Show the haters who is boss with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Mar 16 2021
Hi guys!  It’s Erica back on the PFS blog today with a bit of hastily made card. You see, UPS has held my package, with the March release, hostage for over a month and it only arrived late on Friday afternoon and the release day was on Sunday! There might have been a slight tint of panic in the air that weekend! Luckily, I got the Paper Glaze Enhancer earlier in the month so I played with that a little and made a few... or a lot... or a whole pile of backgrounds using that and the gorgeous Paper Glazes. I am obsessed with them already and oh boy, is that Enhancer a fun addition! There is a video over on the PFS YouTube channel if you want to learn more about it. You will also spot the background I’m using for today’s card being made.  These backgrounds are all done with the Burst Of Sun stencil and glorious Paper Glazes and some with the Enhancer. Naturally, I only remembered to take a photo of the results after I had already used one of them for the card.  In the March release there is a girl stamp called Kylee Girl, and I stamped her up with Black Hybrid Ink on Copic friendly paper. Armed with so many Copics, the exact ones can be seen in the photo below, I got to work.  Something else from the new release, that I fell heads over heels for, is the new Gem Mix. It’s called Oceans of Green and it’s stunning. I had to incorporate them somehow.  When then colouring was done, I used the coordinating diecut to cut the Kylee Girl out, and then glued her down to the background I chose. This is where the Oceans Of Green Gem Mix came in, and not just the new one! I used the Fire and Dark Side Of The Rainbow too, and matched the gems to the colour of the Paper Glaze on the different sections of the background. I used the brilliant Pick-Up Tool to make adhering them easy peasy.  To finish off the card, I stamped up ‘show the haters who is boss’ with Black Hybrid Ink on white card stock, and trimmed this down to a slim banner. That was adhered and with that, the card was done!  I hope you like it and found some inspiration here with me today. Until next time, lots of love and happy crafting from Erica and Kylee Girl.

Hello! It's Michelle here to share a card using a colour scheme I usually associate with Christmas! The white card base is inked with some green ink over the Triple Weave stencil. I added a  strip of green cardstock from my stash and then stamped the sentiment. I stamped and coloured the dragonfruit with Copic markers, before cutting them out and arranging them on the card front. Thanks for visiting :)

Beautiful Girl Madelyn with Larisa

by Larisa Hohman on Mar 10 2021
Hello!  Larisa here!  Today, I'm bringing you Beautiful Girl Madelyn with some retro vibes.  Picket Fence Studios has some of the most beautiful stamps out there!  I just love creating with the Beautiful Girls Line.   To create my card, I started with some patterned paper and trimmed it to fit the front of my card. Then I layered that on top of some lime green paper and adhered it to my card base.  Then I stamped out my image, colored her up with Copics and cut her out using the coordinating die.  I centered her on my card panel and added some die cut music notes around her.  Then I die cut and layered up the "hey you" word die in coordinating colors.  To give it some dimension, I layered it on top of some foam and then added it just below my image.  The "break a leg" sentiment from the NEW Ways To Express Yourself Set finishes it off.   , Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting! Happy Day with Karen Reategui

