Nothing But Blue Skies Await!

by Colleen Balija on Dec 02 2024
Hi friends!  I have a colorful, shiny, and simple card to share with you today using Hot Air Balloons Sighting stamp, Freckle Friends: Climbing Calliope, On a Cloudy Day stencil, Paper Glaze in Twinkle Lights Silver, blue die inks, and A2 Lots of Thanks die plate set!  First, I die cut a white card panel using the A2 Lots of Thanks die set. I love this set because it includes layering dies in awesome shades and a WONDERFUL Thank You sentiment die that dies 3 unique Thank you sentiments!!! I applied the Paper Glaze Twinkle Lights Silver onto the outer white frame and set it aside to dry. Using the inner part of the die, I applied 3 shades of teal ink over it to create an ombre effect. I applied the darkest ink over everything using the On a Cloudy Day stencil. Then I stamped the image from Hot Air Balloons Sighting over the inked-up panel a few times using permanent black ink. I adhered the stencil back over the card panel and applied Twinkle Lights Silver paper glaze in just a few places to added texture and shine. Can you see it in the photo above?  Once everything was fully dried from the paper glaze (about 15 minutes is all it takes to dry), I adhered the finished card panel and the outer frame onto an A2 sized black card base. Then I stamped a sentiment from Freckled Friends: Climbing Calliope, adhered it over a piece of black cardstock, and added that to the card panel along with 3 birds from that same stamp set!  I really enjoy playing with color, texture, and shine. And this card's got it all! Thanks for joining me today! To shop the products used in this post, click on the description to be taken to the PFS shop!

Sweet Hooray

by Andrea Shell on Nov 26 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea back to share a fun card combining new and previously-released products from Picket Fence Studios. These adorable critters are from the new Peach and Piper: Bad Weather Friends set. That little racoon in the top was the inspiration for this card because to me he looks like he's celebrating (I can just hear him squealing "Hooray!"). After stamping those sweet characters, I colored them with Copics and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I added highlights with a white gel pen. How fun is the new On a Cloudy Day 6x8 Stencil? After placing it over a panel of blue cardstock, I applied Arctic Fox Paper Glaze Luxe with a palette knife. I love the soft sheen and fun texture of this glaze! To fill out my scene, I diecut white cardstock with the Scene Building: Grass Tufts Dies and Slim Line Short Tall Grass Die (retired). I applied two shades of green ink to the grass pieces with the Life Changing Blender Brushes. Once my background was dry, I adhered it to a cardbase and glued the grass border on top. I diecut the Hooray Word Die from metallic and white cardstocks and stacked them together on my card. I popped up my critters with foam adhesive, tucking the tufts of grass underneath the racoons. I added a sentiment from the Hot Air Balloon Sightings stamp and finished with some blue sequins from the Taking Off sequin mix. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Hello, Picket Fence friends and happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Brenda here with a card featuring the adorable Freckle Friends: Climbing Calliope Stamp Set and the A2 Cloud Peek A Boo Cover Plate Die!! I started by stamping the darling girl in the hot air balloon, clouds, banners and birds in the Freckle Friends: Climbing Calliope Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored it with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen, then used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out. For the background, I die-cut the A2 Cloud Peek A Boo Cover Plate Die from white cardstock and blended a bit of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink onto it using a blender brush. I blended the same ink onto another panel of white cardstock and adhered the A2 Cloud Peek A Boo Cover Plate die-cut over it using liquid glue. The Copic-colored die-cut images were adhered, also using liquid adhesive. The sentiment, also from the Freckle Friends: Climbing Calliope Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto black cardstock. It was cut out with the Coordinating Die and popped up with foam tape. A combination of Carnival Day and Taking Off sequin mixes finish off the card. Thank you so much for spending a bit of your Monday with me!! Have a terrific week and a very Happy Thanksgiving!! Brenda

