More leaves Card by Laura

by Laura Nistal on Jul 27 2022
Hello everyone!! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this fall card that I hope will inspire you!  To start I used the "More Maple Leaves", "More Oak Leaves" and "More Ash Leaves" dies that i cut on gold and black cardboard. Next I prepared the background: for this I cut the outside of the leaf dies and used them as a stencil. Then I randomly placed them in the background and painted them with Distress Oxide inks in earth tones. Then I was pasting the leaves on top, but with a little offset to give it a different touch. For the sentiment i cut the "Good day to you word" die on gold cardboard and placed it in the center of the card. And this is how the result was! I hope you like it and that it inspires you, I remember that you can find all these products and many others in the Picket Fence Studios store.  A huge kiss and until next time! Laura

Slimline unicorn card by Laura

by Laura Nistal on Jul 06 2022
Hello everyone!! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this slimline card that I hope will inspire you!  To start I used the "Princessland Dear" stamps that I stamped with the "Black Hybrid Ink Pad" and then painted with alcohol markers. Then I used the "Slimline Curvy Rainbow die" which I cut out of various colored card stock. Next I prepared the background: for this I used the "Slimline Die Cutting System Scallop Frames" that I cut in white cardboard and foam to make a shaker card. Inside I put the "Sequins Unicorn Sparkles" that I think combine perfectly with this card. Finally I prepared the composition, glued all the pieces and this is how the result was! I hope you like it and that it inspires you, I remember that you can find all these products and many others in the Picket Fence Studios store.  A huge kiss and until next time! Laura

Hello!   I had a wonderful trip to Korea last few weeks. I almost forgot to share this colorful Hummingbird's Song slimline card to you.   I stamped the hummingbirds images with 6 different colors. ( Stamp set- A Hummingbird's Song- New release of June)   I inked a red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple color on the hummingbird stamp, after blending the color and color boundaries, stamp on the white card stock and die cut the image.  (I used Inkon3 mini cube inks)   Place the birds of each color underneath, place the birds blended in different colors on top of them, and paste them on the cards.   I decorated with sequins around the birds.   Thank you for stopping by! and Happy Stamping!        Supplies

Hello there, Michelle here!!! I'm sharing two cards with a throwback to some previously released stamps and dies...Penguins Wanna Have Fun Stamps and Coordinating Dies, and Glacier Scenery Stamps and Coordinating Dies. It's no secret, I love the Mini Slim Line Double Stitched Rectangles Dies. I combined it with the stamp set More of the Best Hugs Ever.  For this card I used the tiny stamps from the stamp set Penguins Wanna Have Fun and created a fun background.  I colored the images with Copic Markers and added lots of stickles glitter glue.  Thanks for stopping by for a peek! Hello There-Current of Fish

by Heejung Hunsberger on May 13 2022
Hello Friends, Today I have a card to share with you using the Current of Fish Stencil and Gold Rose Glaze. I colored three different blue colors of water coloring on the watercolor paper first, and dry it completely. This current of fish stencil is 6 x 6 size, taped the stencil from behind of water-colored paper. Using a mixed media spatula, I applied a paper Glaze Gold Rose. I removed the stencil, cleaned it and the spatula and set the panel aside to dry.    I guess it might be not easy to color with water color for the beginner. but it is very easy to do stencil. I want to have some dimension to the word die-cut,I would have die cut the hello there die a third on white card stock and added it on top. I think having a bit of dimension really helps to make it stand out.   I hope enjoyed this project, Thank you for stopping by! I will be a card with new release next month! Happy Crafting!   Supplies

Beautiful Heart

by Michelle Bala on May 03 2022
Hello there! Michelle here, so happy to share this card with you today! I used the Swirly heart A2 Stencil as my focal point. I inked it up with distress oxide inks in shades tattered rose, worn lipstick and aged mahogany. I masked up the perimeter of the stenciled heart and stamped the twine bow from the stamp set, Handmade Twine Bows. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set, Fancy Daily Sentiments. I stamped the bow and sentiment several times with black ink using the one and only MISTI!  I created the frame using Double Stitched Rectangle Dies and propped it up with the most amazing Foam Tape. For a finishing touch, I added a pair of Kaleidoscope Butterflies. I a hope you check out the products highlighted today!!! Can't wait to see what you create! Michelle

