A Lifelong Friendship

by Colleen Balija on Oct 26 2024
Hi friends! I love to send cards to my friends, and today's card is perfect for that someone special in my life! I'll be using Let's Paint stencil, Beauty Found in a Vase stamp, and the DecoGel pens in gold and white. I'll also be doing a masking technique, which is so much fun!  I stamped the florals in a vase image from Beauty Found in a Vase onto a piece of white cardstock using Black Hybrid ink. Then I colored the flowers in autumn shades using my alcohol markers. I also stamped the sentiment that coordinates with this stamp set!  When the coloring was finished, I stamped the same floral image onto a piece of masking paper, die cut it, and placed the masking over the colored image. This will protect my image for some inking that I want to do around it!  Once the masking was in place, I created another mask by die cutting an oval shape onto a piece of masking paper trimmed to 5.25x4.0. I placed the outer masking piece over the masked floral, and then adhered the Let's Paint stencil over it and stenciled into the center of the oval with an autumn yellow ink. When I removed all the masking, I was left with this lovely frame that looks like it's sitting behind the flowers! I love a good masking technique, and it keeps the card slim for easy mailing!  Last step was to add white DecoGel pen over one of the flowers and gold over the centers of a few flowers, just for added interest!  I trimmed the finished panel down, adhered it over a piece of black cardstock slightly larger, and then adhered both layers over a 5.5x4.25 white card base.  I'm excited to send this card to a dear friend of mine welcoming in the fall season! Thanks for stopping by today! If you want to shop the items used in this post, click on the item description to be taken to the PFS shop!

Woodland Friend

by Andrea Shell on Oct 24 2024
Hi, there! It's Andrea here to share a woodland, fall-inspired card featuring products from Picket Fence Studios. The inspiration for this card came from the fun Vintage Heart stamp from the October release. I paired it with the new Friend Stacked Word Dies and one of the cute foxes from the Layered Fauna: Larger Playful Fox Dies. My idea was to have the fox in place of the "i" in friend; I think it's fun when animals or objects are used to represent a letter. I began by stamping the Vintage Heart stamp with beige ink onto white cardstock. To add the brown ink to the bark, I applied darker ink to the stamp with a Neutral Pint-sized Paper Pouncer before stamping. I diecut the heart with the coordinating dies. For my background, I blended white cardstock with green ink and added splatters of Opaque Gold Paper Splatter. Once the drops were dry, I trimmed down the panel and adhered it to a white cardbase. I popped up the heart with foam squares. I diecut the Friend Stacked Word Dies three times from white cardstock and once from brown. After trimming the "i" from the diecuts, I stacked the brown layer on top of two white layers and offset the third white diecut to create a highlight. I adhered the layered diecut to my card and attached the fox (leftover from a previous project and colored with Copics) from the Layered Fauna: Larger Playful Fox Dies with foam. I diecut some leaves from metallic cardstock with the Layered Flora: Fall Foliage Dies and glued them to the heart, along with a few gold pearls. The sub-sentiment is from the Vintage Heart stamp and was attached with two layers of foam. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Friend - A Peony of Contrast

by Brenda Noelke on Oct 22 2024
Hello, friends and happy Tuesday!! Brenda here with a friendship card featuring the stunning A Peony of Contrast Stamp Set!! This is definitely one of my faves from the October release!! I began by stamping the A Peony of Contrast Stamp Set onto white cardstock with pale tan ink for some no-line coloring. I colored it with Copic markers and colored pencils, then fussy cut it out. For the background, I spread Huckleberry Blue Paper Glaze onto a panel of navy cardstock through the Frame of Mind 6x8 Stencil with a palette knife. (I turned the stencil at an angle slightly for a little more interest.) Once it was totally dry, it was die-cut with the largest die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Die Set. The peony was adhered with liquid glue. I also spread the Huckleberry Blue Paper Glaze onto a small piece of navy cardstock. Once that was dry, "friend" was die-cut from it using the Cheers My Friend Word Die Set, along with three more layers from navy cardstock. They were stacked and adhered together with liquid glue, then added to the front of the card. I decided to forgo any sequins or gems and let the beautiful bloom shine. I can't wait to color this stamp set with all the mediums!! Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Have a wonderful week!! Brenda

