Leaves Falling for You

by Colleen Balija on Jul 25 2024
Hi friends! It's Colleen here and I get so excited when fall designs come out each year! When Picket Fence Studios released a stamp called Leaves Falling for You, I knew that I needed to get my hands on it! My card today uses Leaves Falling for You stamp and die set, Pinking Sheer Cover Plate die, Paper Glaze Luxe Golden Ring paste, A Whole Lot of Polka Dots stencil, and Liquid Paper Splatters. I have been seeing lots of cards with black backgrounds with vibrant focal points, so I decided to go with that theme for this card! I started with the background, adding Golden Ring paste through the polka dot stencil onto a piece of black cardstock. I set that aside to dry. Next, I created a colorful background panel by mixing Liquid Paper Splatter with water and then ink schmooshing it onto a piece of watercolor paper. The colors used were Kiwi Lime, Yellow Sunshine, Liquid Gold, Turquoise Blue, and Pink Blossom. I started with the lightest color and moved to the darker ones, drying each layer before adding more color. For the darkest colors (Turquoise and Pink Blossom), I just splattered that over the colored card panel so that the dark colors wouldn't take over the card panel. I wanted a light and fallish look to my leaves!  Once the color from my ink schmooshing was to my liking, I stamped the leaves over the colored panel and heat embossed them with gold powder. Then I die cut each leaf.  I die cut the Pinking Sheer die to create a frame and adhered it over the background panel with the gold polka dots. Then I added foam tape to the larger leaves and placed them onto the background panel along with the smaller leaves. I finished with a sentiment from the Leaves Falling for You stamp set, which was also heat embossed in gold.  I love how everything is dark except for that bright pop of color from the leaves! It really makes them pop off the page! The gold adds dimension and texture that brings it all together. To shop the items used on this post, click on the description to be taken to the PFS shop. Lots of Thanks: Coloring Diecuts with Copics

by Andrea Shell on Jul 23 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea with you, and today I'm sharing a colorful card featuring some new products from Picket Fence Studios' July release. I am loving the fall vibe of this release! I couldn't resist this cute squirrel from the Layered Fauna: For the Love of Mushrooms Squirrel Die! Isn't he adorable?! I diecut the base from white cardstock and the detail layer from several colors of cardstock. I added shading to the detail pieces with Copic markers before gluing them to the white base. That awesome background is from the new Autumn Scenery Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts. I chose to frame it with the Trees Silhouette Cover Plate A2 Die, which I cut from white cardstock and colored with Copics. The grass is from the Scene Building: Grass Tufts Die. I diecut it from white cardstock and colored it with Copics, also. I adhered my background panel to a cardbase and attached the trees and grass with foam tape. I stamped a sentiment from the Freckled Friends: Penelope Pumpkin stamp set with gray ink and diecut it with the coordinating dies. I glued the sentiment to my card and popped up my colored image with foam, finishing with some white highlights. Thanks for stopping by! Fall into Autumn with the July 2024 Release

by Brenda Noelke on Jul 22 2024
Welcome to the July 2024 Release and Instagram Giveaway!! This month is all about celebrating the autumn season with plenty of fall goodies to sink your teeth into!! Come along, fall into autumn and join us over on Instagram for tons of inspiration and a chance to win a $50 GC to the Picket Fence Shop!! Brenda here with you today!! I'm sharing a card that features some of my favorites from the release!! Who am I kidding? It was so difficult to choose favorites...it's all SO GOOD!! I started by creating the backgrounds to die-cut my leaves from using alcohol inks on panels of alcohol ink cardstock. Once the panels were dry, I die-cut the Layering Flora: Fall Foliage Dies from them. I love the variation of color that the alcohol inks give the leaves!! I used the inner die-cuts for my card and saved the outline die-cuts for a future project. The leaves were die-cut again from holographic gold cardstock and I used the outline from these. For the background, I trimmed a panel of white cardstock and dry embossed it with the Flowing 6x8 Stencil by running it through my die-cut machine with an embossing mat. I splattered it with Liquid Gold Watercolor Paper Splatter that was slightly diluted with water. Once dry, it was adhered to a panel of gingham paper from the Fun Fall Gingham Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts Pack. The outlines of the leaves were adhered and the inner die-cuts were inlaid using liquid glue. The sentiment is from the Autumn Is My Favorite Color Word Die Set. "Autumn" was die-cut once from holographic gold cardstock and three times from heavyweight white cardstock. The rest of the sentiment was die-cut from the same alcohol panels that the leaves were cut from, as well as twice from heavyweight white cardstock. They were all stacked and adhered together with liquid glue, then adhered to the center of the card. Lots of sequins from the Friends In Tall Places Sequin Mix finish off the card. That does it for my card today!! Be sure to head over to Instagram to join in the festivities and check out the complete release in the Picket Fence Shop HERE!! Have a wonderful week!! Brenda
ICE CREAM AND POPSICLES CARDS