A Time of Thanks

by Colleen Balija on Nov 21 2024
Hi friends!  As we near the Thanksgiving holiday for our fellow American friends, I want to share a warm Thank You card with you. This card is to thank YOU for your support, love, and kindness! I hope that you have an amazing holiday! For my card today, I'll be using Heat Wave Sun A2 stencil, Paper Glaze Luxe in Aztec Sunflowers, Liquid Splatters in Pecan Tart Brown, A2 Lots of Thanks die set, and die inks! Let's get started, shall we?  First step was to decide on the color palette, so I went with shades of mustard yellows and coral. These are the perfect colors for this time of year and also for this specific card! I started by adding a light shade of yellow to an A2 sized white card panel using my ink blending tool. Then I adhered the Heat Wave Sun stencil over it and applied darker shades of yellow and coral through the stencil, creating an ombre effect! One of the inks I used is a glitz ink, so it added shine to the fun! Finally, I went back in and applied Paper Glaze Luxe in Aztec Sunflowers over just the ends of the sun rays. I love that imperfect, mixed media look!  Can you see all that color and shimmer in the photo above? Love it! When the paper glaze was fully dried, I trimmed the card panel using my deckled edge trimmer, inked the edges in a dark brown ink, and applied Liquid Splatter in Pecan Tart Brown over the entire panel. Then I adhered it to a black A2 sized card base.  For the sentiment, I used the Thanks die from A2 Lots of Thanks. This die is a 3-for-1 where you die cut 3 different styles of Thank you with one die! I used the large, bold Thanks die so it would stand out from the background. I die cut it in a colored card panel that I had on hand from a previous play date with myself :). The colors of this card panel really complimented my background! I adhered it right over the background and that was it for this card! You've got shine, color, and texture going on and it doesn't get much better than this!  I'm so happy you joined me today! Hot Air Ballon Shaker

by Andrea Shell on Nov 19 2024
Hi there! It’s Andrea with you to share a colorful card featuring new goodies from Picket Fence Studios! Isn’t that hot air balloon fun?! I created it with the new Hot Air Balloon Dies, which coordinate perfectly with the new A2 Cloud Peek A Boo Dies that I used for my shaker frame. I started by diecutting white cardstock with the Hot Air Balloon Dies. I placed each piece onto the 4x4 Paper Inking Palette and colored them with dye inks that I applied with the Life Changing Blender Brushes. I assembled the balloon with liquid adhesive and added highlights with a white gel pen. That awesome background is from the Adventures in Hot Air Ballooning Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts. To frame the panel, I diecut white cardstock with the A2 Cloud Peek A Boo Dies. I blended the diecut with pink ink and added splatters of water. I backed the cloud diecut with clear acetate and a layer of foam tape and used the new Carnival Day sequin mix for my shaker. For my sentiment I combined the Swanky Sentiments: Salutations stamp with the Hot Air Balloons Sighting set. I heat-embossed “hello” from the Swanky Sentiments set in gold onto white cardstock and diecut it with the coordinating dies. I white heat-embossed the supporting sentiment from the Hot Air Balloons Sighting set onto pink cardstock and trimmed it down. I popped up the hot air balloon and sentiments with foam adhesive and finished with a few pearls from the Carnival Day mix. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Hello, friends and happy Friday!! Brenda back with you today!! I'm sharing a card created with a few goodies from yesterday's release!! The critters in the Peach and Piper: Bad Weather Friends Stamp Set are just darling!! I created a thank you card that's perfect to send to that special person who is always there to love and support you!! I started by stamping the sentiment and the adorable image from the Peach and Piper: Bad Weather Friends Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored the image with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen, darkened the eyes with a black gel pen, then cut it out with the Coordinating Die, along with the sentiment. For the background, I die-cut the heart cover plate die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set from white cardstock. A panel of pink cardstock was die-cut with the smallest rectangle die in the same die set. The second largest die in the same set was cut from aqua cardstock. The panels were stacked and adhered together using liquid glue. A wide strip of vellum was wrapped around the top and bottom of the panel and adhered to the back with liquid glue. The layers were adhered to an A2 white card base, also using liquid glue. The large "thanks" was die-cut from aqua and black cardstock using the A2 Lots of Thanks Cover Plate Die. They were adhered together, slightly offset and adhered to the front of the card. The critter and sentiment die-cuts were popped up with foam tape. Sequins from the Carnival Day and Taking Off Sequin Mixes finish off the card. I just LOVE everything about this card...the colors, darling critters and that heartfelt sentiment!! Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Be sure to check out the complete release over in the Picket Fence Shop!! Have a wonderful weekend!! Brenda