"Into The Woods" Slim Line Shaker Card with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Jan 24 2022
Hello! It's Rachelle here and I'm so excited to share this slim line shaker card I created by combining lots of different Picket Fence Studios' products!  This design came together pretty quickly with the help of a couple key products. First - the "Slim Line Full Front Shaker Die" Set and secondly, the NEW "Slim Line Woods Cover Plate Die" Set!  I started by die cutting the woods die scene from heavy-weight white card stock and selectively trimming a few trees/branches from the image. I chose to edit this because I wanted a bit more space for the shaker garnish to be seen and to highlight the deer die cut. Once trimmed, I watercolored just the leaves in a bright green and the die cut was glued onto a piece of charcoal gray card stock. This is almost a reverse silhouette design and all of the components really pop off of that charcoal background!   I created a white frame by using the slim line rectangular insert from the "Slim Line Full Front Shaker Die" and a smaller rectangle from the "Slim Line Nested Rectangles Dies". This frame was cut twice and glued/stacked together and adhered on top of the woods panel. I die cut a piece of thin packaging acetate with the "Slim Line Full Front Shaker Die", adhered double-sided tape along three sides of the back of the woods panel and wrapped the acetate around to adhere it into place. I chose to use the NEW "Spring Green Shaker Garnish" as my fill (to match my green leaves) and carefully poured about a tablespoon into my shaker panel. Then all I had to do was to close up the remaining shaker flap on the backside with the double-sided tape and the panel was adhered to the front of a slim line card base.   I die cut the sentiment from brushed silver card stock using the "Mini Slim Line Double Stitched Rectangles Die Cutting System" and the running buck ("More Deer Family Dies") from gray card stock. Both of these die cuts were carefully adhered to the shaker acetate with liquid adhesive to finish up the design! I just love how that Spring Green Shaker Garnish easily moves inside the card front and works both as leaves and grass in this scene! I highly encourage you to try some of the NEW Shaker Garnish colors - they are so light weight and really add a unique shaker element especially when combined with Picket Fence Studios' Sequins/Sequins Mix Plus options! Thanks so much for joining me today! Happy Crafting - Rachelle : )

Holly Jolly Mercury Glass Technique with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Nov 27 2021

Hello and welcome to Picket Fence Studios' "25 Days of Christmas"! It's Rachelle here today with some crafting inspiration and I'd like to share a new technique with you that mimics the look of mercury glass! I was experimenting with the Paper Glaze Enhancer in combination with some of the Paper Glitz colors and while you should NOT mix Glitz & Enhancer together into a single blended product, I did try using them separately on top of each other and came up with something that really resembles one of my favorite finishes - antique mercury glass. The Paper Glaze Enhancer is a soft, matte lightweight paste (resembling spackling compound in texture) and dries to a semi-transparent dull finish when used on its own. I though that I might be able to accent some areas by applying "Sparkle" Paper Glitz on top of the stenciled areas and when it was all dry, some of the areas of the Paper Glitz highlighted the Enhancer and some of it seemed to melt into the kraft background with a mirror effect! The photo can't quite capture it but believe me this looks so cool in real life! I just applied a thin coat of each product using the Slim Line "Changes" Stencil and set it aside to dry. It was trimmed down to 3.75" x 5" and adhered to a top-folding A2 card base. The leaf and berry cluster from the "Holly Jolly Christmas" Stamp Set was stamped/heat embossed with clear powder, watercolored and die cut. The wonderful sentiment from the "Winter Has Come To Town" Stamp Set was heat embossed and die cut.  I looped some silver thread into a bunch, taped it together and adhered it to the stenciled panel. The holly image was popped up with foam tape and the sentiment strip was glued into place. I added pink and matte gold sequins (from The Pink Lady Sequins Mix) to finish up the card. I hope you'll give this look a try and I'd love to see you share what you come up with over on the Picket Fence Studios' Community Facebook Page!  Thanks so much for stopping by today and take care - Rachelle

