How do the birds fly? Or the Butterflies?
Hello, this is Nicole Petersen on the Picket Fence Blog, today.
A couple of months ago I was given the opportunity to meet Gina K. in REAL LIFE! What an amazing treat for a new company to have such an accomplished and inspiring friend.
When I saw these beautiful stamps and dies, I knew they were the perfect fit for a super fun and easy technique using multiple Gina K. dye inks, the MISTI, and Life Changing Blending Brushes.
After placing the butterfly stamp from Elegant Asters Stamp Set onto the lid of the MISTI platform, I used Life Changing Blender Brushes to add color to the stamp! That’s it. Ink up a brush and rub multiple colors of ink on the stamp! It worked great giving the butterflies a molted appearance. Gina K dye inks are perfect for this technique, because of their intense juiciness and blending capabilities. See below for the inks I used.
Then, I used Gina K Sweet Mango cardstock to create a shimmering background by spreading Gina’s Glitz Glitter Gel by Therm O Web! If you have not tried this shimmery, glittery goodness, RUN TO THE CLOSEST STORE or COMPUTER! It is true to color and matches Gina’s inks and cardstock. And, it dries very quickly with NO glitter rubbing off. It’s good stuff.
Last, I cut down the Glitz Glitter Gel cardstock to a bit smaller than an A2 card, mounted it to a Jelly Bean Green card front, glued the butterflies to a piece of acetate, and stamped this gorgeous sentiment.
The second card is a quick spin on direct stamping and how stunning a simple card can steal the show. I used white ink to stamp the flowers from the stamp set on to Red Hot Gina K. cardstock card base. The perfect placement to one side of the card can only be achieved with the MISTI; however, I still wanted to play with Gina K.’s Glitz Glitter Gel a bit more. So, I created flower centers by scooping out small amounts of Black Glitz Glitter Gel with my fingers to create glittery accents. I placed them on a craft sheet to dry overnight. Lastly, I glued my handmade centers, another butterfly inked using the same molted technique as first card, and bling to the front of the card.
Here are all the products I used on today’s projects. I hope you enjoy supporting these two women as much as I do!