Friend, life is better with you card

by Silvana Chambon on Nov 11 2024
Hello, crafty friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia  and I have a cute card for a friend today with some of the last release's products.  This card features the new Friend Stacked word die which comes with two dies: the word and the "shadow". This kind of dies are great for making a lot of techniques. In this case I used a silver cardstock for the word and vellum for the shadow, This allows to smooth the background but you can still see it through the vellum. To give dimension I cut four times the word friend in white cardstock and stacked them together and glued them behind the vellum.  The background was made with one of the best dies ever. It´s called Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangles and Cover Plates dies and it has rectangles in different sizes that fit perfect in an A2 card. You'll not have to measure again to align your backgrounds! And it also comes with three different cover plates dies that will give you plenty of options to experiment and play. I needed some details for this card and I thought the Animal Critters: Crafty Foxes stamp set would be great for this card. I chose two of those adorable and cute foxes to add and the sentiment comes from the set too. I stamped in black cardstock with embossing ink and put some white embossing powder over it. And that's my completed card for today! I hope you liked it and give it a try!  Thank you for stoping by the blog today and see you in my next post. Have a nice week!   Silvana.

Have a Nice Day!

by Colleen Balija on Nov 08 2024
Hi friends! Today's card boasts black and white with just a touch of color! I love black and white cards, so this card will be a classic beauty! I'll be using Beauty Found in a Vase stamp, Polka Dot Flora background stamp, and Pinking Shear A2 cover Plate die!  As I was trying to decide what color to stamp the Polka Dot Flora background stamp in, I decided to do it in black. And I wasn't disappointed, as this stamp is so amazing! After I stamped the flora image, I trimmed it and placed it over a black piece of cardstock that was die cut using the Pinking Sheer A2 Cover Plate. I thought the design of that die added interest! Then both layers were placed onto a white 5.5x4.25 card base!  Now, onto the focal point, the flowers!  I decided to keep the color of the flowers very basic, so I went with shades of red and kept the vase in shades of grey to compliment the black background. The flowers were heat embossed in gold and then colored with alcohol inks. Then I die cut the image, added foam tape, and adhered it over the black and white background! I also stamped and die cut one of the coordinating sentiments and placed it next to the flowers! This was LITERALLY all I did for this card! Sometimes simpler is better, and you can never go wrong with a black and white card!  This was a short blog post because this was a simple card! Monochromatic Magnolias: Coloring on Colored Cardstock

by Andrea Shell on Nov 06 2024
Hello there! It's Andrea with you to share some inspiration with the Graceful Magnolias stamp set from the October release. After seeing other designers color images on colored cardstock, I have wanted to try it. With its beautiful florals, the Graceful Magnolias stamp seemed the perfect candidate for that technique, too. I began by embossing the magnolia spray onto navy cardstock with WOW! Polished Silver Super Fine Embossing Powder. I added color to the flowers and buds with colored pencils, starting with a light color (I recommend white for a base layer) and working up to darker ones. I heat-embossed a second spray onto vellum with WOW! On the Lake Embossing Glitter. I diecut both images with the coordinating die. I kept my background simple to have the focus on my floral images. I diecut the same navy cardstock with the A2 Basket Weave Cover Panel Die and mounted it onto metallic cardstock. I think the result is very elegant! I glued the two magnolia sprays together and attached them to my background with foam squares. I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Swanky Sentiments: Sympathy set with the silver embossing powder and diecut it with the coordinating die. I adhered my sentiment to a strip of vellum and wrapped the strip around my background panel, which I affixed to a cardbase. For more sparkle, I added clear gems to the background. Hello There - Memo Pad

