I Dream In Salt Water

by Lisa Tilson on Jan 11 2022
Hello there! Today I have a card for you featuring Pisces Girl, which was released last month. She is the latest in the Horoscope Girls range and I had to ink her up as I have a birthday in February and am therefore a Pisces girl! All the Horoscope girls are fun to colour. They have amazing hair and in Pisces Girl you can see she has lots of little fish in her hair - so cute! I began by stamping her onto white cardstock using Black Hybrid Ink. I coloured her with Copics and cut her out with the coordinating die. The Copic numbers are listed below if you are interested. For my background I took a panel of white cardstock and the Taylored Expressions Rectangle Masking Stencil. I secured the stencil to my panel from behind using Frog Tape. In the A2 Tall Grass And Waves With Tile & Wood Floors stamp set, there is a wave stamp which I thought would fit well on my card today. So I took that and stamped it onto my panel, from top to bottom, using Versamark Ink. I removed the stencil, applied HA White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I reattached the stencil once more and then using Life Changing Blender Brushes I blended Distress Oxides from top down. I used Chipped Sapphire, Prize Ribbon, Mermaid Lagoon and Salvaged Patina. I deliberately didn't blend the ink all the way to the bottom as I wanted the area under the sentiment to be clear but you can still see the waves which I like. The embossed waves resist the ink and this is always a fun technique. Once I finished the blending, I removed the stencil and then cleaned off any excess ink from the waves using a soft towel. The wave panel was adhered flat onto a base card and Pisces Girl was popped up with foam tape. I then took a sentiment from Merpeople Of The Sea and stamped it onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white detail embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out to fit the width of my panel. This was also added with foam tape. Even though there is quite a lot going on on this card, I do think that it still has a CAS feel to it and I loved how it came together. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have a good day. Happy crafting! Copics used: Skin (E70, E53, E51, E50, R20), Lips (R14, R22, R21), Hair (YR23, Y21, Y23, Y32, E50) Fish (BG32, BG11, B01, B00)

Hello there, Lisa here today for 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration. Christmas isn't too far away now, but maybe you are still creating the odd card here and there for close family and friends. Today I am sharing a card using two of the cutest woodland bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey and I thought I would pair them with an older background stamp. It's called On An Autumn Countyside and I love it. I think it can be used just as easily for Christmas cards as well as Autumn cards especially when you white heat emboss as it looks perfectly frosty. We all like to stretch our stamps don't we?! I started by stamping the tree onto some white cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set and then set to work with my Distress Oxide Inks. Using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade from top to bottom. I trimmed the panel down and matted it onto some navy cardstock which i then added onto a top folding white 110lb notecard. Not a very traditional colour scheme but I love Seedless Preserves and wanted to use it today, and we can do whatever we want in cardmaking can't we! The two bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey were stamped using Black Hybrid Ink and coloured with Copics (numbers listed a little later). They were then cut out with the coordinating dies and popped onto the panel using foam tape. To finish the card I stamped a greeting from Lots Of Christmas Cheer onto navy cardstock using Versamark Ink. Again, I applied white embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out into a little banner shape. I added some white gel pen stitching onto it and then added it to the panel with foam tape. And that finished the card for today! Copics used: E59, E57, E55, E53, E51, E50. Thank you for joining me here today on the blog and I wish you a wonderful day!

Hello! I am continuing my series of cards using the Zodiac Girl stamps. This month's release is Aquarius girl, and it you look closely at her hair, it seemed obvious to me what colour it had to be! The card base is acetate, so I cut 4 pieces of cardstock with the coordinating die - one (#1) to stamp and colour in to go on the front of the card, one (#2) to go inside the front of the card to hid the adhesive from the front of the card, one  (#3) for inside the card to write a message on, and one (#4) on the back of the card to hid the adhesive from the 3rd piece. Thanks for visiting :)

Hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm sharing a fun little tag I made using the If You've Got It Haunt It (currently on sale!) and Triple Trouble Stamp Sets!   To create my tag, I die cut the smallest scalloped rectangle in deep purple card stock.  Then I trimmed a piece of white card stock to fit inside.  I stamped out my sentiments and my bats.  Then I stamped and colored my witch image.  After cutting her out, I added her to the center of the tag along with some gold thread.  At the top of the tag, I punched a hole and added some orange ribbon.   This tag is quick and easy to make and perfect for added a fun and whimsical touch to your Halloween Treats!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting! Thinking of You Shaker Card with Karen Reategui

by Karen Reategui on Oct 07 2021
Hello crafty friends! Today I'm sharing the shaker card featuring the Torch Ginger Tropical Flower Stamp and Die, More Fancy Sentiments Stamp and Dies, Center Flower 6x6 Stencil, Silver Bells Paper Glitz and Iridescent Moonshine Sequin Mix.   Let's begin! I started by placing the Flower 6x6 Stencil on top of an A2 panel and applied Silver Bells Paper Glitz using the Mixed Media Spatulas. I removed the stencil and let this panel dry for about 20 minutes.     Once the panel was dry, I added a card base at the back using glue. Next, I die cut a frame using two rectangles dies out of peach cardstock. Additionally, I die cut a piece of acetate and adhered it to the back of the frame using double sided tape. This way I created the window for the shaker.      Next, I poured the Iridescent Moonshine Sequin Mix on top of the background created with the Silver Bells Paper Glitz. I also adhered foam tape around the window of the shaker, removed the backing paper and placed it on top of the background to close the shaker window.       Torch Ginger Tropical Flower Stamp was stamped using Gingerbread Wood Hybrid ink from Scrapbook.com and I colored the image using Copic markers. I die cut this image using the matching die and placed it on top of the shaker background.     Finally, my sentiment from More Fancy Sentiments Stamp was stamped using Black Hybrid ink pad and then it was die cut using the coordinating die. I placed the sentiment at the lower part of the card and it was finished.   I really hope you enjoyed this card and give it a try. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day. Your friend, Karen