by Karen Reategui on Mar 03 2021
Hello friends! I hope you all are doing good and healthy. Today I'm sharing this slimline card featuring the new Slimline Nested Rectangles Dies that comes with this wonderful word dies: Happy, Day, Get Well and Lovely. All of them have the matching shadow dies too. So for this card I used the Coloring Book Stencil, Oak Leaves Die, Life Changing Blender Brushes and the new  Slimline Nested Rectangles Dies.     Let's begin! I die cut the largest stitched rectangle die out of white cardstock. Then using the Life Changing Blender Brushes I applied inks from Catherine Pooler. Once I finished, I placed the Coloring Book Stencil on top of this panel in a diagonal way and using the Life Changing Blender Brushes I applied the same color of inks.         When the panel was dry I die cut it using the 7.75"x 2.75" Nested Stitched Rectangles Die, which is the smallest one from the large rectangles. Additional, I die cut another panel from white cardstock using the 8"x 3" Nested Stitched Rectangles Die.      On top of a slimline folded card I adhered the largest panel using glue. Then, on top I placed the white panel and finally I added the smallest one that was cut out from the largest panel. I love the look of this panel and how easy was to create it using the Slimline Nested Stitched Rectangles Dies.     I also die cut the words Happy Day three times from white cardstock and one last time out of glitter cardstock. I glued all of them and placed the glitter die cuts on top. Using glue I added the Happy Day word dies to the panel. In addition, I die cut from vellum three Oak Leaves Dies and placed them behind the letters H and Y using glue. Finally, some pearls were added and this card was finished.    I hope you like this card and try the new Slimline Nested Stitched Rectangles Dies. Wishing a great day and thank you for stopping by! Hello!  I hope wherever you are the sun is shining and warming up your part of the world!  I have a couple of cards to share with you featuring sunshine and rainbows! First, is this super fun rainbow featuring the Slim Line Movement Stencil.  This is such a fun stencil as it gives the illusion of dimension!  I used the Slim Line Die Cutting System and cut 3 circles out to create space for a scene. Did you know that Picket Fence Studios has a brand new Slim Line Nested Rectangles Die Cutting System out?  It has four stitched layers, slimline label dies and four, word dies!  It's available now with no waiting for preorder or the next monthly release! I used the Cloud Coverage Stencil and LC Blender Brushes for the background. The image is from After the Storm, and the sentiment is from the Hello set.   For my next card, I inked up the beautiful Wave Sun Stencil with LC Blender Brushes.  Don't you just love the curling rays of this sun? I love the image of feminine hands raised from the BFF Favorite Hello Set.  When we come together from diverse backgrounds with love and care for one another nothing can stop us!  The sentiment is from the lovely Wild Peonies set.  Lastly, I sprinkled some Fire Gems! Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you feel inspired to create some sunshine! Que Sera Sera With Ceal Pritchett

by Ceal Pritchett on Feb 24 2021
Hey Y'all  It's Ceal , here. Today I am sharing a couple cards using quite a few of the same products like the Que Sera Sera stamp set, the Center Flower Stencil and the Pastel Paper Glaze.    My first card is a slim line created by using the Slim Line Die Cutting System. I started with a white card base and cut yellow front and the white panel using the SLDCS. I placed the Center Flower Slim Line stencil on the white pane and then added some Yellow Primrose Paper Glaze with the Mix Media Spatulas. While the paper glaze was drying, I stamped some of the flowers from the Que Sera Sera set on vellum and embossed them in white powder. I flipped them over and colored the opposite side with Copic markers. I cut the Thank You die out of yellow cardstock and backed it with vellum to match the flowers.    My second card uses the 6x6 Center Flower Stencil and I used two paper glazes in Pink Carnation and Yellow Primrose. I also used the same set Que Sera Sera but I stamped and colored the flowers on regular cardstock. I added the greeting from the Fancy Congratulations Sentiments stamp set stamped with embossing ink and embossed in gold and cut out with the Fancy Congratulations Sentiments dies

Hello! When I'm not making cards, I'm a bona fide science nerd, so this Bird of Paradise (otherwise known as Strelitzia) stamp brings out the botany nerd in me. This flower is not a flower - it is an inflorescence, which is a bunch of flowers. In this case, the individual flowers bloom one after the other in a series. They are pollinated by birds, who stand on the blue part of the flower, exposing the sticky pollen that coats their feet and that then gets carried to the next inflorescence.  If you're not bored yet, I made this card by stamping the main image and colouring it with Copic markers. I used a dark blue card base, inked with the Flowers Stencil and white pigment ink. Thanks for visiting :)

