Happy Fall Y'all, it's Sandi MacIver here and today I'm sharing two cards created with more new products from Picket Fence Studios August Release.
Fall is sneaking up on us quickly, too quickly it seems, which prompted me to create these two cards.
So let's talk backgrounds.
In creating today's cards, I decided to focus on some fun backgrounds and two different ways to create them.
Sometimes when you want to create a quick and easy card, it can look a little naked with just a couple of die cuts attached to the front right?
By simply adding a tone on tone stamped background, you create depth and interest solving that problem.
Happy Fall Y'all - Slimline Card
To add some "background noise" as I like to call it, I used the A Medley of Fall Collage repeating stamp.
Stamp tone on tone to create this background using either a VersaMark stamp that will create a watermark look.
Or you can use a similar color ink as your background cardstock. i.e. in my image above, Kraft Ink on Kraft cardstock.
Next, use the Misti Stamping Tool to align the repeating stamp to stamp the entire front of your slimline piece.
This is a quick and easy way to add a beautiful coordinating background to your card.
Cut the Prayers Word Topper Die in Mirror Gold paper and attach to card front.
Finally, die cut leaves from watercolor paper, add a quick watercolor wash in fall colors and attach.
To embellish, I added some Pumpkin Cookies Sequin Mix for a little bling and to frame my art pieces.
The gold sequins match my sentiment, and I love the little pumpkin images in these sequins, so fun.
Cardmaking Background Idea #2
The second background idea is also easy, just not quite so quick.
Take the beautiful leaf dies from Picket Fence Studios:
Die cut them out of the same card stock as the base card.
Next, glue them all over the front of the card base.
Die cut the Happy Fall Y'all Word Topper Die from Mirror Gold (love this die so much and it cut's beautifully).
Again, die cut more leaves from watercolor paper, and add a quick watercolor wash in fall colors.
Attach both to the card front.
Finally, I'm over the moon for the Autumn Leaves Gem Mix. These gems have many faucets cut in them and are super sparkly in beautiful colors.
So, I glued them all over the front of this card in between all my background leaves.
Talk about bling, so fun.
There you go, two quick and easy ways to add depth and interest to your die cut cards.
I hope you will give both ideas a try.