Ombre Paper Glaze Video and card samples

by Sandi MacIver on Oct 01 2021

Hey paper crafters, welcome back.  It's Sandi MacIver here and today I have a New Video Paper Glaze Ombre.  It's over on the Picket Fence Studios YouTube channel (link below for you). In the video I share a few different ways I like to use and blend these awesome Paper Glazes, and then I switch over and show you all the finished cards I made with the backgrounds created in the first portion. Yes, it's a long video, but its fast paced with lots of card inspiration.  I know by the end of it you will want to give Paper Glaze a go, LOL....I can't be the only one who enjoys messing with this stuff and it creates the best backgrounds. I'm also playing with a variety of different stencils and stamps all from Picket Fence Studios.   What is Picket Fence Studios Paper Glaze? It's a jar full of smooth creamy medium used to create texture and shimmer in your paper crafting. You can mix it with Paper Glitz for more glimmer and/or Paper Glaze Enhancer to thicken it a bit and lighten the color. You can blend the colors together to make new colors The latest Paper Glaze Lux Ombre - Nutcracker Ballet already has glitz added to it.  With it's heavy body of mica and glitter infusion, it is beyond spectacular.  Adding depth and hues to your backgrounds. The Paper Glaze Ombre line is specially formulated and colored for perfect blending and Ombre effect.   How is Paper Glaze Applied: Paper Glaze is applied with palette knives, usually through a stencil to create a design. It can be applied randomly across cardstock for a splash of color. Or in gradient order to create the Ombre. It's spectacular on dark cardstock such as Navy or Black. Picket Fence Studios has a great selection of palette knives. What does the finished product look like? Once dry, Paper Glaze is very pliable, you can bend and cut the piece as you wish. You can also die cut card stock that has been Paper Glazed - however, an additional shim may be required. The Mica and colored Glitter included in the glaze is permanently attached to the cardstock and will not shed like glimmer paper does. While it adds beauty to your card backgrounds, it doesn't add extra weight. The beautiful sheen provides a professional finish for your cards.   How Long does Paper Glaze need to dry? In my experience about 20 - 25 minutes, but this will depend on a few things. How thick you apply the glaze: - You only need a very thin coat to create beautiful backgrounds. Note: in my video, at the end of each application, I turn my palette knife on edge, and scrape back to collect any excess sitting up on the stencil. The humidity where you live: I live in a very dry climate so mine dries quickly.  If you live in a higher humidity climate, you may find it takes a bit longer. Here are some of the finished cards created with the backgrounds I made in the video.  I also share these in the video and the supplies I used to create them.   Paper Glaze Ombre - Sunset Purples Paper Glaze Sunset Purples was added over the Framed Leaves Stencil in abstract, onto a piece of light purple card stock.  This combination creates this fun and interesting background for BFF Livi Girl. Next, Livi was colored with Copic Markers and then die cut out with the coordinating die. Two center panels were cut to add and highlight the sentiment. Livi was added with foam squares to add further dimension to the card. Finally, the card was embellished with purple gems from the Purple Side of a Rainbow Gem Mix.  There are also very nice purple sequins in the Frankie Comes to Town Sequin Mix.   Paper Glaze Ombre - Sky Blue Paper Glaze Ombre Sky Blue was added again through the Framed Leaves Stencil onto pale blue cardstock to create this background. This time a true Ombre effect was created by starting at the bottom with the darkest color and adding the lighter colors in order. The Lots of Christmas Cheer image was copic colored in similar hues.  Die cut with the coordinating dies and added to the card. The center panel was added with the sentiment, and to cover any glaze that got into the center of the stencil. Finally, the card was embellished with the pretty white 3/d snowflakes from the Icicles Sequin Mix. Paper Glaze Ombre - Sky blue with the Touch Ginger Tropical Flower: The same random application of card #1 was used for this background onto pale blue cardstock. Next the Touch Ginger Tropical flower was colored with copic markers, cut out with the coordinating die and added to the card. The sentiment was die cut 3 times and stacked before being attached to the card. Finally, the card was embellished with green gems from the Ocean of Green Gem Mix. Paper Glaze Ombre - Pumpkin Spice - Masculine Birthday Card The Pumpkin Spice glazes were added over the fabulous Slim Line Reverse Leaf Stencil onto white card to create this spectacular card front (not just for backgrounds my friends). Over that, the Happy Birthday Word Topper Die was cut in black and added to the card. Next, a strip of black was cut and added the entire length of the card, covering the bottom of the die cut. Finally, the card was embellished with the Autumn Leaves Gem Mix. Here is a second card done as above but in portrait orientation. The Pumpkin Spice Paper Glaze was added through the same Slimline Reverse Leaf Stencil onto Kraft colored card stock to add a more muted background for the art. Matting the art piece in a coordinating color really makes the red pop. The same Word Topper Die was used, this time trimmed down to fit the Slimline Card width. Paper Glaze Ombre - Fall Fashion - On Black Cardstock Try adding the Paper Glaze onto black cardstock for a very dramatic card. The Paper Glazes are Opaque so show up beautiful on light or dark card. The sentiment overlay for this one is the Happy Fall Y'all word topper die and then over stamped with the Word Topper Sub Titles Stamp Set. Finally, the card is embellished with the  Moon shad Gem Mix to add just a little more bling to an already fabulous card. Thanks so much for stopping by.  I had a blast creating these projects for you with the Ombre Paper Glazes.  I hope you will jump in and give them a try. Here is today's video for you    Products used in today's video: PICKET FENCE STUDIOS BUY ALL EIGHT: Paper Glaze Ombre Sets https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Word topper subtitles Stamp Set https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Slimline Reverse Leaf Stencil https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Happy Fall Y'all Word Topper https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Moon Shade Gem Mix https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Daisy Burst Stencil https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Slim Line Rainbow Stencil https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Slim Line Details of a Wing https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Happy Birthday Word Topper Die https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Autumn Leaves Gem Mix https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Vegas Baby Sequin Mix https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Torch Ginger Tropical Flower Stamp https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Torch Ginger Tropical Flower Die https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Ocean of Green Gem Mix https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS BFF Livi Girl Stamp https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS BFF Livi Girl Die https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Framed Leaves Stencil https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Purple Side of a Rainbow Gem Mix https://pfstamps.com/collections/all/... • PICKET FENCE STUDIOS Mixed Media Spatulas https://pfstamps.com/products/mixed-m...