Hello! Larisa here. I hope everyone is keeping warm!  Today, I'm sharing two slim line cards featuring the new release and a couple of the beautiful girl stamps.  For my first card, I used the Slim Line Die Cutting System to cut my card base. Then I cut a smaller panel from white card stock and used the new Slim Line English Brick Wall Stencil to add a tan brick wall effect. I die cut a circle from the bottom right hand corner and backed with a black mat. I stamped out my beautiful girl image, colored her up with Copics, and die cut her out using the coordinating die. Then I added some gold thread behind her and popped her in the middle of the circle using foam tape. I added the New Seriously Word Die just above the image and stamped my sentiment just below.  For my next card, I used The Slim Line Die Cutting System to cut my card panel. Then I used the stencil and some Pink Carnation Paper Glaze to create a soft background on a strip of white card stock. Once it was dry, I trimmed it to fit my panel and adhered it down. Then I heat embossed my sentiment in white sand added a strip of gold glitter card stock. For my image, I stamped her out, colored her up with Copics, and cut her out using the coordinating die. Hello crafty friends! Today I'm sharing this floral slimline card using Aurora Borealis stamp, Wild Peonis stamp set and the new Thank You word die from the February release. I heat embossed this image and added color using Copic markers.     Let's start! Using the Slimline Die Cutting System I die cut a layering base from white cardstock and heat embossed on top the Aurora Borealis stamp using WOW! Metallic Gold Embossing Powder. Next, I adhered a white folded slimline card at the back with glue.      On a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lbs. I stamped the Wild Peonies stamp using Black Hybrid ink from Picket Fence Studios and I colored it using Copic markers. I recently damaged two Copic markers while coloring on top of a heat embossed image so from now on I decided to first stamp my image using a Copic friendly ink and then after I finished coloring I can heat emboss.      To be able to first stamp the image with ink and then stamp it again in the same place to heat emboss after you finish coloring you will need a MISTI, so don't remove your stamp from the MISTI door. So once I finished coloring I placed my piece of cardstock inside the MISTI again and inked up my image with WOW! Embossing Pad and then I heat embossed it with WOW! Metallic Gold Embossing Powder.        I fussy cut this image and added it to my background using foam tape for more dimension, then I trimmed down the parts hanging out of the edges. Additionally, I die cut 5 times the Thank You word die out of white cardstock and once from gold mirror specialty paper. I glued them all with the gold die cut on top and added it to my background next to the flowers.       As a final touch I added these new Gem Mixes coming soon to the Picket Fence Studios shop. They matched perfectly the color combination from this card that I had to used them, but they will be part of the March release. I really hope you like this card and give it a try, it's a very easy card and so elegant that I'm sure anyone would love to get it. Thank you so much for stopping by and see you next time. Have a marvelous week. Your friend, Karen

