Best Dad Ever with Susie Moore

by Susie Moore on May 18 2020
Hello Monday Friends! Today I want to share with you a great new stamp set called Dad's Day. Take a look: Can you believe all the built in shading in that hamburger? It was an absolute dream to color. I used a combination of Karin and Copic markers. I added the main sentiment and then the sub-sentiment to make it even more personal. I plan to give this card to my husband for Father's Day so I wanted the perfect sentiment and I think I found it right in this set! I hope you enjoyed today's card. It is my PASSION to create and share with you. You can see this set plus so much more by visiting Picket Fence Studios today. Susie Created4Creativity

To The Lovely Couple Wedding Ensemble

by Becky Roberts on May 16 2020
Happy Friday Stampers!  Becky Roberts here from Inking Idaho with some brand new stamps to share with you from the May Release! This beautiful wedding cake is from the To The Lovely Couple stamp set. It makes a gorgeous wedding card as well as Save the Date or Mr. and Mrs.  There are several sentiments in the stamp set that work great with the cake. I used the A Rose stamp as a background and colored the cake with Copic Markers. To The Lovely Couple  The new A Rose stamp set is a super pretty one!  It is great for coloring but also beautiful if you just stamp on colored cardstock.  I've used it here as a background for the card as well. A Rose stamp set and die I used the flowers from the wedding cake to embellish the basket and filled it with paper flowers for a beautiful wedding ensemble. Have a wonderful weekend! Becky

Loving this May Release with Karen Reategui

Hi friends! Today I’m over Picket Fence Studios Blog sharing all cards I made for this new release. There’s a whole lot of awesomeness in this May release. I have made several cards and I’ll be showing you how I did one of them. So let’s get started. For this card, I’m featuring the Dad’s Day Stamp that I stamped onto Strathmore Bristol watercolor paper using Black Hybrid ink. Then, I added color using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. Once my panel was dry, I added a piece of pattern paper and a black card base at the back using glue. Next, I placed the Quilting Market Stencil by Picket Fence Studios on top of my panel and applied white ink usually a Life Changing Blender Brush. Finally, I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment from the same Dad’s Day Stamp Set onto black and added to the background plus a few white Nuvo Drops as a final touch and my card was finished. So now let’s see all the cards I made for this awesome release! For this card, I did a no-line coloring for the Nautilus Shell. Then, I created the background using LDRS inks and the Life Changing Blender Brushes from Picket Fence Studios and added Snowdrop White Paper Glaze at the back. I’m in love with this color combination for this nautical card. On this card, I’m using A Rose Stamp, which is absolutely gorgeous. The size of this rose creates a great focal point in your card. I heat embossed all the flowers and leaves using silver embossing powder and also I did a copic coloring. Here I have a shaker card and if you follow me you know how much I love shaker cards. I’m also using A Rose Stamp and you can use this stamp for a Mother’s Day card just like I did it. On these two cards I also did a no-line coloring. I kept these cards very simple and with a black and white backgrounds since I the flowers already had a lot of colors and I wanted them to be the focal point. Next, I have this card featuring the Spliced Heart Stencil. There are many possibilities for this awesome stencil. I simply love this stamp You or WIFI. I even love the name lol. It comes with fabulous sentiments too. And for this card, I did a Copic coloring and kept it very simple since my main idea on this card was to express a very relaxing scene where you can go and unplug! I have a set of two cards and one more below where I’m using Fleur di lis Stencil with a mix of Paper Glaze. And on this card, I actually mixed three different colors of Paper Glaze and created this new color. It could be Red, Carmine, Poppy... You name it! For this card, I also mixed more colors of Paper Glaze and got this awesome coffee color. This stamp set is gorgeous! To the Lovely Couple Stamp Set is perfect for Birthday cards, Weddings and other celebrations. I have heat embossed the cake using gold embossing powder and did a simple Copic coloring. And for my last card I made a shaker card. I also used To the Lovely Couple Stamp Set and white heat embossed the image. Well, these were my cards for this May Release from Picket Fence Studios and I hope I can inspire you a little bit. Remember Picket Fence Studios is having free shipping on all USA orders. Have a phenomenal day my friends! Karen

Two Words and One Finger

by Lisa Henke on May 13 2020
Happy Wednesday crafty friends. We are one sleep away from the May Release, but until then, I am happy to share this beauty with you. It's neutral, and full of texture and the sentiment steals the show. The Never Fake a Sarcasm stamp set is back in stock. It's awesome and so so, so funny.     I decided to show off the sentiment with some Paper Glaze and the Flowers Stencil. I started with the Flowers Stencil (it might be out of stock, but you could use any stencil to create your own background and texture. PFS has so many great ones to choose from), some ink, and. blending brush. I blended on the ink and then stamped the sentiment over top. On a separate piece of card stock, I added the amazing texture with Fern Green Paper Glaze.      I added a Mist scalloped border and some twine to finish it off. I really enjoy creating cards with limited supplies.  This one uses a stamp and stencil and some fun with ink and paper glaze. Have you tried it yet? You should. Check out all the colors. See you back here tomorrow for the New Release!

