Have a Lovely Day

Have a Lovely Day

Jennifer here with today’s inspiration from Picket Fence Studios!  I’m so thrilled to share a project I created with the new November release.  I used the gorgeous Ruffled Peony Bouquet stamp set to try a new-to-me technique and I’m thrilled with the result.

Have a Lovely Day by Jen Timko | Ruffled Peony Bouquet Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Daniel Smith Watercolors, Copic MarkersI love the look of bold multi-colored flowers but never seem to be able to get just what I’m looking for when using watercolors.  So I remembered a technique that used ink to color and then Copic markers to add dimension.  I thought it would be fun to try it using watercolor paints instead to see if that would work.  Lo and behold, yes!

Have a Lovely Day by Jen Timko | Ruffled Peony Bouquet Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Daniel Smith Watercolors, Copic MarkersI found the process easier than I expected, too.  I started by matching some Copic markers to my paint swatches to make sure I knew where to begin when applying the paint.  Then I just kind of kept playing with colors and textures.  I created a video to show the process that I hope will be helpful.

If you want to know all the Copic colors I used, I did list them in the video but they are linked below as well.  I hope you enjoy this project!  Make sure you take some time to create just for the sake of creating!!  Thanks for stopping in today.

The depth you added with the copics makes the card really stand out. Awesome.