by Brenda Noelke on Nov 01 2024
Happy Friday, fellow crafters!! Brenda back with you today!! I've always loved new notebooks...oh, the possibilities!! The beginning of the school year was so exciting to me because we always got new school supplies!! So, I was super excited to see the composition notebook products in the October release!!  I began by adhering a narrow strip of black cardstock along the left side of a panel of blue paper from the Memo Pad: Brights Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Front Pack. I used a corner rounder to round both of the corners on the right side. I rounded the right corners of an A2 card base and adhered the panel to it using liquid glue. Next, I die-cut the A2 Ripped Notebook Cover Plate Die from white cardstock. I stamped the numbers from the A2 Notebook Grid Stamp along the left edge of the die-cut with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. It was adhered to the front of the card. The sentiment is from the Hello There Word Die Set. It was cut from teal and black cardstock, stacked and adhered together with liquid glue, then added to the front of the card. A few Thunderstorm Gems add a bit of sparkle to finish off the card. I love how this turned out!! Did you always look forward to new school supplies?!? A brand new notebook still makes my heart happy!! Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Have a wonderful weekend!! A thank you note for a friend

by Silvana Chambon on Oct 30 2024
Hello, friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! I´m Silvana from Casa Magnolia and today I´ve got a simple but yet beautiful thank you card for a friend.  The october release brought many notebook-related products, and I thought it could be fun to make a card like the notes we used to pass secretly in school. The card features the new A2 Marble Notebook Cover Stamp on the background which I stamped with the Black Hybrid ink pad twice and a third time with embossing ink and clear embossing powder. I wanted that extra shine the embossing powder gives for my background.  The "piece of paper" of my note is a new die called A2 Ripped Notebook Cover plate die which I loved because it has the page details, like the torn edge or the embossed writing lines.  For the caps letters in the note, I used the Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die which comes with an alphabet die. I cut the letters in white cardstock and for the coloring I placed them on a Paper Inking Palette and used Distress Oxide inks with Paper pouncers. The easiest way to have the colors you want without using colored cardstock.  The "my friend" and "thank you" stamps come from the new Beauty found in a vase stamp set stamped with the same black ink.  And that´s my completed card! I know exactly who I’m going to give this card to, which is what always helps me when creating cards: thinking about who the recipient might be.  I hope you liked it and inspires you to send a secret note to a friend too.  Thank you so much for stoping by the blog today.  See you in my next post. Have a fantastic week! Silvana.

I Care About You, Friend!

Hey friends! I have a fun mixed media card to share with you today that is PERFECT for any occasion! I'll be using Wreath Building: Christmas Friends stamp, Friend stack word die, Let's Paint stencil, Liquid Splatters, and Pearl mixes! I'll be doing an ink schmooshing technique, so let's get messy!  First step was to create a colorful background to compliment the focal point, which will be the Friend stacked word die! I wanted that die to stand out, so a colorful background was the perfect complement to it!  Grabbing Liquid Splatters in Opaque Black, Kiwi Lime, Purple Tulip, and Blue Turquoise along with some teal, purple, and lime green reactive inks, I started to build color by placing first the ink onto a glass media matt, spraying it with water, and then "schmooshing" a piece of watercolor paper, sized 5.5x4.25, over the ink. I continued to build color using the various inks and drying between layers to keep each color vibrant. Once that was finished, I went back in with the liquid splatters and continued to build more color! I also splattered the color around with a paint brush to create interest and depth. Then I stenciled Let's Paint with the Liquid Pearls Opaque Black. I removed a bit of the black color with a paper towel so black wasn't so intense. I also used the stencil to remove color from the background I had created by placing the stencil over the background and going over it with a baby white. If you look in the upper left corner in the photo below, you will see how the color was removed!  Once the ink schmooshing process was done and the card panel was fully dry, I grabbed 2 rectangle dies and die cut through the middle of the colored card panel and through a piece of black cardstock. Before I adhered all the layers back together, I had to add my sentiment! I die cut the outer layer of the sentiment into the colored card panel (the center piece). Then I die cut the word "friend" onto a piece of black cardstock and adhered it over the out layer. Now I was ready to adhere everything onto a 5.5x4.25 card base! The sentiment was adhered using foam tape so that it popped off the page a bit! Finally, I added a sentiment that said "I care about you" along with 2 cocktails that are included in the Wreath Building: Christmas Friends and placed those over the sentiment die! I thought that was perfect for a friendship card! Then I added a few pearls from the Bright Blue & Soft Violet set, and this card was finished!  I'm so happy you stopped by today!