ICE CREAM AND POPSICLES CARDS

by Silvana Chambon on Jul 15 2024
Hi, everyone! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia  and I´m so happy to be in the Picket Fence Studios´ blog today.  Summertime has arrived and that means it´s ice cream season! I know that for those of us who love ice cream, all year round is ice cream season. But on hot summer days, they are much more enjoyable, don´t you agree? And, as the sentiment says, "Ice cream makes everything better".  I created two cards in different colors but with the same design:  I made the background with the new Wreath building: Ice cream you scream stamp set. I used the Stampwheel to create a repetitive pattern. For the pink card I used a black pigment ink and used an embossing powder with pink speckles, that dries clear but leaves the color. For the lilac card I stamped everytime with a different ink.  I thought it would be fun to make a popsicle for the sentiment. So, I used an oval die from the Basic Die cutting Set 1 with a pink cardstock and cut the bottom part, so the shape ressembles a popsicle. I stamped the sentiment from the Ice cream set with embossing ink and put over some white embossing powder.  I found a popsicle wooden stick and cut it in half to use it on the two cards. I glued it behind my popsicle shape.  To assemble the card I cut the background 3/8" smaller than an A2 card, put a mat slightly bigger behind with the same pink cardstock and tape it over a light kraft cardstock card base with foam tape. I glued the popsicle sentiment over. To finish it up I added some embellishments from the Bee My Friend sequin mix plus.  And that´s my card! The lilac one doesn´t have the embellishments, but the process was the same.  I hope you like these cards and that you find the opportunity to create your own and give it to an ice cream lover. I leave you at the bottom the list of products in case you need some of them.  Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today and I hope you´re enjoying the summertime.  Se you in my next post.  Silvana.

Life is Short: Pattern Making & Inlaid Diecutting

by Andrea Shell on Jul 09 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea with you, and today I'm sharing a fun card combining a couple of my favorite techniques: pattern making and inlaid diecutting. This card might look time-consuming, but it came together pretty quickly! I started by creating my pattern with the Wreath Building Ice Cream You Scream stamp set. To make it easy for myself, I arranged several of the images onto the lid of my MISTI and just moved and rotated my cardstock when stamping. To fill the panel completely, I eventually removed some of the stamps and stamped one or two here and there. Once my panel was filled, I colored the images with Copics. To speed up the coloring, I kept the colors to a minimum (for me anyway - ha!) and used no more than three markers for each color. After coloring, I highlighted the images with a white gel pen. Now for the scary part. I diecut my colored panel with the Hooray Word Die, retaining both the positive and negative diecuts. I also cut black cardstock four times with the word die. I adhered the outer negative diecut of my colored panel to a white cardbase and inlaid one of the black "hooray" diecuts. Next, I glued the smaller negative diecuts inside the word and then stacked the rest of the "hooray" diecuts, ending with my Copic-colored one. My supporting sentiment is from the Lick the Bowl stamp set. I white heat-embossed it onto a strip of black cardstock, "bannered" both ends with my scissors, and popped it up with foam tape. For a bit of sparkle, I finished with some Iridescent Moonshine sequins. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Happy Birthday and Many More!

