Hello! Today I'm sharing a card using a die in a way that was definitely not intended! I love making gingerbread men at Christmas time. A few years ago, I saw a photo on Pinterest showing how to decorate gingerbread men upside down to make gingerbread reindeer! So when Picket Fence Studios released the new gingerbread dies, I had to make a reindeer!   Thanks for visiting :)

One Set, Two Ways!

by Larisa Hohman on Oct 06 2021
Hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm sharing two very different cards using the same stamp set: Winter Has Come To Town.   I love to stretch my supplies and come up with creative ways to use them!  Today, I'm showing you how to use one set two ways!  For my first card, I stamped out the village scene using black ink.  Then I colored it up using Copics.  For the sky, I added some distress inks and then popped up my sentiment with foam tape.  A pretty simple card that packs a colorful punch!   For my second card, I stamped the village scene again, but this time, I used light grey ink.  Then I stamped out my sentiment using red ink and used a black pen to add some shadows.  I paired the NEW Winter Scene Building People to my scene and colored them up with Copics.  A bit of foam tape, helps them stand out in the scene.  Then I layered the whole thing on some dark green card stock.   I just love that both of the cards use the same stamp set, but look so different!  Thanks so much for stopping by!     Products Used: Winter Has Come To Town Winter Scene Building People Winter Scene Building People Coordinating Die Black Hybrid Ink

Northern Lights Magic with Paper Glaze Lux

Hello Crafters! It's Rachelle here and I've got a special card to share with you today: an easy CAS design featuring a background created with a brand new product from Picket Fence Studios...the Paper Glaze Lux Ombre "Nutcracker Ballet"!  Paper Glaze Lux is a mixed media glitter-based art medium, which blends heavy body mica with a glitter infusion, providing a MAXIMUM level of shine and thickness in a spreadable glitter glaze. Your application thickness allows you to determine the opacity level and so I experimented with painting a small, diluted amount directly onto black card stock and achieved a 'Northern Lights' Effect! You can see the base color of the pearly mica pigment body and the highlighted areas of glittery shine where the Lux was a bit thicker with color "C" from this Ombre collection! I was so excited with the result and this literally took me less than 5 minutes to create! After the Paper Glaze Lux panel was dry, I trimmed it down to 3.75" x 5" and attached it to the center of a top-folding A2 black card base. Using the "Santa's Snowy Hills" Die , I cut a panel from aqua card stock and trimmed off some of the silhouette, leaving a scattering of pine trees and the single house in the distance. This panel was cut to fit the width of the card front and adhered on top.  A sloped panel was cut to size from white card stock and the sentiment (from the "Winter Has Come To Town" Stamp Set) was stamped using my MISTI. I glued the small stamped/colored/die cut figure of the man carrying home his prize Christmas tree (from the "Winter Scene Building People") onto the sentiment panel, which was attached into place on the card front. A few "Spring Fling" Sequins finished up this clean-and-simple card! This design will be so easy to mass-produce and the effect of that painted Paper Glaze Lux is stunning in real life! I encourage you to stretch all of your Paper Glaze products by using them as painting mediums! Happy crafting and have a great day! Rachelle ♥

Coloring with Paper Glitz

Hello crafty friends! Today i'm sharing one of the cards that I made for the 7 in 7 event. On this slimline card I colored through a stencil using Paper Glitz and a dauber. The products that I used for this slimline card are Slim Line Oversized Joy to the World Die, Slim Line Cut Flower Stencil, Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon,  Paper Glitz Lime Christmas Green, Paper Glitz True Christmas Red and Slim Line Die Cutting System.    I started by adding Pixie spray to the back of the Slim Line Cut Flower stencil, then I placed it on top of a heavy cardstock. I applied small quantities of Paper Glitz with dauber, coloring the center of the flower, the petals and the space around.  The colors I used were Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon, Paper Glitz Lime Christmas Green, Paper Glitz True Christmas Red. Next, I let the panel dry for about 20 minutes. Paper Glitz is a medium that dries very fast which is very helpful. Once my panel was dry, I die cut it using a layering base die from the Slim Line Die Cutting System. I also added on top of this background a piece of velum. Then, I adhered a black folded card base. On a piece of cardstock I applied  Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon using a spatula and let it dry. Once it was dry, I die cut the  Slim Line Oversized Joy to the World Die out of it. Additionally, I die cut another set of these dies out of white cardstock to be used as a shadow behind the die cuts with Paper Glitz Autumn Persimmon. Finally, I added the Joy to the World die cuts on top of the velum using tape runner and this Slimline Christmas card was ready. Below you will find a list of supplies that I used to created this card. I hope you like this card and give a try this very fun technique. Enjoy your week and happy crafting! Your friend,  Karen

