Meet the Maker: Brenda from Missouri

Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda here with you for this special “The Christmas Chronicles” blog series!! It’s so much fun to learn about traditions and rituals from around the globe!! I live right in the center of the United States in a small town in Missouri with my husband of 26 years and our two furbabies (an 11 year old golden retriever and an almost 2 year old goldendoodle).

The Project: Handmade Holiday Joy from Missouri

Stockings are always one of the first things to be hung in our home, after the tree is decorated!! I love the rustic and folk-art feel of the Stocking Full of Coal Stamp Set, although I’ve never gotten coal in my stocking (I guess I’ve always been on the nice list)!!

Picket Fence Products used on my card: Stocking Full of Coal Stamp Set; Holiday Treasures Fabulous Foil Toner Card Fronts; Evergreen Christmas Foil; Another Joyeux Noel Stamps & Coordinating Dies (sentiment); Winter Blues Sequins, Vintage Christmas & Holiday Stockings Sequin Mixes.

Words and Wishes: US Holiday Greetings

The most common greetings here in the US are the traditional Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I can’t wait to read the other participants’ festive holiday greetings and phrases!!

Our Family Traditions

We always gather with my husband’s side of the family on Christmas Eve and keep it simple with appetizers and finger foods. We spend Christmas day with my family either at my parent’s or my brother’s home. If we go to my parent’s my mom cooks her amazing lasagna!! My brother and sister-in-law own a fine-dining restaurant, so they go all out on an early afternoon lunch!! My nieces are always super excited to be finished with the meal so they can open their gifts!!

Dear Brenda- Thanks for sharing your holiday traditions with us. I guess the most universal thing about Christmas is sharing it with family, friends, and especially the fur babies. I can smell your mom’s lasagna all the way over here in Tennessee! Oh, and I love your stocking card.

Lovely traditions. I lived in Missouri and always wanted a white Christmas. There were a few.

Super cute stocking card! Food is a wonderful memory every Christmas at my grandparents. I truly cherish just spending time with family.

Hello Brenda, from Missouri. I really enjoyed your read in regards to your Christmas Traditions. I find sharing the holidays to be hard sometimes but now our traditions are the same as yours. My husbands family on Christmas Eve and mine on Christmas Day. My parents always allowed us one gift to open on Christmas Eve and she always chose which gift and what do you know, it was always pajamas LOL Gotta love her for that! Of course, when I had my son, I followed the same traditions and he opened a set of PJs (typing this as I laugh)

I love your card…it is beautiful. It reminds me the days when I was young. We all had stockings hanging on the Big Tube (TV). I really like the background and how the focal image stands out against it. Such a cute Santa too!

Thank you for sharing your stories and for allowing me a moment to remember my younger years growing up. Those were the days!

    Have a very Merry Christmas!
