Have a Great Day - Oversized Tropical Leaf Die

by Colleen Balija on Apr 29 2024
Hi friends! Colleen here today sharing a pretty and very simple card using new release products Oversize Tropical Leaf die, Fern & Leaf dies, Salutations Sentiments, and from a previous release Paper Glaze Luxe in Twinkle Lights Gold, Pierce Blanket Cover die plate, and Gradient Pearls in Grass Green and Soft Copper. Let's get started! This was a very easy card to pull together! I die cut the Oversized Tropical Leaf die (it's HUGE) using an alcohol inked card panel that I had set aside. Then I die cut a piece of white cardstock using the Pierce Blanket cover die plate.  TIP: You could easily enhance the look of this large and bold leaf die by embossing it with the Pierced die cover plate or your favorite PFS cover plate! I trimmed the white die cut panel down and placed it over a larger piece of black cardstock. Then I adhered both onto an A2 sized white card base. You can see the piercing in the photo above! Adding embossing to a white card panel adds texture and interest! Finally, I adhered the die cut oversized leaf onto the pierced panel at an angle. Then I added a sentiment from the new Salutations Sentiments, popped up on foam tape for dimension. I die cut 4 of the Fern & Leaf dies, added Paper Glaze in Twinkle Lights Gold over it, and then adhered them around the sentiment. I finished with Gradient Pearls at the tips of each of the little leaves!  TIP: I like to create colorful card panel using different media and set them aside for future use like with this card! You can easily do this with PFS Paper Glazes and Liquid Splatters! Give it a try!  To shop the products used in this post, click on the description of the product in the first paragraph of this post. Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda here with a colorful card featuring the Dear Summer Loving Stamp Set from the newest release!! I know I would be having a great day if I was frolicking in the ocean like this sweet girl!! I started by stamping the images from the Dear Summer Loving Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored them with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen then used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out. For the background, I added Sea Glass - Blue Paper Glaze Glass to a panel of Ocean Breeze Blue Card Stock using the Ocean Waves Stencil. Once dry, I trimmed it down and adhered it to an A2 panel of cardstock from the Beach Paradise Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Front Set. The adorable girl was adhered to the background with liquid glue, while the die-cut fish were popped up with foam tape. The sentiment is from the Swanky Sentiments: Salutations Stamp Set. It was stamped onto white cardstock with burnt orange ink, cut out with the Coordinating Die and popped up with foam tape. Sequins from the Tropical Breeze Sequin Mix adds a bit of shine draws your eye to the sentiment, That'll do it for me today!! Thanks so much for spending a bit of your Tuesday with me!! Brenda

The Sound of the Sea Helps Tides Rise

by Brenda Noelke on Apr 15 2024
Happy Monday, Picket Fence friends!! Brenda here with a shaker card created with goodies from the Ocean Odyssey Release that just dropped yesterday!! Such a fantastic release!! My card today features the Seahorses of the Sea Stamp Set & Coordinating Dies, the Beachcomber Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Fronts!! I started much like I do most cards, by stamping the seahorse from the Seahorses of the Sea Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored him with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen and used the Coordinating Die to cut him out.   Next, I created my shaker by die-cutting a panel of cardstock from the Beachcombing Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Fronts with the smallest rectangle die in the A2 Rectangle Layering Die Set and cutting an oval with a die in the Basic Die Cutting Set 1 Die Set. Can we just take a moment to appreciate how stunning this cardstock is?!? So beautiful!! I adhered the oval in the center of a panel of burnt orange cardstock that was cut out with the largest die in the A2 Rectangle Layering Die Set. Acetate and foam tape were adhered to the front panel, Tropical Breeze Sequins were added for the shakers and the layers were adhered together.  The sentiment is also from the Seahorses of the Sea Stamp Set. Not only does the sound of the sea help the tides rise...it totally relaxes me!! The sentiment was stamped onto white cardstock with burnt orange ink and cut out with the Coordinating Die. The seahorse and sentiment were adhered to the front of the card with liquid glue and this card was complete. I LOVE these colors and who doesn't love a shaker card?!? Be sure to check out the fabulous Ocean Odyssey Release in the shop!! Thank you so much for spending part of your Monday with me!! Have a great week!! Brenda

