CAS Paper Glitz Nativity Scene with Rachelle

Hello! It’s Rachelle here and I’ve got a CAS Christmas Card to share with you today featuring Paper Glitz blending and the NEW Nativity Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert! This card would be so easy to mass produce and the two-toned Paper Glitz background is perfect against this peaceful die cut nativity scene. I began by spreading quarter-sized dollops of “Snow Drifts” and “Fall Golds” Paper Glitz onto a piece of 100# white card stock. I ran my offset palette knife across it several times to soften the edge where the two colors met. There was a bit of color blending in that area and that’s the effect I was going for in this scene. Here’s a shot of the Paper Glitz panel once it was dry – that shine is amazing! I cut a 4” x 5.25” panel of white card stock and centered the Nativity Insert Die into the top portion using my clear ruler to finalize the position. Once the interior pieces were removed from the die cut, I heat embossed the large sentiment from the “Joyeux Noel” Stamp Set underneath the scene with gold powder. I love all the different fonts in this large sentiment set – there’s something for every single winter occasion! I backed the Nativity scene with a small piece of the Paper Glitz panel, allowing the gold area to highlight the figures inside of the stable and then blend up to the turquoise night sky. This panel was backed with a piece of craft foam for dimension and attached to the center of a top-folding A2 card base. Using one of the smaller dies that comes with the Nativity Insert Die Set, I cut a Christmas star from the “Fall Golds” Paper Glitz area and attached it to the card front above the scene to finish up the card.   Thanks so much for joining me today and head over the Picket Fence Studios' Shop to check out all of the other amazing products from the latest release! Happy crafting and have a wonderful day! Rachelle

Recap of 7 In 7 live with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Jul 20 2021

Hello, helloooooo!  It’s a very tired, and still covered in Paper Glaze, Erica on the blog today with a recap of yesterday’s 7 In 7 live in the Picket Fence Studio Community group. If you are not a member yet, you can ask to join and then catch the replay. It should come as no surprise that I went on a steady roll with Paper Glaze, I am probably its no1 fan ever. The stack of ready made backgrounds and panels I have from play sessions confirm this.  I showed a few of my fave techniques, including Paper Glaze Printing, which is a two-in-one. You start by putting your choices of Paper Glaze over a stencil, then you ‘print’ by putting a sheet of paper/cardstock on top and pressing down firmly. Once you have removed this, you pick up your stencil and ta-da: two fab backgrounds done in one fell swoop.  These are done with the Reverse Leaf Stencil, and Paper Glaze in Black Pansy, Fern Green, Leaf Green, Lime Zinnia and Jade Vine. Oh, and a bit of Golden Rose! Make sure to use a new mixed media tool for each colour to avoid contamination. If you are fast, you can even get a third print by pressing your stencil on cardstock! It’s another way to get even more out of your supplies. And we all like that a lot, don’t we?  Another fun way to use this fab stuff is with the butterfly stencils. Instead of ink blending, use Paper Glaze for insane shimmer and texture! I didn’t finish any cards with these during the live, but that’s ok. Something to finish another day. I smoothed Snowdrop White Paper Glaze down over the Flutter stencil first, and the card stock is black. Then I added Agapantha Purple, Cornflower Blue and Pink Peony for colour. A bit of Golden Rose got added too, because gooooooold.  To make sure I didn’t waste that excess Paper Glaze, I slapped that Flutter Stencil onto white card stock and printed by pressing it down into the paper. It didn’t make a perfect butterfly imprint, but it can always be trimmed down to be on a background or something.  If you want to make your own shimmer card stock, grab your fave colour of Paper Glaze and some card stock. Both coloured and white will work, but if you do it on black I’d suggest you start with a bit of Black Pansyz` first. It makes the second colour spread easier and the black makes it pop. It sounds nuts, but it’s true!  To show you how well it works, and the difference in texture if you add Paper Glaze Enhancer, I did one on black card stock, one on white card stock and the third is done with Paper Glaze Enhancer  on white card stock. It can be so useful to have samples of how they look, especially if you are very visual, like me. I like seeing things in person before I decide what I like, and I like being able to compare stuff side by side.  So, whilst there isn’t a single finished card in this post, I sure had fun during the live and I hope you get a chance to watch the replay and maybe pick up a thing or two that you didn’t know about Paper Glaze already.  Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Hello! It's Michelle here today, and I'm sharing a card I made using a die, a stencil, a sequin mix and Paper Glitz. I used Distress Oxide inks to create the sunset in the background, and then used part of the Handcut Snowflake 6x6 Stencil and some Paper Glitz Sparkle to create the pattern in the sky. I used the Santa's Snowy Hills die to create the three tiers of snowy hills, and ink blended with some blue ink to create dimension between them. I finished with a stamped sentiment, and some snowflake shaped sequins from the Icicles sequin mix. Have you seen our 7 in 7 event on Facebook? We have 7 free classes over 7 days! Drop by the Picket Fence Studios Community page on Facebook at 6pm CDT (that's 9am AEST for my Aussie friends)  A $50 gift card to PFS shop will be given to one lucky person from the comments in each live video, each day. Release Day! The July 2021 Release is AVAILABLE NOW!

