Let's dive into today's creative journey together!
Hello, friends! Justin Adkins here, and today I am so excited to be on the Picket Fence Studios blog with my first post using the October 2024 release! For this card, I am showing off the brand new
A Peony of Contrast stamp set! This stamp is HUGE!! It is so easy to make this gorgeous flower the star of your project! I paired this stamp with the brand new
Frame of Mind stencil make a sweet and soft background!
Now, let's get into the details for how this card came together!
One thing I have been tapping into when creating recently is paying attention to stamped images that would be really easy to mask.
The Peony of Contrast stamp set offers a flower that is SO easy to use this technique with! I used a gray alcohol marker safe ink to stamp my peony image on an A2 size panel, colored it up with Copic Markers, and then used Masking Magic to apply a cut out stamped mask over the image.
I blended the entire panel with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink, and then blended the edges using Broken China Distress Oxide Ink. Next, I placed the
Frame of Mind Stencil over the panel and ink blended using Broken China Distress Oxide All over the stencil, and Stormy Sky Distress Oxide Ink around the edges. I removed the stencil, and splattered the panel with
Opaque Silver Paper Splatter Watercolor. Once dry, I removed my mask, revealing my colored image. I used the 4" x 5.25" die from the
Beyond Basics die set and die cut my panel. I adhered the panel to an A2-size card base, which gave the panel a nice border.
Using the
Vintage Heart stamp set, I stamped the sentiment "thinking of you" in Twilight Versafine Clair ink. I heat embossed the sentiment using clear embossing powder, and then ink blended over the sentiment using Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink. I used the
coordinating dies to cut out the sentiment. I adhered the sentiment using foam tape, and also applied a few embellishments from the
Day and Night Gem Mix to give my card some more sparkle! My card was finished and ready to be mailed off to a friend!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Picket Fence Studios blog today! I hope this card sends you some sweet inspiration on ways you can use this huge flower image to send some extra thoughts of care to a loved one!