Hello!  It's Sara from Much Love, Sara.  I'm here today to share a card with you using the Fireflies on a Warm Night Stamp Set, and Coordinating Dies from the April Release.   I love images that allow me to color, but sometimes - with large images - I like a bit of a shortcut with the coloring.  The Fireflies on a Warm Night Stamp Set, is one that you can use an easy "cheat" to get a pretty image, using colored pencils.

Guest Designer Maria Willis

by Lydia Fiedler on May 09 2020
Our guest designer for April was Maria Willis - and her work is just incredible. We loved seeing what she did with our Face the Sun set, and getting to know her better! You can see more of her beautiful creations at her site - Cardbomb and over on YouTube and Instagram. Hi! My name is Maria Willis and I’m from a small town in California. I’ve been a lover of arts and crafts and homemade things my whole life. In 2015 I was introduced to stamping and card making. I dove in headfirst and have never looked back. Since then I’ve a discovered a love for mixed media, exploring products in-depth to figure out all the ways I can use them, and making a big crafty mess! I’m so excited that I’m able to share the joy I get from crafting with you. _____________________________________________________ Maria's stunning loose watercolor  with our Face the Sun set is a joy to behold, and her design echoes the sentiment, with the light falling onto the flower and the darker blue behind it. A masterpiece.  Again with watercolor, this time she did emboss resist, which makes the entire Face the Sun image just glow. The cheery colors are perfect for the encouraging sentiment. Rainbows anyone? Using emboss resist and a dramatic black background, Maria's unexpected rainbow sunflower is such a happy composition!   So many different looks from one stamp! Thank you for being our guest, Maria - we are honored! You can see the rest of the Face the Sun set below, and see our other large florals here.

You Did It!

by Angela Bode on May 08 2020
About four years ago, we sat in a conference room with a large group of families listening to University faculty orientate us on college life.  I sat there with my stomach in knots, excited and terrified.  One of the mantras of the weekend was "Do it in Four!"  Even as I write this I am getting a little choked up thinking about my emotions that day.  Yesterday our son's name would have been called.  He would have walked across the stage and I would have had tears streaming down my eyes and a heart bursting with pride!  Instead, we will have a home celebration and my heart will still overflow with pride! So today, I am thinking of all the High School and College graduates and those who have been rooting for them!  You Did It!  It was a strange ending but you did it!  I can't wait to hear the stories of how the graduating classes of 2020 change the world! For my graduation card, I was inspired by the Free 4 All Challenge at SCS to "Walk on the Wild Side".  I decided to take it literally and use the fabulous Walk, Crawl Run sneakers.  Aren't they fabulous?  Since the challenge is "Walk on the Wild Side" I created a wildly bright background and used a sentiment from I Freaking Love You.  It's a different kind of graduation card but if any graduating class deserves something unusual it's this one!   This is a great time to shop at Picket Fence Studios because they are offering FREE Shipping on all US orders! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hello Everyone! It's Ceal here. Today I am sharing a card made using this gorgeous set, Ponchatoula Strawberries from our April release. Picket Fence has become known for their gorgeous large images and this set does not disappoint, it is so fun to color.  I also love that this set has coordinating dies.  The greeting I chose is from a different set, but so appropriate for what we are currently going through as a country and as a world.   To create this card I started with a black top folding card base and a piece of Bristol for the image. I used the Karin markers to color the image and they blend so well on bristol.  After the image was all colored I used the coordinating die to cut it out and popped it up using foam tape on the black card base. I love how it stands out against the black. To finish the card I added a greeting from the Face The Sun set and embossed it with white powder.  Stay home and Stay safe!     We are offing free shipping on all us orders until futher notice