Winter Floral with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Sep 01 2021
Happy Wednesday! It's Rachelle with you today and can you believe it's September 1st already??? I had to look at the calendar twice just to be sure it was correct and that means it's time to get rolling on Christmas and holiday cards right now! The recent Picket Fence Studios' releases have been full of wonderful new products to get our Christmas crafting off on the right foot! I send out quite a few cards to folks who don't celebrate Christmas and the card today is the perfect way to share a bit of general winter and/or holiday cheer! I used the NEW "A Christmas Flower" Stamp Set to create this winter floral card design. I began with an A2 panel of 110# Neenah Solar White card stock and using my MISTI, I aligned the poinsettia image in the top left corner of the panel bleeding off the edge. I stamped this image using Picket Fence Studios "Black Hybrid Ink"  and then turned the panel 180 degrees and stamped it again so that the image appeared in opposite corners.  I watercolored the poinsettias, spattered the panels with diluted paints and then added a graduated blue wash around the flowers for a bit of depth. I went back into the images with a tiny paint brush (a 000) and using my gold paint, added touches of fine detail throughout; this panel was trimmed to 3.75" x 5". I heat embossed the sentiment from the "A Happy Winter To You" Stamp Set with fine gold powder onto heavy-weight vellum, trimmed it to size and wrapped it around the floral panel, securing it behind. This was attached to an A2 top-folding black card base and I added a few matte gold sequins from the NEW "Pumpkin Cookies" Sequin Mix Plus to finish up the card! I just love the sprinkling of gold on this design and those gorgeous poinsettias are the star of the show! There are so many different ways to color this beautiful image and be sure to check out Picket Fence Studios' Instagram Page where you'll find great design inspiration! Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

CAS Paper Glitz Nativity Scene with Rachelle

Hello! It’s Rachelle here and I’ve got a CAS Christmas Card to share with you today featuring Paper Glitz blending and the NEW Nativity Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert! This card would be so easy to mass produce and the two-toned Paper Glitz background is perfect against this peaceful die cut nativity scene. I began by spreading quarter-sized dollops of “Snow Drifts” and “Fall Golds” Paper Glitz onto a piece of 100# white card stock. I ran my offset palette knife across it several times to soften the edge where the two colors met. There was a bit of color blending in that area and that’s the effect I was going for in this scene. Here’s a shot of the Paper Glitz panel once it was dry – that shine is amazing! I cut a 4” x 5.25” panel of white card stock and centered the Nativity Insert Die into the top portion using my clear ruler to finalize the position. Once the interior pieces were removed from the die cut, I heat embossed the large sentiment from the “Joyeux Noel” Stamp Set underneath the scene with gold powder. I love all the different fonts in this large sentiment set – there’s something for every single winter occasion! I backed the Nativity scene with a small piece of the Paper Glitz panel, allowing the gold area to highlight the figures inside of the stable and then blend up to the turquoise night sky. This panel was backed with a piece of craft foam for dimension and attached to the center of a top-folding A2 card base. Using one of the smaller dies that comes with the Nativity Insert Die Set, I cut a Christmas star from the “Fall Golds” Paper Glitz area and attached it to the card front above the scene to finish up the card.   Thanks so much for joining me today and head over the Picket Fence Studios' Shop to check out all of the other amazing products from the latest release! Happy crafting and have a wonderful day! Rachelle

Hello! It's Michelle here today, and I'm sharing a card I made using a die, a stencil, a sequin mix and Paper Glitz. I used Distress Oxide inks to create the sunset in the background, and then used part of the Handcut Snowflake 6x6 Stencil and some Paper Glitz Sparkle to create the pattern in the sky. I used the Santa's Snowy Hills die to create the three tiers of snowy hills, and ink blended with some blue ink to create dimension between them. I finished with a stamped sentiment, and some snowflake shaped sequins from the Icicles sequin mix. Have you seen our 7 in 7 event on Facebook? We have 7 free classes over 7 days! Merry And Bright - A CAS Christmas Card For Mass Production

by Lisa Tilson on Jul 07 2021
Hello everyone, Lisa here today with a clean and simple Christmas card for you. We all know that it can be a struggle to make all those Christmas cards so here's one that is really easy to duplicate so you can avoid that mad rush in November! I started off by die cutting Snowflake Lydia and one of the snowflakes from Winter Snowflakes (such a pretty set!). I then cut some very very narrow red, green and white strips of cardstock. These strips of cardstock were adhered onto a side folding A2 base card. The section of strips was just over an inch wide (there were 9 tiny coloured strips). They would also look good horizontally I think. I then cut two pieces of white cardstock and popped them up with foam tape over the base card, so that the coloured strips are inset behind those two white panels. Super easy isn't it? I adhered Lydia Snowflake over the two panels and one of the smaller Winter Snowflakes on top of Lydia. I finished with a gem stone from Fire Gem Mix for a little bit of bling. The sentiment is from Inside Quotes: Christmas and this was stamped to the side using Black Hybrid Ink. So you can see how this would be really quick to mass produce. I hope that this gives you some inspiration for starting you cards early - it is Christmas in July after all!