Hello!  Larisa here and today I'm sharing two holiday cards featuring the NEW A Wreath for all Seasons Stamp!  This beautiful stamp is the perfect addition to your cards and it's so versatile! For my first card, I started with a black piece of cardstock and trimmed it to fit an A2 sized card.  Then I stamped out my image and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  On top of that I added a strip of black and white patterned paper from my stash.  After stamping and coloring up Beautiful Girl Jill, I die cut her out using the coordinating die and added her to the left of my card with some foam tape.  I also tucked a bit of iridescent twine behind her for added texture.  A few sequins and a "Merry Christmas" sentiment finish this card off!   For my next card, I chose some fun and whimsical colors to work with on this vertical design.  I stamped my image out in teal ink on light blue card stock.  Then I trimmed it to fit my card base.  Then I die cut and paper pieced my little gnome adding some detail with Copic Markers.  Across the bottom, I combined two different stamped sentiments in two different colors to add some interest to my card. A few sequins and a fuzzy pom pom on my gnomes had finish this fun little card.   Products Used: Beautiful Girl Jill Stamp Beautiful Girl Jill Coordinating Die A Wreath for all Seasons Stamp Sequin Mix Plus - Crafty Friends Fancy Christmas Sentiments Fancy Christmas Sentiments Coordinating Die Billy the Gnome Die A Gnome Christmas Hugs Enclosed Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!

One Set, Two Ways!

by Larisa Hohman on Oct 06 2021
Hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm sharing two very different cards using the same stamp set: Winter Has Come To Town.   I love to stretch my supplies and come up with creative ways to use them!  Today, I'm showing you how to use one set two ways!  For my first card, I stamped out the village scene using black ink.  Then I colored it up using Copics.  For the sky, I added some distress inks and then popped up my sentiment with foam tape.  A pretty simple card that packs a colorful punch!   For my second card, I stamped the village scene again, but this time, I used light grey ink.  Then I stamped out my sentiment using red ink and used a black pen to add some shadows.  I paired the NEW Winter Scene Building People to my scene and colored them up with Copics.  A bit of foam tape, helps them stand out in the scene.  Then I layered the whole thing on some dark green card stock.   I just love that both of the cards use the same stamp set, but look so different!  Thanks so much for stopping by!     Products Used: Winter Has Come To Town Winter Scene Building People Winter Scene Building People Coordinating Die Black Hybrid Ink