Fireflies On A Warm Night Two Ways with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on May 05 2020
Hello, hello!  Erica back on the PFS blog today with two firefly cards! Lots and lots and lots of Copic colouring on one of these, but well worth the time spent! On the other one I cheated and used ink blending.  On my Copic card I started out by stamping the jar from the Fireflies On a Warm Night in the bottom right corner. I used my MISTI and the Hybrid Black ink to make sure I got a good, solid imprint. I also stamped up loads of the fireflies, both in the jar and is if they are flying out of it. Even though the lid is still on the jar.  I'm kind of sad I didn't film the colouring process, because it did turn out pretty cool, if I may say so myself. To make the fireflies pop, and for a surprise element, I added Glow In The Dark Nuvo drops to them!    The final touch was to heat emboss the sentiment 'Your light makes all bright' in Opaque Bright White embossing powder and the card was done!  For the second card I started out by stamping the jar and fireflies with Hybrid Black ink again. The jar was only for guidance as I planned on cutting it out with the coordinating diecut and heat embossing it with clear to make it look lifelike.  I tried masking fluid for the first time on the fireflies, and I don't know if I just have a bad batch but mine did not come off very easily. It even ruined the paper a little bit, but oh well. I think I was able to cover it up quite well in the end.  With Life Changing Blender Brushes I created the glow around the fireflies by blending Squeezed Lemonade and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide inks. The rest of the background was made dark with blues and a bit of Black Soot to draw in the eye.  On a new piece of paper I stamped up the jar again, and added some colour to it with Copics. Then I tried something new to me, which is the Mixed Media brush from WOW! Embossing, all over the jar and added a heavy coating of Clear Gloss embossing powder to it. I probably went a little bit too heavy with the brush but it worked quite well anyway. If I do this again, I will make sure to diecut the piece first though as the embossing got a little smudged when I ran it through my die cutting machine.  To finish the card I stamped up the same sentiment as the first card, but on Kraft card stock with Hybrid Black ink. This has been trimmed down and I punched out a hole too, so I could thread it on some sparkly twine that I then wrapped around the jar.  This I adhered to the card and with that, the second card was done.  Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have found some inspiration here with me and will try some of these card ideas for yourself.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Picket Fence Studios + WOW Blog Hop!

Do you enjoy heat embossing? Do you like watching embossing powder melt? How many jars of embossing powder do you have squirreled away? What is your go-to heating gun/tool? I have always been a huge fan of WOW! embossing powder. The powders and glitters created by this English-based company have always helped satisfy my craving for color and consistency when I heat emboss on cards and mixed media projects. Today, I have two slimline cards to share withyou. First - this fun jellyfish card. Using Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock 110 lb., I first covered the entire card with WOW! Embossing Pad Clear Ultra Slow Drying ink. Next, I covered the entire card base with Ranger’s Anti-static Powder. There is no rhyme or reason or order to the process of dumping the embossing powders or glitters. Just have fun! I did put all of the extra mixed-up powders into an extra jar for later use. (Quick fact: WOW! triple removes static from their jars before filling with embossing powder or glitters. So, keep your powders in the WOW! jars for less static when storing. WOW! sells empty jars for storing your homemade mixes!)Embossing Powders and Embossing Glitters Used for Card Base: OCEANICWHITE PEARL SUPER FINECLEAR GLOSS SUPER HIGHOPAQUE BRIGHT WHITEWHITE PUFFSPRING BREEZEBAHAMA These powders were layered and heated a few times to achieve a mixed-color background that was so pretty I almost didn’t want to cover it! I used the Dual Heat Tool by WOW!. I really like this heat tool, because it has a longer plastic cover over the heating element to protect from burning paper or body parts. Then, I die cut two Just a Branch by Picket Fence Studios dies from the same Neenah cardstock and covered them both with WOW! Embossing Pad Clear Ultra Slow Drying Ink directly pad to paper. While the ink was still very wet, I poured Primary Bird of Paradise Embossing Powder and heat-set the branches, twice. But, I was still looking for more of a wow punch (pun intended) from the branches/coral on this card. So, I grabbed a new tool from WOW! Mixed Media Embossing Brush by Seth Apter. It’s an embossing ink with a brush - think nail polish. This is a genius product! No more using an embossing ink pad to add a second coat of powder! You can apply the ink with a brush. It truly makes my heart sing. I applied this embossing ink onto the branches/coral using the embossing brush, poured Sunburst and Sea Mist embossing powders, and melted the powders together to create a textured look for more real-life looking coral for this card.  Using Picket Fence Studios’ Intense Black Hybrid Ink and Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock, I used my Original MISTI to stamp seven jellyfish from Picket Fence Studios’ Swim in the Sea stamp set. After I used Picket Fence Studios’ Paper Glaze to rainbow color each jellyfish and die cut them using the coordinating die cut set, Swim in the Sea. For a bit more sea-like jellyfish, Iadded Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the “head” portion of each jellyfish. Lastly, I adhered everything to my card including sequins to the base and stamped the sentiment, “Stay Salty,” from Picket Fence Studios’ stamp set, I am a Mermaid using StazOn Piano Black Pigment Opaque Solvent Ink and the Memory MISTI by My Sweet Petunia. For my second card for our collaboration with WOW!, I started with a slimline card base of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock. I ink blended using Picket Fence Studios’ Life Changing Blender Brushes using the following inks: Stamp Market Sea Glass dye ink and Catherine Pooler’s Daydream and Blackjack dye inks to create an ombre effect across my card base. After the ink dried, I used Ranger’s Anti-static Powder across the entire card to be sure stray embossing powder did not grab onto any parts of the paper. I then stamped five pools of fish using Picket Fence Studios’ One Year Older stamp set using WOW! Embossing Pad Clear Ultra Slow Drying Ink. One of the pools of fish I used WOW! Primary Evergreen embossing powder to highlight a starting point for my card.   The last four pools of fish I dumped and heat-set using WOW! Bright White embossing powder, which gave the card base a whimsical look to match the five fish I stamped in Picket Fence Studios’ Intense Black Hybrid ink, colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and die-cut also from Picket Fence Studios’ One Year Older coordinating die-set. Lastly, I splattered the card with black, white, and purple paint, stamped using a sentiment from Picket Fence Studios’ Schools of Fish stamp set in Picket Fence Studios’ Intense Black Hybrid Ink using the Original MISTI, added sequins, and the fish. The card base was adhered to a piece of Gina K’s Tranquil Teal cardstock cut to fit the slimline card front.Note: the fish and jellyfish from both cards were first stamped in black hybrid ink and embossing ink with clear embossing powder heat-set. This creates a finished and polished look that helps the card have a more cohesive style. It also helps keep ink within the lines of the stamped design when water coloring. Face The Sun with Mindy Eggen