Graceful Magnolias Card

by Silvana Chambon on Oct 22 2024
Hello and welcome to the Picket Fence Studios´blog! It´s Silvana here and today I want to share with you a very special card to me.  As you may know my Instagram handle is Casa Magnolia because I live in a house with a big Magnolia tree on the front that blooms in spring with this pinkish flowers so beautiful. So, everytime a company comes with a magnolia stamp, I buy it because it fills me with joy trying to reproduce the color in the flowers all year round. When I saw the lovely and beautiful Graceful Magnolias stamp set from PFS and designed by Kelly Taylor I was thrilled! I knew that I had to have it and make a lovely card with it. To color the flowers I used Distress oxide inks; the same colors I used in the blended backgroound. It was a mix of Tattered Rose, Victorian Velvet and Kitsch Flamingo. For the leaves, I used some watercolor pencils.  As I mentioned before, I used the same Distress Oxide colors to ink blend a part of an A2 panel. In the other background part I used the new A2 Basket Weave Cover Plate Die. Very versatile die for backgrounds. To give more interest I put some Opaque white Paper Splatter.  I used one of the sentiments the stamp set comes with. I heat embossing it over black cardstock and cut it with the coordinating die.  The finishing touch were the gems from the new Thunderstorm Gem mix.  And that completes my card. I hope you like it as much as I did. This stamp set really filled me with gratitude and joy.  Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. Have an amazing day and happy crafting! Silvana.

Grateful for You

by Andrea Shell on Oct 16 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea back to share a card featuring several products from Picket Fence Studios' October release. You might recognize that cute girl from an earlier release: She's from the Freckle Friends: Penelope Pumpkin stamp set. I colored her with Copics, cut her out with the coordinating dies, and added white highlights with a gel pen. The marbled background was created with the new A2 Marble Notebook Cover stamp. I stamped it in pink onto white cardstock and diecut it with the new Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangles & Cover Plate Dies. I attached the background to a white card with double-sided adhesive. Using the new A2 Ripped Notebook Cover Plate Die, I diecut both white and peach cardstocks. Onto the white diecut, I stamped the small floral spray from the Autumn Bountiful Beauty set twice in a soft orange ink and a sentiment from the same set in black. I trimmed off the top portion of the peach diecut, leaving just the ripped edge. I adhered the white piece with foam to my card and tucked under the peach strip. I affixed my colored image with foam and added some gems from the new Thunderstorm Gem Mix for a little sparkle. For the finishing touch, I wrapped black twine around the top of the card. Thinking of You Friend

by Brenda Noelke on Oct 15 2024
Hello, fellow crafters and happy Tuesday!! Brenda here with a floral friendship card featuring lots of goodies from yesterday's brand new release!! I started off by stamping the beautiful bouquet from the Beauty Found In A Vase Stamp Set onto white cardstock with PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored it with Copic markers, added dots to the centers of some of the flowers with a yellow gel pen, then used the Coordinating Die to cut it out (bundle here). For the background, I white heat embossed the Polka Dot Flora background stamp onto yellow cardstock. It was die-cut with the second largest rectangle die in the Beyond Basics: A2 Rectangles and Cover Plate Die Set. It was adhered to a panel of bright pink cardstock that was cut out with the largest rectangle die in the same set. The floral vase was adhered with liquid glue. The top layer of the Friend Stacked Word Die was die-cut with bright pink cardstock once and three times from heavyweight white cardstock. The shadow layer was cut from vellum. All the layers were stacked and adhered together with liquid glue. "Thinking of you", from the Vintage Heart Stamp Set, was white heat embossed on vellum and cut out with the Coordinating Die (bundle here). It was adhered across the "friend" die-cut, hiding the liquid glue behind the embossed letters. A sprinkling of sequins from the All About the Pinks Sequin Mix finishes off the card. I absolutely love all of these new goodies from the latest release!! I can't wait to share more of the new release with you!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful week!! Brenda

Winter Blooms Shaker Card

by Silvana Chambon on Oct 09 2024
Hello, friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! I´m Silvana from Casa Magnolia and today I have a shaker card to share with you with some of September´s new products.  This cards features the new Winter Blooms stamp set and coordinating die. It´s a beautiful stamp, with this flowery frame and an additional bouquet. You can also purchase it in bundle. I decided to color it in traditional red and green, to give it the festive look.  For the background, I chose a cover plate to give some interest to it. I used the A2 Pierced Blanket cover plate die .  I added a piece of acetate to the frame and then put some Extra wide foam to give the height for the shaker. Then, I used the new Oh, What Fun sequin mix for the filling.  The coordinating die has a lot of word dies. I chose the traditional "Happy Holidays" in black cardstock for the sentiment. I think this card screams Christmas and it turned out so well. The stamp design is from the amazing Kelly Taylor and I think it´s gorgeous, like all she does!  I hope you enjoyed the post today. Thank you so much for stopping by.  Have an amazing day and happy crafting! Silvana.

