Gold and Black Shimmer and Shine

by Colleen Balija on May 20 2024
Hi friends!  I love using minimal color when I want to add lots of texture and dimension to my card, so today I want to share a classy and easy card using gold and black with just a touch of color from flowers! I'll be using Sweet Summer Bellflowers stamp and die set, She Endured 6x6 stamp, Ornate Negative Strip die, Tangerine and Sunshine Yellow pearls, gold embossing powder, and Copic markers!  First, I grabbed a piece of black cardstock sized 5.5x4.25 and taped the lower third of it because I wanted to heat emboss the other two thirds of the card panel. I prepped my card panel with an anti-static tool, inked up the She Endured 6x6 background stamp with my embossing pad, and stamped the image onto the card panel. The tape protected part of the card panel from being embossed. Then I added gold embossing powder and heat set it. I removed the tape and die cut the lower third of the panel with the Ornate Negative die (from a previous release). Then I adhered the finished panel over a piece of gold cardstock so that you could see the gold showing through the holes of the ornate die! I finished the background panel with a thin strip of gold separating the die and embossing. You can see all of that classy detail in the photo above! Once my background was completed and adhered to a 5.5x4.25 black card base, I heat embossed the 2 flowers from Sweet Summer Bellflowers stamp in gold powder and then colored them in shades of pink and yellow with my Copic markers. I die cut both flowers and adhered them over the black card panel, along with a sentiment from the same set that was also embossed in gold! The sentiment and one of the flowers were propped up using foam tape for dimension! I finished with pearls from the Tangerine and Sunlight Yellow set over one of the flowers! This card was very easy to complete, yet there is so much to it! The minimum use of color allows you to add lots of texture and dimension!  Thanks for stopping by! Sending Prayers with the Blooming Trumpet Flowers Stamp

by Andrea Shell on May 16 2024
Hello, again! It's Andrea with you sharing some inspiration featuring the gorgeous, new Blooming Trumpet Flowers stamp set. Aren't those flowers from the Blooming Trumpet Flowers stamp set beautiful?! I love that the set has individual flowers that you can use to add to the large image! I stamped my images with Black Hybrid Ink and colored them with Copics. I cut out the images with the coordinating dies. To keep the focus on those blooms, I left the rest of the card rather simple. I created the lattice panel by diecutting white cardstock with the A2 Rectangles for Card Layering Dies. I used two of the layering dies from the set to cut the peach and green mats and layered all three diecuts onto a white card. While the Blooming Trumpet Flowers set has some lovely sentiments (I love the combination of fonts and sizes), I decided to use the new Get Well Word Dies for my sentiment. I diecut the sentiment once from gold foil cardstock and several times from white cardstock and stacked the diecuts. I arranged my colored images onto my card, adhering them with foam tape. I attached my diecut sentiment with liquid adhesive and finished with some gold pearls from my stash. Thanks for stopping by! Know You Are Surrounded By Love

by Brenda Noelke on May 15 2024
Happy Wednesday, fellow crafters!! This week sure is flying by!! Brenda here with an encouragement card featuring goodies from yesterday's release!! I started by white heat embossing the flowers from the Sweet Summer Bellflowers Stamp Set onto Bristol smooth cardstock. I watercolored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, then cut them out with their Coordinating Dies. For the background, I stamped the She Endured Background Stamp onto a panel of Bristol cardstock by coloring on the stamp with the same markers that I used on the flowers, spritzing it with water, then stamping it onto the panel. It was die-cut with the largest arched die in the Basic Die-cutting Die Set 1. I used the two largest arched dies in the same set to cut a frame from plum cardstock, then I cut the second largest arched die from vellum. The largest die in the A2 Rectangle Layering Die Set was cut from blue cardstock and the She Endured Background Stamp was stamped onto it with blue ink. All of the layers were adhered together with liquid glue and the flowers were adhered across the front of the panel.  The sentiment, from the Swanky Sentiments: Sympathy Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto plum cardstock. It was cut out with its Coordinating Die and popped up with foam tape.  That does it for me today!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope the rest of your week goes well!! Brenda

Dance to the rhythm of the sea card

by Silvana Chambon on May 08 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! I´m Silvana and today I´d like to share an inspiration card for you made with some of the last release´s products.  This card features the new Dear Summer Loving stamp. It´s super cute and fits perfectly in an A2 card. I colored with some Copic markers and cut it with the coordinating die. The last thing I did was putting little white gel pen details to highlight some parts.  For the background I made some ink smooshing with Distress Oxide inks over a watercolour paper. I let it dry and then I used the Inner Glow A2 Stencil with the new Sea Glass Blue Paper Glaze Glass. The colour is subtle and translucient but adds some shine and helps to emphasize how much fun she is having in the sea, don't you think? When I first saw the stamp set, I inmediately thought that she was dancing in the sea with her inflatable flamingo. So, I decided to use one of the sentiments from the new Signature Quotes: the Sea that fitted perfectly. I stamped it onto a black cardstock with Versamrk ink and some white embossing powder and heated it. I cut it with the coordinating die anf put some black foam tape under to give some dimension. And that´s it!  I think this card turned out very well and it´s perfect for any sea lover who enjoys a good day in the beach.  Thank you so much for being here and read the blog post. I leave you at the end the supply list for easy reaching.  I hope you have an amazing day! See you on my next post. Silvana.

