Slimline unicorn card by Laura

by Laura Nistal on Jul 06 2022
Hello everyone!! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this slimline card that I hope will inspire you!  To start I used the "Princessland Dear" stamps that I stamped with the "Black Hybrid Ink Pad" and then painted with alcohol markers. Then I used the "Slimline Curvy Rainbow die" which I cut out of various colored card stock. Next I prepared the background: for this I used the "Slimline Die Cutting System Scallop Frames" that I cut in white cardboard and foam to make a shaker card. Inside I put the "Sequins Unicorn Sparkles" that I think combine perfectly with this card. Finally I prepared the composition, glued all the pieces and this is how the result was! I hope you like it and that it inspires you, I remember that you can find all these products and many others in the Picket Fence Studios store.  A huge kiss and until next time! Laura

Embrace The Day

by Lisa Tilson on Apr 13 2022
Hello there, Lisa here with you today to share a card using the Full Round Tree Die and I paired it with a sentiment from an older set called Face The Sun I started by taking two panels of 110lb white cardstock and adding some Stick It Adhesive onto the back of them. Taking the Full Round Tree Die, I then ran each panel through my Gemini Junior a few times as it is an intricate die. I must have been feeling very brave when I decided to cut two of them and stack them together! But I went ahead with it anyway. I adhered the die cuts together gradually working my way around the tree and poking any excess out with my craft pick! This did take some time as you probably would have guessed. However, it really did make a difference having some dimension to the tree and if I had had a bit more patience, I would have die cut a third and added it on top. I think having a bit of dimension really helps to make it stand out from the cardstock behind. For the background I selected five different coloured cardstocks. I used Concord & 9th Peacock, Oceanside and Sprout, Lawn Fawn Cilantro and Hero Arts Kiwi. I cut these into jaunty triangles with my paper trimmer. This wasn’t as simple as you’d think either. I am sure there must be a quicker (and easier) way to cut them but mine took a while and involved all sorts of pencil lines here there and everywhere. Still, I loved it at the end, so that was also worth the time and I don’t think I have ever created a background like this before! All the triangles were adhered flat onto a panel of white cardstock that I then added to a top folding A2 base card. The tree stack was then added on top with wet adhesive. I stamped a sentiment from Face The Sun onto black cardstock, added some White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I trimmed it out and popped it up with foam tape. A labour of love for sure – not that you would know it. It looks so simple! Thank you for joining me today. I hope that you have a good day, and happy crafting!

Eastertime

by Nancy Thomas on Feb 23 2022
Nancy here to share some Easter/Spring cards using the latest Picket Fence Studios release.     I stamped one of the cute images from the Eastertime set, one onto a die cut circle and the two small chicks using the Picket Fence Black Hybrid Ink Pad which were then cut out with the matching dies. All the images were colored with Copic Markers and the main image was then framed with a scalloped circle cut with the larger scallop frame from the Slim Line Scallop Frame Dies set. The chick diecuts were placed onto a small circle die cut which was framed with harvest gold cardstock cut with one of the Misshapen Stitched Circle Dies.  The shaker was created with a backing of pattered paper and several layers of cardstock cut with the smaller scallop frame from the Slim Line Scallop Frame Dies and filled with pieces from the Penny and Henny Sequins Plus Mix. I cut the card front border using the Ornate Negative Strip Die and backed with the green parakeet cardstock. I added a small strip at the top of the cut out to complete the border, then attached all the circle pieces.      For the second card, I stamped the bunny from the Hoppin' Down the Bunny Trail directly onto the card front using the the Black Hybrid Ink Pad and colored with Copic markers. I then masked the image in order to blend tumbled glass and broken china ink around it using the Life Changing Blender Brush Set. I also stamped the main image from the Hippity Hoppity to All stamp set and cut out with the matching die. After coloring with Copic markers, I cut it down to fit the A2 portrait card front. It was attached using a layer of craft foam. For the sentiment, I used the inlaid die cut technique using matted wortd die from the Hippity Hoppity to All Die set and then attached over the bunny ears with craft foam.  I hope you enjoy the rest of your week. Happy Crafting!

