Hi friends! Lydia here for a SUPER fun blog hop with our sweet friends at Waffle Flower celebrating the awesome new Stencil mats! You know I was already a huge fan of the water media mat, and one of the reasons I am is how my paper doesn't move on it. So I think it's pretty genius that they designed two new ones for holding your paper while you stencil. A closed corner and an open corner mean the size of your paper doesn't interfere with the mat - in either size - the 6x9 (mini) or the 9x12. They clean up beautifully too.
I have a no-fuss inlay technique for you today. I put a mini-slimline card base (I have mine pre-cut and scored because I'm lazy like that) onto the Mini Stencil mat and used temporary adhesive to hold the card closed while I got to work with Life Changing Blender Brushes, Distress Oxide Inks in Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron and Spiced Marmalade and the Jack 'O Lantern Stencil. I used Pixie Spray on the back of the stencil to hold it in place while I added ink.
Then I did my no-fuss inlay! The key to this technique is to use a thicker cardstock - my slimline bases are 110# cardstock, so they are nice and sturdy and perfect for this technique. I used the Halloween Word Topper Die to cut into my ink blended card front, and because the cardstock is so thick, all the pieces don't fall out immediately - I just glued a thin layer of paper inside the card front to hide the back of the die cuts, being sure to get glue over all the letters and negative pieces, and voila! The greeting is cut into my scene - but no fiddly little pieces to inlay - just die cut and you're done. Very fun, clean look.
Another cool thing about this mat is that if you have squirrel brain like I do, and you forget which brush you used for which color - just smoosh your ink onto the mat and pick it up from there - and then you won't contaminate your ink pad if you make a mistake with the brush!

This hop has been so much fun. Thanks for participating.
Fun card! I like your suggestion to pick up ink from the mat so as to avoid cross-contamination.
I love the Jack-o-Lantern Stencil. The new stencil mats are a must have. Thank you for sharing in this blog.