Hello There! - Paper Glaze Luxe and Liquid Splatters

by Colleen Balija on May 07 2024
Hi there, it's Colleen here and I'm excited to share this mixed media card!! I got to play with the new Paper Glaze Luxe from the April release! For my card today, I'll be using Paper Glaze Luxe in Clementine Preserves and Tropical Cocktail, Oversized Tropical Leaf die, Liquid Watercolor Splatters in Yellow, Salutations sentiments stamp, and from a previous release Liquid Watercolors in Purple Lilac, Pierced Blanket cover die plate, A2 Rectangles for Card Layering dies, and Polka Dot Palooza Foiling card panel.  First, I added a thin layer of the new Paper Glaze Luxe in both colors to 2 sheets of heavy weight cardstock. I used heavyweight cardstock because it holds the paper glaze well. When it was dried (maybe 1/2 hour later), I die cut the oversize tropical leaf using the Tropical Cocktail paste and the lattice design die cut using the Clementine Preserves paste. It came out SO beautiful! I set those aside and focused on the backdrop.  Starting with a foiled design from Polka Dot Palooza, I ink blended over it in shades of teal. The foiling resists the ink, so you still see that lovely shine! Then I adhered the lattice die that was created using Paper Glaze in Clementine Preserves over the background and finished with splatters using the liquid watercolor splatters.  Next, I splattered the oversized leaf that I had die cut earlier over the Paper Glaze in Tropical Cocktail and adhered it over the lattice background at an angle so that the background peeked out from behind the leaf! At the last minute, I decided to add gold paste to the edges of the leaf to help it pop a bit more. Then I finished with a sentiment from the Salutations stamp set.  In the photo above, you can see all the detail from the splatters and the lovely colors of the new Paper Glaze Luxe!  TIP: You can make a ton of backgrounds in advance by adding a thin layer of Paper Glaze in your favorite color over heavyweight cardstock. Then pull it out when you need it! The paper may curl up a bit, but if you run it through your die cut machine, it will flatten out!  To shop all of the products in this post, click on the description of each product in the first paragraph of this post. Underwater Shaker Card

by Andrea Shell on May 02 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea back to share a shaker card featuring the new You Octopi My Thoughts stamp set. I love the ocean theme of the April release! Is anyone else itching to head to the beach now?! I started by stamping the octopus from You Octopi My Thoughts with Black Hybrid Ink. I colored him with Copics, added some white details with a gel pen, and cut him out with the coordinating dies. The foliage is from the Layering Flora: Leaves and Twigs Dies. I diecut a few shapes from white cardstock and then placed the diecuts onto the 4"x4" Paper Inking Palette. Using the Rainbow Pint-Sized Paper Pouncers, I "colored" the diecuts with distress inks. I wanted to make a porthole style shaker, so I diecut the 3.0" Connected Circles Shaker Dies five times from white cardstock and once from metallic paper. I layered the white diecuts together and backed the silver one with acetate before gluing it on top of the white diecuts. I glued the octopus and foliage to one of the Beachcombing Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Fronts, added some Iridescent Moonshine sequins, and sealed them in place with the stacked diecuts. I trimmed around the shaker to remove the excess from the patterned paper and foliage. I stamped a sentiment from You Octopi My Thoughts in black onto an A2 card. I attached my shaker with double-sided adhesive and glued silver pearls to the silver frame to complete the porthole. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

The Best Dad Father's Day Card

by Brenda Noelke on May 01 2024
Happy May Day!! Brenda here with you!! I hope your week is going well!! I can't believe that it's May already!! I have a card to share with you today that would be perfect for Father's Day!!   I began by gold heat embossing the Tranquil Seas Stamp onto a panel from the Beachcombing Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Front Pack. I die-cut it with the third largest die in the A2 Rectangle Layering Die Set. I used the largest and second largest dies in the same set to cut a panel of white cardstock and blue cardstock from the Ocean Breeze Blue Fabulous Foiling 8.5 x 11 Card Stock. All of the panels were adhered to a white A2 card base. The Best Mom/Dad Word Dies were cut from white cardstock and adhered with liquid glue. The sub-sentiment, from the Escape With Me Stamp Set, was gold heat embossed onto white cardstock and fussy cut. It was popped up with foam adhesive. Sequins from the Tropical Breeze Sequin Mix matched the background perfectly and add a bit of shine to finish off the card. Do you have your Father's Day cards finished? It will be here before we know it!! Thank you so much for spending a bit of your Wednesday with me!! Enjoy the rest of your week!! Brenda