Seek To See More - Full Size Shaker Fun

by Lisa Tilson on Sep 29 2021
Hello there, it's Lisa here with you today to share a shaker card. I often make shakers but rarely a full size shaker so I thought I'd shaker it up a little! See what I did there? So here is what I came up with. It uses one of my favourite sets, Mermaid Dear, and I paired it with the A2 Tall Grass & Waves With Tile & Wood Floors stamp set for my background. To begin, I took some Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour cardstock and popped it into my MISTI. I repeat stamped the waves image from the A2 Tall Grass & Waves With Tile & Wood Floors set using Versmark Ink. I then applied white embossing powder and heat set. I smooshed some Distress Inks onto my glass media mat and spritzed them with some water and then took a paintbrush and applied them over the embossed waves area. I didn't go over the whole of the embossed area, but concentrated my colour in all areas but the top left corner. I used Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio - this is a great mix for water scenes, at least in my humble opinion. To build up the colour, I did a couple of layers, heat setting in between. I set the panel aside to air dry after the last layer had been added. This beautiful mermaid is from Mermaid Dear and she was stamped onto 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock using PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I coloured her with Copic makers (the numbers are below) and then cut her out with the coordinating die before adhering her onto my watercoloured panel with wet adhesive. I then took an acetate sheet that was an inch larger than a normal A2 card and I cut a section from each corner so that I could wrap it around my watercoloured panel. I used double side tape to secure it at the back but left the top edge open so that I could add my sequins before finally sealing them in. My shaker mix was a combination of Mermaid Water Sequin Mix along with Spring Fling Sequin Mix. I added some of each into the front of the shaker and then sealed the top edge of the acetate at the back, again with strong double sided tape. The sentiment comes from Mermaid Dear and it was stamped onto black cardstock using sticky ink. I then added white embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out and adhering it onto the outside of the shaker panel with wet adhesive. To finish I added the shaker panel to a top folding A2 card. The movement of the sequins and the noise it makes is just fabulous! Copic numbers: Mermaid Skin (E70, E53, E51, E50, R20), Mermaid Hair (E55, E53, E51, E50), Mermaid Clothes (V17, V04, BG13, BG11), Puffer Fish (BV13, BV02, BV01) (BG32, BG13, BG11)

Capricorn Girl with Michelle

by Michelle Lupton on Sep 17 2021
I'm continuing on with my series of Zodiac Girl Cards - this month, the new stamp and matching die is Capricorn Girl. I coloured her with Copic markers and popped her onto a grey and purple stenciled background. I decided she needed a little pizazz, so I added some of the new Silver Bells Paper Glitz to her horns, her eyelids and her earrings. I also mixed some with water and splattered it in the background.     Thanks for visiting :)

Coloring with Paper Glitz

by Karen Reategui on Sep 13 2021

Hello crafty friends! Today i'm sharing one of the cards that I made for the 7 in 7 event. On this slimline card I colored through a stencil using Paper Glitz and a dauber. The products that I used for this slimline card are Slim Line Oversized Joy to the World Die, Slim Line Cut Flower Stencil, Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon,  Paper Glitz Lime Christmas Green, Paper Glitz True Christmas Red and Slim Line Die Cutting System.    I started by adding Pixie spray to the back of the Slim Line Cut Flower stencil, then I placed it on top of a heavy cardstock. I applied small quantities of Paper Glitz with dauber, coloring the center of the flower, the petals and the space around.  The colors I used were Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon, Paper Glitz Lime Christmas Green, Paper Glitz True Christmas Red. Next, I let the panel dry for about 20 minutes. Paper Glitz is a medium that dries very fast which is very helpful. Once my panel was dry, I die cut it using a layering base die from the Slim Line Die Cutting System. I also added on top of this background a piece of velum. Then, I adhered a black folded card base. On a piece of cardstock I applied  Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon using a spatula and let it dry. Once it was dry, I die cut the  Slim Line Oversized Joy to the World Die out of it. Additionally, I die cut another set of these dies out of white cardstock to be used as a shadow behind the die cuts with Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon. Finally, I added the Joy to the World die cuts on top of the velum using tape runner and this Slimline Christmas card was ready. Below you will find a list of supplies that I used to created this card. I hope you like this card and give a try this very fun technique. Enjoy your week and happy crafting! Your friend,  Karen