by Larisa Hohman on Jul 14 2021
Hello!  Larisa here and guess what...it's Release Day!!!!!  This month is packed with so many must-have products; you do not want to miss it!  Best of all, everything is AVAILABLE in The Shop NOW!  Be sure to head over there to check it out!   Today, I'm sharing several Halloween cards made with just a hand-full of all the new goodies!  All Hallow's Eve is just around the corner and this release is sure to scare up some fun!   For my first card, I created a quick and easy shaker using acetate and my sewing machine.  I stamped out this ghost image from the Not Scared You Should Be Stamp set and fussy cut it out.  Then I adhered it on top of some clear acetate.  I sewed that to the top of some orange patterned paper in my stash and before closing it up completely I filled it with some of the new Midnight Tales Sequins Mix. Then I added my sentiment and that's it.  Such a quick and easy way to create a shaker, but still makes a big impact!   This next card features the new Spider Web Cover Plate Die.  This die is so intricate and creates a total wow factor on your projects.  To create my card, I started with a piece of black card stock.  I die cut the spider web from white glitter paper and adhered it the black.  Then I stamped out and colored up Lexi Girl.  I used the coordinating die to cut her out and then I layered her on top of my web.  Across the bottom of the card I added some strips of patterned paper and layered my sentiment on top.  To finish the card off, I added a fun sentiment from the Not Scared You Should Be Clear Stamp Set.  I just love how this turned out!   My final card features the cutest little monsters.  These not-so-scary guys are part of the new You Creep Me Out Clear Stamp Set.  To create my card, I used the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System.  After cutting the layered out of patterned paper and card stock.  I layered it all together, creating three shaker windows down the center of the card.  I used the NEW Trick Or Treaters Sequin Mix Plus.  It is a Must Have!  Then I stamped out my images, colored them up with Copics, and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  Using foam tape, I popped them onto my card and added a few of the bat die cut from the Slim Line Die Cutting System Witch Insert.  Finally, I added my sentiment across the middle and there you have it.   You Creep Me Out Clear Stamp Set Slim Line Funky Christmas Envelopes You Creep Me Out Coordinating Dies Slim Line Die Cutting System Witch Insert Not Scared You Should Be Spider Web Cover Plate Die Midnight Tales Sequins Mix Plus Trick Or Treaters Sequins Mix Plus Scallop Framed Slim Line Die Cutting System Lexi Girl Lexi Girl Coordinating Die   Gem Pick Up Tool Black Hybrid Ink Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!