NEW Slim Lines with Larisa

by Larisa Hohman on Jan 27 2021
Hello!  Larisa here!  Today, I'm sharing a couple of slim line cards using some of the new goodies from the January Release!  Slim line cards are all the rage right now and Picket Fence Studios has you covered!  So many stencils, dies, and even envelopes!  It's your on-stop-shop for all your slim line needs!!!   For my first card, I used the NEW Slim Line Ocean Waves Cover plate.  However, instead of creating waves with it, I die cut it from glitter white card stock and made snow!  I love that it's so versatile!  I layered my glitter panel on top of some white card stock cut with the Slim Line Die Cutting System and added some die cut snowflakes throughout the scene.  For my gnomes, I stamped them out, trimmed them apart, colored them with my Copics, and tucked them into the hills of my snow banks.  Then I added some of the NEW Spring Fling Sequins and Purple Side of a Rainbow Gems to give it some sparkle.  I stamped my sentiment from the More Fancy Sentiments Stamp Set and die cut it out with the coordinating dies (this is one of my favorite sets, by the way!  Love it!).  Then I popped it on top of my card with some foam tape for added dimension.   For my next card, I created a vertical slim line card.  To begin, I die cut a piece of white card stock using the Slim Line Die Cutting System.  I die cut a smaller rectangle from white card stock as well and used the NEW The Sleeping Tree Stamp Set to stamp my tree in the center.  Then I used some distress inks and the NEW 52 Layers of Clouds Stencil to create my background, careful not to cover the center of my tree image.  I colored that in with Copics.  Then I die cut some Tall Grass and adhered that to the bottom of the image.  I added some of the NEW Fire Gem Mix to my image, matching the colors with the distress inks in the clouds.  Then I stamped my sentiment from the Fancy Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set.  I used the coordinating dies to cut it out and added it to the bottom of my scene.     Products Used: Fancy Christmas Sentiments Die Set Fancy Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set Gem Mixes- Fire Gem Mixes- Purple Side of a Rainbow Spring Fling Sequin Mix Gem Pick Up Tool 52 Layers of Clouds Stencil Slimline Tall Grass Die Slim Line Ocean Waves Cover Plate Die The Sleeping Tree Stamp Winter Snowflakes Baby, It's Cold Outside More Fancy Sentiments Clear Stamp More Fancy Sentiments Die Slimline Rainbow Envelopes Black Hybrid Ink Life Changing Blender Brushes Slim Line Die Cutting System Have a great day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing this slimline card featuring the new Oh, So Many Cards Stamp, Slimline Basket Petals Stencil and the new Gem Mixes. Let's begin! Next, I stamped the Oh, So Many Cards Stamp using WOW! Embossing Pad and heat embossed it with WOW! Metallica Silver Embossing Powder. Lastly, beneath the card are two of the beautiful Slim Line Rainbow Envelopes. Up Next, I have another slimline to share only this time I have switched the orientation.  For the background, I have stamped the 4x4 Falling hearts and then I added a top layer using circles from the Slim Line Die Cutting System. I made a faux shaker by simply adding a sprinkle of Green Fairy Sequins to each circle.  I die cut the new Always sentiment out three times and stamped LOVE from Wild Peonies.  Wild Peonies only a beautiful floral set but it also has wonderful sentiments too.   Lastly, I have my card resting on the new Slim Line Neutral envelopes!  For my last sample today, I am featuring this fun cloud scene card today which I shared on my Release Day post yesterday.  If you missed my Release Day Post you can stop by HERE to see the new Poem/watermark for the back of cards and more!  I love clouds so I couldn't wait to dive into the new  52 Layers of Clouds Stencil and the Slim Line Rising Sun Stencil.  The Slim Line Short Grass Die is fabulous and extends the full length of a slimline card!  I added "thinking of you" from the More Fancy Sentiments set and now you can purchase the Coordinating Die for exquisite sentiment styling!  I couldn't resist adding the bird silhouettes from the Sleeping Tree Set. Hello Everybody!  It's Ceal, here. Today I am sharing a card using one of my favorite floral stamps that we have in our shop, A Rose.  I have always loved this image since it was released but now I love it even more because now it has a coordinating die.  Ti create this card I started with a top folding card base, The A Rose stamp set, and some Peacock Feathers Distress ink.  I created a background for the rose by using the Geo Squares stencil along with the Life Changing Blender Brushes.  I colored the rose with Graph-It markers then cut it out with the coordinating die and added it to the card front. I used a sentiment from the More Fancy Sentiments set which now has coordinating dies also.    Below you will find links to the products used. Click the picture to start shopping. Love Ya, Paper Glazes And Stencils!

