Christmas card by Laura

by Laura Nistal on Sep 28 2022
Hello everyone!! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this Christmas card that I hope will inspire you!  To start I used the "Animal Crackers Christmas Wishes" Stamps set that I stamped with "Black Hybrid ink pad" which is perfect for this type of stamps! Then I painted all the images with alcohol markers and then with a white marker I glossed it to make it stand out.  Then i cut out the images using the "Animal Crackers Christmas Wishes" coordinating dies but you can carefully cut them out with scissors if you prefer. Next I prepared the background: for this I used a white cardboard that I painted with distress oxide inks and a green cardboard with which I used the "A2 Evergreen on a Hill Cover Plate Die" to which I then added the snow with the "Paper Glaze Luxe - Arctic Fox". For the sentiment I used the word "Greeting" that comes with the "A2 Evergreen on a Hill Cover Plate Die" that I cut out of blue metallic cardstock. Finally I prepared the composition, glued all the pieces and this is how the result was! I hope you like it and that it inspires you, I remember that you can find all these products and many others in the Picket Fence Studios store. A huge kiss and until next time! Laura

More leaves Card by Laura

by Laura Nistal on Jul 27 2022
Hello everyone!! I'm Laura and I'm very excited to be here again on the Picket Fence Studios blog showing this fall card that I hope will inspire you!  To start I used the "More Maple Leaves", "More Oak Leaves" and "More Ash Leaves" dies that i cut on gold and black cardboard. Next I prepared the background: for this I cut the outside of the leaf dies and used them as a stencil. Then I randomly placed them in the background and painted them with Distress Oxide inks in earth tones. Then I was pasting the leaves on top, but with a little offset to give it a different touch. For the sentiment i cut the "Good day to you word" die on gold cardboard and placed it in the center of the card. And this is how the result was! I hope you like it and that it inspires you, I remember that you can find all these products and many others in the Picket Fence Studios store.  A huge kiss and until next time! Laura

I Dream In Salt Water

by Lisa Tilson on Jan 11 2022
Hello there! Today I have a card for you featuring Pisces Girl, which was released last month. She is the latest in the Horoscope Girls range and I had to ink her up as I have a birthday in February and am therefore a Pisces girl! All the Horoscope girls are fun to colour. They have amazing hair and in Pisces Girl you can see she has lots of little fish in her hair - so cute! I began by stamping her onto white cardstock using Black Hybrid Ink. I coloured her with Copics and cut her out with the coordinating die. The Copic numbers are listed below if you are interested. For my background I took a panel of white cardstock and the Taylored Expressions Rectangle Masking Stencil. I secured the stencil to my panel from behind using Frog Tape. In the A2 Tall Grass And Waves With Tile & Wood Floors stamp set, there is a wave stamp which I thought would fit well on my card today. So I took that and stamped it onto my panel, from top to bottom, using Versamark Ink. I removed the stencil, applied HA White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I reattached the stencil once more and then using Life Changing Blender Brushes I blended Distress Oxides from top down. I used Chipped Sapphire, Prize Ribbon, Mermaid Lagoon and Salvaged Patina. I deliberately didn't blend the ink all the way to the bottom as I wanted the area under the sentiment to be clear but you can still see the waves which I like. The embossed waves resist the ink and this is always a fun technique. Once I finished the blending, I removed the stencil and then cleaned off any excess ink from the waves using a soft towel. The wave panel was adhered flat onto a base card and Pisces Girl was popped up with foam tape. I then took a sentiment from Merpeople Of The Sea and stamped it onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white detail embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out to fit the width of my panel. This was also added with foam tape. Even though there is quite a lot going on on this card, I do think that it still has a CAS feel to it and I loved how it came together. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have a good day. Happy crafting! Copics used: Skin (E70, E53, E51, E50, R20), Lips (R14, R22, R21), Hair (YR23, Y21, Y23, Y32, E50) Fish (BG32, BG11, B01, B00)

Iconic Beauty Kiara - Masked Ink Blending with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Nov 24 2021
Hello everyone! It's Rachelle with you today and I've got some ink blending & masking tips for you! I created several masks, which I used to color in this NEW "Iconic Beauty Kiara" image and it's all done with the small, fine "Life Changing Blender Brushes" and Distress Oxide Inks! I first inked up the "Kiara" image on a piece of scrap paper using my MISTI to create my main template. I then drew in the basic shape of her face and some of the main shadow plains/contours to get an idea how I was going to shape her face. After I was happy with the sketch, I copied this onto a piece of tracing paper, redrew the lines on the backside and then transferred the images onto different pieces of paper. I needed these images: 1) a full mask for the entire figure 2) the face 3) the shirt. Here's a picture of what these masks looked like: I hand cut omits for the face & shirt using my craft knife and fussy cut the full-image mask using small scissors. I stamped the Kiara image onto an A2 panel and placed the full-image mask on top. I used Salty Ocean as an overall background color and then ink blended Prize Ribbon and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Inks through the "Flowers" Stencil to create my background pattern. The shirt was blended using one of the small round brushes with "Kitsch Flamingo" DOI and then I colored the face with several additional Distress Oxide Inks. I did paint a very fine line of eye shadow ("Salty Ocean") along her lid line but that was the only brushwork on this piece. To deepen the image post ink blending, I placed her back into my MISTI and re-stamped to sharpen the edges. That's a real advantage when using a MISTI! I trimmed the image down to 4" x 5.25" and adhered it to a top-folding A2 card front. The heat-embossed sentiment strip was glued to the top panel and I added a couple of gems from the NEW "Celebration Gem Mix" to finish up the card. She is such a beautiful image and I love how all of the Design Team Members found different ways/techniques to color her! Be sure to head over the Picket Fence Studios Shop to check out all of the AMAZING Black Friday Deals and Door Busters taking place right now! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Rachelle