Party at the Pond

by Sandi MacIver on Jul 09 2021
Hey cardmaking friends, Sandi MacIver here and today I have P Party at the Pond to share with you created with the Drop by to say Croak stamp set. This is one of my Favorites from the June release and they are so fun to color. Creating the Slimline Card for A day at the Pond: Cut the card base from Hammermill white, 7 x -1/2, score and fold at 3-1/2. Die cut the card front using the Slim Line Nested Rectangles Dies. I love the fine stitched detail the die provides around the edge of the piece. (you need two of these). Next, use the circle die from the Scallop Frames Die set and cut three circles across the card front. Lay the circles piece over the second card front and lightly mark the outside of the circles with a pencil. Use the Life Changing Blending Brushes to add Mermaid Lagoon and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Inks where the circles will overlay.  This creates the sky and the pond for the card. Trim that back piece slightly before gluing them together. Creating the Pond Scene Die cut the Slim line short tall grass die in green for across the bottom front. Die cut the Cattails Die and watercolor. Cut the cat tails into 3 pieces and attach them to the card front, sliding the bottom section in behind the circles in front.  Allow the tops to stick outside the circles. Glue the grass down along the front bottom. Use the Misti stamping tool to stamp the frogs onto white card, color with copics and die cut them out. Use foam squares to attach them to the card front, one in each circle. White heat emboss the sentiment onto a scrap of black card and attach across the middle. Embellish with purple and green sequins P.S.  This cute card is sitting on a Green Slimline Envelope also from Picket Fence Studios Copics Used : Greens:  YG01, YG03, YG07, YG23, YG67 Purples:  V4, V5, V12 Blue:  BG13 Below you will find a list of products I used in today's card.  Affiliate links used where possible.   Thanks so much for stopping in, and hope you find time to create today

Merry And Bright - A CAS Christmas Card For Mass Production

by Lisa Tilson on Jul 07 2021
Hello everyone, Lisa here today with a clean and simple Christmas card for you. We all know that it can be a struggle to make all those Christmas cards so here's one that is really easy to duplicate so you can avoid that mad rush in November! I started off by die cutting Snowflake Lydia and one of the snowflakes from Winter Snowflakes (such a pretty set!). I then cut some very very narrow red, green and white strips of cardstock. These strips of cardstock were adhered onto a side folding A2 base card. The section of strips was just over an inch wide (there were 9 tiny coloured strips). They would also look good horizontally I think. I then cut two pieces of white cardstock and popped them up with foam tape over the base card, so that the coloured strips are inset behind those two white panels. Super easy isn't it? I adhered Lydia Snowflake over the two panels and one of the smaller Winter Snowflakes on top of Lydia. I finished with a gem stone from Fire Gem Mix for a little bit of bling. The sentiment is from Inside Quotes: Christmas and this was stamped to the side using Black Hybrid Ink. So you can see how this would be really quick to mass produce. I hope that this gives you some inspiration for starting you cards early - it is Christmas in July after all!

Hello!  It's Sara, from Much Love, Sara.  Today's card features the new I'll Always Pick You Stamp Set, along with the new My Bike and I Stamp.   The bike image is super adaptable to whatever genre of card you are making, and because the image is a "loose" style drawing, your coloring doesn't need to be fancy.  This image works well with "messier" coloring, or even watercoloring.

Let’s Catch Up with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Jun 30 2021