Holly Jolly Christmas Bear!

by Colleen Balija on Oct 07 2024
Hey there friends! Today I'm creating a Christmas card that's fun and bright! I will be using Deck the Halls stamp and die set, Brave Bear Nibble die (previous release), Liquid Splatters in Yellow Sunshine, Holly Leaf Green, and Candy Cane Red. I will also be using a DecoGel pen in silver and Twinkle Lights paste!  The first step was to create a colorful wash for the background. I applied the Liquid Splatters onto my glass media matt, sprayed them with water and blended it out with a paint brush, and then swept a piece of watercolor cardstock over the ink. I did this with yellow, then green, and finally red. Once I was happy with the layout of color, I stamped all the sentiments from Deck the Halls over the color using Hybrid Black ink. I was not concerned with getting a crisp image, but I wanted to add interest to the background panel! I also added Liquid Splatters in Silver over the background to create "blobs" of color!  Once the background was finished, I used a rectangle nesting die to cut through the center of the panel. I also die cut a piece of black cardstock in a slightly larger size. I adhered the outer background panel onto a piece of 5.5x4.25 white card base, then adhered the center panel over the black panel and adhered that over the outer panel. I love the added interest that the black layer brings to the card!  For my sentiment, I stamped Holly Jolly & Deck the Halls from the stamp set and die cut using the coordinating dies. I love how the dies cut around the sentiment!  Next it was time to play with the adorable Brave Bear Nibbles die! This is a layered die set, so I die cut all the pieces onto a piece of white cardstock and then colored everything using my markers. Then I adhered the layers together, add Pearls to his eyes and silver DecoGel pen to his lapel. I also added a touch of Twinkle Lights paste to the ball of his hat! Finally, I adhered the Bear and the sentiments over the background panel! I really enjoyed pulling this mixed media style card together with watercolors, stamps, pens, paste, and markers! You don't need much to create a beautiful mixed media piece! Thanks for stopping by today, to shop the items in this post, click on the description to be taken to the PFS shop! Joy to the World

by Andrea Shell on Oct 04 2024
Hi there! It's Andrea with you sharing a Christmas card featuring the new Winter Blooms stamp set. The Winter Blooms stamp set is so beautiful and makes such elegant holiday cards. If you're not much for coloring, this set would be just as gorgeous simply heat-embossed onto colored cardstock. I stamped the border from Winter Blooms in black and colored it with Copics. I diecut the border with the coordinating die and then set it aside to work on the background. I trimmed an A2 panel of red cardstock and heat-embossed a sentiment from Deck the Halls in the center. Using a Life Changing Blender Brush, I blended the edges of the panel with a coordinating ink. I adhered the red panel to a white cardbase and popped up the floral border with foam tape. I added some gems from the North Pole Gem Mix to finish the card. Thanks for stopping by! *Affiliate links used at no cost to you.

Let's Sparkle and Shine at Christmastime

Hello, Picket Fence friends and happy Wednesday!! Brenda here with a festive Christmas card featuring the Cheerful Winter Gnomes Stamp Set and the A Snowy Breeze 6x8 Stencil!! I love using unconventional colors for holiday cards, and this is the perfect example!! I began by stamping one of the gnomes from the Cheerful Winter Gnomes Stamp Set onto white cardstock using PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I colored him with Copic markers, added highlights with a white gel pen, then used the Coordinating Die to cut him out. For the background, I blended Wilted Violet and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks onto a panel of white cardstock with blender brushes. I spread Seasonal Holiday Arctic Fox Paper Glaze Luxe through the A Snowy Breeze 6x8 Stencil onto the panel with a palette knife, then set it aside to dry. Once dry, I trimmed the panel slightly and adhered it to an A2 white card base. The arch was cut from vellum using a die in the Basic Die Cutting Die Set 1. The gnome was adhered to the vellum with foam tape. The sentiment, from the Signature Quotes: Christmastime Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto black cardstock and cut out with the Coordinating Die. It was also adhered to the arch with foam tape, then liquid glue was added to the back of the vellum behind the die-cuts only and added to the front of the card. Snowflakes from the Jingle All the Way Sequin Mix were the perfect finishing touch. I just adore this little guy all decked out for the holidays!! Thank you so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful Wednesday!! Brenda

