A whale of a Slimline Card

by Sandi MacIver on Jun 18 2021
Hey crafty friends, Sandi MacIver here and welcome back.  Today I'm sharing a New video on how to create the A Whale of a Slimline Card.  I'm using products from the June Release and I have them listed at the end of this post for you. The background for this card is created using the Life Changing Blending Brushes and blending Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean. Next, I laid the Slim Line Rising Sun Stencil over it and blended Squeezed Lemonade to create the rays of sun. For the ocean floor, I used copic markers to color the You Were Mermaid for Me ocean floor image.  Cut them out and glued them in place. and the lovely Whale is from the "A Fishy Lot" stamp and Die bundle and he is die cut out and color blended around his edges. Here is the video walking you through the creation of today's card   Card Cuts: Card base:  White - 7 x 8-1/2, score on the 7" side at 3-1/2 Card front:  4-1/4 x 11, I used the second smallest die from the Slim Line Nested Rectangles dies to die cut the card front. Images:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 - white - stamp color and cut out images for overlays Here are the supplies used for the A whale of a Slimline Card:

Slimline Tree Scenery

by Sandi MacIver on Apr 28 2021
Hey crafty friends, Sandi here with a new Slimline Tree Scenery card for you.  I love Picket Fence Studios Slimline Die collection and when the new inserts came out this month I just had to give them a go along with a few other new goodies of course. The Tree Scenery Slim Line Die Cutting System insert was my first choice with it's beautiful branches and tiny little bunny dies that I just had to include. Card Details: Start by die cutting the smaller rectangle as your card front. Use the Details of a Wing Slim Line Stencil and blend Distress Oxide Inks in Speckled Egg, Evergreen Bough and Black Soot to get a light background effect. Next, splatter it with white and gold ink. Cut the tree out of the slimline piece and cut it again from watercolor paper. Using Gansai Tambi watercolors, color the tree adding teals, purples greens and pinks. Once dry, cut the circle away from the water colored tree and glue the tree over the one on the card. Matt the art piece i  coordinating purple before attaching to the white card base. Embellishing the Card: Use the circle die from the Slim line Scallop Framed Dies  - to cut the gold circle outline which is inlaid around the tree. (these new inlaid dies are fabulous for card highlights and there are hearts in this set as well). Glue on gems from the new Reflections Gem Mix.  This is where I got the colors for the tree, therefore, they coordinating beautifully. The Sentiment: Gold heat emboss the sentiment from the NEW Fancy Daily Sentiments onto a piece of black cardstock and die cut it out with the coordinating die set. Use small pieces of foam tape to attach it to the left side of the card. I love the dramatic feel of this card, hope you do too.   used for the Picket Fence Studios Slimline Tree Scenery card: Want to find the products I used?  I have them listed below.  Compensated affiliate links used at no cost to you. New Release Projects with Larisa