One Set, Two Ways!

by Larisa Hohman on Oct 06 2021
Hello!  Larisa here and today, I'm sharing two very different cards using the same stamp set: Winter Has Come To Town.   I love to stretch my supplies and come up with creative ways to use them!  Today, I'm showing you how to use one set two ways!  For my first card, I stamped out the village scene using black ink.  Then I colored it up using Copics.  For the sky, I added some distress inks and then popped up my sentiment with foam tape.  A pretty simple card that packs a colorful punch!   For my second card, I stamped the village scene again, but this time, I used light grey ink.  Then I stamped out my sentiment using red ink and used a black pen to add some shadows.  I paired the NEW Winter Scene Building People to my scene and colored them up with Copics.  A bit of foam tape, helps them stand out in the scene.  Then I layered the whole thing on some dark green card stock.   I just love that both of the cards use the same stamp set, but look so different!  Thanks so much for stopping by!     Products Used: Winter Has Come To Town Winter Scene Building People Winter Scene Building People Coordinating Die Black Hybrid Ink

Scene Cards with Larisa

by Larisa Hohman on Aug 25 2021
Hello, Larisa here and today I'm sharing a couple of scene cards featuring the New Release!   For my first card, I paired the NEW Lots of Christmas Cheer Stamp Set with the NEW Slim Line Our Town Cover Plate Die.  To begin, I started with the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System and used it to cut a piece of white card stock and a red scalloped piece to mat behind it.  Using my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I added some blue distress ink to the background.  Then I die cut a piece of black card stock with the Our Town Cover Plate Die.  I adhered that to the center of my background piece.  Then I tore a piece of white card stock and added that just under the town to mimic the look of snow.  I stamped out the grouped animal image, colored it using Copic Markers and cut it out using the coordinating die.  Using foam tape, I added it to the right side of the card.  On the left side, I stamped my sentiment in black ink.  For the final touch, I added several tiny snowflakes from the NEW Santa Is Here Slim Line Die Cutting System Insert.   My next card is a fun little back-to-school scene that features two of the little cuties from the NEW Your Next Book Dear Stamp Set.  To create this card, I stamped out the NEW Medley of Fall Collage Stamp in red ink on orange paper.  Then I trimmed that into a square.  Across the bottom, I added a skinny piece of grey card stock.  On top of that some die cut grass.  Then I stamped out my images, colored them up with Copics, and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I used foam tape to add them to my scene and stamped my sentiment just below.   Thank you so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting! Then I added my sentiment and that's it.  Such a quick and easy way to create a shaker, but still makes a big impact!   This next card features the new Spider Web Cover Plate Die.  This die is so intricate and creates a total wow factor on your projects.  To create my card, I started with a piece of black card stock.  I die cut the spider web from white glitter paper and adhered it the black.  Then I stamped out and colored up Lexi Girl.  I used the coordinating die to cut her out and then I layered her on top of my web.  Across the bottom of the card I added some strips of patterned paper and layered my sentiment on top.  To finish the card off, I added a fun sentiment from the Not Scared You Should Be Clear Stamp Set.  I just love how this turned out!   My final card features the cutest little monsters.  These not-so-scary guys are part of the new You Creep Me Out Clear Stamp Set.  To create my card, I used the Scallop Frames Slim Line Die Cutting System.  After cutting the layered out of patterned paper and card stock.  I layered it all together, creating three shaker windows down the center of the card.  I used the NEW Trick Or Treaters Sequin Mix Plus.  It is a Must Have!  Then I stamped out my images, colored them up with Copics, and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  Using foam tape, I popped them onto my card and added a few of the bat die cut from the Slim Line Die Cutting System Witch Insert.  Finally, I added my sentiment across the middle and there you have it.   You Creep Me Out Clear Stamp Set Slim Line Funky Christmas Envelopes You Creep Me Out Coordinating Dies Slim Line Die Cutting System Witch Insert Not Scared You Should Be Spider Web Cover Plate Die Midnight Tales Sequins Mix Plus Trick Or Treaters Sequins Mix Plus Scallop Framed Slim Line Die Cutting System Lexi Girl Lexi Girl Coordinating Die   Gem Pick Up Tool Black Hybrid Ink Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!

