Hello! Today I'm sharing a card using a die in a way that was definitely not intended! I love making gingerbread men at Christmas time. A few years ago, I saw a photo on Pinterest showing how to decorate gingerbread men upside down to make gingerbread reindeer! So when Picket Fence Studios released the new gingerbread dies, I had to make a reindeer!   Thanks for visiting :)

If You've Got It, Haunt It Tag

Hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm sharing a fun little tag I made using the If You've Got It Haunt It (currently on sale!) and Triple Trouble Stamp Sets!   To create my tag, I die cut the smallest scalloped rectangle in deep purple card stock.  Then I trimmed a piece of white card stock to fit inside.  I stamped out my sentiments and my bats.  Then I stamped and colored my witch image.  After cutting her out, I added her to the center of the tag along with some gold thread.  At the top of the tag, I punched a hole and added some orange ribbon.   This tag is quick and easy to make and perfect for added a fun and whimsical touch to your Halloween Treats!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting! With Sympathy - The Cards We Never Want To Make

by Lisa Tilson on Oct 20 2021
Hello there, Lisa here today to share a sympathy card with you. These are the cards that we never want to make. I actually find it easier to have a few ready on hand to send out, then at least I am not struggling to do it when the need arises. For sympathy cards, I often keep my colours muted, or at last keep the card really simple. I never feel it's the time for a lot of clutter or "noise" on a card. I started by taking a panel of 80lb white cardstock and securing the Slim Line Changes Stencil to it (from behind) with low tack tape. Then, using Life Changing Blending Brushes, I blended Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxides randomly through the stencil. I removed the stencil and cleaned it off. Next I took the Slim Line Oversized With Sympathy Word Die and die cut it from Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock. The shadow was die cut from vellum. I adhered the die cut sentiment to the vellum using tiny dabs of wet adhesive so that they wouldn't be visible and then I set it aside to dry. I put an acrylic block on it to make sure it was really stuck down tightly. You could even add extra layers of the word die if you want, to give the card a little bit more dimension. Next, for a bit of extra interest, I took the Leaves For Flowers stamp set and stamped a selection of the leaves onto vellum using Versamark Ink. I then applied white detail embossing powder before heat setting. They were then cut out with the coordinating dies. I trimmed the stencilled panel down slightly and adhered it to an A2 top folding horizontal base card using wet adhesive.  I then added tiny bits of adhesive onto the back of the vellum and adhered that down over the centre. I put some glue onto the little leaves and placed those around the sentiment. It is definitely possible to use this slim line word die on an A2 card. I just trimmed off the excess from the sides and I like how it was the focal point. I hope that this gives you some inspiration for a clean and simple sympathy card. Until next time, happy crafting!

One Set, Two Ways!

by Larisa Hohman on Oct 06 2021
Hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm sharing two very different cards using the same stamp set: Winter Has Come To Town.   I love to stretch my supplies and come up with creative ways to use them!  Today, I'm showing you how to use one set two ways!  For my first card, I stamped out the village scene using black ink.  Then I colored it up using Copics.  For the sky, I added some distress inks and then popped up my sentiment with foam tape.  A pretty simple card that packs a colorful punch!   For my second card, I stamped the village scene again, but this time, I used light grey ink.  Then I stamped out my sentiment using red ink and used a black pen to add some shadows.  I paired the NEW Winter Scene Building People to my scene and colored them up with Copics.  A bit of foam tape, helps them stand out in the scene.  Then I layered the whole thing on some dark green card stock.   I just love that both of the cards use the same stamp set, but look so different!  Thanks so much for stopping by!     Products Used: Winter Has Come To Town Winter Scene Building People Winter Scene Building People Coordinating Die Black Hybrid Ink

Northern Lights Magic with Paper Glaze Lux

by Rachelle Oltean on Sep 22 2021

Hello Crafters! It's Rachelle here and I've got a special card to share with you today: an easy CAS design featuring a background created with a brand new product from Picket Fence Studios...the Paper Glaze Lux Ombre "Nutcracker Ballet"!  Paper Glaze Lux is a mixed media glitter-based art medium, which blends heavy body mica with a glitter infusion, providing a MAXIMUM level of shine and thickness in a spreadable glitter glaze. Your application thickness allows you to determine the opacity level and so I experimented with painting a small, diluted amount directly onto black card stock and achieved a 'Northern Lights' Effect! You can see the base color of the pearly mica pigment body and the highlighted areas of glittery shine where the Lux was a bit thicker with color "C" from this Ombre collection! I was so excited with the result and this literally took me less than 5 minutes to create! After the Paper Glaze Lux panel was dry, I trimmed it down to 3.75" x 5" and attached it to the center of a top-folding A2 black card base. Using the "Santa's Snowy Hills" Die , I cut a panel from aqua card stock and trimmed off some of the silhouette, leaving a scattering of pine trees and the single house in the distance. This panel was cut to fit the width of the card front and adhered on top.  A sloped panel was cut to size from white card stock and the sentiment (from the "Winter Has Come To Town" Stamp Set) was stamped using my MISTI. I glued the small stamped/colored/die cut figure of the man carrying home his prize Christmas tree (from the "Winter Scene Building People") onto the sentiment panel, which was attached into place on the card front. A few "Spring Fling" Sequins finished up this clean-and-simple card! This design will be so easy to mass-produce and the effect of that painted Paper Glaze Lux is stunning in real life! I encourage you to stretch all of your Paper Glaze products by using them as painting mediums! Happy crafting and have a great day! Rachelle ♥