by Larisa Hohman on Sep 02 2020
Hello!  Larisa here and today I'm sharing a few projects using some of the new goodies released a couple weeks ago.  Let's get started!   For my first card, I used the NEW A World With Octobers stamp set.  As someone who absolutely loves fall, I have to say, this stamp set is a MUST.  I just love both of the sentiments on the set and that it can be used for Halloween or just fun fall card.  To create my card, I stamped my images out on Copic-friendly card stock and colored them with Copics using the no-line coloring technique.  Then I die cut the panel into a stitched square and layered that on top of some kraft card stock.  I added a few patterned paper page flags underneath my panel and adhered the whole thing to some green plaid paper.  Such a fun and simple card.  Love it!   Card Details: A World With Octobers Clear Stamp Set Copic Colors: Orange: YR04, YR16, YR18 Brown: E43, E47, E49 Green: YG21, YG25, YG67 Yellow: Y21, Y26 Red: R35, R56, R59 For my next card, I used the oh-so-sweet Your Friend Dear Stamp Set and paired it with the NEW Evergreen Stencil.  I have to tell you, I had so much fun creating this card!  To begin, I stamped out my image on Copic-friendly card stock and colored it up using Copic Markers.  Then I created a mask, layered that over the top, and used distress inks to add my trees to the background.  Then I removed my mask and colored in the ground using Copics.  I also added some definition to the trees with my YG67 Copic Marker.  I die cut the whole thing into a stitched square and layered that on top of a kraft card base.  Then I added a sweet sentiment from the New Songbirds Set.   Card Details: Your Friend Dear Clear Stamp Set Evergreen Stencil Songbirds Clear Stamp Set Copic Colors:  Skin: E000, E00, E11, E04, R20 Hair: Y21, Y26, E87 Red: R24, R56, R59 Blue: B21, B24, B26 Orange: YR04, YR16, YR18 Tan: E50, E53, E55, E57 For my final project, I used the NEW Songbirds Clear Stamp Set to create some fun little tag pockets.  I had the little kraft pockets in my stash and decided these little birds would be the perfect way to embellish them.  First, I die cut some white tags from a die in my stash and added some ribbon and clothes pins to the top.  Then I trimmed a piece of patterned paper to fit the front of the pocket and adhered that together.  I colored up my birds using Copic Markers in fun, bright colors and die cut them out in a circle.  Then I used foam tape to mount them on top of some scalloped circles and placed those on top of my pockets.  A few glitter embellishments, some washi tape, and some stamped sentiments finish these little pockets off.   Card Details: Songbirds Clear Stamp Set Copic Colors: Blue: BG10, BG11, BG13 Pink: R00, R11, R20, R22 Yellow: Y21, Y26 Green: YG21, YG25, YG67 Additional Products Used: Black Hybrid Ink Pad Life Changing Blender Brush Set Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!!!

Early Tulip Bouquet Card

by Becky Roberts on Aug 07 2020
Hello Stampers and Happy Friday! Becky Roberts here from Inking Idaho with a pretty tulip card.  We have a very, very short window of tulip growth here in Idaho, so when I see them I really enjoy them.  I stamped the Early Tulip Bouquet stamp with the Picket Fence Black ink pad.  I colored it in with a few Copic markers and then hand cut it out.  I turned the image over and on the backside, gently rubbed with a big ball stylus giving each flower a little bubble shape to it.  Then I added a foam square to the center of each of those areas and placed it on a piece of 4" x 5-1/4" cardstock.  That way it is popped up and has a little rounded shape to each flower. I used the Fancy Kaleidoscope Stencil (one of my personal favorites!) and Distress Oxide ink with the Life Changing Blender Brushes on the card panel before adhering it to a folder card.  Then I ripped it off really fast because I noticed the card was upside down...don't tell me you've never done that! *Ü* Early Tulip Bouquet Fancy Kaleidoscope Stencil Life Changing Blender Brushes   Have a lovely weekend! I have a bold floral card to share today, using stamps from the May release. I white embossed the image from "A Rose" in the top left and bottom right of a piece of Canson watercolour paper. I painted the image using Distress Oxide inks in a variety of blue, pink and red colours. I added a sentiment from the Bird of Paradise Flowers stamp set white embossed onto a scrap of black cardstock. I finished with some sequins from the Gin and Tonic sequin mix.   Did you know? Thanks for visiting :)

Face The Sun with Mindy Eggen

by Mindy Eggen on Apr 29 2020
Welcome back everyone! I hope you are having an amazing week. Today I'm sharing a card I created for the Picket Fence Studios April Release featuring Face The Sun stamp set. The first thing I think of when I see Picket Fence Studios is their gorgeous large images. They already have quite a collection of them and here is one more! While these images are amazing to color, they also make great background pieces. I created my background by first ink blending Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks using Life Changing Blending Brushes onto Neenah Solar White cardstock. Once that was completed dry, I prepped the background with an anti-static powder tool and stamped the large image in the corners of the card with clear ink with the help of my Misti Stamping Tool. I sprinkled on the white embossing powder and heat set with my Wagner Heat Gun. I personally like doing the heat embossing after the ink blending because I feel the white stands out more. Yes, you could do the emboss resist technique and wipe away the excess ink, but I find it's never quite as bright. Once everything was dry, spritzed the background with water and dabbed up with a paper towel. I also flicked on a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls in the colors Perfect Pearls and Iris. I finished off the card by heat embossing a sentiment from the Fireflies on a Warm Night stamp set in white embossing powder onto black cardstock. Then trimming down and adding to the card front with foam squares. I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration and will head over to the Picket Fence Designs website to check out this stamp and all the other amazing products they carry! Grow Through What you Go Through