Cheerful Winter Gnomes card set

by Silvana Chambon on Sep 30 2024
Hello, friends! Welcome to the PFS blog! It´s Silvana here from Casa Magnolia and today I wanted to share with you the cards from one playful session with a lot of the new products from the last release. I had so much fun with these cards, specially making the background. But let´s see the cards finished:  Both cards have these bright and very colorful backgrounds which I loved. They were made with Paper Splatter Watercolors and flat brushes. Just put two drops of liquid watercolor per color. Be careful when blending one color with another, so you don't saturate the lighter color with the darker one. I used watercolor paper for these backgrounds.  For this background I used Liquid Pecan Tart Brown, Liquid Cranberry Red and Liquid Candy Cane red Paper Splatters Watercolors. The paper Splatters have this shine in it that makes them beautiful and gives them a holiday look. To add more interest to it, I dry embossed the new A Snowy Breeze 6x8 stencil and used some Liquid Gold Paper Splatter watercolor with a fan brush. For the other card I used the Liquid Holly Leaf green and Liquid Candy Cane red Paper Splatters Watercolors. The color that appears when these two meet it´s a deep violet shade. You need to be extra careful here, as what you're aiming for is for the green and red to prevail over the third color that appears.  For this background I opted to used the Chistmas Tree Farm 6x8 Stencil with  Arctic Fox Paper Glaze Luxe. This card has a more traditional color scheme so I thought the trees were perfect.  Let´s talk about these cute gnomes. This is the Cheerful Winter Gnomes stamp set. You can also find the coordinating die or purchase it in bundle. I stamped with Black Hybrid ink and then added a layer of embossing ink and clear embossing powder. I used the same Paper Splatter Watercolors of the background to color each gnome. For the beard and nose I chose Copic markers colors.  To finish the cards I stamped the different sentiments that come with the stamp set with embossing ink and white embossing powder over a black cardstock.  I had some much fun with this two cards! I hope you enjoyed the blog post and give these cards a try!   Thanks for stopping by. Have a fantastic week.  Silvana

Mixed Media for the Holiday Season!

by Colleen Balija on Sep 27 2024
Hi friends! I love 2 things in life - the holiday season and mixed media cards! So today I'm combining both for a fun, holiday card! I'll be using Deck the Halls stamp set, Winter Blooms stamp set, Lots of Blossoms stencil, Liquid Splatters in Yellow Sunshine, Holly Leaf Green, and Candy Cane Red. I'll also be using Paper Glaze Luxe in Twinkle Lights!  First step was to apply color to a piece of watercolor cardstock sized 5.25.4.0. I applied the Liquid Splatters onto my glass media matt, sprayed it down with water and blended it with a paint brush, and then swiped my watercolor paper through the colors. I started with yellow, then green, and finally red. Liquid Splatters works beautifully as watercolor AND splattering on your work panel! Once I was happy with the colors and the ink was dried, I stamped all the sentiments from Deck the Halls over the color using Black Hybrid Ink. I wasn't concerned with getting a crisp image, I just wanted to add interest to the background card panel.  Next, I applied Paper Glaze Luxe in Twinkle Lights through the Lots of Blossoms stencil to two of the corners on the card panel. Twinkle Lights is a translucent paste, so you'll get dimension but still be able to see what's behind it! Then I set the background aside to fully dry. For my sentiment, I stamped the word Noel and the "May the Christmas Season..." from Deck the Halls stamp using the same black ink and then die cut them using the coordinating dies from the set. I also stamped the center flower from Winter Blooms, fussy cut it out, and added a light wash of color similar to the shades of the background card panel. I finished by adhering the flowers and sentiments in a cluster next to each other and then applied Glossy Accents over the floral stamins.  I truly enjoyed creating layers using stamps, stencils, watercolor, and paste! It's very easy to do and PFS provides the most amazing materials to do mixed media! Thanks for stopping by today!
