Hippity Hoppity Slimline

by Michelle Bala on Feb 28 2022
Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a slimline Easter card using some beautiful stamps and dies from Picket Fence Studios newest release. I stamped Vintage Easter Hodgepodge -part of the Seamless Stamps collection- 3 times using the Misti, which takes the guess work out of aligning stamps for repetition. I chose to do a no line coloring technique and used a beige ink on kraft cardstock. I colored the eggs with Prisma Colored Pencils in pastel shades than added some paint splatter with white paint. Allow to dry. Next, I used Hoppin' Down the Bunny Trail and coordinating Die and followed the same no line coloring technique. I also used Hippity Hoppity to All Coordinating Die for the sentiment. I die cut the word with glitter cardstock and the shodow with white cardstock. I used the large slimline rectangle from Slim Line Die Cutting System and die cut the kraft cardstock panel. I die cut the scalloped panel using Slim Line Die Cutting System- Scallop Frames. I layered the panels, sentiment, and bunny ears onto the card base with Extra Wide Foam Adhesive Tape in white.I added some silver thread behind the sentiment and scattered some Sequin Mix- City of Lights.  That's all for me! Hope you enjoyed this post! Have a great week! Michelle

"Into The Woods" Slim Line Shaker Card with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Jan 24 2022
Hello! It's Rachelle here and I'm so excited to share this slim line shaker card I created by combining lots of different Picket Fence Studios' products!  This design came together pretty quickly with the help of a couple key products. First - the "Slim Line Full Front Shaker Die" Set and secondly, the NEW "Slim Line Woods Cover Plate Die" Set!  I started by die cutting the woods die scene from heavy-weight white card stock and selectively trimming a few trees/branches from the image. I chose to edit this because I wanted a bit more space for the shaker garnish to be seen and to highlight the deer die cut. Once trimmed, I watercolored just the leaves in a bright green and the die cut was glued onto a piece of charcoal gray card stock. This is almost a reverse silhouette design and all of the components really pop off of that charcoal background!   I created a white frame by using the slim line rectangular insert from the "Slim Line Full Front Shaker Die" and a smaller rectangle from the "Slim Line Nested Rectangles Dies". This frame was cut twice and glued/stacked together and adhered on top of the woods panel. I die cut a piece of thin packaging acetate with the "Slim Line Full Front Shaker Die", adhered double-sided tape along three sides of the back of the woods panel and wrapped the acetate around to adhere it into place. I chose to use the NEW "Spring Green Shaker Garnish" as my fill (to match my green leaves) and carefully poured about a tablespoon into my shaker panel. Then all I had to do was to close up the remaining shaker flap on the backside with the double-sided tape and the panel was adhered to the front of a slim line card base.   I die cut the sentiment from brushed silver card stock using the "Mini Slim Line Double Stitched Rectangles Die Cutting System" and the running buck ("More Deer Family Dies") from gray card stock. Both of these die cuts were carefully adhered to the shaker acetate with liquid adhesive to finish up the design! I just love how that Spring Green Shaker Garnish easily moves inside the card front and works both as leaves and grass in this scene! I highly encourage you to try some of the NEW Shaker Garnish colors - they are so light weight and really add a unique shaker element especially when combined with Picket Fence Studios' Sequins/Sequins Mix Plus options! Thanks so much for joining me today! Happy Crafting - Rachelle : )

Aries girl with Michelle

by Michelle Lupton on Jan 19 2022
This month's release from Picket Fence Studios includes a new addition to the Zodiac Girls series, Aries Girl. I decided to use red and black as my colour palette because the colour associated with the zodiac sign Aries is red. Aries is also ruled by the planet Mars, and Mars is the god of war, and is also associated with red. However, I did not use any red alcohol ink in the background. I used black alcohol ink, smoulder alcohol pearl (which is a bronze/brown colour) and Stirling alcohol alloy ink (the silver). The red colour at the top and bottom edge came from the black ink separatinng into its component colours. I coloured Aries Girl with Copic markers.   Thanks for visiting :)