by Mindy Eggen on Apr 29 2020
Welcome back everyone! I hope you are having an amazing week. Today I'm sharing a card I created for the Picket Fence Studios April Release featuring Face The Sun stamp set. The first thing I think of when I see Picket Fence Studios is their gorgeous large images. They already have quite a collection of them and here is one more! While these images are amazing to color, they also make great background pieces. I created my background by first ink blending Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks using Life Changing Blending Brushes onto Neenah Solar White cardstock. Once that was completed dry, I prepped the background with an anti-static powder tool and stamped the large image in the corners of the card with clear ink with the help of my Misti Stamping Tool. I sprinkled on the white embossing powder and heat set with my Wagner Heat Gun. I personally like doing the heat embossing after the ink blending because I feel the white stands out more. Yes, you could do the emboss resist technique and wipe away the excess ink, but I find it's never quite as bright. Once everything was dry, spritzed the background with water and dabbed up with a paper towel. I also flicked on a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls in the colors Perfect Pearls and Iris. I finished off the card by heat embossing a sentiment from the Fireflies on a Warm Night stamp set in white embossing powder onto black cardstock. Then trimming down and adding to the card front with foam squares. I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration and will head over to the Picket Fence Designs website to check out this stamp and all the other amazing products they carry! Face The Sun In Bright Colours with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Apr 28 2020
Hi everyone!  How are we doing? Keeping safe and occupied or going stir-crazy? It’s ok to swing back and forth between the two, I know I do! These are trying times and we can only do the best we can do deal with the situation but please do be safe and stay home if you can!  Today’s card is a sort of juxtaposition of my feelings, in that it’s a flower but coloured in very non-natural colours. At least for this kind of flower. I love the Face The Sun sunflower, and yes, I’m well aware that I say I love all the flowers! LOL! I can’t help it, big flower lover over here. I started out by stamping it on a Neenah card base, directly, with the Hybrid Black ink and of course with the Mini MISTI to get a super detailed image. This stamp has so many fine details I’d definitely recommend using a stamping platform tool of some sort to make sure you get all the little bits stamped.  Scanning my Copic Hex Chart, from Sandy Allnock, I picked out teals markers to colour the stem and foliage bits. Instead of colouring it as I normally do though, I decided to try something new. I have drawn one line with one colour, starting with the darkest, and then with the next colour I have slightly overlapped it, without making any attempts at blending them.  I wasn’t sure how this would turn out but I must admit, I love it!  Next it was time to colour the actual flower itself and the only choice was another bold colour! I went for an array of deep red, fushias and light pink. The petals I coloured in the same way as the stem and foliage and it turned out pretty cool too.  I also added lots of white highlights with a white Posca pen. I have had zero luck finding a gel pen that doesn’t dry up on me right away so I’m sticking to the Posca pens from now on.  Of course I could have stopped there but did I? No, ma’am, I did not. I decided to shade the flower in grays and a light blue to make it pop. It didn’t exactly turn out as I was hoping but I’m not hating it either.  The only thing left to do was add a sentiment. I picked one from the Face The Sun stamp set, and it says ‘Spread seeds of happiness, joy and love’. Which I thought was quite perfect. Looking for the silver lining in every situation makes it easier to deal with it, at least I find that.  Well, with that, I’m done. I hope you found some inspiration here today.  Lots of love, germ-free virtual hugs and happy crafting from Erica