Hello, fellow crafters and happy Wednesday!! Brenda here with a card featuring The Right Pair of Boots Stamp Set from the Botanical Blooms Release!! If you know me at all, you know that I am obsessed with shoes...especially boots, so this set is right up my alley!! Combine a boot with flowers and I couldn't love it more!! I stamped image from The Right Pair of Boots Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink and colored with with Copic markers. I used the smallest die in the A2 Rectangles Layering Die Set to cut it out and adhered it to a panel of black cardstock that was cut with the next largest die in the same set. Next, I die-cut the Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die (bonus...this comes with a complete alphabet set) from a panel of paper in the Cotton Candy Clouds Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Fronts Pack (this complimented my flowers perfectly) and adhered it to a white card base. The two rectangle layers were adhered to the background. The sentiment is also from The Right Pair of Boots Stamp Set. It was white heat embossed onto black cardstock, fussy cut and popped up with foam tape. To finish, I added dots to the centers of some of the flowers with a yellow gel pen. I LOVE how this turned out!! In fact, I have a pair of boots just like this...minus the flowers, of course!!  Thanks so much for stopping by!! I appreciate your time!! Brenda

Hello, friends & happy Monday!! I hope you had a great weekend!! Brenda here with a floral friendship card featuring some of the goodies from the latest Botanical Blooms Release!! I started by die-cutting the Garden Topper Die two times from white cardstock. I colored one of them with Copic markers, then adhered the white one behind it for added stability. The window frame from the Basic Die Cutting Die Set 1 was cut from gray cardstock, along with a 4.25” wide strip.  Next, I drew the outside of the window frame onto a panel from the Clouds of Dreams Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Fronts, trimmed it down and adhered it to the back of the window. The Scene Building: Falling Brick Wall Die was cut two times from light gray cardstock. They were adhered to a panel of white cardstock that was cut with the largest die in the A2 Rectangles Layering Die Set and the excess was trimmed from each side. The window and flowers were adhered to the background panel and it was adhered to a white A2 card base, all with liquid glue. The sentiment, from the Like A Wildflower Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto the strip of gray cardstock. It was adhered across the bottom of the flowers to complete the card. Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda here with you on this frigid Monday!! I hope you are staying safe and warm!! My goodness, is it cold outside!! It's the perfect weather to stay inside and do some baking, unless one of your resolutions is to cut back on sweets. In that case, I have the perfect solution...paper cookies!! Ha!! The newest January Release is chock-full of yummy cakes, cookies and treats to make your cards absolutely delicious!! I began by die-cutting the cookies and frosting bags in the Scene Building: Cookie Making Die Set from cream, white, red and pink cardstock. This set is so versatile!! There are so many dies to customize your cookies for different occasions!! The cookie sheet was cut from frosted silver cardstock. I added a bit of blending around the outside the cookies with brown ink and a Life Changing Blender Brush. I adhered all of the elements together and adhered the cookies to the pan with liquid glue, then added highlights with a white gel pen. For the background, I blended red and pink dye inks onto the first four layers of the Sprinkles 6x8 Layering Stencil Set with Life Changing Blender Brushes. I spread pink glaze in the Paper Glaze Velvet Soft Pastel Sampler Set onto the final layer with a palette knife. Once dry, I trimmed it slightly and adhered it to an A2 panel of red cardstock. The cookie sheet was adhered with liquid glue and the frosting bags were adhered with a combination of liquid glue at the tip and foam tape toward the opening of each bag. I trimmed the excess from the right side. The sentiment, from the Lick the Bowl Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto pink cardstock and trimmed into a narrow strip. It was popped up toward the bottom of the card with foam adhesive to finish it off. Be sure to check out the entire January Release in the shop!! It will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth!! Christmas Countdown - Let It Snow

by Brenda Noelke on Dec 12 2022

Hello, friends and welcome back for another day of Christmas Countdown inspiration!! Brenda here with a winter stenciled and die-cut card!! I absolutely LOVE snowflakes and couldn’t wait to use the Falling Snowflakes Stencil with some Paper Glaze!!   I usually start with the focal point when I sit down to create a card, but in this case I started with the background. I spread Turquoise Jewelry Paper Glaze Luxe onto heavyweight white cardstock through the Falling Snowflakes Stencil with a palette knife. I also spread some Pink Tinsel Paper Glaze Velvet onto another panel of heavyweight white cardstock. I set the two panels aside to dry.  Once they were dry, I trimmed the snowflake panel slightly and adhered it to an A2 white card base. I die-cut the Let It Snow Word Die from the pink panel and cut it two more times from heavyweight white cardstock. I stacked and adhered the white layers together, adhered them behind the pink one, slightly offset, then added them to the center of the card.  A snowflake was die-cut from white glitter cardstock using a die from the Jolly Good Rainbow Die Set. I adhered it in the center of the “o”, then stacked an iridescent and clay snowflake from the Candied Snow Sequin Mix Plus on top. I love this color combo!! I wish you could see all of the sparkle and texture!! Thank you so much for hanging out with me for a bit!! Have a wonderful day!!