Sending Sympathy with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Jan 05 2022
Hello there - it's Rachelle with you today and unfortunately, I needed several sympathy cards during this past Christmas holiday. I made multiples of the same design and I'd like to share this layout. This is a mini-slimline design that started with an ink-blended background using the Slim Line Lots of Blossoms Stencil and a selection of blue Distress Oxide Inks. This panel was die cut using the larger rectangle from the Mini Slim Line Double Stitched Rectangles Die Cutting System. The Slim Line Oversized With Sympathy Word Die was cut from navy card stock, glued onto the stencil panel and the overhang was trimmed from the back side.  This panel was attached to a piece of pearlized aqua card stock and then adhered to a slim line card base. The card was finished up with a scattering of the beautiful pearly gray gems from the Moon Shadow Gem Mix. Thanks so much for joining me today! Hugs - Rachelle

Hello shaker card with Michelle

by Michelle Lupton on Dec 31 2021
While it is the last day of the year (and it's a year than many of us might want to forget), I prefer to look forward and say a bright, rainbow hello to the new year. I used the Hello die insert along with the slimline double stitched rectangle die to create a shaker card. I decorated the shaker with the Lots of Blossoms stencil, Distress oxide inks and lots of the new Crystalline Diamonds. Thanks for visiting :)

FaLaLaLaaaa!

by Lisa Tilson on Dec 17 2021
Hello there, Lisa here today for 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration. Christmas isn't too far away now, but maybe you are still creating the odd card here and there for close family and friends. Today I am sharing a card using two of the cutest woodland bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey and I thought I would pair them with an older background stamp. It's called On An Autumn Countyside and I love it. I think it can be used just as easily for Christmas cards as well as Autumn cards especially when you white heat emboss as it looks perfectly frosty. We all like to stretch our stamps don't we?! I started by stamping the tree onto some white cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set and then set to work with my Distress Oxide Inks. Using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade from top to bottom. I trimmed the panel down and matted it onto some navy cardstock which i then added onto a top folding white 110lb notecard. Not a very traditional colour scheme but I love Seedless Preserves and wanted to use it today, and we can do whatever we want in cardmaking can't we! The two bears from Forest Critters Stopping By To Say Hey were stamped using Black Hybrid Ink and coloured with Copics (numbers listed a little later). They were then cut out with the coordinating dies and popped onto the panel using foam tape. To finish the card I stamped a greeting from Lots Of Christmas Cheer onto navy cardstock using Versamark Ink. Again, I applied white embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out into a little banner shape. I added some white gel pen stitching onto it and then added it to the panel with foam tape. And that finished the card for today! Copics used: E59, E57, E55, E53, E51, E50. Thank you for joining me here today on the blog and I wish you a wonderful day!

Merry Christmas!

by Lisa Tilson on Dec 01 2021
Hello there, Lisa here today for the 25 Days Of Christmas Inspiration. I hope you are all well and getting into the Christmas spirit! We have lots of cards to share with you over the coming weeks, so if you are still looking for some ideas to create last minute cards, keep checking back to see what we have to help you on your way! So this is the card that I created for today. I took some dark navy cardstock and the Slim Line Double Tree Stencil and using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended some Black Soot Distress Ink to form the trees. Next I put a little Paper Glitz Sparkle onto my mat, added some water to dilute it and then spattered it over the panel. This adds the most gorgeous semi opaque snowfall! You might also be inclined to think that it is a starry sky? Either way, it works and I love to add the sparkle onto my projects. The santa and reindeer are from the Slim Line Our Town Cover Plate Die set and they were cut four times from white cardstock. I adhered them all together in a little stack for some dimension. I also die cut the Merry Christmas Word Topper Die once from white cardstock and a second time from a light green cardstock. To assemble the card, I trimmed the background panel slightly and matted it onto a top folding horizontal A2 base card using wet adhesive. I then added the two Merry Christmas strips along the bottom, trimming off the excess from the sides. The santa and reindeer were added to complete the card. I hope that you like the card and I wish you all a wonderful day. See you next time!