Aquarius Girl with Michelle

by Michelle Lupton on Nov 19 2021
Hello! I am continuing my series of cards using the Zodiac Girl stamps. This month's release is Aquarius girl, and it you look closely at her hair, it seemed obvious to me what colour it had to be! The card base is acetate, so I cut 4 pieces of cardstock with the coordinating die - one (#1) to stamp and colour in to go on the front of the card, one (#2) to go inside the front of the card to hid the adhesive from the front of the card, one  (#3) for inside the card to write a message on, and one (#4) on the back of the card to hid the adhesive from the 3rd piece. Thanks for visiting :)

Hello! Today I'm sharing a card using a die in a way that was definitely not intended! I love making gingerbread men at Christmas time. A few years ago, I saw a photo on Pinterest showing how to decorate gingerbread men upside down to make gingerbread reindeer! So when Picket Fence Studios released the new gingerbread dies, I had to make a reindeer!   Thanks for visiting :)

One Set, Two Ways!

by Larisa Hohman on Oct 06 2021
Hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm sharing two very different cards using the same stamp set: Winter Has Come To Town.   I love to stretch my supplies and come up with creative ways to use them!  Today, I'm showing you how to use one set two ways!  For my first card, I stamped out the village scene using black ink.  Then I colored it up using Copics.  For the sky, I added some distress inks and then popped up my sentiment with foam tape.  A pretty simple card that packs a colorful punch!   For my second card, I stamped the village scene again, but this time, I used light grey ink.  Then I stamped out my sentiment using red ink and used a black pen to add some shadows.  I paired the NEW Winter Scene Building People to my scene and colored them up with Copics.  A bit of foam tape, helps them stand out in the scene.  Then I layered the whole thing on some dark green card stock.   I just love that both of the cards use the same stamp set, but look so different!  Thanks so much for stopping by!     Products Used: Winter Has Come To Town Winter Scene Building People Winter Scene Building People Coordinating Die Black Hybrid Ink

Capricorn Girl with Michelle

by Michelle Lupton on Sep 17 2021
I'm continuing on with my series of Zodiac Girl Cards - this month, the new stamp and matching die is Capricorn Girl. I coloured her with Copic markers and popped her onto a grey and purple stenciled background. I decided she needed a little pizazz, so I added some of the new Silver Bells Paper Glitz to her horns, her eyelids and her earrings. I also mixed some with water and splattered it in the background.     Thanks for visiting :)

Coloring with Paper Glitz

by Karen Reategui on Sep 13 2021

Hello crafty friends! Today i'm sharing one of the cards that I made for the 7 in 7 event. On this slimline card I colored through a stencil using Paper Glitz and a dauber. The products that I used for this slimline card are Slim Line Oversized Joy to the World Die, Slim Line Cut Flower Stencil, Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon,  Paper Glitz Lime Christmas Green, Paper Glitz True Christmas Red and Slim Line Die Cutting System.    I started by adding Pixie spray to the back of the Slim Line Cut Flower stencil, then I placed it on top of a heavy cardstock. I applied small quantities of Paper Glitz with dauber, coloring the center of the flower, the petals and the space around.  The colors I used were Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon, Paper Glitz Lime Christmas Green, Paper Glitz True Christmas Red. Next, I let the panel dry for about 20 minutes. Paper Glitz is a medium that dries very fast which is very helpful. Once my panel was dry, I die cut it using a layering base die from the Slim Line Die Cutting System. I also added on top of this background a piece of velum. Then, I adhered a black folded card base. On a piece of cardstock I applied  Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon using a spatula and let it dry. Once it was dry, I die cut the  Slim Line Oversized Joy to the World Die out of it. Additionally, I die cut another set of these dies out of white cardstock to be used as a shadow behind the die cuts with Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon. Finally, I added the Joy to the World die cuts on top of the velum using tape runner and this Slimline Christmas card was ready. Below you will find a list of supplies that I used to created this card. I hope you like this card and give a try this very fun technique. Enjoy your week and happy crafting! Your friend,  Karen