Seasonal Christmas Flowers Poinsettia Cards

by Brenda Noelke on Sep 22 2022
Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda here with my first blog post as a member of the talented & amazing design team!! I’m super excited to be able to share some of my creations with Picket Fence products!! I’ve always been a huge fan!! I’ve really been enjoying creating with the latest September release!! One of the first sets that caught my eye was the stunning Seasonal Christmas Flowers Stamp Set!! The poinsettia is such an iconic holiday symbol and I couldn’t wait to color these!! I began by stamping all of the images in the Seasonal Christmas Flowers Stamp Set with Black Hybrid Ink. After coloring them with Copic markers, I cut them out with the Coordinating Die Set. I’ve always loved the contrast of black with bright red poinsettias, so I trimmed a panel of black cardstock to 4” x 5.25”. I adhered the leaves and holly with liquid glue and popped the poinsettias up with foam tape. I diluted some Snowdrop White Glaze with water and splattered it over the panel and poinsettias with a paint brush.   Once that was dry, I adhered it to a panel of white cardstock, then an A2 panel of red cardstock, before adhering it to my card base. The sentiments, from the Swanky Christmas Sentiment Set, were white heat embossed onto black cardstock, then cut out with the Coordinating Dies. I love these fonts!! They were also popped up with foam tape. For the finishing touches, I dotted some Golden Sparkle Paper Glitz onto the centers of the poinsettias with a stylus and added a combination of Dancing Reindeer & A Classic Christmas sequin mixes.   Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me!! Have a great Thursday and I’ll see you soon!! Brenda

Magical Christmas Shaker!

by Sasha Omoniala on Sep 15 2022
Hello Lovely Crafty Friends, I am Sasha and I am so very honoured to be bringing you this blog post. This is my first time on the blog so please bare with me. I am OBSESSED with shaker cards, honestly I can’t get enough of them!I am equally obsessed with the Picket Fence Studios sequin mixes so a card that features both is perfect! Make sure to check out the reel on the PFS Instagram to get a better idea of this   I like to call this type of shaker a floating edge shaker because it is fully transparent, let me know in the comments if you think it should be called something else.I started off by taking a DL plastic card/poly bag. The bag measures 10.5’ long x 4.5’ wide. I cut the card bag down to 6’ long, the width remains the same. I then cut a 6’ long x 4.5’ wide piece of acetate which will go inside the poly bag to add stability. TIP: if the acetate piece doesn’t fit inside the bag, just cut a sliver of it off. I splattered the acetate with white acrylic paint then I stuck down a few sequins from the gorgeous plum pudding mix. Whilst that dried, I took a 5’ x 7’ card base and used the A2 Evergreens on a Hill cover plate to cut the card base down to about 4’ long. I then cut out 4 other die cuts of this cover plate. I ink blended 2 of the die cuts with some Prize ribbon and Wilted Violet distress oxides to create some snowy To assemble the card, I put the acetate into the poly bag then added a bit of the plum pudding sequins before sealing it with double sided tape. I then stuck it down to the  inside of the back part of the card base. To cover the tape,  I stuck down one of the 4 cover plate panels over the taped area. To the front of the card I took a Santa’s Sleigh Ride snow globe die cut and cut it up so that the sleigh was separate from the houses. I stuck the houses down on the bottom part of the card, in front of the white trees then I propped up the ink blended panel on some foam tape and stuck that over I finished the card off with the ink blended greetings die cut on the front the snowy trees and the ink blended sleigh over the acetate. I think this is a fun way to create a shaker card. It’s so super light and not bulky at all but most importantly it is magical with all those beautiful sequins! There will be a reel over on the PFS Instagram showing another example of an edge shaker and a Full Video Tutorial on my YouTube channel LOVE BUIlDS UP CRAFTS on Friday. Hope to see you there!  Crafty hugs, Sasha x
