Susan here on the blog today. Nichol and her husband, the owners of Picket Fence Studios, adopt rescues so this sentiment set is a natural for them. I have used this sentiment set a few times but not for cards about pets. My friends are my lifesavers so I use the sentiment on cards for them. However, today’s card is focused on pets, my pets.
On Saturday, my husband and I are picking up two rescued senior Cockapoos. They were very sick and blind when they arrived at the SOCKS (Save Our Cocker Spaniels). They are a bonded pair so needed to go to the same foster parents. These foster parents loved these two – Blanche and Dorothy – through potty training, the difficult treatment for heart worm, removal of cataracts, spaying and skin issues. Both have now been cleared to come to their furever home – our house. I wanted to somehow express my gratitude to this family who took such good care of them so I made this card.
First, I used my blender brushes to ink up a 5.25 x 4″ panel using the Random Dots Stencil and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide. I adhered this to a blush pink A2 sized panel. Using my MISTI, I stamped the two dog images from Friendly Mutts with Memento Tuxedo Black ink – this is my favorite ink for Copics. Trying to keep the colors creamy, I used E50, E51 and E53. Looking at the card now, the E40s would have been a better choice. I then added 3M foam tape to each dog.
Next I heat embossed the sentiment onto black card stock and trimmed this into a strip. I added 3M foam adhesive to this as well. I then assembled the card and added some gold sequins.
If you have any questions, please leave them below. Thanks, Susan