by Angela Bode on Apr 17 2020
Hello!  I couldn't decide what I wanted to share with you today so I am sharing two encouragement cards and one belated birthday card!   I watercolored the beautiful Ponchatoula Strawberries image and then highlighted several areas with Inktense Pencils.  This set comes with a coordinating die set which allows you to not only die-cut this large image but several smaller leaves, flowers, and berries as well!  The berries overflow the gorgeous Terranium Die in silver foil.  Lastly, I added a sentiment from the amazing Face the Sun stamp set. Next up is a fun belated birthday card.  I need more of this type of card than any other.  I am always late!  I watercolored on black cardstock for the background.  Such a fun technique!  The Wild Wildflowers was heat embossed in white and the sentiment is from Seriously, Literally, Always.  After creating several cards in a row with dark backgrounds it was time to lighten things up a bit!  I used the Leaves and Flower Stencil with LC Blender Brushes also sold in a Bundle.  The sentiment is once again from the fabulous Face the Sun set.  In conclusion, embrace the day, grow through what you go through and send out those birthday cards even if they are late!   Love ya! Creating Dimensional Embellishments with Paper Glaze

by Sara Sherlock on Mar 31 2020

Hello!  It's Sara from Much Love Sara, here to share some fun today.  Today I'm sharing a card, that has 3D embellishments made from Paper Glaze! Have you ever been playing with a product, and had a random "I wonder..." go through your mind?  This happened to me recently, with the Paper Glazes - I wondered how they would work in silicone molds.  So, I quickly dug out a mold, and filled a few spots with the Snowdrop White Paper Glaze.

Hello!  It's Sara, from Much Love Sara here, to share a fun card with you today.  My Life Changing Blending Brushes are one of my favorite tools to play with in my craft room.  So, of course, when I saw the Watercolor Trees and Bushes stamp set, I knew I had to create a beautiful sunset blended background to highlight these pretty images.

I Love You The Mostest, Ink Blending

by Erica Andersson-Burke on Dec 31 2019
Hi guys!  Do you have a favourite technique that you come back to again and again, or reach for when you feel low on mojo? I absolutely LOVE ink blending myself. I have always loved the look of it but man, did I have to work hard for it before the Life Changing Blender Brushes came into my life...!  Now I get the most incredible blend and smooth results, it's almost hard to think back to a time I found it so difficult. These brushes have spoilt me!  Today I am going to blog a card I have already shown, while I was having some commitment issues with the switch over from the old blog to the new. I was locked out and couldn't get back in, no matter what I tried. But all sorted now, thankfully!  I used a new to me stencil, the 3 1/2" Blending Stencil, for this card but it's not available at the moment. There is a slightly smaller one called 2 1/2" Blending Stencil that can be used in the same way.  First of all I heat embossed 'I Love You The Mostest' in gold embossing powder, directly onto a card base. Then I placed the stencil right over it, so the sentiment was right in the middle of the circle. Using my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry in a gradient way.  For those of you good at CAS/Clean And Simple cards, you probably would have stopped at one circle. I on the other hand, am not so good at those kinds of cards so I kept moving the stencil and adding a pattern.  You'd think I would stop there, right? Well.... no, not me. I went ahead and added a generous splattering of gold all over it as well. Since that forced me to stop doing stuff to it while it was drying, I made myself stop there but I was thinking a few sequins or other kind of embellishments might have looked nice. I know, I am a menace... Once I'm on a roll, it's get out of the way or get glitter bombed, basically, lol!  I have had so many lovely comments on this card, and people have pointed out it's easy enough to change up the colours and sentiments to fit all sorts of occasions. Which is all very true. I'd love to see what you would come up with using this as a basic inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you found some inspiration here with me.  Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