by Brenda Noelke on Jul 02 2024
Hello, crafty friends and happy Tuesday!! I hope your week has started off well!! Brenda here with a colorful birthday card featuring goodies from the latest June Release!! I'm always in need of birthday cards and this one's great because it will work for any age, male or female!! I began by stamping the Birthday Dance Confetti Stamp onto white cardstock with dye inks in shades of blue and green. It was die-cut with the smallest die in the A2 Layering Rectangle Die Set. The "happy" die from the Happy Birthday Word Die Set was die-cut from the center of the panel. It was adhered to a panel of Birthday Bash Fabulous Foiling Toner Card Stock that was cut out with the largest die in the A2 Layering Rectangles Die Set. The "birthday" script was also from the Happy Birthday Word Die Set. It was die-cut once from black glitter cardstock and three times from heavyweight white cardstock, then stacked and adhered together and adhered across the center of the card. The rest of the sentiment, from the Swanky Sentiments: Birthday Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto black cardstock, cut out with the Coordinating Die and popped up with foam tape. A sprinkling of Razzle Dazzle Sequins finishes off the card. That'll do it for me today!! Thanks so much for hanging out with me!!  Brenda

Blow out the candles interactive card

by Silvana Chambon on Jul 01 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia and today I want to share with you a fun and interactive card made with some of the new products from the June release.  This card has a little story behind: this year I'm turning 40, and I have a group of childhood friends who will also turn 40, so I found myself needing to start creating several cards to have. This is a special age milestone and I thought It could be fun to make special cards for this.  Let´s talk about the card! It has a birthday gift box on the front but behind are the candles hidden. On the top you can see a tab that when you pull it, you´ll reveal the candles.  For the background I cut a light pink color cardstock in an A2 size panel and used the Sprinkles 6x8 Layering Stencil set changing colors in each layer. The present box is from the lovely Surprise! It´s your day stamp set designed by Kelly Taylor. I stamped it over the background to have it as a guide, and I stamped it again over a piece of paper, colored it and cut it in two: the inside and back of the card and the front. I glued the back piece over the stamped box on the background and cut a slit where the pull mechanism will be.  The 40 candles are from the new set Blow out the candles which has a coordinating die too. I stamped with embossing ink and put gold embossing powder over and set it. With some acetate I made the piece that holds the candles and glued them with some double sided tape. The front of the box was poped up with foam tape giving the candles room to slide under.  I put the pull tab under the background and put some foam tape all over the background (not over the tab´s space) and glued it onto an A2 card base.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and also was made with the embossing technique.  To finish it up, I added some sequins from the Iridiscent Moonshine Sequin Mix. And that´s it! You can visit my Instagram post to see the card in action, if you like. I know there are some good tutorials on Youtube to make this kind of cards, so you can find some of them there.  I hope you liked this card and it inspires you to make one for a special ocassion. Have a fantastic week and happy crafting! See you on my next blog post.  Silvana.

Easy Masking Technique!

Easy Masking Technique!

by Colleen Balija on Jun 26 2024
HI friends! I'm back today with another masking technique that's basic yet very effective for your stamps! I'll be using From Our Entire Herd stamp, Paper Pouncers, and Grass Tufts die!  I tend to use this masking technique quite a bit when I'm not felling inspired or am not sure how to use my stamps, and it works like a charm! I started with a piece of 5.5x4.25 white cardstock. Then I created a rectangle mask by placing painters' tape onto the card panel to frame the rectangle. The painter's tape will protect the areas where you don't want ink. You could also use a piece of 5.5x4.25 masking paper and die cut through the middle of it with a rectangle die!   When my panel was masked, I inked blended through the middle with yellow ink. Then I used my Mini Paper Pouncer to create bokeh dots by inking the pouncer with shades of orange ink and stamping the pouncer over the yellow ink! You can see in the photo below the details in that background! Another way to use your pouncers!  Then I removed the masking and stamped the giraffes from the From Our Entire Herd stamp in black ink, stamping it several times to get a crisp black image. I stamped the sentiment beneath it. Then I added some of the tufted grass in front of the giraffes, trimmed the card panel with my deckled paper trimmer along with a piece of black cardstock slightly larger, and adhered the 2 layers over a 5.5x4.25 white card base!  I love this technique for silhouette stamps such as the giraffe one! Another option would be to create an ombre effect with your inks! Thanks for stopping by today!