Winter Floral with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Sep 01 2021
Happy Wednesday! It's Rachelle with you today and can you believe it's September 1st already??? I had to look at the calendar twice just to be sure it was correct and that means it's time to get rolling on Christmas and holiday cards right now! The recent Picket Fence Studios' releases have been full of wonderful new products to get our Christmas crafting off on the right foot! I send out quite a few cards to folks who don't celebrate Christmas and the card today is the perfect way to share a bit of general winter and/or holiday cheer! I used the NEW "A Christmas Flower" Stamp Set to create this winter floral card design. I began with an A2 panel of 110# Neenah Solar White card stock and using my MISTI, I aligned the poinsettia image in the top left corner of the panel bleeding off the edge. I stamped this image using Picket Fence Studios "Black Hybrid Ink"  and then turned the panel 180 degrees and stamped it again so that the image appeared in opposite corners.  I watercolored the poinsettias, spattered the panels with diluted paints and then added a graduated blue wash around the flowers for a bit of depth. I went back into the images with a tiny paint brush (a 000) and using my gold paint, added touches of fine detail throughout; this panel was trimmed to 3.75" x 5". I heat embossed the sentiment from the "A Happy Winter To You" Stamp Set with fine gold powder onto heavy-weight vellum, trimmed it to size and wrapped it around the floral panel, securing it behind. This was attached to an A2 top-folding black card base and I added a few matte gold sequins from the NEW "Pumpkin Cookies" Sequin Mix Plus to finish up the card! I just love the sprinkling of gold on this design and those gorgeous poinsettias are the star of the show! There are so many different ways to color this beautiful image and be sure to check out Picket Fence Studios' Instagram Page where you'll find great design inspiration! Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

Guardian of the Graveyard!

by Rachelle Oltean on Aug 11 2021
Hello! It’s Rachelle and I’ve got a spooky graveyard ‘rocker’ card for you today featuring lots of the amazing Halloween products from the July Release! I began by die cutting a 5” circle from heavy weight black card stock and scoring it in half to create my ‘rocking’ card base. I applied “Lime Christmas Green Paper Glitz” to the bottom half and set it aside to dry. A second 4.75” circle was die cut twice from heavy weight orange card stock, glued together, coated with “Autumn Persimmon Paper Glitz” and set it aside to dry as well. The standing ghost from the “Not Scared? You Should Be!” Stamp Set was heat embossed with white power on heavy vellum and fussy cut. Since there are a lot of small intricate pieces on this gorgeous scene, I die cut the “Halloween Graveyard Cover Plate Die” on heavy black card stock using my metal plate adaptor and it cut perfectly! I backed the windows in the haunted house with lime green card stock to coordinate with my Paper Glitz, heat embossed the sassy sentiment and added some sequins from the “Trick Or Treaters” Sequins Mix Plus. To assemble, I reinforced the score line on the ‘rocking’ card base with my Teflon Bone Folder and attached the orange Paper Glitz circle with Scor-Tape. After determining the ghost’s position, it was adhered in place onto the orange backdrop and the graveyard die cut panel was attached on top with foam tape and liquid adhesive. A couple of tiny die cut bats (from the Witch Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert) were added to finish up the card! I just love this interactive design and that giant ghost guarding the graveyard as it rocks from side to side! Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

Who says Christmas cards can't also be rainbow? i used three colours of Distress Oxide ink to create this rainbow over the Handcut snowflake 6x6 stencil, and added a stamped sentiment from the Joyeux Noel set. Quick, easy, and a one layer card, so very easy to post. Thanks for visiting :)

Eiko Girl

by Larisa Hohman on Aug 04 2021
Hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm bringing you a bright and colorful card featuring the Beautiful Girl Eiko Girl Clear Stamp Set! To create my card, I started with some colorful patterned paper in my stash and trimmed it to fit the front of my A2 sized card panel.  Then I stamped out the BUZZ 4x4 Seamless Stamp, colored it with Copics, and die cut it using a large circle die in my stash.  I layered that on top of a bright blue doily and adhered them both to the center of my card.  Next, I stamped out the Eiko Girl image, colored her with Copics, and cut her out using the coordinating die.  Using foam tape, I added her to the center of the card and layered up some patterned paper strips behind her.  A big bold sentiment across the center finished it off.   Products Used: Eiko Girl Stamp Set Eiko Girl Coordinating Die Buzz 4x4 Seamless Stamp Favorite Notification Stamp Black Hybrid Ink Pad Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!