Holly Jolly Mercury Glass Technique with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Nov 27 2021

Hello and welcome to Picket Fence Studios' "25 Days of Christmas"! It's Rachelle here today with some crafting inspiration and I'd like to share a new technique with you that mimics the look of mercury glass! I was experimenting with the Paper Glaze Enhancer in combination with some of the Paper Glitz colors and while you should NOT mix Glitz & Enhancer together into a single blended product, I did try using them separately on top of each other and came up with something that really resembles one of my favorite finishes - antique mercury glass. The Paper Glaze Enhancer is a soft, matte lightweight paste (resembling spackling compound in texture) and dries to a semi-transparent dull finish when used on its own. I though that I might be able to accent some areas by applying "Sparkle" Paper Glitz on top of the stenciled areas and when it was all dry, some of the areas of the Paper Glitz highlighted the Enhancer and some of it seemed to melt into the kraft background with a mirror effect! The photo can't quite capture it but believe me this looks so cool in real life! I just applied a thin coat of each product using the Slim Line "Changes" Stencil and set it aside to dry. It was trimmed down to 3.75" x 5" and adhered to a top-folding A2 card base. The leaf and berry cluster from the "Holly Jolly Christmas" Stamp Set was stamped/heat embossed with clear powder, watercolored and die cut. The wonderful sentiment from the "Winter Has Come To Town" Stamp Set was heat embossed and die cut.  I looped some silver thread into a bunch, taped it together and adhered it to the stenciled panel. The holly image was popped up with foam tape and the sentiment strip was glued into place. I added pink and matte gold sequins (from The Pink Lady Sequins Mix) to finish up the card. I hope you'll give this look a try and I'd love to see you share what you come up with over on the Picket Fence Studios' Community Facebook Page!  Thanks so much for stopping by today and take care - Rachelle

Iconic Beauty Kiara - Masked Ink Blending with Rachelle

by Rachelle Oltean on Nov 24 2021
Hello everyone! It's Rachelle with you today and I've got some ink blending & masking tips for you! I created several masks, which I used to color in this NEW "Iconic Beauty Kiara" image and it's all done with the small, fine "Life Changing Blender Brushes" and Distress Oxide Inks! I first inked up the "Kiara" image on a piece of scrap paper using my MISTI to create my main template. I then drew in the basic shape of her face and some of the main shadow plains/contours to get an idea how I was going to shape her face. After I was happy with the sketch, I copied this onto a piece of tracing paper, redrew the lines on the backside and then transferred the images onto different pieces of paper. I needed these images: 1) a full mask for the entire figure 2) the face 3) the shirt. Here's a picture of what these masks looked like: I hand cut omits for the face & shirt using my craft knife and fussy cut the full-image mask using small scissors. I stamped the Kiara image onto an A2 panel and placed the full-image mask on top. I used Salty Ocean as an overall background color and then ink blended Prize Ribbon and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Inks through the "Flowers" Stencil to create my background pattern. The shirt was blended using one of the small round brushes with "Kitsch Flamingo" DOI and then I colored the face with several additional Distress Oxide Inks. I did paint a very fine line of eye shadow ("Salty Ocean") along her lid line but that was the only brushwork on this piece. To deepen the image post ink blending, I placed her back into my MISTI and re-stamped to sharpen the edges. That's a real advantage when using a MISTI! I trimmed the image down to 4" x 5.25" and adhered it to a top-folding A2 card front. The heat-embossed sentiment strip was glued to the top panel and I added a couple of gems from the NEW "Celebration Gem Mix" to finish up the card. She is such a beautiful image and I love how all of the Design Team Members found different ways/techniques to color her! Be sure to head over the Picket Fence Studios Shop to check out all of the AMAZING Black Friday Deals and Door Busters taking place right now! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Rachelle