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Jan 12 2021

Hi Picket Fence Fans!  It’s Paper Glazes no1 fan, Erica, here with my first blog post for 2021!  I’ve been using crafting as a means to cope with some heartbreak and grief. For me, that’s such a welcome way to ‘take a break’ from feeling awful and just lose myself in the process for a little while. It’s probably no secret that I love the Paper Glazes, and recently I have been trying out a new technique where I have been making shimmery card stock with them! It’s super fun and oh my gosh, the possibilities are practically endless!  I have also been mixing some of the Paper Glazes to make new custom blends! It’s messy and fun.  For this card, I mixed together Daffodil Yellow, Succulent Green, Ocean Poppy and a brand new colour coming on Thursday!! I didn’t mix them totally together, I wanted the colours to show through a little bit, almost like marbling if that makes sense?  This mix I used directly onto a card base over the Geo Squares Stencil. When that was dry, I used the Love Ya diecut on black card stock and added that to the card. I kept it very simple to let the Paper Glaze shine.  The second card is done with the same layout, only with different colours and different techniques. I started by ink blending some Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink over the Geo Squares stencil. Again, direcly onto a white card base. Over this, I also added a light touch of Petunia Pink, Marigold Orange and Bee Sting Yellow Atelier Ink. The reason I used these colours was to match a piece of shimmer card stock I made with some left over Paper Glaze. This piece was created by scraping off the excess Paper Glaze I had used to create a bigger piece. Strangely, I love this bit more than the original piece!! Funny, huh? The colours used in this are Daffodil Yellow, Marigold Orange, Peony Pink, Boysenberry Violet and a touch of that new colour coming on Thursday!  I used the Love Ya die again, only this time both of the pieces. The shadow part on the shimmer piece and the words were cut out of grey card stock. I also cut out another three shadow pieces out of white card stock and layered these up.  This was then adhered to the ink blended card base and with that, this card was also done!  Isn’t it amazing what you can use the Paper Glaze’s for? Even the smallest blob of it can be used for something, so next time you bring yours out, make sure to have spare paper around to scrape off any excess glaze and use for word die cuts or the A Tree die, like I have done here.  I hope I have inspired you to look at your Paper Glazes in a new way and to help you get the most out of them, and if you haven’t tried them yet, what are you waiting for?? Come join in the fun and use the hashtag #pfpaperglaze on social media so we can see your projects!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

I have a bright and happy card to share today, using alcohol inks, pink foil and an awesome word die from Picket Fence Studios. I made a panel of yupo with pink alcohol ink and pink foil, and cut it with the Slimline diecutting system. I cut the y'all die from pink, black and white cardstock, and layered them offset to create a drop shadow.  I then stamped and white embossed the rest of the sentiment onto another piece of pink cardstock and layered it over the top. Relatively simple, but the large word die packs a punch! Thanks for visiting :)

Hello!  Larisa here and I'm so excited to be starting the new year with one of my favorite images!  This beauty is Beautiful Girl Jill.  Isn't she fabulous???   To create my card, I stamped my image in light tan ink and colored it up with Copic Markers using the "no line" technique.  Then, I die cut it out using the Coordinating Die Set.  For the background, I used the Life Changing Blender Brushes and the Evergreens Stencil.  Then, I layered my panel on top of some tan card stock and stitched around it.  Using foam tape, I added my image to the left side of the card panel.  Then I die cut the coffee word die from white and dark brown card stock, layered it up and added it to my card using foam tape as well.  Then I tucked in some die cut snowflakes, sequins, and the rest of my sentiment, stamped from the Drink Your Greens Clear Stamp Set.   I have to say, I absolutely love how this card turned out!  The products so beautifully together and I had a lot of fun creating it!   Thank you so much for stopping by!  Happy New Year!!! Happy Winter with Karen Reategui