Hello!  Today, I'm sharing a fun zodiac card!  This is Libra Girl.  As a libra myself, I knew I can to create a card with her.  To begin, I started with a piece of white card stock and trimmed it to fit my A2 sized card.  Then I used the middle tone of the NEW Paper Glaze Ombre Sky Blues to create a beautiful stenciled design across the paper.  I let that dry for an hour or so and worked on my stamped image.  I colored her up with Copics, and die cut the image using a large circle die in my stash.  Then I placed it on top of my stenciled design and added a stamped sentiment across the bottom.  I think this would make such a fun birthday card for that special Libra in you life!   Copic Colors: Skin: E000, E00, E11, E04, R20 Hair: Y21, Y26, E87 Blue: B00, B02 Products Used: Fancy Congratulations Sentiments Fancy Congratulations Sentiments Coordinating Dies Libra Girl Paper Glaze Ombre- Sky Blues Mixed Media Spatulas Black Hybrid Ink Center Flower Stencil  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Then You Came Into My Life

by Lisa Tilson on May 26 2021
Hello there! Lisa here today to share a card with you using the new Dream With Me Cover Plate die. As soon as I saw this die, I knew I would want to use it as a silhouette. But don't let that limit you, you can die cut and watercolour it or ink blend over it, or colour it with markers, like you can with many dies. But I wanted a dreamy night time sky, behind the silhouette. To start, I took some Arches Cold Pressed cardstock and watercoloured the background using Gansai Tambi paints - numbers 63, 62, 60 and 20.  Number 20 is actually black and that ended up getting hidden just behind the die in the end. As always with watercolour I work in layers, letting each layer dry in between. I worked my colours down the card panel to just over half way. I wanted to keep the bottom area white and free to highlight the girl on the swing. Once dry, I adhered this to a top folding notecard. I took some black cardstock and ran it through the die cutting machine with the cover plate die and then I adhered gold cardstock behind, so that the stars and moon would stand out against the black. This was then glued down over the top of the watercolored panel. Before gluing it down, I went around the edges with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker so that you couldn't see any gold peeking out anywhere. To finish I popped the card in the MISTI and stamped a sentiment from Que Sera Sera using Black Hybrid Ink. I thought that the sentiment was just perfect for the mood of the card and the vibe of someone travelling through the sky and arriving into someone's world. If I told you how long it takes me to find sentiments to go on my cards, you probably wouldn't believe it! I'm very fussy about having the right font, composition and meaning on a card. Rooting around all my sets is all part of the fun of cardmaking! Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you again soon. Happy crafting!

Hello Everyone! It's Ceal. Today I am sharing a zen card with you using two of the  new slimline inserts. To create this card I started with a white slimline card base and a panel of white heavystock cut down with the SLDCS Nested Rectangles.  I cut out the Tree Insert in the center of the panel and then cut out the Mushroom Insert on both sides.  I watercolored all three using Daniel Smith watercolors and added the panel to the base.  To finish the card I added a sentiment from the Early Tulips set.

Whatever You Decide To Do In Life, Make Sure It Makes You Happy

by Lisa Tilson on Apr 14 2021

Hello everyone, it's Lisa here today on our favourite day of the month - Release Day! And I have two things to share with you - a card using lots of gorgeousness from the new release, plus I have a release reveal video up on my channel which shares all the new items for this month with you, along with my sample cards. If you want to catch the video, then scroll to the end of this post. But first, for my card today, I wanted to use the new Slim Line Scallop Framed Dies set, along with the new Slim Line Details Of A Wing Stencil. For this card, I also used the Monarch Butterfly Insert. So, here is my card! I began by taking an 8.5" x 3.5" panel of white cardstock and laying the Slim Line Details Of A Wing Stencil on top. I secured the card panel from the back using low tack tape. I then took some Distress Inks and blended rainbow colours through it using Life Changing Blender Brushes. Once I'd removed the stencil, I took the smaller scalloped rectangle die from the new SLDS Scallop Framed Dies system and ran the panel through my die cutting machine. Next I took one of the circular frames from the Scallop Framed Die set and cut a window into my ink blended panel. And I kept the resulting thin circular frame as I needed that later on. The two butterflies were cut from the Monarch Butterfly Slim Line Die Cutting Insert. This insert die will actually cut a window/insert into a panel and leave the butterfly intact, but I wanted to separate it out, so I just trimmed it out twice. I could then stack them on top of each other for some dimension.   I adhered the ink blended panel to an 8.5" x 3.5" base card and then I glued the tiny circular frame around the window - the one that I had saved from earlier. It finishes off the circular window nicely! The two stacked butterflies were then added in and I decorated them with a few gems from the new Reflections Gem Mix. To finish the card, I took a sentiment from Dance Mode On and stamped it onto white cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied gold embossing powder, heat set it and then popped it up with foam tape. All the items I have used are listed below. And for those of you that would like to see the release in full, here is the video. I am sure you are going to love all the new stamp sets, dies and stencils!