Seamless Designs Stamps

by Sandi MacIver on Sep 10 2021
Hey cardmaking friends welcome back.  It's Sandi MacIver here and today I'm playing with Picket Fence Studios Seamless Designs Stamps.  Yesterday I pulled out some Seamless stamps and had a good look at them.  I'm totally amazed at how versatile they are.  I kind of hate when I spend money on a stamp set that I only use once, don't you?  Not so with these little guys and let me take a few minutes to explain why. Today I'm going to share a couple of cards I created with these Seamless Designs Stamps.  At the same time, tell you why I like them so much. Size of the Picket Fence Studios Seamless Designs Stamps: Don't be fooled by the size of these little guys.  They may be small at just over 3.5" square - but they are mighty. As they are small, they also come in at a nice low price point.  For a small investment, you get a HUGE return. Yesterday I created two A2 sized cards with two of these stamps: First way I like to use the Seamless Designs Collection: The first is this absolutely stunning Roses for All Seasons stamp and I created a simple A2 sized card with a small art piece on the front. I used a Misti to stamp the image in black and then heat embossed it in clear onto watercolor paper. Next, I colored it with my Karin watercolor pens. Unfortunately, we require a few sympathy cards so I used the Prayers Word Topper Die on this one. TIP - I could also change out the card front to the bright pink envelope color, change the sentiment die to Happy Birthday and completely change the feel of this card. Creating the Sentiment: Normally I would cut these word topper dies 3 or 4 times and stack them before adding them to my cards. Today, I cut one from a scrap of brown I had in my scrap bin, and gold heat embossed two layers onto it. The gold embossing really builds up and I have this beautiful sturdy sentiment which I glued across the bottom front of my art piece. Understated, but adds the perfect amount of bling.   My Second Card in the A2 Size: My second card is created the same as the first, just with a different stamp.  This one is new out in August called A Medley of Fall Collage. The image is stamped once  and colored with Karin Markers. The Happy Fall Y'all Sentiment was created in the same manner as above.   So, why are these called Seamless Designs Stamps? Because you can use your Misti or other stamping tool, and you can repeat stamp these little guys to create a larger stamped surface. Their edge illustration is created to line up with the illustration on the opposite side for "seamless continuous stamping". (cool or what). The Second Way I used the Seamless Designs Stamps: This Slimline Pumpkin card shows how I lined up the All the Gourds Seamless Stamp and stamped horizontally across the card stock three times to create my Slimline Card front.     Here's another example using the More Hot Chicks Seamless Stamp.  Again, stamped three times horizontally, colored and made into a slimline card with the PFS slimline dies. There is a video for this card here. You can stamp Seamless the other way too: Not only do these stamps line up horizontally, but the illustration also lines up vertically.   The Third Way I like to use the Seamless Designs Stamps: In the card sample above, I used my Misti to stamp the image three times vertically to create an understated background for my card. Lining up the stamp to continue the repeat is very easy, as there are little pieces of the image you use to overlap for the continuous stamped image. You can get the details for this card here: Here is another vertical stamped example where I used the creepy Marching Spiders Seamless Designs Stamp to create the background for my Halloween card. Card Details here:   The Fourth Way I like to use the Seamless Designs Stamp: You can stamp it twice horizontally, then move up and stamp twice vertically to create an entire A2 sized card front. TIP - you can also stamp vertically twice to create a background for a Mini Slimline Card, and I'll do one of those shortly as well.   Where to get Seamless Designs Stamps. Picket Fence Studios introduced these these to me and you can see their collection here.  Storing the Seamless Designs Collection Stamps: As I said in the beginning, these little guys are small.  So, they take up a very little bit of space, unlike some of the HUGE slimline stamps I have purchased recently. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my slimline stamps and dies LOL, I just had to adjust my storage to compensate the tall storage.     I subscribe to the Jennifer McGuire storage system of Fridge Bins (I order mine from Amazon), and these little guys fit perfectly in the 6" x 10" bins  Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you enjoyed today's cards.  Give a Seamless Designs Stamp a try and then come on over to the Picket Fence Studios Facebook Group and share it with us. Here are the products I used today.  Compensated affiliate links used  where available at no cost to you. Winter Floral with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Sep 01 2021
Happy Wednesday! It's Rachelle with you today and can you believe it's September 1st already??? I had to look at the calendar twice just to be sure it was correct and that means it's time to get rolling on Christmas and holiday cards right now! The recent Picket Fence Studios' releases have been full of wonderful new products to get our Christmas crafting off on the right foot! I send out quite a few cards to folks who don't celebrate Christmas and the card today is the perfect way to share a bit of general winter and/or holiday cheer! I used the NEW "A Christmas Flower" Stamp Set to create this winter floral card design. I began with an A2 panel of 110# Neenah Solar White card stock and using my MISTI, I aligned the poinsettia image in the top left corner of the panel bleeding off the edge. I stamped this image using Picket Fence Studios "Black Hybrid Ink"  and then turned the panel 180 degrees and stamped it again so that the image appeared in opposite corners.  I watercolored the poinsettias, spattered the panels with diluted paints and then added a graduated blue wash around the flowers for a bit of depth. I went back into the images with a tiny paint brush (a 000) and using my gold paint, added touches of fine detail throughout; this panel was trimmed to 3.75" x 5". I heat embossed the sentiment from the "A Happy Winter To You" Stamp Set with fine gold powder onto heavy-weight vellum, trimmed it to size and wrapped it around the floral panel, securing it behind. This was attached to an A2 top-folding black card base and I added a few matte gold sequins from the NEW "Pumpkin Cookies" Sequin Mix Plus to finish up the card! I just love the sprinkling of gold on this design and those gorgeous poinsettias are the star of the show! There are so many different ways to color this beautiful image and be sure to check out Picket Fence Studios' Instagram Page where you'll find great design inspiration! Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