Winter Floral with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Sep 01 2021
Happy Wednesday! It's Rachelle with you today and can you believe it's September 1st already??? I had to look at the calendar twice just to be sure it was correct and that means it's time to get rolling on Christmas and holiday cards right now! The recent Picket Fence Studios' releases have been full of wonderful new products to get our Christmas crafting off on the right foot! I send out quite a few cards to folks who don't celebrate Christmas and the card today is the perfect way to share a bit of general winter and/or holiday cheer! I used the NEW "A Christmas Flower" Stamp Set to create this winter floral card design. I began with an A2 panel of 110# Neenah Solar White card stock and using my MISTI, I aligned the poinsettia image in the top left corner of the panel bleeding off the edge. I stamped this image using Picket Fence Studios "Black Hybrid Ink"  and then turned the panel 180 degrees and stamped it again so that the image appeared in opposite corners.  I watercolored the poinsettias, spattered the panels with diluted paints and then added a graduated blue wash around the flowers for a bit of depth. I went back into the images with a tiny paint brush (a 000) and using my gold paint, added touches of fine detail throughout; this panel was trimmed to 3.75" x 5". I heat embossed the sentiment from the "A Happy Winter To You" Stamp Set with fine gold powder onto heavy-weight vellum, trimmed it to size and wrapped it around the floral panel, securing it behind. This was attached to an A2 top-folding black card base and I added a few matte gold sequins from the NEW "Pumpkin Cookies" Sequin Mix Plus to finish up the card! I just love the sprinkling of gold on this design and those gorgeous poinsettias are the star of the show! There are so many different ways to color this beautiful image and be sure to check out Picket Fence Studios' Instagram Page where you'll find great design inspiration! Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

Non Traditional Colors for a Fall Shaker Card

by Karen Reategui on Aug 23 2021

Hello crafty friends! I'm so happy to be back and today I'm sharing with all of you one of the cards that I made at the 7 in 7 event. This is a Fall shaker card with non traditional colors featuring the Medley of Fall Collage stamp part of the Seamless Collection. I started this card, that looks like a mini slimline card, by stamping the images using Gingerbread Hybrid ink from Scrapbook.com over watercolor paper. For this technique I also used a Misti.      Then, I colored all images with teals, greens and browns shades. I fabulous and quick way to color a background with lots of images is using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a watercolor brush.     Once I finished watercoloring, I trimmed down this panel and additionally I cut another panel a bit larger but this time out of Neenah Desert Storm. I placed this panel behind the watercolor panel and added a bit of washi tape on each side to secure both panel because I run these through my die cutting machine using the small circle frame die from the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System.         Once I had the shaker window created I took off the washi tape and then I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of the watercolor panel. I placed back the larger panel and used glue to adhered both panels.  Also, I added foam tape all around the back of these panels, removed the backing paper and placed the Pumpkins Cookies Embellishment Plus Mixes on top of my cad base. Next, I closed the shaker window and the shaker was created!     As a final touch, I die cut using again the small circle frame die from the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System out of a teal cardstock and added it around the shaker window. Last, I stamp my sentiment using Autumn Fancy Sentiments stamp and placed it under the shaker and this card was finished!   I really hope you enjoyed this card and for those who attended the 7 in 7 event thank you so much for all your support, we had so much fun! Also for the ones who couldn't join my class at this event, you can check out the replay where I show you how to make this and one more card, link here.  Below you will find the list of supplies that I used to create this Fall shaker card. Have a fantastic week, your friend, Karen

I die cut a piece of cardstock using the Slim Line Die Cutting System and applied ink using the Life Changing Blender Brushes and once it was dry I adhered a slimline folded card base at the back.  Then, I stamped the images from Drop by to Say Bye Croak Stamp and Pond Scenery Stamps using Gingerbread hybrid ink from Scrapbook.com and I colored them with Copic markers. I die cut these images using the coordinating dies.  Additionally, I die cut the  Cattails Die out of white cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. Next, I stamped the sentiment using Black hybrid ink from Picket Fence Studios on my background panel. Also, I placed the Cattails and the Pond Scenery image die cuts previously colored on the panel as well using glue. Finally, I die cut the Trees Silhouette Cover Plate three times to create more dimension and glued them one on top of each other. I applied inks to the cover plate using the Life Changing Blender Brushes and placed it on top of my background panel, then I added the frogs around and this slimline card was finished.   Hope you like this card and get some inspiration. List of supplies are found at the bottom. Have a wonderful weekend!  Your friend, Karen

Hello Everyone! It's Ceal. Today I am sharing a zen card with you using two of the  new slimline inserts. To create this card I started with a white slimline card base and a panel of white heavystock cut down with the SLDCS Nested Rectangles.  I cut out the Tree Insert in the center of the panel and then cut out the Mushroom Insert on both sides.  I watercolored all three using Daniel Smith watercolors and added the panel to the base.  To finish the card I added a sentiment from the Early Tulips set.