Slimlines and Gel Press with Ceal

by Ceal Pritchett on Dec 02 2020
Hey Y'all! It's Ceal and today I am sharing some slimline cards that uses the Slim Line Die Cutting System along with the Gel Press. Can you believe that it is December already? I have to get moving on my Christmas cards so I made 4 using this technique that I learned from Lydia.  To create these cards, I cut out some of the snowflakes from the Winter Snowflakes die set, the Lydia snowflake die and the LaWanda snowflake dies out of copy paper. I places some acrylic paint on the Gel Press and brayered over it. Next I placed the snowflakes down on top of the paint and placed the sheet of copy paper over it and gently rubbed over the entire Gel Press. I lifted the copy paper for the print and then removed the snowflakes so I could reuse them.  The paint colors I used on the blue were Peacock, Sky and Turquoise all by Dina Wakley.  The paint colors I used on the green card were Peacock and Lemon and when I ran the brayer over them it became green. The last two cards I used the holy trinity as lydia refers to it, Magenta, Lemon and Turquoise.  On every card I used the large and smaller rectangle die from the Slim Line Die Cutting System. I love how using your dies as stencils and masks as I have on my cards, stretches your dies.    I hope you have enjoyed this post and if you don't have a Gel Press, that you would invest in one. they are so fun!    Below you will find links to the products used.  Hello, hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm sharing two fun and easy cards using the new Slim Line Die Cutting System as well as some of the new products from the November Release!  All products used are linked below.  Be sure to check out the Picket Fence Shop to see all the new goodies!   For my first, card, I started with some teal card stock and die cut it using the largest rectangle from the Slim Line Die Cutting System.  Then I use the smaller rectangle from a lighter blue card stock.  I used the stitched circle die in the set to create random circles on my lighter blue panel.  Then I adhered it to the teal piece.   I used some of the new snowflake dies to cut snowflakes in various sizes from white card stock, holographic card stock, and glassine paper.  Then I layered them on top of my card and adhered with Glossy Accents.  I added some scattered sequins throughout the card and finished it off with a sentiment heat embossed in white on black card stock.  Such a quick and easy card that really packs a punch!   For my next card, I used the new Slim Line Die cutting System and paired it with the new Pet all the Dogs Stamp Set and Coordinating Dies.  To begin, I chose a bright blue piece of card stock and die cut it using the largest rectangle in the set.  Then, I die cut a piece of white card stock using the smaller rectangle die.  I used the picket fence die to cut three openings in my white panel.  Then I used the grass die to cut  three grass pieces from green card stock.  I layered each one behind the picket fence openings and adhered them together.  Then I colored up my dogs, cut them out using the coordinating dies, and tucked one of them in between my grass and fence.  Then I adhered it all together and popped my dogs on top using foam tape.  I stamped my sentiment across the top and added some die cut clouds from the A Spooky Day Stamp and Coordinating Die set.   Again, another quick and easy card that's sure to brighten anyone's day!   Products Used: Snowflake LaWanda Die Snowflake Alice Die Pet all the Dogs Stamp Pet all the Dogs Coordinating Die A Spooky Day Stamp A Spooky Day Coordinating Die Inside Quotes: Christmas Stamp Moonshine Sequin Mix Winter Snowflakes Die Black Hybrid Ink Slim Line Die Cutting System Hope you have a great week!  Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Hello crafty friends! Today I’m over Picket Fence Studios blog sharing these two Christmas cards. I’m featuring Baker’s Twine and HO HO HO Stamp set. Also Gin & Tonic and Moonshine Sequin Mixes. Let’s begin! For the first card I started by applying distress oxide inks with the Life Changing Blender Brushes to a panel. I used Aged Mahogany, Festive Berries and Abandoned Coral. Once my panel was dry, I trimmed down the edges and adhered a white folded note card at the back. Then, I stamped this large sentiment from Ho Ho Ho Stamp and I heat embossed it with WOW! Red Glitz Embossing Glitter. I repeated this step three times to get a bit more of dimension on my sentiment. Finally, I stamped the images from the Baker’s Twine Stamp and heat embossed them with WOW! Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder. With a red gel pen I filled in the empty spaces of the twine and lastly, I added a few sequins from Gin & Tonic Sequin Mix. For the second card I also applied distress oxide inks with the Life Changing Blender Brushes to another panel. I used Black Soot, Lucky Clover and Cracked Pistachio. When my panel was dry, I trimmed down the edges and adhered a white folded note card at the back using glue. Next, I stamped the sentiment from Ho Ho Ho Stamp and I heat embossed it with WOW! Red Glitz Embossing Glitter. I repeated this step three times to get a bit more of dimension on my sentiment. Last, I stamped the images from the Baker’s Twine Stamp and heat embossed them with WOW! Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder. I filled in the empty spaces of the twine with a red gel pen and finally, I added a few sequins from Gin & Tonic Sequin Mix and this card was finished. Thank you so much crafty friends for stopping by and I hope you like these cards and get some inspiration. Please have a wonderful rest of the week. Blessings, Karen

