Life Changing Blender Brushes and placed it on top of my background panel, then I added the frogs around and this slimline card was finished.   Hope you like this card and get some inspiration. List of supplies are found at the bottom. Have a wonderful weekend!  Your friend, Karen