Capricorn Girl with Michelle

by Michelle Lupton on Sep 17 2021
I'm continuing on with my series of Zodiac Girl Cards - this month, the new stamp and matching die is Capricorn Girl. I coloured her with Copic markers and popped her onto a grey and purple stenciled background. I decided she needed a little pizazz, so I added some of the new Silver Bells Paper Glitz to her horns, her eyelids and her earrings. I also mixed some with water and splattered it in the background.     Thanks for visiting :)

Winter Floral with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Sep 01 2021
Happy Wednesday! It's Rachelle with you today and can you believe it's September 1st already??? I had to look at the calendar twice just to be sure it was correct and that means it's time to get rolling on Christmas and holiday cards right now! The recent Picket Fence Studios' releases have been full of wonderful new products to get our Christmas crafting off on the right foot! I send out quite a few cards to folks who don't celebrate Christmas and the card today is the perfect way to share a bit of general winter and/or holiday cheer! I used the NEW "A Christmas Flower" Stamp Set to create this winter floral card design. I began with an A2 panel of 110# Neenah Solar White card stock and using my MISTI, I aligned the poinsettia image in the top left corner of the panel bleeding off the edge. I stamped this image using Picket Fence Studios "Black Hybrid Ink"  and then turned the panel 180 degrees and stamped it again so that the image appeared in opposite corners.  I watercolored the poinsettias, spattered the panels with diluted paints and then added a graduated blue wash around the flowers for a bit of depth. I went back into the images with a tiny paint brush (a 000) and using my gold paint, added touches of fine detail throughout; this panel was trimmed to 3.75" x 5". I heat embossed the sentiment from the "A Happy Winter To You" Stamp Set with fine gold powder onto heavy-weight vellum, trimmed it to size and wrapped it around the floral panel, securing it behind. This was attached to an A2 top-folding black card base and I added a few matte gold sequins from the NEW "Pumpkin Cookies" Sequin Mix Plus to finish up the card! I just love the sprinkling of gold on this design and those gorgeous poinsettias are the star of the show! There are so many different ways to color this beautiful image and be sure to check out Picket Fence Studios' Instagram Page where you'll find great design inspiration! Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

Scene Cards with Larisa

by Larisa Hohman on Aug 25 2021
Hello, Larisa here and today I'm sharing a couple of scene cards featuring the New Release!   For my first card, I paired the NEW Lots of Christmas Cheer Stamp Set with the NEW Slim Line Our Town Cover Plate Die.  To begin, I started with the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System and used it to cut a piece of white card stock and a red scalloped piece to mat behind it.  Using my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I added some blue distress ink to the background.  Then I die cut a piece of black card stock with the Our Town Cover Plate Die.  I adhered that to the center of my background piece.  Then I tore a piece of white card stock and added that just under the town to mimic the look of snow.  I stamped out the grouped animal image, colored it using Copic Markers and cut it out using the coordinating die.  Using foam tape, I added it to the right side of the card.  On the left side, I stamped my sentiment in black ink.  For the final touch, I added several tiny snowflakes from the NEW Santa Is Here Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert.   My next card is a fun little back-to-school scene that features two of the little cuties from the NEW Your Next Book Dear Stamp Set.  To create this card, I stamped out the NEW Medley of Fall Collage Stamp in red ink on orange paper.  Then I trimmed that into a square.  Across the bottom, I added a skinny piece of grey card stock.  On top of that some die cut grass.  Then I stamped out my images, colored them up with Copics, and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I used foam tape to add them to my scene and stamped my sentiment just below.   Thank you so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting! Guardian of the Graveyard!

by Rachelle Oltean on Aug 11 2021
Hello! It’s Rachelle and I’ve got a spooky graveyard ‘rocker’ card for you today featuring lots of the amazing Halloween products from the July Release! I began by die cutting a 5” circle from heavy weight black card stock and scoring it in half to create my ‘rocking’ card base. I applied “Lime Christmas Green Paper Glitz” to the bottom half and set it aside to dry. A second 4.75” circle was die cut twice from heavy weight orange card stock, glued together, coated with “Autumn Persimmon Paper Glitz” and set it aside to dry as well. The standing ghost from the “Not Scared? You Should Be!” Stamp Set was heat embossed with white power on heavy vellum and fussy cut. Since there are a lot of small intricate pieces on this gorgeous scene, I die cut the “Halloween Graveyard Cover Plate Die” on heavy black card stock using my metal plate adaptor and it cut perfectly! I backed the windows in the haunted house with lime green card stock to coordinate with my Paper Glitz, heat embossed the sassy sentiment and added some sequins from the “Trick Or Treaters” Sequins Mix Plus. To assemble, I reinforced the score line on the ‘rocking’ card base with my Teflon Bone Folder and attached the orange Paper Glitz circle with Scor-Tape. After determining the ghost’s position, it was adhered in place onto the orange backdrop and the graveyard die cut panel was attached on top with foam tape and liquid adhesive. A couple of tiny die cut bats (from the Witch Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert) were added to finish up the card! I just love this interactive design and that giant ghost guarding the graveyard as it rocks from side to side! Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

Hello! It's Michelle here today, and I'm sharing a card I made using a die, a stencil, a sequin mix and Paper Glitz. I used Distress Oxide inks to create the sunset in the background, and then used part of the Handcut Snowflake 6x6 Stencil and some Paper Glitz Sparkle to create the pattern in the sky. I used the Santa's Snowy Hills die to create the three tiers of snowy hills, and ink blended with some blue ink to create dimension between them. I finished with a stamped sentiment, and some snowflake shaped sequins from the Icicles sequin mix. Have you seen our 7 in 7 event on Facebook? We have 7 free classes over 7 days!