Find me by the sea slimline infinity shaker

by Silvana Chambon on Apr 30 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios blog! It´s Silvana here and today I´m sharing with you an infinity slimline shaker card with some of the last release products. As you may know, an infinity shaker it´s an edge to edge shaker card or a full panel shaker. So let´s see how to make it! Let´s start by the background. I used the Slimline scene Building: Seashore Cover Plate Die  to make with but I cut it three times with the different shades of the Fabulous Foiling Toner Cardstock Ocean Breeze Blues to make the water. I used a recycled paper cardstock that had some speckles that ressembles sand for the last piece. In a closer photo you will see that I made some "foam" in the lighter shade of blue cardstock. I used Paper Glaze Luxe Arctic Fox and apllied it with my finger for that.  I glued the different pieces onto a slimline size panel. After that I cut a piece of Shaker sheets half an inch bigger than the background and glued it on the back leaving one side open to pour the shaker fill which was the new Sequin Mix Island Blues.  I love the iridiscent colors and the perfect mix of sequins. It was perfect for this shaker.  I glued the last part of the shaker sheet to seal and put all the background over a slimine size card base.  For the sentiment I used the new Find me by the sea Word Die Set made this way: for the SEA I put some of the new Paper Glaze Glass Sea Glass Coral onto a light weight cardstock and waited until It was completely dry. This new Paper Glaze has a translucent look, but over a white cardstock looks amazing. For the rest of the sentiment I foiled a piece of the Fabulous Foiling cardstock with Fabulous Toner Foil in Metallic Silver  and cut it. I arranged the sentiment on the left side of the card so this will let the background and the sequins show.  And that´s it! Despite using many products, the card is easy to  make and looks great. I hope you can give it a try and let me know if you like it.  You can follow me on my IG: @casamagnolia_nh where I post the majority of my cards or you can find me on my website, where I write english/ spanish posts.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  See you on my next post! Have a happy week and happy creations! Silvana.

Have a Great Day - Oversized Tropical Leaf Die

by Colleen Balija on Apr 29 2024
Hi friends! Colleen here today sharing a pretty and very simple card using new release products Oversize Tropical Leaf die, Fern & Leaf dies, Salutations Sentiments, and from a previous release Paper Glaze Luxe in Twinkle Lights Gold, Pierce Blanket Cover die plate, and Gradient Pearls in Grass Green and Soft Copper. Let's get started! This was a very easy card to pull together! I die cut the Oversized Tropical Leaf die (it's HUGE) using an alcohol inked card panel that I had set aside. Then I die cut a piece of white cardstock using the Pierce Blanket cover die plate.  TIP: You could easily enhance the look of this large and bold leaf die by embossing it with the Pierced die cover plate or your favorite PFS cover plate! I trimmed the white die cut panel down and placed it over a larger piece of black cardstock. Then I adhered both onto an A2 sized white card base. You can see the piercing in the photo above! Adding embossing to a white card panel adds texture and interest! Finally, I adhered the die cut oversized leaf onto the pierced panel at an angle. Then I added a sentiment from the new Salutations Sentiments, popped up on foam tape for dimension. I die cut 4 of the Fern & Leaf dies, added Paper Glaze in Twinkle Lights Gold over it, and then adhered them around the sentiment. I finished with Gradient Pearls at the tips of each of the little leaves!  TIP: I like to create colorful card panel using different media and set them aside for future use like with this card! You can easily do this with PFS Paper Glazes and Liquid Splatters! Give it a try!  To shop the products used in this post, click on the description of the product in the first paragraph of this post. Sea-Themed Father's Day Card