Quick Christmas Cards with Paper Glaze and Slim Line Stencil

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Sep 29 2020
Hi guys!  Erica back on the PFS blog today, with a Christmas card. It’s quite quick, and simple so this is another design that will work when you need to make a bunch quickly!  I started out by spraying my Dashes Slim Line Stencil with Pixie Spray, and once that was cured, I adhered it to a piece of card stock. First up was the gorgeous Jade Vine Paper Glaze, and I spread a generous layer of it on about 75% of the stencil. Then I added some Snowdrop White to fill in the gaps and also to mix in with the Jade Vine to create a softer look. Finally, I added some Golden Rose for extra shimmer!  I love how it turned out, and that extra white and gold really does add a little something special!  Currently I’m on a total snowman craze, so I stamped up the snowman from On A Christmas Walk with Black Hybrid ink, and set that with my heat tool. Then I coloured him with some Copics and when I was happy with the colouring, I used the coordinating diecut to cut him out.  The Merry Christmas in the Fancy Christmas Sentiments was heat embossed in gold on white card stock, trimmed down to a slim banner and adhered to the top of the card. The snowman followed and with that, the card was done!  I really hope you like the card and found some inspiration here with me today. There will be a YouTube video coming to the Picket Fence Studios channel soon, so hang in there if you want to actually see the Paper Glaze and stencil in action!  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica

Never Too Early for Good Tidings

by Angela Bode on Sep 11 2020
I am always late when it comes to mailing things out so I try to help myself by creating Christmas cards all year.  Truthfully, even if I never sent out a Christmas card I would create them all year long.  I love the colors of Christmas, the happy sentiments and images.  I just love Christmas!   For my first card I, used Life Changing Blender Brushes and added Distress Ink through the Candlelight Stencil. Next, I spritzed with water leaving the stencil in place.  Then I sprinkled watercolor powder and spritzed with a bit more water.  I love how the Distress Ink adds another dimension of color to the watercolor powders!  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from Inside  Quotes: Christmas directly on the card front.  Lastly I added Margarita Sequins Mix!  For the next Card, I wanted to feature the large Ho Ho Ho Sentiment but also use a similar background technique as the candlelight card.  So once again I used Life Changing Blender Brushes and randomly added red and green Distress ink on a card front.  Then, I sprinkled on watercolor powders in same color families as the Distress Ink. Lastly, I added Holiday Hopper Sequins Mix.  I am all about the fabulous Picket Fence Studios Sequins!   Whether you are looking for holiday themes or any occasion themes you will find what you are looking for at  Picket Fence Studios Shop! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Angie

Christmas Shaker Card with Karen Reategui

by Karen Reategui on Jul 16 2020
Hello my crafty friends! Today I’m sharing this Christmas shaker card over Picket Fence Studios Blog. For this card, I have used new stamps from the July Release HO HO HO and Reindeer Stamps along with Gin & Tonic Sequin Mix. Let’s begin! I die cut this slim panel and applied inks to it using the Life Changing Blender Brushes. Next, with the help of my MISTI I stamped the Reindeer Stamp all across the slim panel using WOW! Embossing Pad and heat embossed it with WOW! Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder. Then, I adhered a piece of cellophane wrap from a sheet of chipboard stickers. I cut the cellophane slightly bigger than my slim panel. Then, I folded every side of the cellophane and secured only three sides at the back of my panel using double sided tape. I added the Gin & Tonic sequins through the side that was still opened and then I closed it with more double sided tape. On a piece of acetate I stamped the HO HO HO Stamp Set using WOW! Embossing Pad and the heat embossed it with WOW! Metallic Silver Embossing Powder. I think this silver matched great the color of the sequins. I also, adhered this piece of acetate to the shaker. Finally, I added a white scalloped slim panel at the back and a red folded note card and my Christmas shaker card was ready! I hope you enjoyed this card and give it a try. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day! Karen