Scene Cards with Larisa

by Larisa Hohman on Aug 25 2021
Hello, Larisa here and today I'm sharing a couple of scene cards featuring the New Release!   For my first card, I paired the NEW Lots of Christmas Cheer Stamp Set with the NEW Slim Line Our Town Cover Plate Die.  To begin, I started with the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System and used it to cut a piece of white card stock and a red scalloped piece to mat behind it.  Using my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I added some blue distress ink to the background.  Then I die cut a piece of black card stock with the Our Town Cover Plate Die.  I adhered that to the center of my background piece.  Then I tore a piece of white card stock and added that just under the town to mimic the look of snow.  I stamped out the grouped animal image, colored it using Copic Markers and cut it out using the coordinating die.  Using foam tape, I added it to the right side of the card.  On the left side, I stamped my sentiment in black ink.  For the final touch, I added several tiny snowflakes from the NEW Santa Is Here Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert.   My next card is a fun little back-to-school scene that features two of the little cuties from the NEW Your Next Book Dear Stamp Set.  To create this card, I stamped out the NEW Medley of Fall Collage Stamp in red ink on orange paper.  Then I trimmed that into a square.  Across the bottom, I added a skinny piece of grey card stock.  On top of that some die cut grass.  Then I stamped out my images, colored them up with Copics, and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I used foam tape to add them to my scene and stamped my sentiment just below.   Thank you so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting! Guardian of the Graveyard!

by Rachelle Oltean on Aug 11 2021
Hello! It’s Rachelle and I’ve got a spooky graveyard ‘rocker’ card for you today featuring lots of the amazing Halloween products from the July Release! I began by die cutting a 5” circle from heavy weight black card stock and scoring it in half to create my ‘rocking’ card base. I applied “Lime Christmas Green Paper Glitz” to the bottom half and set it aside to dry. A second 4.75” circle was die cut twice from heavy weight orange card stock, glued together, coated with “Autumn Persimmon Paper Glitz” and set it aside to dry as well. The standing ghost from the “Not Scared? You Should Be!” Stamp Set was heat embossed with white power on heavy vellum and fussy cut. Since there are a lot of small intricate pieces on this gorgeous scene, I die cut the “Halloween Graveyard Cover Plate Die” on heavy black card stock using my metal plate adaptor and it cut perfectly! I backed the windows in the haunted house with lime green card stock to coordinate with my Paper Glitz, heat embossed the sassy sentiment and added some sequins from the “Trick Or Treaters” Sequins Mix Plus. To assemble, I reinforced the score line on the ‘rocking’ card base with my Teflon Bone Folder and attached the orange Paper Glitz circle with Scor-Tape. After determining the ghost’s position, it was adhered in place onto the orange backdrop and the graveyard die cut panel was attached on top with foam tape and liquid adhesive. A couple of tiny die cut bats (from the Witch Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert) were added to finish up the card! I just love this interactive design and that giant ghost guarding the graveyard as it rocks from side to side! Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

CAS Paper Glitz Nativity Scene with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Jul 21 2021

Hello! It’s Rachelle here and I’ve got a CAS Christmas Card to share with you today featuring Paper Glitz blending and the NEW Nativity Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert! This card would be so easy to mass produce and the two-toned Paper Glitz background is perfect against this peaceful die cut nativity scene. I began by spreading quarter-sized dollops of “Snow Drifts” and “Fall Golds” Paper Glitz onto a piece of 100# white card stock. I ran my offset palette knife across it several times to soften the edge where the two colors met. There was a bit of color blending in that area and that’s the effect I was going for in this scene. Here’s a shot of the Paper Glitz panel once it was dry – that shine is amazing! I cut a 4” x 5.25” panel of white card stock and centered the Nativity Insert Die into the top portion using my clear ruler to finalize the position. Once the interior pieces were removed from the die cut, I heat embossed the large sentiment from the “Joyeux Noel” Stamp Set underneath the scene with gold powder. I love all the different fonts in this large sentiment set – there’s something for every single winter occasion! I backed the Nativity scene with a small piece of the Paper Glitz panel, allowing the gold area to highlight the figures inside of the stable and then blend up to the turquoise night sky. This panel was backed with a piece of craft foam for dimension and attached to the center of a top-folding A2 card base. Using one of the smaller dies that comes with the Nativity Insert Die Set, I cut a Christmas star from the “Fall Golds” Paper Glitz area and attached it to the card front above the scene to finish up the card.   Thanks so much for joining me today and head over the Picket Fence Studios' Shop to check out all of the other amazing products from the latest release! Happy crafting and have a wonderful day! Rachelle