by Karen Reategui on Dec 31 2020
Hello crafty friends! Today I'm over Picket Fence Studios Blog sharing these two cards and I decided to created an abstract background for my cards, applying different inks pads directly to paper to transfer the ink. This was really fun and super easy. Also, I'm using Snowflake Alice Die, that I heat embossed using WOW! Manuela's Honey Embossing Powder, WOW! Midas Touch Embossing Glitter, WOW! Vintage Champagne Embossing Glitter and WOW! Peppermint Scrub Embossing Glitter. The stamps for my sentiments are from Baby It's Cold Outside and A Gnome Winter Stamp Sets. Let's start! I pulled out some inks pads with different blue shades, greens and yellow. I used Catherine Pooler inks and the colors I chose were: Juniper Mist, Daydream, Eucalyptus, Green Tea and Sauna. I swipe my ink pads in different directions covering my whole panel and honestly the sky's the limit with this awesome ink background technique. Immediately, I added some water splatters and I loved this background even more. I let it dry aside. When it dried, I trimmed it down to an A2 panel. For my next background I followed the same steps and this time the inks I used were Juniper Mist, Daydream, Aquatini and a little bit of Mint to Be. All these inks are from Catherine Pooler Designs. I also added water splatters to this second background and let it dry. Once it was dry I trimmed it down to an A2 panel. Next, I die cut the Snowflake Alice Die twice out of white cardstock and I applied WOW! Embossing Pad to one of them using the WOW! Mixed Media Embossing Brush. With this brush I was able to apply the embossing in part where I wanted an specific color. So first I started by using the WOW! Manuela's Honey Embossing Powder, I heat embossed it and then I went to the next color but first I applied the embossing with the brush on those empty areas. The second embossing powder color was WOW! Midas Touch Embossing Glitter, but it was too shiny so I decided to apply more embossing on top of the areas with the Midas Touch and I simply loved the new shade of color. I think these colors turned out to be perfect for contrasting the background. I glued the second white snowflake, a bit aside, and at the back of the snowflake I just heat embossed. So now to create the first card I used my second background and I added the snowflakes on top with more glue and trimmed down the part that was outside the panel. Next, I adhered a white folded notecard at the back. Finally, I placed the sentiment from A Gnome Winter Stamp Set on top of the snowflake. I stamped this sentiment using Black Hybrid Ink by Picket Fence Studios. Lastly, I added some white sequins from Picket Fence Studios as well. For this second card I used the first background that I created at the beginning. But in this case I heat embossed WOW! Vintage Champagne Embossing Glitter and WOW! Peppermint Scrub Embossing Glitter on top of the snowflake. I think those red touches from the Peppermint Scrub were great to create more contrast making the snowflake to pop up nicely from the background. Here you can see a closer look of the snowflake and the different shades around it. The sentiment for this card is from Baby It's Cold Outside Stamp Set from Picket Fence Studios and was also stamped using Black Hybrid Ink. The sequins is Gin & Tonic Sequin Mix from Picket Fence Studios. I hope you liked these cards and try this awesome ink background technique to create really nice abstract backgrounds. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a marvelous New Year's Eve and the best wishes for this coming 2021! Your friend, Karen

A Merry Christmas Walk and More

by Angela Bode on Dec 25 2020
Hello, everyone!  Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate and Happy Everything to those who simply celebrate the every day!   After enjoying a celebration meal it's always nice to take a walk so I created a fun scene with park-goers doing just that!    First, I created an outdoor scene with the Slimline Die Cutting system.  I layered the tree die cut for a fun film strip-type scene.  After cutting the trees, I stamped warm colors using a ink and a paper towel.  Next, I sponged the clouds with Life Changing Blender Brushes and the Slimline Cloud Coverage Stencil.  I stamped the characters from the More Walk in the Park set and die cut them with the Coordinating Dies.   Here is a close up of the Red Hat Society Ladies. In this scene we have a dog walker meeting a cat!  You know I had to include that cat!  And in the bottom square we have a couple of friends sharing an ice cream treat.  I think they are enjoying a Christmas walk somewhere warm!   Next up, I have a tip to share when using the Slimline Die Cutting System.  Don't toss the die cut squares and circles when using the Die Cutting System!  They can be used as design elements in future projects as I did with this card.  First, I blended ink with the Life Changing Blender Brushes and the Slimline Waves Stencil.  Next, I colored the Leaves For Flowers and die cut them out with the Coordinating Die.  I grabbed one of the circles I have saved from previous Slimline Die Cutting System layouts and stamped the birthday sentiment from Do Good Recklessly.  Did you know that Picket Fence Studios now carries the MISTI?  The MISTI is one tool I can't do without.  I use it for every project!  I hope you enjoyed viewing samples featuring the December Release!  You can find the entire December Release HERE! Thanks for stopping by!

Pretty in Pink Thank you Card

I have a pretty-in-pink card to share today! I used the Slimline Diecutting system to create the card base and the pink panel, then I added some pink stenciling to the pink panel. I stamped and cut out a heap of flowers and leaves, coloured them with pink, purple and pale green Copic markers, and arranged them onto the card front. I then picked them all up with some Press And Seal to make adhering them in the right places easier. I finished with some sequins and a white embossed sentiment on a scrap of purple cardstock.   Thanks for visiting :)