Hi guys!  It’s Erica back on the PFS blog today with a card using a mix of the releases from this year. Can you believe it’s nearly July already?? Time is just absolutely flying by.  I never actually got my May release stuff in time to take part of the release day fun, that package decided to go on a holiday at the UPS facility here in Spain. It only arrived this week, if you can believe it!! The first set I wanted to use was the Nice Seeing You set, it’s so fun with the little selfies and the nod to social media, the internet and how we have been connecting this past year and a half.  With the help of my MISTI, I stamped up the image with the people with Black Hybrid ink as I wanted to do some Copic colouring. Once happy with the stamping, I left the stamp on the door of the MISTI and used the fab Stamp Scrubber to clean it. All you need is water, which is great for me because strong smells give me a headache. I am a bit rusty with skin tones though, and that showed with this card. I will keep working on it with practice, practice, practice!    Of course I coloured the clothes in a rainbow fashion, it had to be done, lol! And I used SO MANY markers for this small image! Just check out the video on the Picket Fence Studios YouTube channel if you want to see.  Below you can see the darkest of each colour I used, then I blended with lighter shades.   With the colouring done, I trimmed it down and set aside while I worked on the other bits for the card. I had originally thought to make this a bookmark, as the cellphones in the image could be kindles, you know the e-readers? Recently I’ve been going back to actually books and I need a bookmark, but that will have to be the next one of these I colour.    I had a ready made background I decided to use for the card, it’s made with the Slim Line Plaid one stencil, some Distress Oxide inks and Life Changing Blender Brushes. This stencil is so lovely and I can see myself using it for loads of projects! To add some fun interest to it, I cut it out using the smallest of the scalloped frames in the SDCS Scallop Frame set.    For the sentiment, I decided to make one with letters cut using the Seeing Double Alpha die set. This set is genius, you basically get THREE in one! You can leave the letters intact, poke out the skinny inside or use the bold outline. So cool!  I spelled out ‘Let’s catch up’ and adhered these to the card above where the coloured image was adhered. The last thing to do was to add the whole shebang to a white card base and the card was done!    If you get a chance, pop over to the YouTube channel and check out the video! If you aren’t a subscriber yet, make sure to subscribe and click that bell button so you get notifications when new videos arrive!  That’s it from me for today, thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you like the card!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Beautiful Girl Sandra Summer Shaker

by Larisa Hohman on Jun 23 2021
Hello! Larisa here and today I'm sharing a very bright and festive shaker card.  This beauty features Beautiful Girl Sandra!  I've paired her with the NEW City Lights Sequin mix as well as the Wave Sun Stencil.  This card just screams SUMMER to me!   To create my card, I started with a piece of yellow card stock.  I stenciled my sun pattern onto it using my Life Changing Blender Brushes and some Orange Distress Oxide Ink.  Then I trimmed it to fit an A2 sized card and mounted it onto a piece of hot pink card stock.  I used my sewing machine to stitch on some tulle and filled it with sequins before stitching it closed  Then I stamped out my image, colored her up with Copics, and cut her out using the coordinating dies.  Using some foam tape and hot glue, I added her to the center of my card panel.  Then I added a stitched paper ribbon just under her and layered my "just because" sentiment on top.  I just love how this turned out.  It's sure to brighten someone's day!   Products Used:   More Fancy Sentiments More Fancy Sentiments Coordinating Dies Beautiful Girls Sandra Sandra Girl Coordinating Die Wave Sun Stencil Sequin Mix City of Lights   Gem Pick Up Tool Black Hybrid Ink Life Changing Blender Brushes

Hello crafty friends! Today I'm sharing this slimline card featuring the new Cattails Die, Pond Scenery Stamp and dies, Drop by to Say Bye Croak Stamp and dies and Slimline Trees Silhouette Cover Plate Die. Let's start this tutorial! I die cut a piece of cardstock using the Slim Line Die Cutting System and applied ink using the Life Changing Blender Brushes and once it was dry I adhered a slimline folded card base at the back.  Then, I stamped the images from Drop by to Say Bye Croak Stamp and Pond Scenery Stamps using Gingerbread hybrid ink from Scrapbook.com and I colored them with Copic markers. I die cut these images using the coordinating dies.  Additionally, I die cut the  Cattails Die out of white cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. Next, I stamped the sentiment using Black hybrid ink from Picket Fence Studios on my background panel. Also, I placed the Cattails and the Pond Scenery image die cuts previously colored on the panel as well using glue. Finally, I die cut the Trees Silhouette Cover Plate three times to create more dimension and glued them one on top of each other. I applied inks to the cover plate using the Life Changing Blender Brushes and placed it on top of my background panel, then I added the frogs around and this slimline card was finished.   Hope you like this card and get some inspiration. List of supplies are found at the bottom. Have a wonderful weekend!  Your friend, Karen