Aquarius Girl with Michelle

Hello! I am continuing my series of cards using the Zodiac Girl stamps. This month's release is Aquarius girl, and it you look closely at her hair, it seemed obvious to me what colour it had to be! The card base is acetate, so I cut 4 pieces of cardstock with the coordinating die - one (#1) to stamp and colour in to go on the front of the card, one (#2) to go inside the front of the card to hid the adhesive from the front of the card, one  (#3) for inside the card to write a message on, and one (#4) on the back of the card to hid the adhesive from the 3rd piece. A Wreath for all Seasons!

Hello!  Larisa here and today I'm sharing two holiday cards featuring the NEW A Wreath for all Seasons Stamp!  This beautiful stamp is the perfect addition to your cards and it's so versatile! For my first card, I started with a black piece of cardstock and trimmed it to fit an A2 sized card.  Then I stamped out my image and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  On top of that I added a strip of black and white patterned paper from my stash.  After stamping and coloring up Beautiful Girl Jill, I die cut her out using the coordinating die and added her to the left of my card with some foam tape.  I also tucked a bit of iridescent twine behind her for added texture.  A few sequins and a "Merry Christmas" sentiment finish this card off!   For my next card, I chose some fun and whimsical colors to work with on this vertical design.  I stamped my image out in teal ink on light blue card stock.  Then I trimmed it to fit my card base.  Then I die cut and paper pieced my little gnome adding some detail with Copic Markers.  Across the bottom, I combined two different stamped sentiments in two different colors to add some interest to my card. A few sequins and a fuzzy pom pom on my gnomes had finish this fun little card.   Products Used: Beautiful Girl Jill Stamp Beautiful Girl Jill Coordinating Die A Wreath for all Seasons Stamp Sequin Mix Plus - Crafty Friends Fancy Christmas Sentiments Fancy Christmas Sentiments Coordinating Die Billy the Gnome Die A Gnome Christmas Hugs Enclosed Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!

Coffee Is The Answer with Erica

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Nov 02 2021
Hello my crafty coffee lovers!  It's Erica back on the Picket Fence Studios blog today, with a very caffeinated card! I have used so many of the fun new coffee themed goodies on this one.  First off, I have stamped the Down To The Last Cup stamp twice in a row on a panel in a light grey ink. This was done with the help of the MISTI, which is such a helpful tool with these fab seamless stamps. You can cover the whole panel with the stamp by repositioning it over and over, but for this card I did only a row of them, which left a white border on each side of the images. On top of this I then stamped the Iconic Beauty Sara stamp with Black Hybrid ink, again with the help of a MISTI, to get a solid imprint. She's been decorated with some of the gems from the Coffee Beans sequin mix. The coffee beans in this mix are so fun but I'm hoarding those!  My panel was then adhered to a coffee coloured card base and of course I had to used the Coffee Is The Answer word topper die! I have cut the Coffee Is The Answer word topper die out of back card stock and also another piece of black card stock that had some Black Pansy and Golden Rose Paper Glaze on it. This added a fun effect on the letters! A bit like crema on a good cup of espresso.  This card is based on one I made earlier, that you might have seen. I used the same supplies for this one, minus the Coffee Beans sequins, and on this one I did cover the entire card base with the Down To The Last Cup stamp. I also added some details to Iconic Beauty Sara by colouring in her hair flower and giving her a luscious lip colour.  The Coffee Is the Answer word topper die was cut out of white, red and black card stock, and all layered up! I also used the Word Topper Subtitles stamp set to add ´what was the question?´ to the sentiment.  I love this bold, graphic look and was so pleased with how the cards came out!  With that, I'm all done for today, but I really hope you like the cards and will try something like this yourself! It is great fun experimenting with your supplies and see what kind of look you can get with them.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