Hello Monday Friends! I am so pleased to be on the blog today bringing you a wonderful stamp set with matching dies called Ponchatoula Strawberries. Take a look at both:   I was a little nervous coloring the strawberries because red Copic markers can be a challenge, but with the built in shading of the stamp I was able to get some pretty tasty strawberries to appear! I hope you enjoyed today's card. Sharing it with you gives me so much happiness! You can see these items plus so much more by visiting Picket Fence Studios today. Susie Created4Creativity

Cake Is Important To A Happy Life!

by Becky Roberts on Apr 24 2020
Hi stampers, Becky Roberts here from Inking Idaho. Who loves cake?  It seems like I've been cooking non stop lately with everyone home and I've made a few cakes the last month. My family loves dessert!!  I like cake but not as much as I love coloring cakes, so today I have three cards to share featuring cake and images from the Let's Decorate Stamp Set. I have colored the images with Copic Markers and used the dies to cut them out.  The cake is popped up on Foam Squares. Let's Decorate Stamp Set         Let's Decorate Dies I made the backgrounds using Distress Oxide ink and Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Blender Brushes. Have you tried these yet?  They make ink blending so smooth and easy! Hello friends! Today I’m over Picket Fence Studios Blog sharing this card where I’m featuring the Geo Pineapple and Pineapple Collage Stencils, Something Sweet Stamp Set for my sentiment, Rose Gold, Daffodil Yellow and Leaf Green Paper Glaze. Let’s begin! I started by placing the Pineapple Collage Stencil on top of a panel and using the Life Changing Blender Brushes I applied the ink. I used the following colors from LDRS Creative: Key Lime Pie, Olive Branch, Lantern Yellow and Iced Tea. They work really awesome by the way!   Then, I placed the Geo Pineapple on top of this background and I applied Rose Gold, Daffodil Yellow and Leaf Green Paper Glaze. I spread the paper glaze and also I pat using the same spatula to create more texture. Also, to speed up the drying process I used my heat tool on top and got those wonderful bubbles that completed the texture on this card. Once it was dry I added some Nuvo drops for a final touch on the pineapple. Finally, I stamped the sentiment from Something Sweet Stamp Set using the Black Hybrid ink. I adhered a white card base at the back and this card was finished. I really hope you got some inspiration and try these stencil and paper glaze. Have a wonderful day! Karen

Round and Round

by Lisa Henke on Apr 22 2020
Hello friends. I am excited to share a little rainbow of happiness from the latest PFS Release. Did you check it out yet? Last week we shared a whole lot of awesomeness for April. You can view all the new release products HERE!   I can't help myself and sing the song lyrics "Right Round baby Right Round" when I see this stamp. lol. It's called Round and Round We Go and it is such a fun background stamp. Did you know, these smaller backgrounds are actually repeating backgrounds and can be used on any size project? I didn't use it that way on this card but it is super easy to do. Nicole takes special care when designing these stamps and you simply move the image over, line up the edges and stamp again to repeat the pattern. I love that about these.  Today I just used it stamped once, but I made a statement with it by inking it up with a rainbow of colors using Catherine Pooler Inks. Mini ink pads work best for this technique and make the job a little faster. I made sure the inks overlapped a bit  when I changed colors and used my finger to "tap" out any harsh lines between colors, BEFORE I stamped. Once the colors were down on the stamp, I gave it a quick huff with my breath to re-activate any of the ink that may have started to dry. Then I stamped with good even pressure all around. I used my Misti, so if it wasn't perfect I could go back in and re-ink, careful to place the ink colors in the same positions.  I set that panel aside and then used my favorite Hello Word die, but from Midnight card stock. I love a good bold black sentiment when working with rainbow colors. I added a pretty scalloped frame and a scattering of sequins to finish off the card. It was simple, but I love the results.  I hope you smile today and find some time this week to create something you love. Virtual Hugs, Lisa Henke