by Andrea Shell on Apr 24 2024
Hello there! It's Andrea back with you to share a Father's Day card featuring products from the latest release. I love the new A Sea Turtle's Journey and thought it would make a perfect Father's Day card as it has both large and small sea-turtle images. I started by stamping two of the turtles with Black Hybrid ink. I colored them with Copics, added details with a white gel pen, and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I decided to create a 5" x 7" card to ensure the elements had plenty of room. I created my background by sponging a few blue-green inks onto a white panel with the new Ocean Greens Paper Pouncers. Using the Fan Brush, I then added splatters of water and White Paper Splatter. To drive home the ocean theme, I applied Sea Glass Blue Paper Glaze through the Ocean Waves 6x8 Stencil. I love the texture and shine the glaze creates! Once my panel was dry, I trimmed it down slightly and adhered it to a white card. For my diecut sentiment, I cut "dad" from the Dad/Mom the Best Word Dies from white cardstock a few times. With the Ocean Greens Paper Pouncers, I applied the same inks used on my background to the diecuts, holding them in place with the 4"x4" Paper Inking Palette. Next, I layered the diecuts together, offsetting the colored ones slightly, and glued them to my card. The scripty sentiment is from the new Signature Quotes: The Sea stamp set. I stamped it in black, diecut it with the coordinating dies, and adhered it with foam tape. I popped up the turtles with foam, as well, and finished with some iridescent drops from the Island Blues Sequin Mix. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda here with a colorful card featuring the Dear Summer Loving Stamp Set from the newest release!! I know I would be having a great day if I was frolicking in the ocean like this sweet girl!! I started by stamping the images from the Dear Summer Loving Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored them with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen then used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out. For the background, I added Sea Glass - Blue Paper Glaze Glass to a panel of Ocean Breeze Blue Card Stock using the Ocean Waves Stencil. Once dry, I trimmed it down and adhered it to an A2 panel of cardstock from the Beach Paradise Fabulous Glossy A2 Card Front Set. The adorable girl was adhered to the background with liquid glue, while the die-cut fish were popped up with foam tape. The sentiment is from the Swanky Sentiments: Salutations Stamp Set. It was stamped onto white cardstock with burnt orange ink, cut out with the Coordinating Die and popped up with foam tape. Sequins from the Tropical Breeze Sequin Mix adds a bit of shine draws your eye to the sentiment, That'll do it for me today!! Thanks so much for spending a bit of your Tuesday with me!! Brenda

A Sea Turtle's Journey - Ink Smooshing

by Colleen Balija on Apr 19 2024
Hi everyone! It's Colleen and I'm happy to be here with you today sharing a fun and colorful card using items from the April release!!! Today I'll be using A Sea Turtle's Journey stamp, Signature Quotes: The Sea sentiment stamp, and Liquid Splatters in Yellow Sunshine. I'll also be using existing Liquid Splatters in Blue Turquoise and Purple Lilac.  This stamp set is so detailed, and you don't need to add much to these turtles to make a great card! There are 2 large turtles and 2 small ones (Mama and baby!) to the stamp set along with some lovely sentiments.   The first step was to create a wash of color that looks like the ocean - I'm going the abstract route here because I'm not great with scenes! I placed some teal-colored reactive ink onto my glass media matt, sprayed water over it, and then placed a piece of watercolor cardstock over the inked area, moving the paper around slightly. Then I dried the ink and repeated the process until I got the coverage I wanted. This technique is called Ink Smooshing and it's FANTASTIC!  Next, I stamped a large and small turtle into each corner of the inked-up card panel in permanent black ink. Picket Fence Studios has a wonderful permanent black ink and it's become my favorite go-to for coloring and water coloring! I had to stamp the turtles a few times because of the watercolor paper, but I got a great image! Then I water colored over the turtles with Liquid Splatters in Purple, Green, and the new Yellow. Then I splattered those same watercolors over the entire panel. These liquid watercolors are sooooo versatile and vibrant! Once everything dried, I trimmed the panel down, placed it over a slightly larger black card panel, and placed both onto a white card base. Then I finished with a sentiment from the new Signature Quotes: The Sea! I love how the teal color in the background looks like water, and the splatters add just the perfect touch!  To shop the products used in this post, click on the description of the product in the first paragraph of this post. Thanks for stopping by!

Seahorse Shaker Card

by Andrea Shell on Apr 17 2024
Hello there! It's Andrea back with you sharing some new products from the April release. I love seahorses, so I couldn't pass up the new Seahorses of the Sea stamp set. I also used the sea grass images from You Octopi My Thoughts. I stamped everything with Black Hybrid ink and colored them with Copics. I added white highlights and cut out the images with the coordinating dies from each set. The new Magical Seas Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts have beautiful, nighttime, sea scenes that make creating cards super quick and easy. I chose one from the pack and adhered it to a white card. I created a frame from white cardstock with the Basic Die Cutting Die Set 1. I backed the white frame with clear acetate and a layer of foam tape. After placing a bunch of sequins from the new Island Blues sequin mix onto my background, I sealed them in place with the frame. The sentiment is from the You Octopi My Thoughts set. I stamped it in Black Hybrid Ink and diecut it with the coordinating dies. After attaching my colored images to the acetate, I popped up the sentiment with thin 3D foam squares.