Hey crafty friends, Sandi MacIver here and welcome back.  Today I'm sharing a New video on how to create the A Whale of a Slimline Card.  I'm using products from the June Release and I have them listed at the end of this post for you. The background for this card is created using the Life Changing Blending Brushes and blending Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean. Next, I laid the Slim Line Rising Sun Stencil over it and blended Squeezed Lemonade to create the rays of sun. For the ocean floor, I used copic markers to color the You Were Mermaid for Me ocean floor image.  Cut them out and glued them in place. and the lovely Whale is from the "A Fishy Lot" stamp and Die bundle and he is die cut out and color blended around his edges. Salty & Sassy! But also super sweet...!

by Lisa Tilson on Jun 16 2021
Hello everyone, Lisa here and today I am sharing a card made with the super cute Mermaid Dear which is one of my favourite sets from the latest release. Isn't she just adorable? Whenever I use Paper Glaze, I do my background first to give it time to dry whilst I work on the other elements. So to start, I took the Slim Line Gradiant Stencil and secured it down over a white A2 panel. Although this is a slim line stencil, as I am only covering a portion of the card, it works perfectly! Next, I took two of the colours from Paper Glaze Ombre Sky Blues - I used colours A and B and put a small amount of each down onto my media mat. I then took an equal amount of Paper Glaze Enhancer and mixed it into each colour. I applied them through the stencil using a spatula and going from bottom up, dark to light. I just love the texture you get using the enhancer in with the glaze and those blues are so pretty! Whilst it was drying, I took the Mermaid Dear image and stamped her onto Neenah Solar White 80lb card using Black Hybrid Ink. I coloured her with Copics and then fussy cut her with the coordinating die. I coloured her in colours that would match with the City Lights Sequin Mix, so it all ties together nicely :). I popped her up onto the stencilled panel using foam tape. To finish the card I stamped a greeting from the set onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white detail embossing powder and heat set it. This was then trimmed out and also popped up with foam tape.  And then of course, there has to be a little bit of sparkle, so I added some shimmer onto the fish and the mermaid's tail using and then a few coordinating sequins from City Lights Sequin Mix. The whole panel was then added to an A2 card base using double sided tape. I love how this card came together particularly as I always enjoy time spent with Paper Glaze.Throw in a beautiful not-too-much-colouring image and you are good to go! Thanks for stopping by, see you all soon.

Many Blessings

by Angela Bode on Jun 11 2021
Hello! I have a fun selection of cards to share with you today, but first, allow me to wish you Many Blessings! I have enjoyed sharing my Picket Fence Studios designs with you for three years!   So first up, I took a yellow and green distress ink background from my stash.  I placed the Zing Butterfly stencil over it then I ink blended pink distress ink with my fabulous LC Blender Brushes.  The sentiment is from Que Sera Sera and lastly I added Vegas Baby Sequins on the body of the butterfly. Next up is a card I created using Gold Rose Paper Glaze and Paper Glaze Enhancer!  I spread the Paper Glaze Enhanced mixture over cardstock and let it dry.  Once the Paper Glaze was dry, I die-cut the SLDCS Mushroom Fields Insert and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the fancy layer cut with the SLDC Scallop Frame set.  I think the scallop adds such a pretty finishing touch to any layer!  Behind the mushrooms, I created a colorful sky with the 52 Layers of Clouds. Lastly, you will always inspire me!  I heat embossed the gorgeous Tropical Hibiscus Bouquet and then colored it with watercolor.  One thing I love about so many of the Picket Fence Studios floral designs is the little droplets in the flower designs!   The sentiment I used is also part of the Tropical Hibiscus Bouquet. Picket Fence Studios is such an innovative company, there is far more to share than I can post today so you might want to browse the store!  Click HERE to shop everything from stamps & dies to mix mediums!
